Catalonia Royal Tulum Beach & Spa Resort Adults Only - All Inclusive

The property was very well-maintained and the staff was very friendly and attentive. There were plenty of dining options and I felt the food was above average. We enjoyed the nightly entertainment as well. Lastly, the beach was probably the nicest of all the Caribbean properties I’ve visited.

Excellent service, food and stay as a privileged guest. Well worth the extra cost. Unfortunately beach and water was completely covered in sargassum, not the hotel's fault and they did their best to try and remove it but it was coming in faster than they could haul it away.

Adults only, so very pleasant for those seeking break from parenthood and empty nesters. Dining options are somewhat limited and reservations required. dress code casual. No buffet options for dinners… so one has to select a themed restaurant for dinners. Personnel are very friendly and service is above average… Pool area chairs get taken early in the am., but ample chairs on beach. This area is dealing with lots of Sargassum ( seaweed), which is cleared as best as possible daily..unfortunately . Not sure there is a better time of year, especially since June-October is Hurricane season here in the Gulf. We had great weather. The Wifi is excellent!

We had an amazing stay at the Catalonia Royal Tulum. The resort itself is paradise. It is hard to imagine a more stunning location. From the lobby you immediately recognize the serene location. Staff were friendly and helpful right away. We were met with welcome drinks and cold towels. Walking through the rainforest to our rooms and the beach is wonderful. It never gets old to traverse this gorgeous location. The white sand beach is magical. We loved all of the facilities. The pool is excellent, especially with the swim up bar. There are some great food options, too. We particularly loved Mamma Mia and Steakville for dinners. The service at those locations is incredible, and the food is exceptional. Each restaurant offers a fine dining experience with 3 or 4 course meals. Carmen at Mamma Mia was a great server and made our dinner experiences so pleasurable as well. The La Palapa buffet exceeded our expectations. We loved the fresh tacos at lunch. There are so many food options, and a great mix of local options and familiar, homey options too. Quesabelle was such a wonderful hostess who consistently made us feel welcomed and happy every time we stepped in for a meal. The staff and facilities are amazing, and the natural beauty of the resort will take your breath away. We loved our experience at this resort in Tulum and we highly recommend you go visit as well if you are looking for a luxurious, classy, relaxing, beautiful vacation.

We liked the wide variety of restaurants to choose from for the dinner. The resort is not huge and this helps with keeping it in good conditions. However, we found there were not enough sun beds at the beach which is also small but in great conditions. Food was excellent, even the buffet one!!

The Hotel Ground is beautiful. The Sargasso was out of the hotels control but very beautiful and serene. Hospitality, Food and Staff were great but I would avoid the Buffet and eat at Sorrento’s instead. If you want to eat at the buffet go very very early unless you like food that’s been sitting there for hours. The pool tiles and pool in general are in desperate need of repairs/replacement and/or upgrades. A fresh paint job surrounding the pool bar are needed too. Night Themes are completely subpar and need a livelier better lineup. They couldn’t retain keeping vacationers to watch most nights. They were simply getting up and walking away… me included! . I like the Celebration of the States of Mexico Theme. No need for a karaoke theme night in a resort setting but that’s my opinion.

Beautiful resort. Great food at all restaurants. Didn’t have the privilege room and didn’t feel we were missing out on anything. Pool is absolutely amazing. Beach is nice with plenty of room. You have to get up early to get a pool chair, they are normally gone by 8 am.

The Catalonia resort seems to have everything needed for a vacation. It’s not a big resort but it has 9 restaurants and many bars. Some restaurants are better than others. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The resort is located in the jungle type pathway with different cute animals that you can encounter. The resort has nice pool and gorgeous beach but if you go after April most likely it will have seaweed. At night they have entertainment and they try for people to have fun. Most we liked is that the age category was from late 20s to mid 50s crowd and there was a lot of people from Europe. Best restaurants I liked was Italian, Asian Tao and Ruixa with live show.

The property was beautiful. The staff was so nice and helpful. The only complaint I have is that our room started to smell like sewage the last 2 days there.

How nicely they cleaned up after Hurricane. Lounge chairs around the pool were not clean, Bird poop on chairs…

Property is the clean and nice staff was courtesy only thing is the buffet areas to flies that area needs to closed in so no insects can enter while visitors enjoy their meals.

