Beautiful parador with comfortable rooms and amenities. Staff / service aren’t quite what I would have expected, though — while breakfast is included in the room, if you check in around 4 you won’t be able to get a (required) reservation for breakfast as all times will be booked. Also we tried to reserve a place in their parking garage in advance and were told they would not reserve; when we arrived they had no parking left.

Wonderful building, unfortunately undergoing extensive restoration. Very popular tourist location, as it’s next to the cathedral, the quarter-hourly bells of Which do not cease until midnight, then start again at 4am. Excellent service, dinner and breakfast. Cheap alcohol!!

Everything inside this gorgeous building was perfect. An old monastery, beautifully restored with cloister gardens. And situated right on the main square with the cathedral! That was all perfect. Please be advised that there is restoration occurring on the outside of the building, so it's not so picturesque and there was some associated construction noise.

The hotel was to be a treat for completing the Camino de Santiago. The hotel staff are wonderful and the rooms and hotel are stunning. But I really wish someone would have told me they were renovating the hotel before I booked. It was noisy the hotel has scaffolding around most of hotel which was a bummer. But they did change my room for me after the noise above was intolerable.

The hotel said they would automatically go down when you approach. We ended up parking at a garage about a 5 min walk from the hotel which worked well for us and actually cost less than the hotel parking. Bathrooms were nicely modern but the room itself felt sparse and not updated, perhaps in keeping with the original style. Windows cannot be open to let air in so at times the room smelled musty. Staff were extremely nice and the cafe in the courtyard was a nice escape from the bustle outside. Well located.

The hotel is an excellent property and beautiful in its historic character. Unfortunately for us, it is currently under construction with the entire front facade covered in scaffolding and canvas, completely obscuring the beauty of the exterior. The entrance is through a make-shift passage through the construction zone. Also there was no information provided in advance about how to access the hotel which is in a restricted zone. I had to risk driving where I was forbidden in order to get to the hotel, and that was very nerve wracking. I think they would have provided instructions if I had booked directly with them instead of Hotels.com.

Beautiful historic hotel! Staff is wonderful. Comfortable beds and very clean! The local parking space is very limited so you may have to park offsite but no issues it’s cheaper and very close to the hotel!

Beautiful old building next to the Cathedral. Great staff and fabulous service. The rooms are not very large and although the beds are comfortable the floors creaked so it is impossible to use the washroom without waking up your room mate. A gym would have been nice in a five star property.

The building and the location is totally amazing - best in the city. But the service is arrogant and just not up to standard - and the rooms are worn, with mold in the bathrooms and a slight smell of dampness.

We stayed here at the end of our Camino Portuguese. Our room was clean, spacious, and quiet, with the window look out to the top of the Cathedral. The beds were very comfortable. The only negative is shower water pressure very weak. Breakfast was excellent. Hotel staff were all very professional and helpful. Hotel is located in an excellent location. Strongly recommended..

Like all Paradores it is a stunningly beautiful repurposed historical space. Beautifully appointed. Staff is gracious and efficient. Rooms are the perfect mix of history and modernity. My only complaint is that the beds are very hard. If you are accustomed to a quilt top or memory foam mattress these feel like sleeping on cement. This is not the first uncomfortably hard bed we’ve slept on during this trip, however. Rock hard mattresses seem to be a European hospitality thing.

The room needs an update. Bathroom has been remodeled nicely. Food at the restaurant was okay. There are other restaurants in walking distance that have better food at a moderate price. You are paying for the name “Parador” nothing else. Not worth the money.

This hotel was formerly a Royal Hospital and the structure reflects that. There are 4 cloisters in the hotel. The hotel is on the same plaza as the Cathedral, immediately adjacent. The public rooms are attractive and comfortable. Our individual room was somewhat small and plain - about what you get in a 3*. (And the building is so complicated that it took a couple of tries before we could reliably go between our room and the front desk.) Two restaurants - the "coffee shop" restaurant has good food but was quite noisy. The main dining is very attractive and comfortable but the food was mediocre and the service totally disorganized. Front desk staff friendly and helpful. It was tricky to find (google maps didn't quite get us there and we had to ask pedestrians), valet parking. Internet connection was good when it worked, but it kept dropping out. In any case, this is THE place to stay in Santiago de Compostella, and I would stay there again.

Hotel and location are incredible. This would have been a 5 star review but the staff in the restaurant were awful. Unwelcoming, supercilious and when they got our order wrong, they angrily accused us of being wrong, kept us waiting for the correct meal and offered no apology. A scar on what could have been a perfect stay. All the other staff were great.

The property is beautiful. There is a feeling that can’t be described. Like stepping back in time. Lovely. So clean and well-appointed. The front desk staff were lovely and accommodating. But the bar staff were rude. But not to other people. We were repeatedly ignored. We wanted more than one beer and a water, but the guy wouldn’t stop when we said ‘perdon’ to ask to order another drink. En español. Or to get a bowl of potato chips that everyone else was given but we were not. After check in, we did not feel welcome in the hotel. We live in Galicia and were there for Christmas with friends. We have stayed there before but we won’t again. I don’t think the staff likes Americans. There are other places at Christmas we can stay. It made me sad.

It is a beautiful building and right on the square where you finish the Camino Frances. Also the breakfast and the service as part of the breakfast that is included with the room is very nice. That said - for the price of the room, the staff was hit and miss at the front desk. Had a few good ones a few that needed some client service assistance.

The best hotel stay during my Camino de Santiago walk. Absolutely beautiful, right next to the Cathedral. The hotel is a museum in itself. The rooms are very comfortable with a lot of attention to details. All the toiletries are Eco-friendly. There are refillable shampoo, conditioner and lotion in the shower and bathtub. A well stocked mini fridge as well as an amazing restaurant. The food was excellent.
