Fantastic beach side hotel. Wonderful beach for ocean swimming and a great pool with plenty of room to sit poolside. Fantastic breakfast, silent rooms for sleeping. Very large rooms as well.

This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. It was the type of hotel experience one wants on vacation. When you see the pictures of this place on the App/website a daydream about your upcoming vacation, the reality is way beyond what you can imagine. The grounds are well kept, the view of the ocean and the surrounding landscape are amazing. It is a great sanctuary and base camp for adventures on the island. 20 minutes from Ponta Delgada, 25 minutes from Furnas, 30 minutes from Ribeira Grande, and roughly 60 minutes from Sete Cidades. Breakfast was great, they had everything. Spa, gym, rentals, and a nice cocktail bar. I can’t wait to come back.

Such a beautiful location right on the water. With stunning views of the coast and a black sand beach within walking distance, this hotel was the perfect start to my first time visiting the Azores. Staff was excellent. Pool was wonderful as well as location.

Sauberes Zimmer, Personal sehr freundlich, Pool ruhig und sauber, Strand in unmittelbarer Nähe. Ich hätte mir gewünscht auch liegen und Schirme für den Strand ausleihen zu können oder z.B. sowas wie Stand up Paddel, schnorchelausrüstung, surfboard oder ähnliches. Frühstück gibt es ab 07:30 bis 11 Uhr. Hier hätte ich mir 7 Uhr bis 10:30 Uhr gewünscht, da manche Ausflüge in ponta Delgada bereits um 8:30 Uhr beginnen und es mit anreisezeit dann knapp wird. Toller Ausgangspunkt für die gesamte Insel. Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Urlaub und würden wieder kommen. :)

The hotel is off by itself - need to drive to get anywhere. The shoreline, nature are beautiful. There is a beach a few minutes walk away as well as pools; we didn't swim since it was a little chilly in late June. Parking can get a little tight, so cars are lining every road on the property - make sure you are comfortable parking in tight spaces.

Hotel is on a gorgeous piece of property overlooking the ocean with easy walking access to beach with lifeguards and a small restaurant. Hotel rooms are large. However, hotel itself is very dated and is in need of updating (everything from furniture in lobby to fixtures in rooms to gym). Not a 4 star hotel as described.

Nice beach front resort hotel with large outdoor pool and pool bar. Restaurant on-site.

We enjoyed our stay.The reception staff were very helpful and friendly.. Our room was excellent and the views from our balcony were fabulous.The bathroom ought to provide shampoos and the combined shower/hair wash was slightly disappointing. There ought to be coffee and tea making facilities in the bedroom and a properly stocked mini bar. The cleaning and upkeep of the room was very good. Breakfast was good although it would be nice to have fresh coffee . Shame that only offer buffet dinner in evening as only a few decent restaurants in the area for which a car is required. The young lady Marta was also helpful with daily suggested trips and visits. Overall very enjoyable and would definitely go back. San Miguel is a beautiful island.

The resort is fantastic. The property was so clean and the staff was super helpful and pleasant. The location is amazing.

Our stay at the Pestana was outstanding. The room was huge, super clean and just perfect for our stay. The breakfast was absolutely delicious every single morning. Everyone who was working made us feel welcome, answered our questions, and just was overall so nice. HIGHLY recommend this hotel!

Einzigartig war das riesige Bett und der Ausblick aufs Meer Nicht so sauber war es auf unserem Tresor und die Mini Bar war leer

The location is lovely but I do not think I will stay there when I return to the Azores. The last night I was there I found small ants in the bed. I was not happy with the attitude of some of the front desk staff and although when I spoke up the management did apologize, it still left a sour taste in my mouth. The view was spectacular but there is no coffee making provisions in the rooms. One must pay 7 euros a day for a hot water machine. I do not think this rates a for star rating.

