Central hotel close to all the shops and restaurants. The hotel is small and has everything you really need for a quiet stay for a few days. Staff are great and had no issues. Pool area is small but never had an issue getting a lounger and the view is right on the beach. There are also some loungers available on the beach accessed by the hotel.

Absolutely no sea view from room, only looking into adjacent property roof balconies complete with noisy barking dogs; very little reaction from reception on what they could do & hotel was full so no other room available. Excessive charges for using beach sunbed & umbrella. Pool bar closed & area around pool crowded. Only ate breakfast which was very average.

My family and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It is even more beautiful in person than in the photos. Nicely renovated and located in the perfect location to enjoy all of the local amenities such as the beautiful beach, the boardwalk and the shops and restaurants. The breakfast was good with lots of variety. The downfall is that is difficult to find street parking and it can be stressful but once you find a place to park, you don’t really need to leave again. Everything is so accessible by walking. There was a parking garage with minimal spaces. We were not able to get a spot however, I would stay here again and again.

The staff was wonderful, as was the restaurant food and the facilities. Of all the locations at which my wife and I stayed during three weeks in Europe, the Dom Jose was the cleanest and most comfortable. Rui, who worked the front desk, was great, as were all of the staff. The only complaint was that there was no on-site parking, which meant paid parking near the beach or parking a distance from the hotel. Otherwise, we'd visit again.
The staff was wonderful, as was the restaurant food and the facilities. Excellent hotel, location is great next to beach and also great for walking into Vilamoura marina about 2miles away. Food at breakfast was excellent and the gym was very good even though it is not that large as any more than 4 people at a time and it’s too crowded. I will definitely book again.

Great position right on beachfront. Bars and restaurants outside your door. Pool quite small and not much room around but not critical with the beach across the road. Staff especially at bars very friendly. Downside wi-fi not great and breakfast although okay not special.

We were lucky to get a last-minute cancellation for 5 nights in August. On arrival, we checked in and went to our second-floor room with a balcony overlooking the pool. Everything has been refurbished and feels very modern. The room was small but immaculate - a large double bed (made from two singles), a bathroom with a walk-in shower with shampoo and liquid soap. The air conditioning worked well, there was great lighting, power sockets with built-in USB ports: adequate storage space and a safe with a modern wall-mounted TV with plenty of channels. The breakfast was fantastic with lots of choices and good coffee machines. The pool was lovely even though it was very busy. The beds and umbrellas are very close together but that doesn't matter. The area outside the hotel is a pedestrian area, a boardwalk and a private beach area. Two sunbeds and an umbrella cost 16 Euro for a day and towels cost 2 Euro each (plus 20 Euro deposit). The beach and water in August were lovely. There are lots of cafes, bars and restaurants and prices are good. Taxis are wonderful on the Algarve. We took an Uber from Faro airport costing 16 Euro for a 25-minute journey. We took lots of Uber trips into Vilamoura Marina each costing around 5 Euro. Don't bother with a car. We would happily return!

Das Zimmer hat nach Rauch gerochen und auf der Bettwäsche waren mehrere Flecken. Leider keine Parkmöglichkeiten vom Hotel. Frühstück war okay, aber nichts Besonderes. Abendessen in Form von Buffet hätte pro Person 22€ gekostet (statt 27€) - das war uns in Anbetracht der vielen Alternativen und kostengünstigeren Restaurants in Fußnähe zu teuer

Rooms are very small although rooms with a sea view would be a little better as there is a balcony. We could not get a sea view room so there was no place to hang beach towels to dry off. Overall its a nice hotel with a lovely pool and beautiful view out to the sea

Beautiful hotel- we stayed in a small room at the back with a tiny window and a very small double bed. In the description it read that there were double or twin beds so I requested twin beds as I was travelling with my daughter. However we got a double bed.As we were only staying for a few nights it was fine. Although very clean and fresh, space was tight and the view was uninspiring. The rooms at the front are larger with balconies and sea views. As others have mentioned the beds are quite hard. The reception staff are helpful, if not super friendly. Special mention for Beatriz who checked us in and helped us to organise a boat trip in a friendly, efficient manner. The location and views to the front of the hotel are its main selling points. Beautiful vistas and stunning sunsets. Many local bars and restaurants nearby also. It is only 5-10 minutes from Vilamoura marina which is a nice place to spend an evening. Lovely walks in either direction in the promenade directly outside the hotel. We only ate breakfast at the hotel which was good. Overall I would return to the hotel again- for its location and cleanliness.

