St Michaels Resort, Falmouth

Lovely staff and super in house gym and pool. Great breakfast as well and an ideal place to while away a weekend.

On arrival our room hadn't been cleaned. The reception staff could not have been more apologetic and gave us an upgraded room. The facilities there are superb and the staff very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again. The issue with our room is the only reason for 4 stars.

Lovely hotel. All staff really friendly and helpful. Great room with sundeck. It was a real suntrap and great views out to sea. Enjoyed the spa facilities.

The view was amazing, the spa center and the service also! The only 2 things that I didn’t liked where that first people at breakfast where sitting to close to each other… and it was loudy..so no good idea if you wish a realexed breakfast :) And second, there where sooo many people at the health center (not Hotel guests) so there was no space for us as hotel guests!!

List is long where this hotel can improve. 1. There is an extra cost for everything ..Even for simple hot drinks like cappuccino and espresso in the breakfast. Even before we started the b'fast, the staff came with the bill and asked us to pay. What was the point of the pre-auth that was taken at the time of check in??? 2. Hot tub and swimming pool shown in the picture (during the booking path) are NOT included in the charges but extra charges which you find out when you reach the hotel. 3. Free swimming pool has restricted time for kids from 9-12 and and couple of hours in the evening. Cannot enjoy pool with kids with restricted times. 4. Poor breakfast service. Everything is cost cutting. NO Big plates in the buffet. No monitoring by staff to refill milk or utensils. Plus more issues.... 5. We booked large luxury category king room with sun deck. Nothing like the picture. Disappointed as no view and infact no privacy too. 6. Untrained staff at the reception. Staff is polite but do no even know half of the information about the resort. When checked out , I asked if the pre-auth would fall automatically and she did not even know what Pre-Auth is. Again all cost cutting by not hiring experienced professionals. 7. No one answers the call at the reception. Tried 3 times as A/C in room was making noise and few bugs were seen on the bed. No courtesy to reply back to the call.

4 nights, rooms & hotel very clean indeed, bed very comfortable, bedroom quiet, heating in room good. Plenty of staff and all were really excellent. Breakfast was good, quite a lot of choice, reasonably cooked, although we have had slightly better elsewhere. Food in the Garden Room restaurant was very good and suitably priced. The main restaurant was totally overpriced for what was on offer, the service and environment were however good. I consider £5.00 for a bottle of still/sparkling water was rediculous. A single bottle was provided FOC in the room on our first night but was not replaced. A cheaper water, replaced nightly, would be more appropriate. Parking hardly sufficient and resticted space.

beautiful hotel, the grounds are so relaxing, and so many different areas to sit. Staff extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Having pool and gym facilities on site was great. 30 second walk and you are on the beach.

Amazing Spa which you have to pay additionally for but it’s well worth it! The breakfast was wonderful, so much choice. I love staying here, it’s a real treat!

This was our second stay at St Michael’s and we did have a lovely stay again. The facilities are very good, we particularly enjoyed the hydrothermal experience and the health club. The location is a huge bonus for us as we enjoy being able to walk into Falmouth. Breakfast was good but you do have to pay extra for certain things including lattes. This is a bit unusual; I stayed in a Premier Inn Hub last week which had freely available coffee machines for all guests! The hydrotherapy experience was really enjoyable, it has a great range of different steam rooms and saunas to try as well as a large pool. The plunge pool was out of action. The gym is enormous and really well equipped! I did find the cleanliness a bit lacking, there is blue roll and spray around to wipe down equipment but I only saw one other person doing it while I was there. We booked a cosy room which was in the main building. The size was fine, more than ample for us. You can hear the other rooms, toilets flushing and people moving around etc. What does let the whole place down is the finish in the rooms, the paint work is chipped and repairs were fairly poorly done around the bath. The ceiling in the hallway outside the room looked like it had suffered a leak at some point as the paint had been partly stripped. We would stay again for the location and facilities but it’s not quite up to the standard it could be in terms of finish.

