The property was historic and very beautiful. It was quiet and peaceful. The food in the restaurant was very good. Parking was convenient and free. The grounds were immaculate and we were able to walk all around and see the magnificent landscape.

Was handy to dining and tourist sites. Sadly our second evening the hotel hosted a fundraiser. Noise kept us up til midnight and then had noise through the night as the event was cleaned up.

The building and grounds are unique and impressive. It is more of an event venue than a hotel for individual travelers. The room was of good size, with a 3 compartment bathroom with a separate shower, vanity and toilet/tub room but overall the room lacked convenience features of most modern hotels e.g. mini-frig, coffee/tea maker. The king bed could use a new mattress. This double-king room only had 1 chair and nowhere else to sit except on the bed, it also only had 1 bathrobe. Although the staff expressed a desire to please, No mention of guest breakfast when we checked in.,we were only given vague instructions on how to find our room, an alarm panel in the lobby beeped for hours. Be prepared to carry your luggage up a long flight of stairs to get to the level with the elevator.

The story of this lovely castle is interesting & wonderful. Absolutely take the tour! Great guide! My sparkly clean marble bathroom with clawfoot soaking tub was fabulous. High marks for the tub tray & Molton Brown toiletries! The bed & pillows were very comfortable... And the art placed around the room & on the mantel (nonworking fireplace) added a nice period touch. After the awesome driveway, parking was a bit confusing... and the check in was a very sad experience. Check in is 3:00. We arrived at 4:00 - so right in the pocket - In a cramped and dowdy reception office, we were 'helped' by a literally chicken dinner eating clerk who seemed put out that we were there. We carried our bags up the steep but albeit gorgeous entrance stairs (later we discovered on our own that there is a slightly more remote elevator we could have used). A disconcerting start that did not feel elegant or inviting. The stay however was ultimately lovely, dinner at the OHK restaurant was delicious, and the tour worth the time an few extra dollars.

We opted to stay at the Oheka Castle primarily for the "wow" factor. After all, how often does one get to stay in a 1920s faux-Versailles mansion? It definitely did not disappoint on the weird and wonderful front, but it was not entirely what we expected. The mansion was redone from near ruin 20 years ago, but not at anything like museum restoration level. The shelves in the library, just as an example, are stacked with used bookstore castoffs. The curtains and other furnishings in the rooms are OK knockoffs of what they should be, but are already showing their age. The hotel is clearly set up for large events like weddings (and has some nice spaces for that) rather than passing guests. We felt like we were just about the only guests in the place, walking through the echoing halls seeing the occasional staff member and no one else. As a location, Oheka is an island. Other than the neighboring golf course, there isn't anything around it other than houses. The parterre garden at one end of the hotel is a pleasant place to stroll, but once you have done that and walked those echoing halls, you've pretty much run out of things to do. The in-house restaurant was good, as much for the people-watching as anything else. The hotel staff also matched the whole aimed-but-missed-the-target feel of the place. Friendly, certainly, and casual almost to a fault. But they definitely contributed to the amusing -- and bemusing -- nature of the experience of Oheka Castle.

Very beautiful setting with extraordinary grounds. Rooms were nicely appointed and clean. I did not care for the on-site restaurant, again beautiful setting but the food was just average. Reception/check in area definitely needs an upgrade. Staff was very friendly, but check in desk was very lackluster to put it nicely.

Attractive building and grounds. Large rooms; a little dated but fits the character. Good value overall for a weekend in Long Island. Can be noisy on a Saturday night if there’s a wedding. Breakfast is included but is a little rough and ready. Nice restaurant on property but a bit pricey. Very friendly and welcoming staff.

The staff is where Oheka shines. For the price point I would suggest updating the room amenities. Phones from the 90s and TVS from the 2010s really took away from the experience. Please incorporate an in room dining menu either digitally on your tvs or a hard copy on your coffee tables. Carrying drinks and food up and down 1 elevator in the middle of an in house event with a busy restaurant was not pleasant. We had a stroller and had a hard time finding an exit to the reception floor. We were informed prior to our stay that the grounds were going to be off limit as a wedding had already privatized. Understandable but we were still disappointed that there was not an area where other guests could go to enjoy the grounds. The property is wedding focused, gorgeous grounds but the rooms need a little TLC. Special mentions to the amazing staff for their hospitality. Lashawn and Dennis made check in and out seamless. Miquel and Jenny in the Restaurant for their friendly service. Jenny especially who was just off the clock, saw that we were lost and was kind enough to walk us to our destination. Hope to see Oheka again in the future.

