We had a great one night stay here after a day at Busch Gardens. The hotel is about a mile from the park, so location was super convenient. Perks were the indoor/outdoor heated pool,the arcade, in-house restaurant and bar. The property was quiet and clean, staff was friendly. We'll definitely stay here again.

We were not told about the $12.00 parking fee (on their own property) until checkin. The worst part was that I searched hotels with a bar. We checked in and they told us the bar would be open until 11:00. At 6:30/7:00, we went down to visit the bar, and it was closed. This is NOT acceptable. My husband and I do not get away often, and this hotel did not at all live up to what they promised. This is a bait and switch way of doing business. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again, or any other hotel that operates in a similar manner. Very disappointing, and this will not be the end of my frustration.

I liked your indoor/outdoor pool. however, the bottom of the pool had broken pieces. The sides of the pool needed to be cleaned. I could scrape off the scum with my fingernail. Overall, we would return

I think that if you advertise that you have a bar and a restaurant, then you should staff it and have it open. I understand that occupancy was low, but what about the customers that you did have there. I will find another hotel with a bar and restaurant that will be open when I come back there.

Lights didn’t work on all the lamps except for one due to blown bulbs. Sink in bathroom was leaking and room was pretty dusty. You could see cobwebs on the lamps by the bed. The bed was clean and very comfortable; however. Overall, I would rate the room 3 out of five stars.

Staff was kind and welcoming. Bathroom was not thoroughly cleaned. Tissue box had a dirty napkin inside and was not refilled debris in the bathtub. Elevator was not working properly.

When my family and I checked in the staff was very friendly unfortunately when we arrived to our room it was unsanitary. I had the misfortune of walking on something wet on a floor that has carpet, I had to put a towel down that was completely soaked afte, then go take a shower because I did not know what I stepped in. When I called the front desk to inquire about this I was assured it was water. Later that evening feeling uncomfortable walking in a room with a puddle of an unknown source I spoke to the front desk again. My room was changed to 521 which was also nasty. The chair had stains and the cushion was flipped to hide a huge circular stain. I had to placed a towel on the chair because I was afraid to sit on the chair. I had to then go to Walmart buy bed sheets wash those sheets to cover the bed because if what I encountered was any indication of how clean these rooms were then I was not gonna risk it. I was booked for 2 nights and only stayed 1. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Lobby was beautiful, always smelled very nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room needed a little bit of an update. There were stains on the walls, carpet not too great and pillows smelled a little funky. But overall clean.

The good: It was nice walking into the updated lobby. The host was friendly and had me checked in quickly. I took advantage of his offer to sign me up for the Hilton Honors program as well. Got our room key and off we went. HUGE room; great water pressure; plenty of hot water; reasonably comfortable beds with decent bedding that actually fit. The bad: Pretty much everything else. Room and furnishings showing their age; a little musty; carpet disgusting; walls did little to block any noise from adjacent room or hall; Nice tv except it pulled in no local news channels successfully; we were next to an exit door which was broken – in that it did not close all the way or lock so security was an issue (this has been noted by other reviewers, and clearly not addressed). Overall, the property is simply showing its age, and not in a good way. All this was topped off by a $10 per night parking charge. The ad for the property said ‘self-parking’ and that should have been a red flag for me. Fair enough, most hotels in this price range do not provide valet parking unless it is in a more metropolitan area, nor do they charge a separate fee. Many other properties available in the Williamsburg which are competitively priced – and don’t charge what is essentially a hidden parking fee. This is simply a money grab and a complete showstopper for me. Shame on Hilton. I will not be activating my rewards account, as I won’t be using it going forward.

Location was extremely convenient for our trip to Busch Gardens. The hotel was modern and updated, but our room needed the walls cleaned. It looked like blood smeared on the wall by the bed as well as the curtains. There is no continental breakfast and the food we purchased from their cafe was absolutely terrible. I waited forever for a coffee that they forgot to make and the one they gave me was cold. Extremely disappointed by that.

Doubletree used to be a guaranteed clean, modern, well maintained facility, with a friendly, well trained staff. And warm, tasty cookies. Based on this property, that’s no longer the case. The room wasn’t terribly clean, smelled of smoke and mildew and like the bathroom had been recently used. Plus the cookies were so overcooked they were nearly burnt. Disappointing stay, for the price point.

The location is excellent - close to Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg. The hotel itself is a bit worn - carpets and wallpaper need to be replaced. Also, I booked a balcony room with a view but the view turned out to be of the dumpster. The room was quiet and the bed was comfortable.

There has been a very recent cosmetic renovation of finishes… Like carpet and flooring and paint and lobby furniture. However, I don't know how old the furniture in the bedrooms is, becuase the chair and sofa looked really saggy. I wouldn't sit on either. The bathrooms are TINY and still pretty old looking, except for the wallpaper and mirror lights. The elevator by my room was FILTHY. I was at a conference so I had to stay there. I would not stay there again and would not recommend anyone else does either.

Stayed in December 2024. Very convenient for visitors to Busch Gardens. Room was spacious and well-appointed. Unfortunately, Room 314 was very noisy. Something that sounded like a generator was on outside our room all night, and a construction/maintenance crew was sawing or planing above/below our room at 8 AM.