I know the website says limited parking on site but street parking available, however as the car park is also available to the general public, as a guest, I didn’t expect to have to pay in a car park so distance away. Unhappy also with the Roman blinds that didn’t cover the full length of the window to block out the hotel lights that stayed on all night. Disappointed ☹️

Rooms very tired. Cleaning a bit sketchy in the bathroom. Cigarette ends all over the floor by entrance.

Hotel was very clean and spacious

Stayed for 3 nights. I had really high expectations for this hotel and needed the R&R. The images and reviews boast blissful relaxation and feet-up mentality. When we arrived to the room, there were old/used dirty towels, that I can only imagine were from previous occupants - not a great start as instantly undermined confidence that any proper cleaning had taken place. The Safe also would not work and had an error which seemed to imply the previous occupants code was still registered and therefore left this unusable. I reported the safe issue, along with cleaning and towel issue to reception and was told someone would sort it while we were out and would make every effort to show good-will about these issues to regain trust and confidence in our stay. No-one came, no resolution to the safe was done. This fundamentally set the tone for the rest of the stay; Bitterly Disappointed. Good points: Location Breakfast Facilities (gym/pool were very busy) Adult-focused Bad points: Staff / Management. Clearly, some staff were there taking advantage of the feet-up mentality. Shared sundeck spaces. Beds=Rock hard (I have a firm bed at home, but these took firmness to an uncomfortable level). -Pillows=too soft/nothing to them. -Construction in the car park -Busy Gym and Pool facilities shared by locals Conclusion: I can't recommend St Michaels Resort, until some of the issues are resolved, I just felt not looked after, poorly rested and as a result, slightly annoyed / ripped-off.

Overpriced Having dogs in the breakfast and dining area doesn’t make the experience hygienic Bedroom was low level ( very dirty chair and carpet….. probably from all the dogs sitting and sleeping on it. Bathroom is low level ….. loose tiles … molt on silicone..,.no outlet… shower cover was defect

Lovely hotel , beautiful room, very clean. nice tea, coffee and biscuit selection and locally made mugs nice touch Enjoyed the pool , luckily remembered my own flip flops to walk across there. Only tiny detail is wear n tear on paintwork in bathroom but imagine this is on winter job list Complimentary drink for our anniversary was a really lovely and appreciated gesture Definitely will be back

Very enjoyable stay at St Michael’s resort. Clean room, friendly and efficient staff.

We stayed here on 21-22nd February (one night and a spa session), and on checkout, we shared the following observations: 1) There is an air gap on the patio door for the room we stayed in 2) As a result, with the heavy rain, we had a wet carpet by those patio doors 3) The hand wash was empty, which seems very poor when we are recovering from a global pandemic 4) The shampoo and shower gel dispensers were also empty 5) The mastic and grout around the shower was black in places 6) One cracked tile in the bath / shower When we left, the manager my wife spoke to declined a copy of our photos, and promised a response that afternoon. We then chased 2 weeks later for a response, but again, nothing other than being told our email had been shared to the manager. So, we enjoyed the Spa and everyone was friendly, but let down by the state of our room and the awful follow up from the senior management at the hotel.

The room was a small twin with a small bathroom so enough for one night. But would not like to stay for longer in it. We found lots of cobwebs on the windows and mould around the window seals which I have taken photos of and there was a used nail file down the side of the hot drinks table that wasn’t ours. So it questions the cleanliness of the room. Other than that we enjoyed our stay!

Initial impressions of the hotel are great. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. A few negatives are that the floor in my room was dirty - could feel grit and dirt on my feet throughout, the breakfast was a little cold, and bathroom was a little grubby around the skirting boards (room 32). Breakfast dish was eggs Benedict - the muffin did not taste toasted at all and whole dish was a too cold. I would recommend staying here as all-in-all it was a good overnight stay.

Lovely stay, great facilities, friendly staff and good location. Only let down by mold around the shower and bath.