I stayed here for my birthday. Her husband didn't know about this place, but he had high expectations because it was Boris's house, which he had seen in Royal Pains. However, since the building is over 100 years old, it looks very old-fashioned and old. There was a smell from the heater and the water was hot and cold. There was no dog option, but it was dog friendly so I took my dog. The dog was charged $200 per day for lodging. But my dog is infected with a fungus and is sick. There is no refrigerator or coffee machine. Even if it was there, I wouldn't have eaten it. There were a few cars there that looked like people were staying there (a lot of the rooms seemed empty) and they gave me a room with a very small window, but it felt like a prison. However, the staff are very friendly. There is no separate parking fee, but you must pay a valet fee. the smell of old carpet A bed that swallows up your waist is quite impressive. Rather eat at the restaurant and take as many photos as you want in the garden and library! Don't sleep here, go somewhere else.

No A/C throughout the hotel for starters. My room smelled a bit like "wet dog" and it was so humid that the bedding felt slightly damp. I expected much more from this. Even checked out a day early because it was so disappointing. They didnt even get that right, way overcharging me for the stay than what was quoted by hotels.com. Seems a bit shady to me on that front. ALSO - you need to dress business casual everywhere... even if just visiting the underwhelming continental breakfast. Crazy rules, not anywhere near a 5 star experience. I wouldnt even give it 3 stars, if we're being honest.

I have dined several times celebrating different occasions at Oheka Castle over the years. This time I decided to stay over night at Oheka Castle just for a getaway. The room was nice. comfortable and.clean. The staff was very friendly and attentive to your needs. The food and atmosphere was excellent. We dined outside this time since the weather was so nice. WE would go back again.

The castle environment was very nice and as expected. If I want visiting in winter time I would have been more inclined to view the surrounding property. Staff was top-tier and friendly. Room was well equipped and clean. Free continental breakfast was average with a nice seating area.

Well, it's a high rated, award winning castle. The staff was nice and helpful. Especially when booking. I'm NOT rating the staff. The rooms need a renovation and are outdated. It's a "historic" castle and not a hyper modern hotel, I know. But it is fool's gold - literally. We paid more than 400 that night. The furniture is just run down, stains everywhere. The bathroom wasn't that clean. The sink was broken. Worst of all was the louver in the bathroom - completely dirty, disgusting. That could be a health issue. That's just a no go for such a high class historic hotel. Breakfast was a basic continental buffet with paper cups at tables with table clothes and a seemingly high class surrounding for tourists. My expectations are quite basic, don't get me wrong. If they'd charge even half of the price I'd maybe rate it better. But what you pay is NOT what you get. You get an overpriced huge, but outdated castle room. You pay for the appearance. Again, I'm just rating the room and the breakfast, NOT the staff. We've been here because of "Royal Pains", it was just nice to be there once in a lifetime. The castle is nice to see and the garden is somehow enchanted. And until we realized the turn down service we thought there's a ghost. The rooms are actually a bit scary. But I don't want to be unfair, so I'll rate it good.

There was no heat and they did not have another option. We had to use a space heater blower which was noisy and very dry air. They were going to not charge me, btw I had my family so we had 4 rooms and 3 of them did not have proper heat. We were offered additional blankets that were old and worn. It was a terrible experience and I would not recommend this hotel. We were stuck there without any service to resolve our situation. A the worst thing was it was Thanksgiving to be spent with our adult children and my grandson. It was not a place I would return to again or recommend.

The grounds and the building are absolutely spectacular. The rooms are getting very tired. When I stay at Oheka, I want an experience. I didn’t - and it didn’t- feel special at all. Hard to find outlets for the phone, the sound machine, etc. Furniture was pretty worn and it seemed like there was limited staff.

