Penmere Manor Hotel

Not enough seats for everyone at breakfast, had to wait 20 mins for coffee, which was then tasteless. Menu was varied and good choice, but attracting staff to order it was impossible, then order was wrong when arrived. Room was dated, but clean and functional. Gym and pool area needs some money spending on it. Could be a splendid place if investment allowed, but with so much other local competition not sure what it’s usp would be.

We loved this hotel. My 6 year old son and I stayed for 2 nights. Our room was gorgeous with a huge window and sea view. The pool and gym were pretty much empty each time we visited it was like having our own private facilities. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The staff were lovely. Sue sewed up my son’s toy dog then came and found us at breakfast to give it back to my son. Will was very professional when the room next door to us had some unsavoury characters that needed to be ejected in the middle of the night and we were refunded some of our fee to compensate for the trouble. The cleaners were so friendly and always stopped for a chat with my son. The only problem is that the WiFi didn’t work in our room so I wasn’t able to get any work done after my son’s bedtime.

Lovely setting and quieter than central Falmouth. We had a nice sea facing room, which was spacious. It was good to have access to the pool, sauna and gym. It is an old property, so some aspects are a little tired. That being said, I would definitely stay there again. It was great value.

Huge family room, large bathroom with two sinks, handy for kids. Really good staff, everyone we met was friendly and helpful. Loved the pool, large linge and breakfast options.

Lovely period hotel, the pool area needs attention, tiles missing in pool, steps down badly cracked, but nevertheless useable. We stayed in room 23 which has a false window, that has frosted glass and overlooks the hallway. Unfortunately the hall lights are left on all night, a given there was only a blind, did not make the room dark, perhaps a pair of curtains would help. Staff were lovely, both reception and young man waiting on Sunday evening. Beautiful well kept grounds and enough pluses that we have booked again. Our comments are constructive criticism, and no malice is intended.

This hotel needs a real uplift before they welcome more residents. Standouts are: - No heating in room - Mould in the bathroom - Stains all over the carpet - Lack of electrical points in room - Poor lighting in the room - Rust on gym equipment - Black mould and grime around swimming pool. - Damp smell walking around hotel - Lack of maintenance and generally run down Positives: - Nice breakfast and particularly liked the fried eggs - Very friendly staff; Chloe in particular.

Overall we had a lovely stay. However, there are areas of the Hotel that are definitely tired and need updating. Initially our room was very disappointing, threadbare carpet, broken bath panel, and tap came off. Luckily reception were able to upgrade us to a better room, which was a lot nicer and more comfortable. The communal areas were good, staff very attentive and friendly. Good outside space. Swimming pool, sauna area again need some attention and upgrading, but it was nice to have the facilities.

One of us is a wheelchair user and although the room wasn’t advertised as accessible we were able to manage very well. The first room was not appropriate as we couldn’t get in because of the step in the patio door but we were moved in the morning to room 24 which was perfect for us. There was also a grab rail and stool in the shower. The triple room had plenty of space to manoeuvre. The staff were very accommodating and couldn’t have been more helpful. Unfortunately the pool is not accessible due to the steps from the changing room but they don’t advertise as being an accessible hotel so we weren’t expecting to be able to use the pool, but we were grateful to find a lovely clean affordable hotel in Falmouth that we managed to fit our needs. Every staff member was very helpful and friendly, from reception, room attendants, pool cleaner and waiting staff. Thankyou very much. We will be back. The only thing I’d add that would have made our stay better was a coffee table in the room to use when we were sitting on the sofa.

I stayed in the superior room which was spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately the room was showing signs of age and the bed was particularly tatty. Overall it was clean except a ring of dirt around the bath! A broken window pane covered in bubblewrap did set the tone. Definitely long overdue for an overhaul. On the plus side the staff were lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. They were very quick to respond to my questions when I booked. The gardens are well kept and lovely.

Really friendly and nice staff. Hotel is clean. Food is good. Had a comfortable bed (was a firm mattress). Great Wi-Fi connection. Room was spacious (had a triple bedroom) bathroom had a bath and separate shower cubicle. Some areas could do with an update, e.g the carpets. Reasonable priced rooms.