We requested a quiet room and were given what has to be one of noisiest rooms they have in between the stairs and the elevator. We either heard guest climbing the stairs or the elevator binging all night. Our room also overlooked the car park and to top it off a wedding on the first night which understandably were having a wonderful time celebrating. It was quieter the second night but not the relaxing break we were looking for. The room also did not have AC and was very hot and stuffy even with the windows open. Guy in the restaurant was outstanding and an absolute credit to this hotel. He was running the place seamlessly despite obviously being understaffed and always had a smile and time for a chat. Superb at his job. No real sunbathing areas unless you pay for the deck which is a shame. A decent stay overall but we would choose somewhere else in future. The hotel did graciously give us a couple of drinks vouchers for my husbands birthday which was very nice of them.

Absolutely brilliant room for 3 of us - 1 double bed and 1 double sofa bed in 2 adjoining spaces with a spacious 4x2m bathroom with tub and shower! I would certainly stay again!

Excellent location, near the beach, and only a 15 minute walk from the town centre. Really nice gym. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food for both the evening and breakfast was excellent. Only negative, we were in room 83, the mattress was pretty dreadful (like a sponge), and the bed was not even, with your head “downhill “.

An excellent hotel and resort although i thought it was a bit pricey, but i guess you pay for what you get. Our room on the third floor over the pool was always too hot and a bit small, it felt like they had squeezed 6 rooms in a space for 5 and the balcony was tiny. Hence 4 stars instead of 5. Having said that it looked and felt brand new, spotless with excellent storage and some very nice features. The bedding, was crisp and all towels and robes felt luxurious. The bathroom/shower was also excellent. There was a really nice feel about the hotel with amazing views and so close to the beach however the exterior access to the beach could do with a tidy up though, it was nit in keeping with the rest of the hotel, i guess because its not greatly used.The gardens were beautiful, with a nice touch of a bar actually in the garden. The health club was also good with a generous pool. We didnt visit the spar but it also looked great. We had breakfast every day which was cooked to order and was very good. We didnt particularly like the look of the dinner menu so we ate out. The restaurant on the beach was good, the fish restaurant (hooked on the rocks) just by the neighbouring swanpool beach was absolutely superb and Falmouth was a 20min walk away. This is a great luxury base to explore southern Cornwall and so close to the beach. Would we come back, oh yes.

A mixed experience at St Michael’s Resort. There were some real positives, but also issues that left the stay feeling below expectations. The Good: Parking was easy, and we were checked in early by a very friendly receptionist. The location is excellent—right by Gyllyngvase Beach and a short walk to town—with attractive coastal décor throughout. The room was comfortable, with a great bed, quiet nights, good temperature control, and an excellent shower. Staff in the bar, restaurant and spa were consistently friendly and attentive. Breakfast was good, and the venison at dinner was superb. The spa facilities were a highlight, with spacious indoor and outdoor areas. The Not So Good: Check-in was pushed to 3:30pm with no apology or explanation. Spa access cost an extra £40, which felt poor value compared to other Cornwall hotels where it’s included. The room, booked as a “Large Luxury King with Sundeck,” was disappointing: stains on the sofa and curtains, an iron burn on the carpet, loose light fitting with exposed wires, visible cables on the phone, and a bathroom that felt tired with mould, peeling paint and rust. At checkout, no one asked about our stay, which felt disengaged. Overall: Great staff, food and location, but the room quality and extra charges made it feel less than good value. As Cornwall residents who often stay locally in the off-season, we’ve had much better experiences elsewhere for similar prices.

From the moment we entered the check in lobby we felt welcomed and relaxed. Beautiful hotel grounds, wonderful staff, everyone very hardworking and attentive. We stayed in the beach house in a luxury king room with sun deck and it was beautiful, lovely sea views, big room, excellent amenities. We visited the health club, used the swimming pool. Pool towels are included for hotel guests. Our only complaint is we didn’t stay longer, we will be booking again, this time staying for 2 nights and booking the spa. A truly wonderful stay and a little gem of a hotel nestled in impressive gardens

Great facilities and decide downstairs but bedrooms/bathrooms a bit for the price of stay. Noisy neighbouring room partly due to being in a family room with interconnecting doors. Would be good to mention this when booking or provide a different room if family room not needed

Loved our room with it's sea view -- the elegance of an earlier era. Clean and neat, so comfortable. Not so fond of the cramped parking, and at times we had to park on an adjacent street.