Wonderful and friendly staff. All areas of the resort were kept clean and ready for use. The food we tried was delicious at the various restaurants. The rooms were well kept and cleaned daily if you choose. Snacks and drinks in room were restocked daily when the room is cleaned. The A/C was a little squirrely and seemed to be going out but still cooled ok. It could use at least one bright light option, as the lights were all dim. The late night room service menu left a little to be desired. All minimal things in grand scheme. All in all, had a wonderful time and plan on visiting again.

The property was significantly misrepresented on your platform. Upon arrival, it was immediately clear that the hotel did not match the advertised photos or descriptions. The room was not updated or clean, the pool was in poor condition, the beach was not maintained, and the glassware at the outdoor bar appeared dirty, scratched and stained. The overall condition of the property felt neglected and unhygienic. We were extremely uncomfortable and concerned for our health and safety. My friend and I stayed at the property for less than an hour before deciding to leave and find alternative accommodations. This unexpected situation caused us to lose nearly an entire afternoon of our trip searching for a replacement hotel. Not to mention the amount of money we had to spend to find a hotel last minute. Overall a horrible experience!

The beach area it’s beautiful,rooms are very clean staff are great people very welcoming you as soon as you get there, lots off activities around the pool and the beach, we had a great time, I will go back definitely!

Immaculate…!

This is a small hotel, overall set within a jungle. Has 6 buildings/3 floors each with no elevators. Caotis animals roaming around (Very simular to racoons) the hotel, they will not bother you, they just want food. Resort is located in Riverira Maya, 1 hour away from Tulum airport. Rooms: Beautiful, updated and spacious rooms. Rooms have fridge stocked daily (included/free), safe, balcony with chairs/table, scale, comfortable beds, robes, iron board/iron, blow dryer and zoom in mirror with light. Large rain shower head. A/c does not feel any lower then 73 degrees even after putting it on 60 degrees (this is normal for them), but it does have a ceiling fan. Room service: 24 hour room service with great service, if you don't see something you want, write it in the notes and they will try their best to get it for you. Order with time, they take 45-70 minutes give or take. This is also included, no additional fee. Concierge: Is amazing! Very nice and attentive. You can request a cart to take you within the property. Just call the front desk. Beach: Lifeguard on duty all day, contains lots of lounge chairs, sofas and side tables. Very clean and safe. Easy access and has 3 clean showers. Waiters come by to get your drink orders (included/free). Pool: Pool is very large with one side of it being for pool volleyball. Great swim up bar in middle of pool with stools. Towards the end of out trip, it seemed the pool needed cleaning, we informed them and they disregarded it (see pic

Over all the trip was fine. We enjoyed our time and the beautiful views. But the Air Conditioning couldnt keep up in our room. It was unbearable at times! But the kind manager gave us, apparently, the only portable fan on the property. Which made it tolerable and at least brought the temperature down to 24.5 Celsius. Food in the restaurants were great! Room service was quick but barely tolerable. Not cooked enought(the cheese wasnt melted on my pizza) and sadly no sour cream available. Over all we'd consider going back it wasnt horrible, but just wasnt fully at a high end resort standards.

2nd time at Catalonia Royal Tulum. This is a great resort, staff is very friendly and helpful. I feel they go the extra mile for ppl. Put a banner on our door for my husband’s birthday. My husband hurt his ankle on day 3 and staff let him borrow some crutches till he could get around on it. Rooms were very warm this time. Could have used a better ceiling fan. But I understand it is Mexico, everything is hot in September. Breakfast and lunch buffet staff were fabulous. Remembered our room number and what we liked to drink after a couple days. Beach area very nice. Palm trees for shade. Pool activities were entertaining. We will return.

We enjoyed the property. The staff was excellent and so friendly. Our room was beautiful. We found the mattress a bit hard and the food just ok.

This place was actually amazing in all respects. My only caution is that there are no elevators so if you cannot walk stairs request a first floor room.

The room upgrade didn’t seem like much of an upgrade and the room had a musty smell but it’s a beach so kinda have to expect it. The property is a bit dated but well maintained and was a nice stay but not sure worth the upgraded fees to gain access to the beloved restaurant which has no ceiling fans to at least help deter mosquitoes. Not sure the $300 upgrade was really worth it

The property is secluded and has a beautiful walk way through it. The pool is wonderful and located perfectly by the beach. All very convenient. Completely enjoyed this facility and will go back. Staff is amazing! The only complaint is that the air conditioner is locked at 23C (which is 73.4 degrees F). That’s just too warm. I’m sure they can do something about that, but I didn’t make a lot of noise about it. Fabulous and relaxing vacay!