We went for a family holiday trip. The castle was such a beautiful setting with attentive and kind staff; and the holiday decorations made the feel even more elegant. Gil and Dennis at the front desk were very helpful with a couple requests we had. Miguel, our dinner server, helped find/modify food choices for our dietary needs. Zena, our breakfast server, was personable and helpful. All of the staff were so helpful with snapping pictures for us. When we ate in the castle restaurant, the castle owner Gary stopped by all the tables to introduce himself and chat a bit. It is evident that his hospitality is carried on by his staff. The room was clean and elegant with a very comfy bed and beautiful bathroom. We are looking forward to returning in warmer weather to get more of the outside, blooming nature experience.

The building and grounds are unique and impressive. It is more of an event venue than a hotel for individual travelers. The room was of good size, with a 3 compartment bathroom with a separate shower, vanity and toilet/tub room but overall the room lacked convenience features of most modern hotels e.g. mini-frig, coffee/tea maker. The king bed could use a new mattress. This double-king room only had 1 chair and nowhere else to sit except on the bed, it also only had 1 bathrobe. Although the staff expressed a desire to please, No mention of guest breakfast when we checked in.,we were only given vague instructions on how to find our room, an alarm panel in the lobby beeped for hours. Be prepared to carry your luggage up a long flight of stairs to get to the level with the elevator.

Beautiful old world property! It felt like Europe! I would definitely stay again! Just a tip try to stay on the 3rd floor because it’s much nicer. We got upgraded because the what wasn’t working in our room on the fourth floor.

Attractive building and grounds. Large rooms; a little dated but fits the character. Good value overall for a weekend in Long Island. Can be noisy on a Saturday night if there’s a wedding. Breakfast is included but is a little rough and ready. Nice restaurant on property but a bit pricey. Very friendly and welcoming staff.

The staff is where Oheka shines. For the price point I would suggest updating the room amenities. Phones from the 90s and TVS from the 2010s really took away from the experience. Please incorporate an in room dining menu either digitally on your tvs or a hard copy on your coffee tables. Carrying drinks and food up and down 1 elevator in the middle of an in house event with a busy restaurant was not pleasant. We had a stroller and had a hard time finding an exit to the reception floor. We were informed prior to our stay that the grounds were going to be off limit as a wedding had already privatized. Understandable but we were still disappointed that there was not an area where other guests could go to enjoy the grounds. The property is wedding focused, gorgeous grounds but the rooms need a little TLC. Special mentions to the amazing staff for their hospitality. Lashawn and Dennis made check in and out seamless. Miquel and Jenny in the Restaurant for their friendly service. Jenny especially who was just off the clock, saw that we were lost and was kind enough to walk us to our destination. It's a beautiful property, walking around inside and outdoors was beautiful. However the room was not as advertised. We reserved a delux room.. which showed a view. It seemed like we got a standard room without even a window. We booked it for our wedding night, we let them know, however we couldn't even get a much of a late checkout. They also mentioned complimentary breakfast at check in, we show up within the time mentioned, but all that was complimentary was coffee. It was beautiful, but it was an underwhelming stay.

There was no heat and they did not have another option. We had to use a space heater blower which was noisy and very dry air. They were going to not charge me, btw I had my family so we had 4 rooms and 3 of them did not have proper heat. We were offered additional blankets that were old and worn. It was a terrible experience and I would not recommend this hotel. We were stuck there without any service to resolve our situation. A the worst thing was it was Thanksgiving to be spent with our adult children and my grandson. It was not a place I would return to again or recommend.

Oheka is a beautiful location. The room and staff were excellent. My criticisms are: 1) I think the food is a bit overpriced 2) At check-in, you are told there is a complimentary breakfast. This is false. There is a complimentary coffee and tea service in the morning from 7:30 to 10 am. They should not make such a misleading statement at check-in. Also, I've been to cheaper but still four-star hotels that DID offer actual complimentary breakfast. If they can, surely Oheka can.

The story of this lovely castle is interesting & wonderful. Absolutely take the tour! Great guide! My sparkly clean marble bathroom with clawfoot soaking tub was fabulous. High marks for the tub tray & Molton Brown toiletries! The bed & pillows were very comfortable... And the art placed around the room & on the mantel (nonworking fireplace) added a nice period touch. After the awesome driveway, parking was a bit confusing... and the check in was a very sad experience. Check in is 3:00. We arrived at 4:00 - so right in the pocket - In a cramped and dowdy reception office, we were 'helped' by a literally chicken dinner eating clerk who seemed put out that we were there. We carried our bags up the steep but albeit gorgeous entrance stairs (later we discovered on our own that there is a slightly more remote elevator we could have used). A disconcerting start that did not feel elegant or inviting. The stay however was ultimately lovely, dinner at the OHK restaurant was delicious, and the tour worth the time an few extra dollars.

