Hampton Inn Lexington-Historic District

The pool was dirty with bugs and leaves but otherwise it was a fine stay.

I loved this property for its historic background and the preservation efforts Hampton/Hilton has made converting this previous mansion and grounds. The furnishings, common areas, veranda and grounds are beautiful and give a real sense of colonial Virginia, complete with a log cabin in back. The staff is excellent and had good suggestions for eating in the downtown historic district. I had a nonhistoric room, which was up to Hampton’s excellent standards; breakfast in the morning was great for hot and cold items. The property has one elevator in the back; guests located in the back section have to traverse a number of different passageways to get to the lobby or breakfast area. Some caveats for older travelers: as far as I could tell, the only entrance to the lobby requires going up about four steps - not easy in the dark or rain. There also is no pull-into entrance for autos in inclement weather; there is a canopy around back, but it is small. This is consistent with a historic property, but travelers should be aware - it was no fun checking in and unloading in the pouring rain. The surrounding area has 25 mph streets that are one-way into the downtown and historic areas; lighting by lampposts is not the best; parking for restaurants and such is on the street and availability is varied. I would definitely stay here again in earlier fall or summer; it was my bad luck that remnants of Hurricane Helene were affecting travels in the area.

The toilet in my room was "running". It probably need a new flapper valve. I reported the situation to the front desk. Both day s there was a run on coffee at breakfast about 0800. the urns were empty. Several folks were milling around waiting. Replacements did emerge five to 10 minutes later. These are minor things, easliy corrected. I enjoyed the local especially the pool and will plan to return at a later date

We love the location of this property. It would be great if the pool hours extended past 10pm in the summertime. Super convenient to VMI and Main Street

It was okay. Breakfast area cramped and amenities of the pool and the hot tub were only outside.

The place is a dream. We enjoyed our stay and the afternoon at the pool

This particular Hampton Inn boasted having Tesla / EV chargers. What they omitted was that there was a charge $$$ for using the chargers. This should have been made more clear. Most hotels who advertise EV chargers allow their guests to charge for free.

This Hampton Inn is extraordinary...much like the Hampton Inn in Corolla, NC...because they are different. This Hampton Inn has beautiful historic grounds, is located within walking distance of downtown Lexington and W&L. The swimming pool is great. We had the opportunity to see a beautiful rainbow over the mountain view from the rear of the hotel. Loved this place.

It smells terrible and it’s clear there has been water damage/leak issues. The hallway ceiling on the third floor have multiple large stains from leaks and there was a dehumidifier in the hall. Our room smells very bad.

Room was clean but smelled of dog which really detracted from enjoying our stay. Liked the pool and breakfast.

Only good thing was location making it walkable to restaurants and shops. The room and hotel had a musty and moldy smell throughout. It was very difficult to be in the room due to the smell. Very uncomfortable stay.

Everything was adequate. The only issue was the first room that was assigned to us was one glass enclosed picture hanging on the wall was desecrated by a male who decided that the picture would get his DNA which was dried on there. So gross. Husband went to the front desk and requested that someone come and clean it immediately but they changed our room instead. Overall it was a nice area, a pleasant experience and my son enjoyed the hot tub.

Check in was easy. Our room was clean. The shower head was in need of repair. It made a horrible noise while showering. Location is great, easy access to All areas. Breakfast was above average. Overall stay was good. I recommend and would stay there again.

Room musty ( there was a dehumidifier in room when we arrived ) Room loaded with flying insects . No water in morning for showers , front desk said they told us they would give us 2 bottles of water to clean up ! We left …..

The hotel grounds themselves, although small, are really unique and are something you would usually see out of a hotel that sits at a higher price point. The historic manor (with its very own manor cat), massive tree, the roundabout, the entrance driveway going up on a gentle hill - they all work to give the hotel a very unique vibe. The service upon checkin was great, almost like the type of service you’d get at a quaint bed-and-breakfast that was family-owned. The only downside of the hotel was the fact that the rooms don’t have exhaust, so all of the moisture from the bathroom (ie showers) and just general moisture over the years have simply collected in the rooms, giving them a pretty distinct mildew smell. Much of this is outside the control of the ownership, given that the building itself is quite old and likely not outfitted for exhaust venting. Other than that, the facilities were maintained very well and cleanliness was not an issue during our stay! Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

The rooms smell terrible. We used to stay here fairly often as we have a student-athlete at a nearby university and we come up for a lot of games. But as we moved in our daughter this weekend, the two rooms we had both smelled like wet pets. It was so gross. I love my dogs, but I don't need to take them everywhere and this hotel smells like animals. GROSS!

