EPIC Duke Street Townhouse, City Centre Apartments

We stayed for the night with our 2 young children, however would probably not stay with children again. The good points: * great central location * comfy bed in bedroom * lift in the property and space for a pram to be stored * good curtains Less good points and reasons we wouldn't bring our children back: 1. A vape was found on the bedroom floor by our toddler! Obviously not cleaned well after previous guests and obviously dangerous. 2. The tv remote was not working. This may be a battery issue but we were really looking forward to a relaxing night with the tv and the kids would like to watch it in the morning. Message sent to hosts earlier in the evening but no reply. In fact, we never had a reply to any of our direct messages and still haven't. 3. Sofa bed is odd. We seemed to follow the instructions as written, however, each half of the sofabed was on a different level (not a flat bed when opened out). One half of it was comfortable, the other half is awful and uncomfortable. 4. The apartment is so noisy I double checked whether a window was open but they dont open. There is little noise protection from other guests in the building, especially those out in the corrector in the early hours. 5. We appreciated the tea/coffee/milk, however, there were only 3 mugs and 3 dinner plates, when the apartment advertises as catering for 4. 6. No paper towels as advertised and no teatowels- had to use body towels as tiniest draining board. We were really disappointed.

Great staff, clean rooms.

Bathrooms were clean, but carpets worn, stained , dirty and disgusting. Lounge furniture in poor repair and no where comfortable to sit. Kitchen sadly equipped and outlets shorting. No coffee maker. No staff other than cleaner who knocked on our door at 11;00 sharp. No hot water in the morning so no showers.

Good location though very close to nightlife, rooms were very hot so had to keep the windows open and couldn't sleep with the noise, the property was obviously beautiful at one point but is now grubby, dingy and run down with damaged walls and filthy carpets. I had issues right from the start with being unable to complete check in details and repeated messages gping unanswered. On the day n one contacted us with check-in details and I had to ring the number several times before getting an answer to request these. When we arrived at the property it was raining heavily and our code didnt work so we were stuck in the street. Luckily another resident let us into the hall. As our code didnt work we were stuck in the hall for 30 minutes ringing the number repeatedly, no one answered. Luckily a cleaner came along and after checking our email confirmation, used her master code to allow us to access our keys. A bathroom in the main bedroom which doesnt have a handle on the outside was left unlocked and my son managed to lock himself inside as the handle came off in his hand. Luckily someone answered the phone this time but he was stuck in there for an hour. Then to add insult to injury, we were charged £10 for taking the flimsy plastic room cards with us as we couldn't access the lock box to leave them behind, because of the aforementioned invalid code. In conclusion, overpriced dump of a place with no reliable method of communication if there is an issue, avoid like the plague
