DoubleTree by Hilton York

Great location for all that the City has to offer. Parking is available but limited. Room was comfortable and clean.

First time staying at the Double Tree On arrival, VERY limited parking (16 spaces), so I would recommend to park in the carpark around 3 minutes walk away Staff were very friendly and approachable! We stayed in a a cosy room, I would say that the room needs updating. I noticed staines and lifted areas on the carpet, chips on the furniture, and the bedside drawer was broken. Apart from that, the room was clean and the bathroom was stocked with all the amenities you need The location was great, very quick walk straight into the city :)

Limited parking at the property & cannot reserve a space prior to arrival. Rooms are located across different buildings so you may need to leave the main building to get to your room

In a really good position for getting into the city, with many bars and restaurants very close by, parking onsite is a little expensive (in my opinion) £25 per night. We found a parking spot 5 minutes walk away for £9 overnight, other than that definitely recommend this hotel.

Lovely location, clean and friendly staff. The 24 hour gym was an added bonus

Great property, walking distance from EVERYTHING! The only part is that there was no parking on site, however there is parking very close by!

Stay in York very good. Hotel ok. But parking is a joke. Would not rush back to stay at this hotel.

The staff were friendly enough but there are a distinct lack of facilities i.e room service and no welcome pack to provide any details i.e wi-fi or local amenities, the food was untried so i can not comment on that but the room was needing some tlc, wardrobe door handles and drawer handles with parts missing and shower screen with poorly fitting seals made for a very wet bathroom floor, also i think having to ask reception for a shower/bath mat is a bit much, the cast iron bath although a nice feature is slippy as without one

Brilliant location for York. Room was clean, tidy and spacious for 2 people. Air con was not working, but fans provided by reception. We did manage to secure parking, but there is limited parking first come first serve. Make sure you look up back up options and don't rely on the hotel parking. I would definitely stay here again, highly reccomend.

The layout of the property is labyrinthine and there was litter in the drawers of the room, the table was dusty, there were stains on the bed and towels, fixings falling off the wall and the windows were filthy. However, the staff were so great and helpful!

The first room they offered us was smelling to the point it made my wife feel uncomfortable, sick. The second room was tired, in need of a face lift. It was what they called a deluxe room all I could make out as a deluxe was a large bed. The room was tired, marks on the walls marks on the fitted sheet that you could see the minute you walked in to the room. That remained up till we checked out. View from the room is over the car park and bins. This is the forth Hilton I have stayed in and by far the worst. Hilton is in my mind a name for style and elegance. Not in this case. The room has two different outlets on the , white pvc and brushed satin. There are two different colours of skirting boards. Who does that. It felt like a that will do attitude no attention to detail. No table clothes in their dining room..we stayed in on night due to poor weather and decided to eat in the restaurant. There is a sign which says, please wait to be seated and our friendly staff will be happy to help. We waited and their friendly staff completely ignored us. This was a tall slim lad with dark hair and glasses, kitted out in a waist coat. I don’t think he spoke to us in the entire time we’re there. The tall weekend lady who helped out at breakfast was friendly , in my opinion, the only one. It was like we were given the cold shoulder treatment was because we complained about the first room, which in all honesty, I wouldn’t keep dogs in there. Really poor. I will not use this again.

The service and staff were excellent, the breakfast restaurant very good and clean, great selection of food. The real let down was the room. It had a damp smell, carpets were grubby, headboard had stains all over it!! Bathroom had no lock on door and had blood under the sink. Do ask for a room that doesn't have pets if you have any allergies to animals. We weren't told this either. Room 41, was at the far of the hotel and after the lift you had to climb 2 flights of stairs. Luckily we were there just for a weekend around York so weren't in the room much. Expected more from Hilton hotels.

The hotel disappoints as soon as you arrive. No curb appeal- Hotel split into various buildings annexes. It is more like a motel. Parking limited & crammed. Given a family room in an Annex at back of hotel which was by the laundry facilities & bin disposal, room accessed by dark steep damp smelling staircase to loft room. ( nightmare if u have small kids & cases) Only velux windows so no view, cold room with useless heater which flashed all night , a thin, old carpet , some wall & bathroom lights not working, shower arm fell off in my hand when tried to use & water flooded on to bathroom floor from cubicle which had mold in the corner- whole room depressing & claustrophobic . I asked if any other room was available & was told by miserable staff ‘no we are full ‘. The breakfast area was not big enough for all the guests. Only 1 coffee machine which we had to queue for. On check out we were offered a refund on our parking (£25) which then created a dispute over the card we used to pay for this which did not correspond with their system. Literally want to forget I was ever there!

