The young lady running registration was slow and apparently not very experienced. She could not get the credit card system to work. The stairs going up to the rooms were poorly lit and in bad need of paint/renovation. Older building therefore older rooms that may have experienced some renovation but strangely laid out and not guest friendly as in no counter space for toothbrush, cosmetics, etc. There was a very wet, shower mat laying on the bottom of our shower stall. The only thing that worked well was the very expensive transportation to the airport the morning we left. €80 for two people. The other positive thing I would note is that it was centrally located in the middle of Rome.

Very old building with renovated rooms. Lots of stairs. Plumbing is a problem with property. No coffee in room and no breakfast options. Dealt with 3 different front desk staff. One was very nervous (maybe brand new). Check in took 30 minutes (4 rooms). The other 2 agents were extremely good and helpful. I don’t think they have a maintenance staff which led to us having to change rooms. Location excellent for restaurants and shopping but it is in a very narrow alley. Street noise a problem late at night.

Rooms have all been remodelled and are very nice, they need to maybe put some money into the entry way stairs as when we arrived we almost cancelled and found another hotel to stay in as we had one look and pretty much went we don’t wanna stay here. When we got the room it was much better! Just the entry way and stair well is very off putting! The rooms themself are great they had lots of room for bags etc they were clean and got cleaned each day. The location wasn’t too bad it didn’t feel to far from things it was an easy enough walk. The staff were all great at helping us organise taxi’s etc.

Also, the photos really don’t show that this is not a hotel but rather a bunch of guest rooms in a poorly maintained building. While the staff was nice, on the day we had to leave and left our luggage to go walk around, there was no one there with a key when we returned. The person who was there didn't have a key and we were stuck waiting. Thankfully, we didn’t miss our train.

We had a very nice stay at Domus Ester. Some reviews were a little dogdy, wich I think is unfair. Its a simple hotel, reception open from 8 am to 21PM. Staff was nice. They store luggage. Checkin is possible out of hours for a fee. No breakfast available. But lots of cafes close by. The reception is now at ground floor, used to be on 2nd floor with the room. The staircase is old and rustic but not dirty. The rooms are very nice. Newly renovated, very clean, and with af beautifull original ceiling.The location of the hotel is really realy good. Nice and quiet street, within walkingdistance of everything. Conclusion: If you need af nice and clean room in a basic hotel, this is really good value for money. Hotels in Rome are generally expensive.

The location near Campo dei Fiori was great as was check in. Be aware the apartment is on the 4th floor (3rd if you’re in Italy) with no elevator. Room was clean and tidy. No functioning kitchen, only a mini fridge. No view. Air conditioning was on the whole time but was barely sufficient. Thank goodness I brought a portable fan. The large jetted tub was non-functional as it had no faucets. On the whole, “adequate” BUT THE WIFI FAILED TO FUNCTION THE ENTIRE STAY despite the property manager’s attempts to fix. They did not offer to refund any of the cost unfortunately.

The hotel has a great location, very close to everything in Rome and easy to walk around. The outside of the building looks a bit old (like many places in Rome), and the hallway to the rooms could use some fresh paint and a deep clean. But the rooms are nice and clean, the staff is super friendly, and overall it was a good stay.

Room was clean. However, the washroom had a very unpleasant smell, coming from pipes or something, which makes the room smell. It helped to close the washroom doors, but I had to put up with the terrible smell each time I went to the toilet.

The property is excellent located. The staffing is very helpful and gives you appropriate attention. They make easy communication. The building is an old building and from outside you could have questions. But the apartments are very spacious, clean and well kept. The only portion that needs attention I think are the bathroom walls. A bleach spraying will clean the spots that need attention. But overall clean and well maintained.

Awful experience. The walls were so thin I heard everything all night. The bathroom had visible mold, and the entire room smelled like sewage. Absolutely would not stay here again.

The room was very small, but we didn’t spend a great deal of time in there. The bathroom was very small. If you are a larger person, you may not fit in the shower. It was clean and in a good area, so that’s all we cared about.

Krista and I had an amazing time in Rome. Donna and Alesia were so helpful. I would stay there again and recommend friends. They are two top notch gals! Really helped us out on my first trip to Italy. Grateful for their service and help!!

While the rooms were nice the building itself was horrible. It needs major repairs to the stucco in the hallways, and had broken windows in the hallway. Also, the photos really don’t show that this is not a hotel but rather a bunch of guest rooms in a poorly maintained building. While the staff was nice, on the day we had to leave and left our luggage to go walk around, there was no one there with a key when we returned. The person who was there didn't have a key and we were stuck waiting. Thankfully, we didn’t miss our train.

The hotel has a great location, very close to everything in Rome and easy to walk around. The outside of the building looks a bit old (like many places in Rome), and the hallway to the rooms could use some fresh paint and a deep clean. But the rooms are nice and clean, the staff is super friendly, and overall it was a good stay.

Room was clean with fresh towels but super tiny as well. My wife and I bumped into each other a lot because it was so small lol. They did a good job of cleaning it daily as well which was nice. Shower was really good but water was clogging a lot unfortunately but we aren't too picky so we didn't mind it. Location was absolutely perfect - it was easily walkable to all the main attractions in Rome! Great restaurants and shops nearby as well. Only the train station was for so we had to uber as we were headed to Amalfi. Staff was friendly and always available if we needed them - it helps that they provide their WhatsApp as well. It isn't an easy hotel to find but thankfully a local helped us find it when we arrived. They should put up some better signage! I would say their pricing is also very competitive so despite being a tiny room we felt it was worth the cost especially because Rome is generally expensive as it is when it comes to hotels. We wouldn't mind staying here again in the future!

This is my second time at Domus Ester Roma - great location, right between Campo di Fiori and Trastevere. Amazing restaurant options! This is an old building and no elevator but is a great value for your money - clean rooms, friendly staff, safe for solo travelers.

Very old building with renovated rooms. Lots of stairs. Plumbing is a problem with property. No coffee in room and no breakfast options. Dealt with 3 different front desk staff. One was very nervous (maybe brand new). Check in took 30 minutes (4 rooms). The other 2 agents were extremely good and helpful. I don’t think they have a maintenance staff which led to us having to change rooms. Location excellent for restaurants and shopping but it is in a very narrow alley. Street noise a problem late at night.

We had a very nice stay at Domus Ester. Some reviews were a little dogdy, wich I think is unfair. Its a simple hotel, reception open from 8 am to 21PM. Staff was nice. They store luggage. Checkin is possible out of hours for a fee. No breakfast available. But lots of cafes close by. The reception is now at ground floor, used to be on 2nd floor with the room. The staircase is old and rustic but not dirty. The rooms are very nice. Newly renovated, very clean, and with af beautifull original ceiling.The location of the hotel is really realy good. Nice and quiet street, within walkingdistance of everything. Conclusion: If you need af nice and clean room in a basic hotel, this is really good value for money. Hotels in Rome are generally expensive.

Room was clean. However, the washroom had a very unpleasant smell, coming from pipes or something, which makes the room smell. It helped to close the washroom doors, but I had to put up with the terrible smell each time I went to the toilet.
