The High Line Hotel is well situated near the pier and in a great area to explore New York. The room itself was also nice and spacious for NYC standards. Another positive is that while the hotel does not have its own gym, guests do have access to the fitness center at the pier nearby. Unfortunately, the positives ended there for us. There was no water provided in the room, housekeeping never came during our stay even when the sign was hanged. We had to ask the lobby and she was not pleased because it was at the end of her shift. Also important to know: there is no breakfast offered in the morning. If you want coffee from the café downstairs, expect to wait 30–45 minutes because it’s packed with locals every morning. The hotel also seemed extremely restrictive with towels, which felt odd for the price point. Another concern was that there did not appear to be a mattress protector on the bed, which raised hygiene concerns for us. To make matters worse, we found bugs in the room during our stay, which was extremely disappointing and unacceptable. The most concerning part was when we had to leave early for our flight around 5:45a.m. The security/lobby person was asleep on the couch wearing headphones. From a safety perspective, that is completely unacceptable. Entry doors should be properly secured, with guests accessing the building using room keys and visitors ringing for entry if needed.
