The property was in a lovely quiet location with a wonderful view but this meant you had quite a distance of single track narrow roads to get to it. It was very warm when we stayed and unfortunately the menu in the restaurant was limited to quite heavy more wintery food and after we got served our food we didn’t see any staff so had we wanted a dessert or more drinks it would have been a problem.

Staff were lovely. Hotel really needs modernising and updating. The carpets were disgusting in the corridors. Upholstery needs cleaning. Shame as the location and the building itself is very good. Could be wonderful. Drive needs replacing.

The hotel staff were all helpful and attentive. The room was clean and fresh. The gardens were well kept and enjoyable. The building is old and in parts looking a little tired. Food in the restaurant was good. I would recommend the hotel for its excellent customer service and spotless accommodation.

Nice quiet old country house. Public areas a bit tired but my room looked recently updated. Food was good. Gardens and view are lovely.

Stunning from the outside, however the room needed some tlc (not sure if perhaps our room is used as a pet friendly room which might explain that). Bathroom was really nice, recently refurbished. Out room was situated above some outside seating and other guests were fairly noisy outside until gone 11pm which wasn't great. Food was generally good, had one issue with an item, but no apology and seemed to be an effort to get the item removed from the bill. Fire alarm also went off at 6:50am. Unlikely we would stay again.

This property was a proper little hideaway! The road in to it was a bit scary but well worth the trip! The property definitely had an air of bygone refinement to it. We had a very peaceful stay. The staff were very friendly and appeared gnuinely pleased to care for us.. It is a wonderful venue for business conferences, weddings etc.

Pleasant staff and surroundings. Buildings a little dated, but reasonably well maintained. Very good breakfast selection. Evening meals were a little limited and Steak was a bit overpriced for the quality.

We only stayed for one night as we were on route to Cornwall, the staff were very friendly, lovely and welcoming. We had the Sunday roast and the Gammon was amazing we had to speak to the chef to let him know! The hotel is situated in beautiful calming surroundings and wish we had more time here! The room was spotless and looked like the bathroom had been refurbished and had everything we needed. Breakfast also was plentiful and more than enough choices and good quality. Would definitely stay here again if we are in the area. Big thank you to everyone

Venue was lovely although very remote. Room was adequate but made uncomfortable by the radiator being on with no facility to turn off. Barely slept even with windows open and fan on.

Really nice hotel, rooms were a great size and tea , coffee provided. A bit tricky to find the place but it's well worth it when you arrive. Staff were really good both reception and waiter/bar person could not have been more polite and helpful. Would definitely stay again if I'm in the area

Room a little old fashioned (bathroom had been refurbed though), mattress awful (really bad). Location, grounds, view and staff amazing. Didn't get any GPS close by so was a little frustrating to find initially. Drive up to hotel is full of potholes which probably belongs to a neigbouring property, however it is pretty bad and some are very deep, could be damaging.

First impressions was that check in was a little slow, ringing the phone at reception didn’t work so I found the bar where there was a member of staff. Food was excellent both breakfast and supper and service staff were attentive and efficient. Generous smoked salmon with scrambled egg. Bed was very comfortable, rooms warm, decor a little tired and bathroom needing a small amount of DIY. Seeing to the base of the bath. Walks are terribly thin, some guests are incredibly selfish when it comes to noise levels. We were very happy with our stay and would definitely come back. Thankyou a much needed break.

