We were pleasantly surprised by the charm of this motel. The staff were courteous and eager to please. Our room (and the others we saw) was actually a little bungalow with its own tiny garage (clearly built long before cars got so big). It felt private and quaint. Everything was clean, the bedding was comfortable, and we had a huge shower. There were lots of furnishings that looked and felt fresh from a remodel. There was evidence of wear and tear here and there, but considering how inexpensive the room was, it was easily overlooked. They locked the gate at 1:00 AM which helped it feel more secure, not that it felt particularly unsafe. We were in LA for an annual event. We will definitely stay here again next time.

I booked this hotel because of the amazing reviews. Unfortunately, my experience did not align with those reviews. The check-in experience was bizarre. The owner (or manager) asked me to send him a picture of our reservations because they only rely on these external hotel booking sites. They have no computer to check you in. As we were walking up to the room, I noticed a used Kotex on the ground of the parking lot that was there the entire 2 nights we stayed there. The bedsheets and pillows and comforter were dirty and stained. There was hair on the towels and pillows that were definitely not mine. I thought I lost my hotel key at one point and the tall guy that works there was very confused and told me he wasn’t sure he’d be able to get me a new key. The only good things I could say was that it was very close to Universal and it was quiet. The bathroom had some water damage to both the wall and mirror. The toilet would not flush. Upon checkout, they had us sign a physical sheet saying we checked out and asked me to write a comment. I refused to leave a comment. The staff was rude and not attentive at all and I will not be staying there again.
