Wonderful 50s styled motel in the woods. Service was 5*. Only problem was the hot tub was down.

Beautiful property and excellent customer service. Lots to do on property. Mini golf, swimming pool, arcade, river access! Stayed in the cabin and was not disappointed. All the employees were kind and very helpful with any requests.

I thought the property was just fine we enjoyed our stay immensely and the pool was great hot tub wasn't working but that didn't matter we really enjoyed the area

Accueil super sympa. Situation au cœur du pays des séquoias excellente. Piscine bienvenue quoiqu’un peu froide. Mini golf et activités gratuites super sympa. Les petits lodges en bois sont très mignons. On a beaucoup aimé.

Enormous hot tub (converted kiddie pool). Isolated area but on the Eel River - beautiful. Older property. We had a nice patio.

Basic camping motel. We had a good stay except the bed was super hard and the sofa bed was terrible. The pool was good and the hot tub was good.

This is a great value for the price. It's a, older, homey little resort with a great pool and super-friendly staff. Very laid back with pets allowed. They have fire pits available and we stayed in one of the hotel rooms where we were able to have a fire right out the back patio from our room. Families were playing on the lawn and the kids were perfectly safe to run around well into dark, swim in the pool, and have fun without worry of cars or strangers. I would definitley come back!

We only stayed one night but, had fun playing miniature golf and swimming in the pool. Very kind and helpful staff and great proximity to south entrance to Humboldt Redwoods.

This is an amazing property. It was beautiful and quiet. We stayed in cabin 1 and could see the river from our porch. Easy river access as well as a sauna. The sweet lady at the front desk was very accommodating and gifted us a bag of ice when we ran out. The cabin we cute and quaint, with basic cooking necessities. It was just the relaxing break we needed. Can’t wait to plan my next trip back!

This was our second time staying at Dean Creek Resort in one of their adorable "tiny house" cabins, so clearly we like it well enough to be return guests. The location is outstanding, right at the beginning of the Avenue of the Giants. It's conveniently located right off HWY 101, yet feels secluded and natural, set in a redwood grove beside the Eel River. It has some great amenities like swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, playground, and amphitheater, and the camp store is convenient for basic necessities and a few small souvenirs. We love that they're dog-friendly, too! This time we did encounter a few issues, which is why a star is knocked off. For such a small space (I'd estimate maybe 250sf) the cabin we were assigned had a lot wrong. The rolling barn door to the bathroom was off its track and almost fell on me, and neither the microwave nor the hot water heater were functioning. Staff members were great though, and took quick action to remedy the issues as best they could. Only the hot water situation could not be swiftly resolved, so they gave us the key to the empty cabin next door so we could shower there. Other than those hiccups we had a lovely stay in a beautiful and serene setting. On balance yes, we'd return a third time for the location, charm, and to support a quirky, homey-feeling, family-operated small resort. I'd take that over a soulless chain hotel any day of the week.

So, if you have ever seen Friday the 13th, this place looks like the inspiration. While the lady who runs the place was very nice, she has 50 cats running around the place and left work which closed up shop literally as I drove up. Luckily she was there. When I went to my room, i walked through several cobwebs and the room felt like a sauna. It smelled of teenage sex and cat piss. The furniture was circa 1967, and I mean literally junk back then. I went to open the window and the window fell out of the sill. Luckily I caught it. After trying to fix it for 10 minutes, I had to basically lean it against the opening. On the backside of the room they has sliding doors to a 'patio'. I tried to open that and it also fell off the tracks. Imanaged to fix that and closed it. The whole place was falling apart. The toilet rocked when I sat on it and I skipped trying to take a shower - wasn't going to risk that. Tried to take my dog down to walk along the river. The reason I booked here was to be able to do that. Well, the whole riverbead is a giant rock landscape of hell. No foliage, no real river access, just no someplace I would spend any time at, which defeated the purpose of staying there. SKIP THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. What a joke. I am just glad I wasn't murdered and eaten by cats.

This was a nice and clean hotel. It was close to the places we wanted to visit and the front desk staff was very helpful at directing us for sightseeing and dining.

There were some old parts that were not clean but the hosts were kind and good.

The staff are very welcoming and accommodating! Rooms are clean and comfortable. We travel for work and will continue to stay at this location when in town!

Room smelled like a wet dog (I do love dogs). Felt unclean and crawly while there. Bed very uncomfortable.

Lisa at Dean Creek was wonderful. She immediately made us feel at home. Dean Creek is basic, the room was very clean, the area was very quiet and we felt safe. I would recommend Dean Creek.

This place was a pleasant surprise! Loved my little room and back porch, which was a whole field where you could see volleyball, mini golf, the pool, and more! Fire pits / grill behind each room! I went through on a business trip and I wish I could have stayed longer and watched more campfires burn! it was great! Could have been a little more thoroughly cleaned. However, still darling and can't wait to go back!!