The property is beautiful, serene and romantic. We initially had issues with our room not cooling but the front desk made every effort to accommodate us by allowing us to view other rooms to switch to and even upgrading our room. They were very attentive and checked on us frequently. We loved our stay and will most certainly be back.

The property is beautiful. The beach is one of the best I've ever been to in Mexico. The food was good. The staff was very friendly. The only complaint that I had was that the a/c in our room was very unreliable. It did not maintain a constant temperature and was often uncomfortably hot.

I love this resort but it definitely needs more menu choices. Only 1 place for breakfast and 2 places for lunch. Dinner many restaurants but for me who is very picky, there was 1 thing on each menu i would eat. Staying 10 days meant the same meals over and over. Plus, there is nothing to eat for snacks or after a late excursion. But it is safe and quiet and the bar/nightlife cant be heard in the rooms so it is very quiet. I loved the animals at the resort! The coati and agouti are entertaining and make this place so much better! I like how they really strive to keep the beach and resort clean. I have stayed here twice inside a year and will definitely be back again in a few months!

I was a little disappointed. I was at this location a year ago with a large group. The service was amazing. I was fully expecting that again but did not receive that. Upon arrival we paid to upgrade to privilege. I’m not exactly sure that Bloved was worth $400 but it did save us when our reservation to Tapas was cancelled upon arrival. Please don’t require reservations if staff is going to bump you. Margaritas bar by far had the friendliest staff, the pool bar staff was miserable. Housekeeping was so friendly and kind. I might try another Catalonia location but I don’t think I’ll return to this one.

The staff were very attentive and made our stay very memorable. The reception team and pool team elevated the everyday experience. Huge shoutout to Quetzabel in La Palapa buffet for being so welcoming and bright. Her energy is refreshing between breakfast, lunch and dinner service. Great stay and would stay again!

Great Stay – Amazing Staff! Had a fantastic time at this hotel. The buffet staff, beach drink service, and à la carte restaurants were all excellent – friendly, fast, and professional. Special thanks to housekeeping for keeping the room spotless every day. The staff really made the trip memorable. Highly recommend!

Great staff. They really take good care of you. Pool area was excellent. Lots of wildlife around the resort. They do a great job clearing the seaweed before you get out to the beach. Food was very good. The only issue we encountered was one morning asking for assistance at the front desk. The girl name “Julie” and wore a “Linkin Park” jacket which I don’t believe that was her real name since she was reluctant to give it seemed burdened. She gave generic answers without trying. Had a terrible attitude and not very welcoming. We finally asked for someone else who did help us. Aside from that, we had an excellent time there

This resort was beautiful. We got the Priviledged upgrade which was definitely worth it just for the BLoved restaurant. The upselling pressure by the white shirt concierge group was relentless and very frustrating. We already paid a ton of money. Leave it alone already. Food overall was good to excellent. Beach and pool were great. Very clean. It would be great if at an all inclusive if adding a tip option to the overall bill was available. Carrying tip money in your bathing suit is annoying. Most staff were lovely and service was great.

My stay was disrupted by ongoing construction in the same building, which started early in the morning and continued throughout the day — making it difficult to relax or sleep in. The staff seemed more focused on receiving tips than providing genuine service or attention to guests. Food options were very limited, and the snack bar closed at 6 PM. After that, your only option was dining by reservation at the specialty restaurant, which wasn’t always available or convenient. Not the experience I was expecting.

great hotel staff was amazing and kind every morning

The hotel itself is truly beautiful, definitely a jungle destination. However, the food itself was not the best quality, mediocre at best. We shortened our stay due to the rainstorm and horrible weather. The few days we were there, the lights and water stopped working. Transportation to and from the airport was definitely the worst part. It was unnecessarily expensive . Would probably not return, but again the resort itself was truly beautiful.

Restaurants overall were very good. Easy to make nightly reservations up to a week in advance. No buffet at dinner so this was great. Staff were everywhere and very friendly and helpful. Entertainment staff engaged everyone. Small property so evening entertainment options are limited. Exceptional beach! Clean, clear water, fine sand beach. Hotel has plenty of chairs with alot of trees for shade at the beach. Pool is great with lots of chairs and umbrellas, but more limited access to shade directly around pool. Beach and pool towels changed nightly from your room. Overall wonderful and we would go again. About 1-1.5 hr from Tulum Intl airport which was hassle free! So much easier than flying into Cancun.

