Convenient nice hotel in the heart of Alesund. We stayed 2 nights on our 2 week trip around Southern Norway. Highly recommend the Green Garden restaurant in the hotel - not cheap but the food is excellent. Egon is a cheaper option right next door or there are plenty of other options within walking distance. We parked in the Aksla underground parking with is easy to drive into and you can surface either next to the hotel or directly in hotel.

The hotel is immaculate and very ornate! There is a 'NCP' type of car park (under the Scandic Parken Hotel) only 30 seconds walk from the hotel and an overnight cost is 250 krone which is very convenient. I didnt eat in the restaurant however the food looks great at other times, especially at breakfast.

Great hotel in excellent location. The hotel restaurant is very nice with excellent staff. An indoor outdoor space where you could sit all day. Nice breakfast. The hotel owner was making cappuccino one morning. Very nice gentleman explaining the history of remodeling the building to create the hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel 1904!! The staff was friendly and so very helpful, especially after we were given a room with two twins instead of a queen. The hotel itself is gorgeous, with beautiful clean rooms and a lovely dining area for the breakfast buffet. We loved the area around the hotel - very walkable and close to many city highlights. All around, one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in! We hope to be back one day!

There might not be a more perfect hotel in Alesund. Centrally located in the heart of Ålesund, walkable to everything, this impeccably designed property, with all its art nouveau charm, was our favorite part of the city. The rooms are updated with classic modern Scandinavian design and the entire hotel is impeccably clean. The breakfasts were second to none in a warmly lit, inviting dining room. Like most hotels, no air conditioning, but the room was still comfortable. Can’t recommend this hotel strongly enough.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean, breakfast was great, restaurant for dinner was about a 8/10 and the ambiance was calming and tastefully done. House keeping missed a few things and was very late one day (they were still in our room at 5pm when we returned to get ready for dinner). All lightning in the room is automated to two switches and cumbersome to use.

I had a wonderful stay at hotel 1904. The hotel is very nicely designed and pay attention to every details. Room amenities are well maintained and clean, great service from front desk to house-keeping. They are super helpful and welcoming. The hotel surrounding is safe and convenient, with plenty nice restaurants, Cafe and bar options nearby. It locates in the city centre which close to bus stops or cruise pier. The hotel breakfast offers wide range of food options, all are fresh and delicious. I would recommend to stay here if you plan a trip in Ålesund.

We wanted to like this hotel so much but it just wasn’t it for us. Pros: Bed was comfortable, hotel itself is beautifully decorated. All the staff are friendly. Green garden is the restaurant located inside the hotel, food was very good. Cons: The design of the bathroom is basically nonfunctional. There was only a sink with no place to put toiletry. A shelf would be useful. Also, the shower is only half covered by a glass door which is fine in some cases. The water pressure is good here so water is shooting out, making the floor very wet after a shower. Overall, the design and functionality of the bathroom could be significantly improved

Great style and service at this chic European hotel. Stay here! Location was amazing, rooms were generous, style was great, shower had amazing pressure (we did have to squeegee), beds were good (not amazing), rooms were quiet. Ice cream across the hotel is seriously amazing. Drape around the corner and down the street was the best coffee shop and lunch place. We would definitely stay here if we came back!

Hotel 1904 is a unique place to stay. The property is a wonderful mix of historic building and modern furnishings. I loved my room! It was spacious and comfortable and I especially liked the armchair by the window and the Nespresso machine and kettle. If you don't want to make your own coffee, the Green Garden restaurant/cafe has a lovely seating area, both indoor and out, where you can have a cake or a meal. I thought the breakfast buffet was one of the best during my two weeks in Norway.

Hotel is all over nice. Breakfast is really good and WiFi is super fast. Great location in the center of the town. Staff is very friendly and helpful. However, one area is bad is the bathroom. It has a tiny sink with no place to put glass or toothbrushes which makes it very unpleasant to use. For over $329/night, I would expect something better. Next time, I would book with other hotels in the Neighbourhood.

Hotel 1904 is a beautifully renovated older building. The interiors are modern and very functional. There is quite a bit of shopping near by. The breakfast buffet isn’t as good as other hotels in Norway. For example, there was no omelettes if you wanted eggs. Just scrambled eggs only. We had early starts on all of our stay there and most often that meant only drip coffee. Unfortunately they didn’t have an automatic machine for a cappuccino. The front desk staff were very friendly and gave us a lot of details locally. One comment on the rooms particularly the design of the bathroom. They are openly designed with a folding glass to act as a barrier for the water splashing from the shower. I personally didn’t mind this but it did result in the entire bathroom being wet once the kids got done showering.

Room to cluttered, great big plant pot in alcove, which stopped effective use of area. Rug on floor was trip hazard in night. Far too little storage / shelf space in bathroom for toiletries. Room layout is aimed at image rather than function.
