La Cusinga Lodge

This property is not for everyone. We traveled in July, there is no air conditioning, or mini fridge in the room. Beach is not easy to access, it is about 20 minutes walk. Very disappointing. The hotel would not give a full refund because my husband had a skin rush after sleeping in the hot and humid room without air conditioning The place is overpriced for what it is unless you are looking for enhanced camping experience. You can’t walk safely outside of the property, there are signs of snakes and other wild life.

This is the second time I've visited La Cusinga and made great effort to get here again. It is a special place, not for the faint of heart. I spent a week alone at Cusinga, nestled in the rain forest. I had a magical week. La Cusinga is a special place but may not be for everyone, especially those looking for a luxury hotel. We are guests in nature!

We loved this place, the staff is super friendly, food is amazing and there are a lot of activities to do at the hotel, it is lovely and we will definitely come back

The view was amazing and staff were very friendly. I did not realize that the rooms did not have A/C, so things were hot the first night (reception closed at 8:00), but they were able to get me another fan the second night l, which made things better. Overall, we really enjoyed the stay which included access to a local swimming hole which was very refreshing. The restaurant was the most expensive meal we had in Costa Rica and to be honest, the food was not bad, but not good. Definitely not worth the money spent. We found food more reasonably priced and better tasting outside the resort. I would strongly recommend this site if you want great views, friendly staff, the feeling of being alone, and don’t mind no AC.

The cottages are very comfortable even though they are not air conditioned. We were surrounded by nature! Breakfast and dinner were excellent!