Initial thoughts were that the hotel looked lovely. Went downhill a tad when we had to hunt for the waiter to place our dinner order, food was mediocre. Room comfortable. Having been up since 5am, we were crashed by 9.30pm, only to be woken at 11.23pm by lots of people outside our room, talking very loudly. I went to politely ask them to be quiet, to be greeted by about ten people all standing in the room opposite with a camera man. I called down to Reception for support, but dialling 0 as per their brochure didn't get a response so I used my mobile to call the main hotel number. The gentleman said he would speak to the guests. I went back to bed, but was again disturbed at 12.15am by loud voices and electronic beeping. I opened my door & was again greeted by a large group of people standing in the room opposite. I called the night porter and was told that 'they'll be finished filming at 12.30'... seriously??? I barely got any sleep after that as I was so angry. It transpires that it was a paranormal event where people can book 'haunted rooms'. Obviousky the room opposite ours was one of the haunted rooms! I spoke to the lady in the desk in the morning and explained our dissatisfaction with the situation, to be told that 'they're normally quiet'. Totally unacceptable. Would not ever recommend this hotel and I will be contacting the Manager directly.

Really nice hotel, rooms were a great size and tea , coffee provided. A bit tricky to find the place but it's well worth it when you arrive. Staff were really good both reception and waiter/bar person could not have been more polite and helpful. Would definitely stay again if I'm in the area

First impressions was that check in was a little slow, ringing the phone at reception didn’t work so I found the bar where there was a member of staff. Food was excellent both breakfast and supper and service staff were attentive and efficient. Generous smoked salmon with scrambled egg. Bed was very comfortable, rooms warm, decor a little tired and bathroom needing a small amount of DIY. Seeing to the base of the bath. Walks are terribly thin, some guests are incredibly selfish when it comes to noise levels. We were very happy with our stay and would definitely come back. Thankyou a much needed break.

The property was in a lovely quiet location with a wonderful view but this meant you had quite a distance of single track narrow roads to get to it. It was very warm when we stayed and unfortunately the menu in the restaurant was limited to quite heavy more wintery food and after we got served our food we didn’t see any staff so had we wanted a dessert or more drinks it would have been a problem.

The private road from the road to the hotel is in very poor condition, even in 1st gear I worried that my suspension would be damaged!!!!!!

This property was a proper little hideaway! The road in to it was a bit scary but well worth the trip! The property definitely had an air of bygone refinement to it. We had a very peaceful stay. The staff were very friendly and appeared gnuinely pleased to care for us.. It is a wonderful venue for business conferences, weddings etc.

Pleasant staff and surroundings. Buildings a little dated, but reasonably well maintained. Very good breakfast selection. Evening meals were a little limited and Steak was a bit overpriced for the quality.

Restaurant service, quality and quantity very good, but had issue with the Hotel's 3 course dinner offer. Obviously the Chef was not in agreement with the offer and it took ages to serve, otherwise the food was lovely. Room very comfortable, but if you are disabled in any way, there is no lift.

We only stayed for one night as we were on route to Cornwall, the staff were very friendly, lovely and welcoming. We had the Sunday roast and the Gammon was amazing we had to speak to the chef to let him know! The hotel is situated in beautiful calming surroundings and wish we had more time here! The room was spotless and looked like the bathroom had been refurbished and had everything we needed. Breakfast also was plentiful and more than enough choices and good quality. Would definitely stay here again if we are in the area. Big thank you to everyone

Nice hotel in a lovely setting and friendly staff. It was extremely hot weather when we stayed. The hotel provided fans to cool us down which was very thoughtful and useful. They also set us up a ‘dog friendly’ table for breakfast away from the other guests. Again, very thoughtful. It was appreciated. Thanks. We’ll be back!

Impressive building reached via a badly rutted track. Nice big room but on that night in particular aircon would have been welcome rather than one fan. Restaurant food seemed basic and uninspired, and the morning breakfast had only a single staff-member battling heroically to keep up with orders and maintain the buffet. Staff were very friendly but unlikely to stay again.

Quite location in the hills . Easy parking. A nice building but showing it's age however the grounds are delightful and well maintained. The salad I had was fine. Overall an ok stay but not one I will remember.

Stayed for the night with the dog, room was big and spacious clean and comfortable. The grounds are stunning beautiful kept gardens lovely walks, the staff were friendly and helpful the food was lush even the dog enjoyed her doggy sausage would definitely stay again.