This property did not meet my expectations. The staff was very rude and was not accommodating. They said that they would place me and my friends in the same building and then ended up making our rooms very far from one another. Upon arriving the first day I spoke to a staff member asking if they could do something special for a friends birthday and, he said I needed to speak to guest services but would need to speak to them when I arrived at the hotel and when I asked to get an email or contact for them because it might not be enough time, he hung up on me and proceeded to hang up on me three more times when I called back stating he had to deal with other customers. The hotels states Tulum, but it is in fact, 30 minutes away from Tulum so that was very deceiving. I should have a look at a map. The hotel also said they had a bar on the beach that closed at 2 AM however they closed at 1:40 the first night that we arrived, which was very disappointing. They also were supposed to give a free welcoming package but then told me that they ran out of bags and I never received it. They also informed me that I would get either a bottle of wine or free 25 minute massage however then proceeded to tell me, I needed to sign up for a membership to receive these perks, which I feel was very deceiving, and they did not provide what this package should have included

The property is great just a heads up about hour and 20 minutes from the airport. Transportation to town is expensive so look into that. The property is beautiful like being in the jungle love the staff and their ability to assist, walk out area straight to the beach.

this is a beautiful resort, but if you can't walk a lot, this is not the place for you. There's a lot of walking. It's beautiful in the forest, but there is a lot of walking and they don't have umbrellas on the beach and when it's really really sunny, you can get sunburnt so be very careful. The beach is gorgeous and beautiful. The sand is white, but there's a lot of seaweed and the waves are not so small so if you want to go in the water a lot, there are lots of waves. The service is great. The only other thing I would complain about is that you have to make reservations for the restaurants yourself and it's a little bit difficult. You have to use an app.

We really enjoyed our time at the Catalonia Royal Tulum. Our expectation for this 4 day trip to the area was to relax and enjoy the time at the beach. This is exactly what we did. Everyone from check in, wait staff, bar tenders, room service and stewards where friendly, polite and went above and beyond. The grounds are well kept and clean. The pool area was great with a swim up bar. The food at the buffet was really good (we never go to an all inclusive expecting great food) and the specialty restaurants were really good also. The grill was our favorite. I did utilize the free room service for coffee in the mornings. We flew into the new Tulum airport and it was about 1 hour 20 minute drive. It cost $194 for round trip transfer. it's about 20-30 min drive either way to get to Playa del Carmen or Tulum so you'll pay about $40 cab each way. Lots of cenotes close by though. The beach was great. We had great clear water the first day and then the infamous seagrass came in the last 2. The team keeps the beach area clean. Loved our stay and would for sure come back.

Beautiful property, but I felt like it could be in Florida or Hawaii. It needs to be a little more “Mexican themed”. The entertainment was lacking. A mariachi band at dinner would’ve been nice. I was there 18 years ago when it was the Copacabana and it felt like Mexico. The only night, was Saturday when they have Mexico night, that it felt like we were actually in Mexico. The beach is one of the best beaches we have ever seen.

When booking through Expedia it said shuttle service to the resort was included, but when getting to the airport they said it was not included and they were asking for an excessive amount of money for a cab to the resort

FOOD was absolutely terrible- had to go offsite to eat- buffet and pool side restaurant was okay but dinners were sometimes so bad we couldn’t eat them. Rauxa show was fun- pool/bars very nice- nice beach (lots of sea weed but they try to keep it picked up) rooms were very basic - decently clean just old. Did find a lizard in the shower on last day. Ordered room service on night one and it never came. Water in room was plentiful and room service came a lot so everything stayed stocked. Resort overall was fine for the cheaper price but would not stay again.

Great beach, staff always helpful. The meals were good, no buffet at dinner though. You have to make reservation through their website for all dinners. Entertainment was nice, dinner at rauxa show was fun.

Some of the best service we have received at an all inclusive. I would not go without the privileged package as it allows you to go to Beloved restaurant which is on the beach and by far our favorite. The steakhouse was also great. The only restaurant I would not recommend is the Italian. The food was not great. Water sports were also limited snorkeling but not much to see, there was kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. They also offered Hobie cat rides, but would not let you take out the sailboat on your own. There are the resorts that allow you a lot more water, fun activities like the Baja principles. The property is about 40 minutes from Talum we enjoyed the ruins. There were a lot of travelers from Europe. The resort had a relaxed and friendly feel I would go back.

Great stay. The activities they provide for guests are super fun! I’ve stayed at many resorts and never had such great activities for guests. All the food at the restaurants were delicious. The buffet food was not good.

Layout of facilities was good...everything around pool. Could have had more food choices...most everything was high-end entrées and snack bar had no real "Mexican" choices.