Overall lovely staff, large comfy room, pleasant staff, very clean, brilliant breakfast. It was great that we got to leave our suitcases on site after checking out so we could have more time to look around!

We checked into the DoubleTree by Hilton York on 30th August 2025. We were allocated room 52 which is a duplex. The room was dingy, dirty with only half the lights working and slash marks on the wall. We went to the front desk and were allocated room 36 instead, but told to keep 52 for the water because the hot water was off in 36 In 52 there was no plug for the bath, the desk gave us one. On the evening of 30th August I got a call from the hotel saying it was a miscommunication about keeping room 52 and they needed it back. I said that we had originally booked that room for the bath as my husband can't fit in the showers. The manager asked that we keep 36 for the night and change again the next day. In the morning, accessing the bathroom in 36 we saw the appalling state of it. Mildew all over the shower, toilet and sink not attached to the wall, plugs hanging off, paint falling off the ceiling and all over the already dirty floor. I have photos and videos of this. We got out and went for breakfast where the staff there were loudly commenting on how much people had eaten and how fat they were. The front desk (who were fantastic by the way) changed our room again, to an actual clean one. All of this took a day and a half of our 2 day break and was so stressful and disappointing. On checking out we were given 25000 Hilton honors points as compensation. The hotel made the account, which was immediately hacked and someone changed the email connected to it and stole the points.

The room was dirty and had stains everywhere. There were holes in the floorboards which had been covered by the carpets and the bath panelling was falling about. The only redeeming quality is the location.

Need updating and tlc

We were in the Townhouse next door. Wifi not available, aircon broken, room was hot and very noisy, and noisier if windows are open as it is right on the street. Breakfast was just okay. Staff were friendly and mostly helpful. I would not stay here again. I expected better from Hilton.

Room was very dated, plug in oil filled heaters. Rooms accessed via lots of steps like a motel. Card access door to room corridors not functional. A poor experience and its not that cheap

Stayed at family room 42, it was at the attic, large spacious but under decorated. Bathrooms have been nearly refurbished but a sink was completely blocked. The windows are full of black mould and cow webs. One radiator was hanging off the wall. Two blinds are not working and the room is very dark and depressing looking. The room was warm but couldn’t use the air conditioning as it was so nosey. Shame as it would have been a lovely space. Urgent redecoration works are needed! Very disappointed.

The first room I slept in for one night was on ground floor bed 3 feet away from pavement it was surreal felt like there was people in the room and 3 lanes of traffic couldn’t sleep it was very dated and carpet was filthy. I spoke to Hazel who was brilliant she upgraded my room and the second night was far more pleasant. I don’t think Room 70 should be used or if it is customers should be warned of limitations.

Adequate hotel. Location was good, easy walking distance to the centre of York. Beds were not very comfortable, quite hard. Bathroom was small and not very good. Room was very noisy, as it looked out over a busy road. Wi-fi quality was poor, insufficient for even basic browsing.

I was constantly disturbed on the Sunday night by rowdy guests in and out of rooms on my corridor - the doors are the type that slam themselves shut. The reception and breakfast areas are well-maintained, the staff were polite and the breakfast was fairly extensive and very nice.

The hotel is in a great location. The staff are really friendly but the rooms not so good. It was very loud in our room with people walking down the corridors and you can hear everyone talking. The toilet was hanging off the wall and the room looked tired.

Room was on main road next to traffic lights . Very noisy

I was given a room on first floor , but then discovered I had 3 more flights of stairs to get into my loft style room ,the air conditioning couldn't cool the room down and it was very uncomfortable even with a fan.

We were put in a room that had no Wifi, no air conditioning and a fan. We were offered to move rooms, however, we were only there for 2 nights and this would take away from our time in York. Location is amazing!! Breakfast was ok, very crowded and hard to get coffee due to how close the coffee machine was to the buffet. Speciality coffee wasn't working on the second morning.