The hotel grounds were very pretty and it is in a quiet, neighborhood type setting. That was a nice start. No interstate or highway traffic to hear or deal with. Everything was very nice, from immaculately clean rooms to very comfortable beds, to a great breakfast assortment. Any staff I interacted with were friendly and professional. All in all it was a very nice stay.

This property is in a beautiful location, close to downtown Lexington. The room was adequate and reasonably comfortable. There was quite a bit of noise from doors slamming between midnight and 3am which kept waking us. The breakfast buffet did not offer many options and we passed on that. The complementary coffee in the lobby was good but I never saw any cookies.

The property is unique having been a plantation and manor house. We stayed in a room with a king and it was clean but a bit dated. The door also opened to the outside so there were flies in the room. Bed was an average comfort level and the free breakfast was standard. The mountain views surrounding the property was lovely and it was a short walk to downtown Lexington.

We stayed one night in a historic room. It was gorgeous and was such a treat for more history teacher husband. The staff was friendly and kind and the main house where we were staying was spotlessly clean and even had a fresh clean smell. Our room was large with a gas fireplace, period correct furnishings and a huge bathroom. We will definitely be back.

Clean room, comfy bed. Noise from dehumidifier was annoying. Apart from that it was a perfect visit in a great location.

Most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever experienced in a Hampton.

A truly unique Hampton Inn. The property is a historic building which has been thoroughly updated and modernized. The rooms are spacious and clean. Beds are comfortable and the room was quiet. Parking is plentiful and convenient.

Flushing the toilet. Took forever! And bed too! Soft! Needs to be firmer.

Great experience. Good breakfast as you would expect from any Hilton and free cookies in the lobby. Room was nice and clean with a great view of the grounds. Had an issue with our refrigerator and staff was nice enough to go to a grocery store and replace our milk no questions asked!

Love this hotel! Hot coffee, water bottles and cookies on check-in made it extra special after a long day of travel!

When I booked the room through Hotels.com, I was not notified that the room was on the second floor and there was no elevator available. This was a significant issue for us since my wife has health issues that make stairs a problem for her. The staff at Hampton Inn went above and beyond in helping us by making a first-floor room available for the second and third nights of our stay. They even moved our luggage to the new room for us! Without their assistance, our stay would have been much less enjoyable. In the future, I will probably book through the property directly to avoid issues like this one.

Nice historic hotel. Had a great feel about the property with beautiful grounds. I messed up my reservation and only booked two nights instead of three but Patrick was so good about getting me the extra night and allowing me to stay in same room. The water pipes are a bit loud when turning the shower on, and they don't sweep off open third floor walkway, they offered tea for an option at breakfast but they also need to include herbal tea. Overall it was a great stay.

Perfect location to downtown

We would definitely stay here again. It was quiet and conveniently located - within walking distance to downtown Lexington and it was only a short drive to Natural Bridge Park, the Virginia Safari Park and Devil's Backbone Brewery. Loved drinking our coffee out on the veranda in the morning, enjoying the view!

I loved staying at the Hampton Inn in Lexington, VA. The room was very comfortable and clean. breakfast was amazing and Donna , who staffed breakfast, went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. She was delightful. Check in was smooth and we loved the facility. It is elegant and classy.

Everything was excellent, except the breakfast. The quality was very poor. Even the hot part of the breakfast was bad. The juices were more than 50% water. 1 hr before the end time, the milk pot was empty. The service person saw that and went away. Very bad experience with a family with kids.

Super location. Easy walk to town. Two downsides- hot tub not open as advertised and the “free” breakfast was literally the worst EVER. Cannot call it food, everything was gross. Powdered eggs, prepackaged everything. It would be better to offer nothing at all- or just have fruit and cereal

Rooms ok. Breakfast was terrible... oatmeal like almost solid, coffee blech, sausage, eggs.....not worth even eating. The front desk person was pleasant but really I would not stay here again, not worth it.

The room. Pool and jacuzzi were okay. The breakfast was clearly prepared without benefit of a kitchen. No fruit, only cereal, white bread, pre-made egg product omelettes and waffle machines.