Nice location with good private parking. £6 in a taxi into the main town. Our room was spacious with a big double bed. The fitting and decor is quite dated and a bit tired but its clean. The shower however was terrible, no pressure at all. Breakfast, included on our deal, was very good. We didn't use the leisure suite but it looked really nice. All the staff were very good.

Staff amazing, very professional and helpful. Room clean but smelled strongly of mildew/bleach although we appreciated that hygiene products were provided. Communal rooms well kept, but property overall felt shabby and in need of an update. Brambles everywhere, seagulls nesting in the overgrown gutters made a constant racket, as did other guests, and the phone line also made a loud strange noise at 630am. I think it was quite unfortunate that it was so hot as we needed the windows open which amplified the noise. The restaurant was tasty but we did not feel there was quantity value for money (another portion of veg would have made it!). Bed was comfortable. Overall OK, probably would not go back though.

The room and bathroom were nice and clean, but we noticed that areas of the carpet were worn through and an area next to the bed had a large loop that would easily snag an awary toe if you had to get up in the middle of the night. The sockets next to the mirror were all blanked off so you had to use the kettle on the floor next to the bed where the only available socket was located. Good luck using a hairdryer or straightners in front of the mirror. The shower was poor, would get wetter running around in the rain. We noticed on the bottom of the welcome letter an "outside food" surcharge. I have stayed in this hotel before for many weeks a few years ago and many many others and never came across this charge before. We were afraid to eat a bag of crisps in our room in case we were charged £10! I get that not many hotels have aircon in this country but a fan in the room would've been very nice this warm weather, we had to have the blinds down over our windows which blocked any breeze because of the blinding outside lights. Breakfast was included and a buffet style, which was pretty good with free optional extras on a seperate menu but the glass jug holding the orange juice had a cracked spout which seemed a bit dodgy to me. Staff were nice and friendly even when busy. The extension part of the hotel is a bit tired with some obvious damage from ceiling leaks that had been quickly repaired. Overall not as good as it was only a few years ago and not worth £190 for one night.

Nice stay in old hotel. Room s atisfactory and clean with pleasant view over garden. Excellent breakfast. Excellent evening meal at reasonable cost. We walked into town but it was a long hilly walk into Falmouth so you need to drive into town.

Service was great and hotel it self is a nice building but was very dated and dusty there was paint peeling and spots of mould,we stayed in a room and the top of the stairs (33) and felt there wasn't much privacy could here everything going on in the hotel.

Large bright room, comfy beds, friendly approachable staff and excellent powerful shower

The pillows and bed need addressing. Maybe the owners should actually test them out. The mattresses are like sleeping on boards and the pillows very poor.

Quite dated property inside but looks nice from the outside. Bathroom had a strange smell but nice large towels. Big bed but noisy in the morning - lots of seagulls. Curtains let lots of light in so didn’t get the best sleep. Not lots of choice or lots of food in general for breakfast but friendly staff members who did their best to accommodate. Friendly check in staff member.

Loved the original features. Staff were all attentive. Some areas if the building and grounds looked a little tired but everywhere is fully functioning. Comfortable and big bed. Windows can be opened fully. Sounds do travel easily. Sadly didn't manage to use the pool/gym facilities.

The negatives were that the shower in my room was like a dribbling tap and the wall to the next room was paper thin, you could hear everything, and I mean everything! The positives were that the room was clean and comfortable, the staff were great, really friendly and helpful and the breakfast and evening meal was really nice and all at a good price. I will definitely stay again as I'm expecting my trips to be more frequent, I would ask for a quieter room and better shower though. A big thank you to all the staff.

We booked for a one night stay as we were attending a wedding in the local area . All the staff were friendly; poilte, with a great professional attitude . The breakfast was excellent again great service and nothing was to much trouble. Thanks you all.

Enjoyed our stay at Penmere. The staff were very friendly and helpful - shout out for Jamie! Spacious, comfortable room, powerful shower, clean. Good choice on breakfast buffet that was continuously replenished. Food ordered from breakfast menu was slow to come out. Would certainly stay again.

In many ways it is very good but one young waiter needs further training and supervision.Presentation of hot bread rolls on paper napkins needs reviewing

Very very nice and big room for the 4 of us, clean and tidy. Could have used a little more maintenance though. Impressive, very impressive location. Pricey but in line with the area. Staff was very welcoming and professional. Particular credit to the the restaurant service: amazing quality for price, served with excellent professionality. Congratulations.

