The accommodation is quite run down. The bathroom was tiny and the water literally poured straight out of the shower onto the bathroom floor. Asthere was no daily cleaning, the bathroom floor was contantly wet. The hours advertised at the restaurant are a work of fiction. The pool is gorgeous, but cold, meaning that the spas were very heavily utilised especially by unsupervised children.

We paid for a swim up room. When we got there the gates were locked and the entire resort pool was under matience. We were not told this on booking. We were told since we booked through wotif it was a third party and none refundable room..so they hold no responsibility and all they could do was offer us a bottle of complimentary wine and a late check out. We feel scammed out of our money. The same exact same thing happened to the couple who were rooming next to us. Why in the world would those rooms be available to rent when u cant use the exact thing u r paying for just a joke. Never go back there again and its false advertisement.

Stayed here on a weekday and the resort was mainly empty - lovely property and everything I thought it would be with the beautiful pool surrounding the property My only concern, there is one small gym, one lap pool and one sauna - during the busy holiday period I would be concerned about accessing these facilties easily.

We had a lovely stay at Oaks Resort. The pool area was really nice, and the view from the property was beautiful. The room was comfortable and met our expectations. The resort also had great amenities including a tennis court and a steam room, which made the stay even more enjoyable. Overall, a relaxing and pleasant experience — would definitely stay again!

This was a short one night stay until we could get into the private apartment we had booked in the same complex. This room through expedia was much more modern and well equipped. We enjoyed the large tv and 2nd tv in the master bedroom, wifi, updated kitchen, king bed, king singles in the 2nd bedroom, updated bathroom and proximity to the pool & restaurant. A great property that we highly recommend. The heated pool was not heated during our stay. The spas and lagoon pool as well as the gym were excellent.

Nice place, though the main feature of the pools requires warmer weather especially when the heated lap pool isn't heated due to repairs. Gym was basic/limited. The room wasn't well cleaned, eg. there was a wrapper under a table so it clearly hadn't been properly vacuumed, for some reason the kitchenette hot water never even got warm even when I ran it a fair while, the shower didn't have that issue though. It is irritating to have to fill in a paper form at checkin when it should all have been pre-filled from the online booking (fair enough the number plate, but my e-mail etc should all have been done already).

The property was in very bad condition. The room 6 needs to be renovated. The table was broken and the kitchen's floor needs to be replaced. Friendly front desk staff unfortunately the room was not clean properly. We found rubbish from the previous customers.

My husband and I recently stayed here for our wedding anniversary. Overall the property is very run down and needs some love. The room was dirty upon check in - benches and surfaces sticky, cup marks on coffee table (which has not been used by us during our stay) and glass door leading to balcony covered with dirt and water stains. I had mentioned this to reception staff who said they would have the room ''re-cleaned' and that they recently had employees new staff that were learning. The benches remained sticky, water marks remained and glass door was not wiped down. Plantation shutters broken throughout room, making it hard to open and close shutters. The beds are TERRIBLE. Super hard and comfortable. ''King bed'' is two twin beds pushed together and I constantly found myself stuck between the two. It can be quite loud early in the mornings and late at night - which I can get passed but please keep this in mind if you are looking for a restful weekend away. Very low privacy - unfortunately you can see directly into other guests rooms from the balcony. The restaurant staff are great. Location is also great.

We stayed for 3 nights (Friday to Monday) and had a nice time. The room had been updated and was roomy. Bed was quite comfortable and the pool was nice and roomy. Sadly the room and bathroom was not as clean as expected, there was half a roll of toilet paper, no soap/shower gel/ shampoo/ conditioner. For a full kitchen we kind of expected there to be a cutting board and something more than a butter knife, no dishwashing liquid, tea towel or cloth. The air conditioner in the lounge room needed servicing as it smelt horrible so we couldn’t use it. The staff were very friendly and provided a couple of items which they were able to find which made the stay comfortable. The pool got quite dirty as it wasn’t cleaned through our stay. These things wouldn’t prevent us from staying again. What we were very disappointed in was the property being advertised as ‘non smoking property’ when in fact when I queried this with staff I was advised there is smoking allowed on the verandahs. We were surrounded by smokers making our veranda not useable and opening our doors for fresh air also not an option. Swimming past smokers was also unpleasant to say the least. Fresh air was not optional.