Das Hotel liegt eher einsam an einem langen Badestrand. Von den schönen, geräumigen Juniorsuiten gegen Westen hat man eine tolle Aussicht. Es fehlen aber Kleinigkeiten. Von einem Viersternehotel in dieser Preisklasse erwarte ich eine Flasche Wasser, Bodylotion und einen Tee/Kaffeekocher im Zimmer. Leider haben das Dampfbad und die Sauna keine Dusche in der Nähe. Dafür wird verlangt, dass man in der Sauna Badekleidung trägt :-)) Das Essen war sosolala.... Ältlicher Fisch, Schweinestroganoff mit Fertigsauce.... Am Service ist nichts auszusetzen.

This is a very nice place to stay - huge rooms, beautiful views of a black sand beach and turquoise water - we fell asleep to the sound of the waves crashing every night. The staff are super friendly and helpful!! Breakfast was included and there was always something one could find to eat. The coffee seems to contain chocolate - not great, but we took it as a peculiarity and went with it. We never ate lunch or dinner there. Dinner was always a buffet style and reviews hadn’t been great. We like to have vinho with dinner thus don’t want to drive - the beach bar a short walk away served us well - basic food and drink, but very affordable and hit the spot for a couple of nights. Very good restaurants are 5-10 minutes drive away (Casa do Abel is highly recommended with a reservation!) The pool area is lovely and has its own bar too. The grounds were immaculate. I found this hotel to be very peaceful. This hotel is a beach resort which harkens back to the past. I loved the feel, and would most definitely go back myself, however, if you happen to be someone with mold/dust allergies, I’d be hesitant to stay as there is carpet everywhere. Carpet that has been there awhile…replacing this would be a huge step forward for the hotel. The beach was one of the most beautiful we saw in the azores…big waves, excellent surfing, but lots of people going into the very warm water. We found this hotel a great spot from which to visit the island.

Ruhig am Strand gelegen, hatten wir ein Zimmer mit Meerblick. Das Zimmer war geräumig und zweckmäßig eingerichtet. Es fehlte an Möglichkeiten, Badesachen zu trocknen und seine Koffer zu deponieren. Auch ein Schrank ist nicht vorhanden. Das Zimmer hätte eine Renovierung nötig. Die Sauberkeit war in Ordnung. Das Frühstück war in Ordnung, es fehlte aber an Abwechslung und Auswahl. Insgesamt war der Aufenthalt schön.

Only downside is the food is buffet and supper was expensive for a buffet where we didn’t eat much of anything. Lots of restaurants close by if you have a car. Air conditioner wasn’t working. I would still stay again, staff, room size and location!

If you want to visit the island of San Miguel this is an excellent option. The hotel is not brand new but it is very nice, lovely ocean view, quiet and rooms are very spacious and bright. Staff is extremely friendly. Hotel is well located for all key spots in San Miguel but you do need a car to get around. The beach at the hotel is very nice.

Big, spacious room (suite) and the oceanfront view didn’t disappoint. The breakfasts buffet choices were great. We had a comfortable stay.

Incredibly beautiful. Unbeatable views. Did have some issues with the room (TV remote didn’t work which had all of the amenities listed and the phone also didn’t work well - didn’t get the best assistance with that) but otherwise the staff are incredible and so helpful. Would definitely come back.

The hotel was very clean however we had some concerns with the air conditioning being very low in the room but despite asking 3 times to have someone look at it to let us know if this is normal they didn't follow up with us on this which left me feeling very unvalued.

Very outdated for the nightly price. Only one elevator was put in use maybe trying to save on electricity. Overpriced beverages and be prepared to pay €4.5 for a small bottle of water or Coca Cola. Also, very outdated air conditioning system. Nights were very hot in the room although the AC was running for 24 hours nonstop.