Probably worst hotel experience ever and we have stayed in a lot of hotels. Limited parking equals no parking unless disabled or electric car. BUT massive issue with our room. We were told needed to wait for room to be inspected after it was cleaned and we were there soon after 3 and official check in from 4pm. Fine but .. when we got to the room there weee 6 bags and cases in room from another guest, empty champagne bottle, used glasses and broken light dangling from the ceiling! Lied to by 2 members of staff therefore about an inspection. On complaining at the shambles and paying £250 for the pleasure for one night room only , we were upgraded to a deluxe room. No idea why they thought it was deluxe. Whole place is tired and clearly badly managed. Do not stay here

Problem at reception. My booking couldn't be found. Gave booking number. Still a problem. Then all of a sudden it turned up. Went to my room and it hadn't been cleaned. I have never met such incompetence in a chain hotel. Breakfast next morning. No record of my booking. 'They always get it wrong at reception.' I was informed. Hmm...

Furstly there was not any parking spaces as spaces was very limited. Not fully explained on there web site. Then we were given room keys to some other holiday makers room. Fortunately when we accessed the room the people were not in. Meaningless apology when we went back to reception to make them aware. They then gave us keys to an empty room. But on way to this room there were two couples heading to the lift saying that they had been given keys to someone else room. Unfortunately for them someone was in it and was not happy. The day before we were due to leave the key access stopped. I had to go back to reception. Again a meaningless apology.

Upon checking in, my husband and I were given room keys to occupied rooms, not once but twice! This seriously delayed our check in and left me witb no confidence that our things would be secure as I was able to waltz in to two people's rooms. It was supposedly down to a glitch in their system, but it's lucky I didn't walk in on any compromising situations. I was given a free drink for the trouble while the third room was checked to avoid the same mistake a third time, but no money was refunded off our stay. The third room we were put in was a bit tired looking with marks on the mirror, desk and walls but it was okay. Parking was very limited as well so we had to park further away from the building which wasn't the most ideal with the check in experience we had. We did end up staying the full duration of the 2 day trip as I couldn't find anywhere else to stay so last minute. We didn"t have any further issues, despite a bit of noise outside when we think Bins were being collected which I suppose can't be helped. Overall, I would not stay again or recommend as it definitely wasn't worth what we paid, or the stress and hassle it caused.

Had reservation, hotel overbooked itself and made us wait over 1.5 hours to locate us another (more expensive to us) hotel room at another location. I have never experienced such a thing traveling all my life and I am 52 so have traveled a lot over several decades.

Absolutely could not fault the staff. The room was clean and we enjoyed being close to York St John University and the shopping hub of the city centre. The food was okay although at breakfast there was sometimes bits missing or run out- no hot water for tea, run out of sausages, etc…. The staff were very attentive and the little texts to check in on us during our stay were lovely.

From my room's window I had the most beautiful of York Minster! The train station is a short, flat walk away. York Minster is less than 5 mins away and The Shambles was less than 10 mins. The room was quite comfortable, the breakfast was very hearty. I will be staying here again!!

Hotel is in a good location for the city walls, the minster and most of the centre attractions. Room clean and spacious and free breakfast on the room rate was fine. It was busy at peak times so avoid as there is not too many tables. Be wary of ordering a taxi from hotel. It never came and we almost missed our train. Train station a 15 minute dash from the hotel on foot!

Breakfast horrible eggs just like rubber, bacon tough and nut right warm. Properly was dated and chipped wood, floor in corridor had big dips in it so if you were unsteady on your feet you could have hurt yourself.

Very good location and the room was very spacious, however the breakfast was not good. Had to wait for items to come out and the bacon looked like it had been boiled. The coffee was in a flask and very weak. Not what I have experienced at other hotels in the chain.

Beautiful city. Central location. Tons of restaurants and shopping nearby. Welcoming and helpful staff. Could use a shelf in bathroom, since nowhere to place change of clothes or toiletries. Water from shower splashes everywhere. Otherwise great!

The highlight for us was dining in the restaurant. Our server Amy was fantastic. The food was excellent value, and the service was just the right pace. The location is easy to reach and then less than a minute walk to the inner city. I would highly recommend DoubleTree by Hilton York for future visits.

A good hotel in an excellent location for visitors to York. Welcoming and clean. Rooms small but have everything you need. Breakfast was good but restaurant in the evening felt unorganised and menu pretty basic and some offerings a bit odd and some components of dishes really didn’t work well together but all in all an enjoyable stay and would go again.

The hotel is in a great location, only a few minutes walk from York Minster. Our family room had lots of space and a big bathroom with the added bonus of a view of York Minster. Check in staff were fab and checked us in to our room early. The only downer was that the pastries ran out one our first morning.