A glorified motel masquerading as a hotel which is very tired. Very basic rooms, sparsely decorated. Ours had cupboard doors falling off. Crockery and cutlery supplied were minimal and had odd numbers with 3 of some items and four of others. Unfortunately the lagoon pool was freezing, which is not the fault of the property but as it is the main feature maybe they should consider heating it as there is no other reason to stay at this hotel.

The thing that disappointed me was that you had to use your own mobile data to watch Netflix and YouTube and the hotel wifi won’t work. We were supposedly offered an upgrade but it did not come with housekeeping ? The property was nice and relaxing though and right next to supermarket

I liked the premises however the customer service from the gentlemen at the front desk was disrespectful. I asked if i could have a late check out as i was going dolphin watching later in the day. He said i could as someone else was checking in early that day which was a load of crap the premises was empy i called reception Saturday night and they said late checkout was ok.

We paid full price, including room service, yet no room service was provided. It's very disappointing, to be honest. When we ask the receptionist about anything, they always answer with short answers and don't offer help. We even had to go get our own towels from the reception ourselves!!! The only cafe/restaurant staff are very very very rude and the food takes for eveeeeer.

The pool is amazing but the one bedroom swimout apartment I stayed in was dated. Poor WiFi on the TV and absolutely shocking daily house keeping which was included with our booking. Other than fresh towels there was no house keeping done with basic supplies like toilet paper and coffee not replenished. Rubbish not removed and It took 3 calls over more than 6 hours to receive those supplies on our third day of our stay.

Unable to check in on arrival at the scheduled 2pm time, without any prior notification from reception or management, due to the room not being cleaned. The room was apparently on a waiting list to be cleaned and we were told they would ring us when the room was ready.. After no call again we returned to the reception at 3.30pm and apparently room has still not been cleaned, We leave again and return at 4.30pm and room is finally available. Extremely poor service, and no compensation for the inconvenience imposed. Will not recommend or return.

The rooms were clean, well presented and well appointed. The beds were comfortable and a good choice of pillows. Sadly, our stay was just for one night, but it was pleasant and would be a nice place to visit for longer. The tariff was quite reasonable, given the standard of the resort. Parking was convenient and secure. Staff were friendly and helpful with an easy check-in and check out. I would most definitely consider staying here again.

We had an amazing time at Oaks Port Stephens! We loved the ease of the swim out room and felt very relaxed. There just aren’t too many dining options available as the restaurant attached to the resort is a little overpriced and food takes a long time to come out. Apart from that we had a great time and will be returning.

Amazing place to stay in Nelson Bay! It is a bit pricey, and so is the rest of Nelson Bay. The room was clean and had a balcony and a nice view. The room had an inbuilt jacuzzi as well in the bath and there is a large living room area. The pool outside is very large and beautiful, and the steam room is a great commodity to have available. The staff were very friendly, one of them was so nice that she waited until 11pm to check us into our rooms, thank you so much to her! And finally, the beds were very comfortable! Downsides: The main downside is dining. The restaurant that is usually open there was closed because as we were told, "went on a holiday." This restaurant is independent of the resort, but still, this was inconvenient. Breakfast is also not available there. A buffet-type breakfast (something often seen in hotels and resorts) would be a nice addition to have and I recommend the owners to include this. Also, most of the large pool is shallow and made for kids. It would have been nice if it was more suited for adults to use, but there were areas where adults could swim so that's okay. Overall, would recommend it. Very professionally kept and comfortable resort! A buffet and/or working restaurant would push me up to 5 stars.

Unfortunately, upon arrival was given wifi login and map to get to my room. What they didn't inform me of , was that the wifi wasn't working and hadn't been for quite some time. I had to return to reception to find this out. But on the other hand , they did upgrade the room to a one bedroom apartment rather than just the hotel room, which was lovely. But again , wasn't informed that the onsite restaurant was closed , although not run by resort. would have been nice to be told these things. In the kitchen there was no washing up utensils. Bit hard to put the dishwasher on with no powder or detergent and nothing to clean with. The bathroom did come with a beautiful spa bath, that someone had turned the nozzles up, so when I turned it on, all the water flew all over the room. but the resort itself is in a beautiful setting and relaxing as you had nothing to watch on tv except free to air.

The room are large, the parking is great. Have to say it gets noisy as we had the room next to the gates. You can hear the showers running from the other rooms. As for the restaurant, even though it a separate identity, you need to get someone that can cook. And very overpriced

Unique settings with pool surrounding the buildings. Better to choose ground floor rooms if possible. Close to woolies and Coles. Good options close by for take away. Resort restaurant does not offer much.