Had a wonderful stay at the Penmere Manor Hotel for a short 4 night stay in Falmouth. Everything was perfect for what we needed including being able to sit and have an evening meal when we arrived. The location is great. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

The staff at the hotel are fantastic. They went above and beyond to help with any requests . The hotel is beautiful and our room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The only quibbles were the fact that there were no biscuits in the room and not many teabags or milk (I'm sure that this would have been rectified quickly but my husband forgot to ask!) The only other issue was breakfast as they were trialling a buffer style. Unfortunately there was very little selection left and the wait for replacement items took a long time.

Short staffed meant having to wait nearly an hour after ordering a meal to start eating. Quality of food during evening meal was at best adequate- should’ve eaten out . Breakfast was good. In fairness they did say there would be a wait but we didn’t expect it to be that long. Bar service also poor. I must stress that the staff were lovely and did everything they could to ensure customer satisfaction . The pool, sauna , jacuzzi and gym was good. In the local area there are excessive speed bumps - be careful with these as you could damage low spoilers . Overall the hotel could do with updating - very 80s . Also they could do with filling in the potholes on the entrance to the hotel . It was ok overall .

The hotel was very good. Nothing remarkable about it, just a nice place to stay. The seagulls were very noisy at 4 in the morning. Take earplugs!

We had a couple of nights here whilst bringing my son down to start uni at Falmouth. The hotel is set in its own grounds so feels like the countryside, but only a 25 minute walk into Falmouth centre which incidentally is a lovely place. The staff are very nice and friendly and happy to help, the room we had was good and clean, and the pool was a real treat, and as it’s open from 7am we were able to use it on our last day before having breakfast! Very relaxed atmosphere, would definitely recommend!!!

Ideal hotel to visit Falmouth and other beaches, walked to Swanpool 30 mins. Falmouth town circular bus route 65 stop was nearby. local shops a bonus 5mins walk. The hotel pool looked good,will try next time.All staff were helpful. Rooms clean,beds comfortable,preferred 1st floor front for view.

Nice hotel just a 10 minute drive from Falmouth Harbour room was clean and comfortable. Could do with a bit of TLC and then an upgrade restaurant was nice. Breakfast was good.

Lovely quiet spot, the staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely place to stay if you want peace and quiet.

The hotel was okay and staff were amenable. Difficult location as on one way road with no pavements & local buses (which only ran every hour) did not go there so had to walk some distance to utilise. It seemed as if not staffed up to cope with increased numbers, as was evident when coach party arrived existing residents couldn’t have their normal dinner time & either had to opt for early or late sitting or eat out.

Hotel was pleasant and quiet. Staff were polite and helpful. The town centre was about a 20min walk from the hotel and was not difficult to navigate to

My first room was quite nice, old but comfy. Sadly the power went off and I had to be moved to another room. This room was very tired and cold. Carpet fraying, it just needs some investment. Breakfast wasn’t great and they told me I’d have to pay extra for a latte which I found very odd.

A beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. A friendly welcome, the rooms were good sized and had all the amenities including a hair dryer and TV and free tea/coffee and biscuits. The bathroom was also a good size and had bath and shower and free toiletries. Its clear the hotel could do with updating the rooms and a coat of fresh paint as well, but it was comfortable enough and suited as a base for the break. The food in the restraint was delicious. We had an evening meal and the prices were good and the food exceptional. We had excellent service from Will the waiter and very much enjoyed our evening. Breakfast was included and there were good options, from cereal to croissant to a full English or salmon and egg etc. Would recommend this hotel.

Arrived to a warm welcome and an offer of a free later checkout. Room (basic, rear facing by chocie) and bathroom all fine and comfortable. Two chairs in the room, which makes a welcome change. Enjoyed a drink in the large and comfy lounge followed by a very good and reasonably priced dinner with excellent service. Breakfast was terrific, full hot and cold buffet plus made-to-order choices as standard. The buidling has many original features and some very old photos of its heyday hidden away down the garden corridor. Only thing missing is a history of the buidling, which I am sure would be very interesting.
