Overall a great place to stay. Even though we didn’t have a dog, our room went out on to the pub garden and would be ideal for those taking their dog away with them.

This is a place that has worked out all the small details to make for a perfect stay. The dog friendly touches were super and the rooms were lovely. We had a garden view room which was terrific for our dog with a small garden off the patio doors in the room. The food was great and even has a dog menu and the service was exceptional - every member of staff was just a delight and couldn’t be more helpful - that’s the difference here - all genuinely interested in making your stay memorable

Lovely B&B with the pub restaurant downstairs so it was easy to relax in the one place after a day out walking. And a nice breakfast in the morning. Staff were very friendly and food was good.

Warm welcome, beautiful & comfortable room with excellent bathroom & facilities. Dinner choice was very tempting, choice of beers & gins extensive and very welcome at end of a long days drive. All 3 ladies who looked after us were delightful and following a very peaceful & comfortable night we were pleased to see a very cheerful Naomi again at Breakfast. What a very hardworking team.

As described it’s a little old around the edges with some mould around the door frame in our bedroom. Having said that I’d definitely stay again. Very welcoming, comfortable, had our own door into the garden for our dog which was an absolute bonus and to top it all the food was delicious. Really pleased I found it.

The staff were very polite and helpful. The property was absolutely spotless. We went over New Years Eve and didnt have any problem booking tables for good tasty food. Menu had a great choice and the breakfast had a wide selection which was included in the price of the booking

This hotel has friendly staff with a warm welcome, good food and is good value for money. It was convenient and comfortable. It’s an old building, so it’s not all modern and pristine, but it does have character and we feel that we had good value for what we paid. It was a very cold spell and our room was very chilly for a good few hours on arrival, but it did warm up and was warm and comfy all night. We sat by the cosy fire in the pub and relaxed. Everywhere in the hotel was clean, extra large bed was comfy and all our laundry items were clean and fresh. If you are looking for the pristine surroundings of a modern hotel, then you should pay double the price and consider going elsewhere. If you are happy with a friendly atmosphere, and a little dated, but very clean surroundings, we would recommend this hotel. I think that the price is very fair for the service, room and food that we received. Thank you to all for our comfy overnight stay.

The property is good and being a listed building limits the owner on what he can di with respect to windows . Therefore the road noise at the front of the building was an issue for us. The booking company we used Expedia did not inform the owner of our choice of a garden facing room so they spoilt our stay. The staff were excellent and we would stay again

Service was so good and the food was of high quality very tasty. Our room was ok at first cold but warmed up soon I asked. The bathroom was odd but tight for space so I felt the room was quite small for two people but honestly the staff made up for the lack of comfort.

We had a lovely big room with all the facilities we could have wished for, including a mini fridge and in room safe. Lovely evening meal and a fantastic breakfast. Would definitely book again.

We had a really lovely overnight stay here on our way back from the Highlands. The food was great and although Room 1 wasn't particularly quiet, the noise from the pub didn't continue too late and I had ear plugs which helped me sleep too so I'd recommend doing the same. The staff there were all really lovely and we felt very welcome. The breakfast was great, the room was full of character and we'd definitely stay there again!

We could not fault our one night stay, the welcome on arival, the comfort of the room, the evening meal and breakfast, the friendliness of the staff were all first class. Our dog was really spoilt with attention and a bag of treats including a ball. A wonderful place to break a journey between north and south.

Second stay at this excellent hotel situated perfectly for travelling around Cumbria . Room was comfortable and staff very attentive . Breakfast was very good and overall a hotel to keep in mind if in this area .

Had an evening meal and overnight stay for hubby's birthday. Good food, friendly staff and welcoming for doggy. A good atmosphere and interaction with other guests who we discovered are regulars. A short pleasant walk into the village, though we arrived in the evening so it was very quiet.

We had a really lovely overnight stay here on our way back from the Highlands. The food was great and although Room 1 wasn't particularly quiet, the noise from the pub didn't continue too late and I had ear plugs which helped me sleep too so I'd recommend doing the same. The staff there were all really lovely and we felt very welcome. The breakfast was great, the room was full of character and we'd definitely stay there again!

This is a place that has worked out all the small details to make for a perfect stay. The dog friendly touches were super and the rooms were lovely. We had a garden view room which was terrific for our dog with a small garden off the patio doors in the room. The food was great and even has a dog menu and the service was exceptional - every member of staff was just a delight and couldn’t be more helpful - that’s the difference here - all genuinely interested in making your stay memorable

Warm welcome, beautiful & comfortable room with excellent bathroom & facilities. Dinner choice was very tempting, choice of beers & gins extensive and very welcome at end of a long days drive. All 3 ladies who looked after us were delightful and following a very peaceful & comfortable night we were pleased to see a very cheerful Naomi again at Breakfast. What a very hardworking team.

Stayed before still very good although I think it has changed ownership. Only disappointment, there was no fruit or yogurt at breakfast although the cooked breakfast was excellent (plenty of choice)

What a pleasant surprise to find this lovely inn on Expedia. Excellent value for money. Comfortable, clean room and en-suite. Lovely food and excellent menu. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this little gem.

We had a lovely big room with all the facilities we could have wished for, including a mini fridge and in room safe. Lovely evening meal and a fantastic breakfast. Would definitely book again.

Absolute little gem of a property. The staff were warm and welcoming and nothing was too much for them. The cottage was clean and perfect for what we needed. We ate dinner at the pub and the food was delicious with very generous portions. The steak was cooked to perfection and again the staff were delightful. After a good nights rest we were treated to a delicious cooked full English with the best sausages we’ve ever tasted. 100% fantastic and we would certainly love to visit again.

A very atmospheric pub/hotel. We were lucky to get a large spacious room and our bed was very comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was very good and the staff very friendly and helpful. If we pass this way again, we'd certainly make another booking.

I made the booking for my Brother in Law and his son. They were very late arriving because of road closures in North Yorkshire, but the hotel owners were very accommodating. They said they would definitely stay again.

This is a really cute, 400 (ish) year old pub. The location is great as well. We asked for a vegan breakfast is it was no problem, and it was tasty. My only issue is less likely to be a problem for most people, but as someone with mobility issues, the very uneven floors led to a lot of tripping. My husband had no issues at all. Overall, I would recommend this hotel.