Everything was fine except I booked the room and paid thru hotels.com... they ended up charging me again so I got double charged. What troubled me is I called and was told to send an email which I did, and two days later I still did not get a reply so I called back and finally it got handled as they told me it was a computer glitch. That is the main reason I knocked down my score.

The property was historic and very beautiful. It was quiet and peaceful. The food in the restaurant was very good. Parking was convenient and free. The grounds were immaculate and we were able to walk all around and see the magnificent landscape.

Was handy to dining and tourist sites. Sadly our second evening the hotel hosted a fundraiser. Noise kept us up til midnight and then had noise through the night as the event was cleaned up.

We opted to stay at the Oheka Castle primarily for the "wow" factor. After all, how often does one get to stay in a 1920s faux-Versailles mansion? It definitely did not disappoint on the weird and wonderful front, but it was not entirely what we expected. The mansion was redone from near ruin 20 years ago, but not at anything like museum restoration level. The shelves in the library, just as an example, are stacked with used bookstore castoffs. The curtains and other furnishings in the rooms are OK knockoffs of what they should be, but are already showing their age. The hotel is clearly set up for large events like weddings (and has some nice spaces for that) rather than passing guests. We felt like we were just about the only guests in the place, walking through the echoing halls seeing the occasional staff member and no one else. As a location, Oheka is an island. Other than the neighboring golf course, there isn't anything around it other than houses. The parterre garden at one end of the hotel is a pleasant place to stroll, but once you have done that and walked those echoing halls, you've pretty much run out of things to do. The in-house restaurant was good, as much for the people-watching as anything else. The hotel staff also matched the whole aimed-but-missed-the-target feel of the place. Friendly, certainly, and casual almost to a fault. But they definitely contributed to the amusing -- and bemusing -- nature of the experience of Oheka Castle.

A relaxing, quiet stay at Oheka. We took the tour and the history behind both the original and current owners is fascinating! Our rooms were spacious and so comfortable. Food was excellent at the restaurant. We'd definitely love to visit again!

When we ate in the castle restaurant, the castle owner Gary stopped by all the tables to introduce himself and chat a bit. It is evident that his hospitality is carried on by his staff. The room was clean and elegant with a very comfy bed and beautiful bathroom. We are looking forward to returning in warmer weather to get more of the outside, blooming nature experience.

I have dined several times celebrating different occasions at Oheka Castle over the years. This time I decided to stay over night at Oheka Castle just for a getaway. The room was nice. comfortable and.clean. The staff was very friendly and attentive to your needs. The food and atmosphere was excellent. We dined outside this time since the weather was so nice. WE would go back again.

A relaxing, quiet stay at Oheka. We took the tour and the history behind both the original and current owners is fascinating! Our rooms were spacious and so comfortable. Food was excellent at the restaurant. We'd definitely love to visit again!

Very beautiful setting with extraordinary grounds. Rooms were nicely appointed and clean. I did not care for the on-site restaurant, again beautiful setting but the food was just average. Reception/check in area definitely needs an upgrade. Staff was very friendly, but check in desk was very lackluster to put it nicely.

Attractive building and grounds. Large rooms; a little dated but fits the character. Good value overall for a weekend in Long Island. Can be noisy on a Saturday night if there’s a wedding. Breakfast is included but is a little rough and ready. Nice restaurant on property but a bit pricey. Very friendly and welcoming staff.

The castle environment was very nice and as expected. If I want visiting in winter time I would have been more inclined to view the surrounding property. Staff was top-tier and friendly. Room was well equipped and clean. Free continental breakfast was average with a nice seating area.

Aaaamazing! This should be on everyones bucket list! The room I stayed in was so comfortable I extended my stay. This is not like a hotel its do quiet and peaceful you feel like you’re the only person staying here and like royalty. Im looking forward to returning in Spring to see how lovely it is with flowers in bloom. I met my knight in shining armor he was standing by the valet parking door. lol took a great picture with.