This was my second time staying here. sadly my experience at breakfast on the first day was not very good and the staff did their best to ignore my wife and I. Despite being booked in and taken to a table by the manager on duty we then sat for 30 mins with no sign of anyone coming over and asking if we wanted to order anything. Eventually we had to go up to the desk and ask for some service, only to then have the very same manager who signed us in and escort us to a table ask if we had just walked in and seated ourselves. Sadly this was not the only time the team in the bar / breakfast area did not do very well. On the Sunday we waited the best part of 40 mins on the area around the bar/cafe waiting for someone to take our order, we simply just left this time. On a positive the staff working in Nourish on Saturday night were good and an example of how things should be at an establishment like St Michael. Sadly i doubt we would return.

Breakfast was excellent, let down a little by one of our party being forgotten, had to find a staff member to rectify the issue - wasn’t because of workload as we witnessed three of the same breakfasts delivered before us. Overall a very lovely stay though, our two hour Visit to the pool, steam rooms etc. was excellent as well… we will be back!!!

We recently stayed at St. Michael’s Hotel Resort, and while the exterior and surroundings are undeniably beautiful, the experience inside left a lot to be desired—especially considering the high prices charged. The food, particularly breakfast, was poor in both quality and presentation. For what they’re charging, it’s simply unacceptable. The accommodation itself was tired and clearly in need of some serious TLC—worn furnishings, dated décor, and a general lack of upkeep that doesn’t reflect a premium resort. Most disappointing, however, was the attitude of the staff. With the exception of Caitlin and Anderson, who were professional, helpful, polite and lovely, one other chap in the bar also but the rest were disinterested at best and outright rude at worst. There was no sense of care or customer service, which is shocking for a hotel of this supposed standard. We stay in hotels regularly and are rarely compelled to write reviews, but this experience was well below par. I would not return and certainly wouldn’t recommend it to others. It’s such a shame. We drove five hours and paid £555 for what we hoped would be a beautiful Bank Holiday and anniversary weekend away. At that price, the basics should be a given—not something we have to repeatedly ask for. When you’re paying extra for breakfast, you shouldn’t have to chase staff for the most basic things, over and over again. We expected a level of service and attention to match the cost. Big time gutted.

Most enjoyable stay, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is finished to a high standard.

Excellent service. We booked my mother in to stay in a single room which had an unfortunate smell in it, but the management was very helpful and changed her to a much better room. The hotel itself is very stylish, breakfast is top notch and the service first class. Strongly recommended.

We did enjoy the stay but it was marred by the evening meal on the first night, Friday 3rd March. The food was not that good. My wife's meal of Hake was overcooked and my meal had poor vegetables and poorly cooked chips. However, the most disappointing issue was that we were charged £45 for a bottle of white wine. We ordered the Pinot Grigio at £26 but a more expensive bottle was brought to the table. We did not recognise this until the bill came at the end. We mentioned it to the staff but they refused to help. We feel we were duped over this and are still very angry about the whole matter. We would not pay £45 for a bottle and it did spoil our stay.

Fantastic hotel with excellent customer service, the staff were always busy. We had an overheating problem in the room we booked but were moved as soon as possible. The location opposite Gylly beach is stunning and a short drive to Falmouth. I would definitely stay longer next time.

The resort was high quality accomodation in a great location. The facilities were excellent and in close proximity to the beach and Falmouth town centre.

Great hotel but unfortunately there was a very loud wedding party when we stayed there. It finished at 11 but there was no opportunity to relax before it finished due to the loud drum noise.

st michael's offer great deals for a break with pleasant helpful staff but you will be shocked at the prices for food and drinks particularly.I ended up eating out in Falmouth where i had great food and drinks at a fraction of the price

False advertising. They have a lovely spa, but we were not able to use it unless we paid an extra £100! It's a complete con. We also had to wait 30 mins after ordering our breakfast, to then be given the wrong breakfast. Felt very shortchanged and will not be returning.

Super site. Delicious evening meal in restaurant. Lovely spa session - although out door hot tub was a little slimy. Delicious breakfast- but coffee from machine was poor. Amazing gym facilities. Staff were very friendly and helpful