Definitely not the best hotel I've stayed in. My room on the 2nd level had flaws. The thermostat said it was 72° but it definitely felt hotter. I was sweating in my sleep, which i don't do when I'm at home in 72° ambient temperature. No fridge or microwave in my room, which i usually have in all my other hotels I've booked. 2 things I didn't like that was my fault for not reading in the amenities section were no free complimentary breakfast and paid parking that was $12 a day. But the good things were, the first floor/lobby level was amazing! Awesome bar, plenty of conference rooms and auditoriums. In my honest opinion, I would only recommend people to book here if they want to be super close to Busch Gardens for multi day visits, or if your organization is booking the conference rooms and auditoriums and you're from out of town so staying here will be super convenient. And this review is me being honest.

Unfortunately, this hotel had more issues for us than highlights. The WiFi was terrible. For such a big hotel and one that seemed to be a locale for business meetings, etc. it left a lot to be desired as far as making it easy for its guests to connect online. Our TV didn't work and we asked for the complimentary room refresh and it didn't happen. We did like the food, bar, pool, and kids' games. But the WiFi issues and the costs ($75 to check in early?) were disapointments.

I had a great time from the moment I checked in until I left. This is a great space located off the main road but very easily accessible. I love that is is near the Whaling Company Restaurant, which is an absolute fave. The property is under some minor renovations but this did not present as bothersome. The staff are amazing! Friendly, professional, and ready to go above and beyond to ensure guests are well cared fir, which is something I look for at a great hotel. The only thing i did not like was paying for parking, and the cheap tiny bottles of water they place in the room with a $2.50 price tag. Keep the cookie, and make water complimentary. Thank God there is a 7-11 a block or two away...get your snacks and drinks before you settle into your room. Other than these, i had great stay!

We stayed here for 2 nights and for the price, it was just ok. I had high expectations but was a little disappointed. The property overall is clean, with decent amenities but the service wasn't great and the condition of the room was not what i would expect for this type of hotel. My main complaints were regarding the bathroom and housekeeping. The toilet wouldn't flush from the moment we got there and maintenance had to fix it. Then it literally ran, loudly, all night long. Also, i was calling the front desk from the phone in the room but the cord must have had a short because it kept going dead mid-conversation, so i had to go down in person. I also asked for just one extra towel and it never arrived, so i had to go back down to the lobby to get it myself. The tub/shower didn't work properly so if you turn on the shower, half of the water comes from the shower head and the rest from the tub spicket, so it was filling up with water during my showers. We were out when housekeeping came to tidy up and all they did was make up the 2 beds, and empty the trash. We had a pull-out sofa as well which they did not touch or attempt to make up while we were gone. They didn't even replace the trashbag they they took. And lastly, they charged me for parking for both nights which they NEVER mentioned at any point during check-in. They just ask if you have a vehicle but never said they were charging me for parking in the huge, hotel parking lot. Overall, just ok.

I had never experienced such a cold and unwelcoming greeting during any of my stays in Virginia. After a long drive, I was expected to be greeted with a smile and details about our stay. Instead we were immediately asked for last name and credit card and handed our keys to our room without even given directions to the elevator. After settling in we went back downstairs to ask about breakfast and the other amenities offered at double tree. With clear annoyance and unwarranted attitude he pointed at the chalkboard with the breakfast menu and hours and failed to tell me the location of breakfast. When I asked where that might be he seemed aggravated by the follow up question and pointed to the area.I wanted to book an extra day to enjoy the pool and unwind before a long trip back and asked if there were rooms available he answered yes with no further instruction on how to coordinate the additional stay. I asked if we could book the same room with him at the front desk and he said do it on expedita because it would be cheaper. I looked down at his name tag to make sure I knew who I was speaking to and to my surprise Eric was a manager at this location.I was in utter shock to find out this is how a manager greets guest. This experience left a distasteful feeling. our stay was nonrefundable and that is the only reason we stayed. With this experience I will never stay at this hotel during a return trip to Virginia again.

We were not treated well, or properly greeted, at the front desk. Then, to top it off, when we tried ordering room service, it took 1 1/2 hours to get it. My wife went down to retrieve the food, and the manager said he would make sure it was the first meal to come out of the kitchen. 20 minutes later, she received the food, without an apology, and without any discounts. We are Hilton honors members, as well. And, we prefer to stay at Doubletree when possible. But, unless this property reaches out to apologize and rectify this situation, we’ll stay someplace else when we take a trip to Williamsburg.

I am writing regarding my recent stay at your hotel. When I booked through your website, it clearly stated that breakfast was included with the room. We have stayed here several times. Each time we are happy overall. However, every time we have dined at the restaurant, the food is decent (albeit overpriced), but it takes FOREVER to get our food. Even when there are less than 20 people in total in the restaurant area. Otherwise, great hotel.

Staff was great but the restaurant was horrible. One cook and waited over an hour for food that was horrible. Two meals came out and by the time other two came they were done with there’s . No apology. We weren’t the only guests that were disappointed. Should just close that restaurant. Lobby staff was very nice tho. Accommodating

This is an aging property with older rooms and furnishings. I cannot believe how much money I paid for one night to stay here. The breakfast the next morning was extra and it was burnt and inedible.

Just excellent, clean, nice accommodations, the only complaint I have is that the cost of alcoholic beverages at the hotel was stupidly outrageous (Like $20 for a rum and coke). Everything else was great, though!!

Nice hotel, but went off-season, parking lot wide open and my card was charged for parking without being notified in advance. The restaurant was closed and no available amenities during stay. Check in girl was eating subway and texting on her phone and barely acknowledged us.