The hotel is easy to get to from the airport and the back gate has direct access to the beach (not a private area but there are sun loungers available to rent). The room was clean and spacious, with good wardrobe sizing and a decent bathroom. Our only complaint with the room was the aircon which could sometimes be difficult to use with the remote as it wouldn't respond to on/off or temperature switch. The wifi was also a bit tricky - you need to ask for the code at reception and make sure it covers the entirity of your stay, and our code only worked for one device so you may need to get multiple if you are sharing the room. With our stay, we had breakfast included. The selection was excellent, with hot and cold options. The restaurant was big enough for us to sit comfortably near the window looking out to the beach or a bit further in where it was quieter. The staff also looked after us very well, and were super friendly. Overall, we had a lovely stay.

In general the hotel was very nice. Brunch buffet was fantastic. But the rooms were not soundproof. Could hear anything happening in the hallway including just people shutting their doors.

Not “on the beach” as depicted in photos. It is across a street/boardwalk & you must pay daily for shade/chairs and no beverage service. That said, the beach is long and pretty to walk down. Parking is off property and on your own but doable. The hotel has a nice breakfast and the restaurant/bar service is great! KNOW BEFORE YOU GO…the beds are hard/old and the walls are very thin—not private at all—no good to sleep!

We very much enjoyed our stay. There was parking available for our rental car. The room was very spacious and beds were comfortable. The direct access to the beach was amazing. The restaurant wasn’t our favorite but that was the only thing we didn’t like. The wait staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

Pros - Good beachfront location Clean Nice breakfast buffet Cons - Unhelpful, unfriendly reception staff Small, cramped, crowded pool area Charges for beach sun loungers, umbrellas and towels (which I already complained to hotels.com about as this was not mentioned on their website. They said they would make a note of it in the hotel details but I notice that it still hasn't been updated.) This is not a cheap hotel, and to charge guests additional fees to use the amenities (which may or may not be available as they also rent sun loungers to the public) seems outrageous.

My family and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It is even more beautiful in person than in the photos. Nicely renovated and located in the perfect location to enjoy all of the local amenities such as the beautiful beach, the boardwalk and the shops and restaurants. The breakfast was good with lots of variety. The downfall is that is difficult to find street parking and it can be stressful but once you find a place to park, you don’t really need to leave again. Everything is so accessible by walking. There was a parking garage with minimal spaces. We were not able to get a spot however, I would stay here again and again.

Excellent location. Great pool. Go to sleep at night to the sounds of waves on the beach. Location walking distance to many restaurants all on the beach. Staff was incredibly helpful in detailed descriptions of restaurant n activities. Breakfast mediocre but still decent for including in price. Parking was difficult.

In general the hotel was very nice. Brunch buffet was fantastic. But the rooms were not soundproof. Could hear anything happening in the hallway including just people shutting their doors.

Excellent hotel, location is great next to beach and also great for walking into Vilamoura marina about 2miles away. Food at breakfast was excellent and the gym was very good even though it is not that large as any more than 4 people at a time and it’s too crowded. I will definitely book again.

We very much enjoyed our stay. There was parking available for our rental car. The room was very spacious and beds were comfortable. The direct access to the beach was amazing. The restaurant wasn’t our favorite but that was the only thing we didn’t like. The wait staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

We booked this on a bit of a last minute family trip and it turned out to be a delight. The breakfast and dinner are fantastic, all the staff are very friendly and lots of them made a fuss of our children and kept them smiling. Drinks are reasonably priced, our family room was spacious. We had a partial sea view that we were happy with. Room service did a great job tidying up each day. There’s no bad things I have to say about the place, just wish the weather was better but you can’t have it all. We will definitely come back to Dom Jose. Location is fantastic too!