We had trouble with the shower. The faucet did not work correctly, and we could not turn off the water.

Pros: Neat lil property with mini golf, other amenities and access to river. Room was spacious and the check-in with gentleman was efficient and welcoming. Cons: Front office smells of cat urine. Beds are hard. There was a rude older lady that barked at me and my husband as we walked our leashed dogs on the property. She assumed we were NOT guests, then accused us of not mentioning our dogs at check-in. All not true. She demanded to know which room we were in, we told her and she said, ok that is a pet friendly room. Then spun on her heels and walked back into the office. She was the opposite of a gracious host. She definitely soured our stay.

Was cheerfully greeted by the owner upon check in and went to my spacious suite. Looked out the back patio to a large green area of beautiful countryside. Beautiful and quiet.

Nice room for a night or two (I was passing through on my way to Oregon from So Cal). I was in room 10. It felt spacious, especially travling alone. High ceilings with wood beams gave it a nice rustic feel. There is Laundry on one side and public bathroom (for the pool area maybe) on the other, so no direct neighbors to speak of (room had its own shower)… it was quiet. Very friendly staff. Pod coffee and tea in the room. Patio was sufficient. It had a table with a couple chairs and it was nice to chill with a drink after a long day on the road and just gaze out over the grass into the mountains. I’d stay here again.

We had a great time with our dogs. Our room had a nice kitchenette and patio-- very comfortable.

We stayed here for one night in transit. The beds were not as comfortable as at similar places, but the property was very quiet, which we appreciated. The highlight was the great coffee machine with a nice variety of options.

This is a cut little hotel just south of the avenue of the giants. The staff are very friendly and you are basically staying in the middle of the forest right off highway 101. The rooms are cozy cabin style, not fancy but comfortable.

Everything about this place is excellent except for the bed and low water pressure in the shower.

We loved our stay here. Super friendly check in and very helpful. Old school motor lodge with cabins and camping. Some things are a bit dated and not everything works perfect but very comfortable and welcoming feel to the place. Definitely will be coming back again many more times.

Nice, nice people. Rooms were just fine -- no issues at all. Comfortable bed and large rooms. We got 40 miles away and my wife realized she had forgotten her purse -- called them and they instantly retrieved it with me still on the phone. We drove back and picked it up and they wouldn't take a nickel for ther kindness. One note, don't try to get there via Garberville exit -- that is the long way. Take the Redwood Dr. Exit off 101

The facilities are old school, but everything is cared for and functional. The staff is so friendly and helpful. I had an issue with my car and they offered me tools, gear, and help if I needed it, above and beyond.

Checking in at 5:40 on Saturday…office was closed! Spent a lot of time pressing the bell before somebody came! The cabin was very small and rustic, not deluxe!

Lovely place in the Redwoods. My 2nd time here, I stayed in a cabin. Adorable and equipped with everything you need! The lady who runs it is friendly and helpful! This is my place when visiting the Redwoods!

Wonderful staff, river access, beautiful trees

Lovely location. My dog enjoyed the walk to the river! Loved the sliding door to a nice patio with table and chairs. The views were so nice.

We arrived late and only stayed one night. It was a combination of an RV park and motel lodging located adjacent to a river outside of town so it was away from any amenities. There was a pool and mini golf on site. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. A new shower head would be a cheap improvement.

Check in was super easy. We stayed in a cabin and really liked it. The river is super easy to get to and very close. We were able to have a campfire. Everything you need in a kitchen was available. The linens smelled clean. A/C in cabin worked well. Wi-Fi worked well. The bathroom door is kinda hard to use. It helped to push down when closing and lift up when opening. The tv was glitchy so we didn’t use it. Overall it was a great stay and we’re already trying to plan for a trip back.

Cute cabin and lovely to be on the river. Nice pool and spa. Cabin was very small and no bathroom sink. But for one night it was fun. Groceries and food just down the road so very convenient.

We had a great time with our dogs. Our room had a nice kitchenette and patio-- very comfortable.

Easy check in. The cabin is clean and nice and stocked with essentials. Very short walk to the river.

We loved this funky spot along the 101! It has been in business since the 30s, and the woman who checked us in was nice to chat with and learn some history about. Our cabin was cute & comfy & nice to be able to cook our dinner & breakfast in their little kitchenette. The area around, with the tent sites and RVs and little motel, were just what we needed for a night's stay. It was pleasant to hike down into the creekbed that had some water in it even at this hot time of the year. The skies were smoky due to a fire further east that was raging, but a nice little spot anyway.

The hotel is not fancy but clean and quiet. Office staff was super friendly and helpful. Although there are no restaurants around the resort they gave us helpful suggestions on restaurants fairly close. Great experience. Would definitely go back.