This is an excellent hotel. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was roomy and well laid out. The bathroom was the best hotel bathroom I've seen in decades -- enough counter space, 2 sinks, things arranged in sensible ways (I'm convinced that most hotel bathroom designers have never stayed in a hotel!). The breakfast buffet is excellent with something for everyone (except no chocolate sprinkes for the Dutch). Make sure your rate includes breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful. The towel system means availability of towels for the beach or the hot pools. The grounds are pleasant -- we saw the uniquely Azorean daylight bat flying out near the tennis court. The beach is very close. As others have commented, the location is isolated and you will need a car, but it is quite central on the island.

Personal war rundum freundlich und hilfsbereit auch bei speziellen Wünschen. Wifi war stabil und gut. Unsere Suite war groß und sauber und einen wunderschönen Ausblick auf das Meer und einen Balkon ( trotz Bergblick). Begehbare Schränke und Ankleideraum. WC und Bad und Duschkabine getrennt und in Marmor, groß und sauber mit 2 Waschbecken. Frühstücksbüffett war sehr Variantenreich und extrem lecker. Eine Servicekraft hat nach Wunsch Frühstückseier frisch zubereitet. Frühstücksraum wurde in Wintergarten und Terrasse . Freizeitaktivitäten waren zahlreich wie Sauna, Dampfbad, 2 Pools, Welness, Tennis, Billiard, Tischtennis, Spielzimmer, usw. Schöne Lounges über das Hotel verteilt Eigener Zugang zu einem Strand. Schöne Grünanlage mit eigener Kapelle. Ruhig gelegen und mit eigenen abgesicherten Zugangstor. Kleiner Kritikpunkt: in diser Hotelkategorie sollte vielleicht mal überlegen einen Kaffeeservice anzubieten, da der Kaffee aus Automaten etwas ungenießbar ist. Es war schade dass unsere Lunchpakete vergessen worden waren, obwohl wir mehrmals an der Rezeption waren. Alles in allem kehren wir gerne zurück

Truly a wonderful holiday! The hotel was quiet and relaxed and in a beautiful location. We loved listening to the sound of the waves as we went to sleep. The hotel staff were fantastic- they were always ready to help and were so kind and welcoming. The beach was a lot of fun to play in, and the bistro next door also had really good food.

This hotel was located at a nature preserve so the location was spectacular!

I loved the location, which was so close to the beach, that you could hear the sound of the waves. It was breathtaking at sunrise and sunset. The staff was very nice and tried to help with food restrictions (although there were some diffeculties with the understanding of what food is really vegan (e.g. eggs in pasta, butter on bread. Please ask twice to be sure. ;) ). The hotel is in a quiet region but close to the airport and you can start a hike nearby. I would recommend the place without hesitation!

We were initially given an accessible room without a decent view - we asked to be moved to a sea view room and had to pay extra for a different room type. However the room was good when we moved. Food was not good at all - all buffet service but not replenished regularly and not of good quality- this applied to both breakfast and dinner.

L’hôtel est très bien situé et la vue sur la plage est incroyable. Les chambres sont très vastes et en cours de rénovation. Très bonne literie et très bon équipement. Le personnel est accueillant sans plus. Le vrai moins est la partie restauration qu’il vaut mieux éviter

Fabulous view and convenient location; interior needs a serious overhaul; dining was not great but the cafe nearby on the beach was excellent.

Stayed 5 nights at property. Beautiful beach and sunsets! Pool and outside areas are very well kept. Hotel looks just like the pictures! Staff is extremely friendly and polite. The only area the hotel didn’t meet my expectations was in the food. Breakfast is okay… same exact breakfast every day. A couple of days fruit tasted funny… I dinned once at hotel, did not enjoyed the buffet. On the bright side, great restaurants within 20 to 25 minutes driving distance. Overall, I enjoyed my stayed. As I said, food wasn’t great, but everything else and everyone in the hotel were excellent!

It was absolutely fabulous!! Rooms, staff, location, views!! Only thing I didn’t like was the restaurant food in the evening. Just ok. Other than that. Great! A
