Urban Hotel Grantham

The hotel was good value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was excellent (119) with king size bed and plenty of room. The bathroom was newly decorated and the shower very good. The room, corridors and reception area were clean and tidy. The only negative is that there is no food on site and the leisure facilities are no longer open and will probably never re-open. Food and drink can be found nearby at The Farrier attached to the Premier Inn which was nearly double the price for a nights stay. People who we were meeting stayed there and were disappointed as it was noisy. In contrast, we found The Urban was very quiet. In summary, I would recommend people to stay here whether they are on a business or leisure trip.

The staff were pleasant and the room was clean. The restaurant and pool were not avaliable and there seemed to be a lot of repair work going on.

Excellent conference venue BUT very shocked that there was no restaurant or bar available. I had to go and explore Grantham to find a supermarket to purchase some provisions

We stayed at the Urban Leisure last night and it was quite an experience! Pulling into the dark, empty car park scattered with leaves, it felt completely deserted — almost like we’d stepped into a movie set. Inside, we were warmly welcomed by a lovely receptionist (who seemed to be running the whole place on her own!). All the facilities were closed, and with the red carpets and long, silent corridors, the whole place gave off serious Overlook Hotel vibes from The Shining — eerie but kind of brilliant in its own way. Check-in was quick and pleasant, our room was large, clean, and had a nice bathroom. Probably the cheapest hotel we’ve ever stayed in — and yet one of the most memorable! The kids (and my husband) spent the evening running around exploring and making spooky videos. If you’re after a bit of quirky fun and don’t mind a quiet atmosphere, it’s definitely a stay you won’t forget.

The staff were polite on arrival and departure. Room was nice and bed very comfortable. Only negative was that there was nowhere to get an evening meal or breakfast.

The hotel generally looks a bit tired. The bar opens ad hoc and there is nothing on draft, therefore you are left with cans or bottles, which considering the level/condition of the hotel are quite expensive. On my recent stay the boiler had been turned off and I had to wait for a couple of hours after coming back in from working to have a shower.

This is an independent, family owned hotel which was obviously quite grand in the past and which is conveniently just minutes from the A1. Whilst the decor is showing signs of being dated, everywhere was very clean. Our room was spacious enough to have a small table and chairs, well equipped, and with a modern shower room having a large shower cubicle. We were met by a happy and informative receptionist. We were only on an overnight stay on our way back from Scotland to London, but would be happy to stay again if the need arose. Currently there are no restaurant facilities but we were informed that they are hoping to offer breakfast in the near future.

The staffs are lovely, Room are neglected, my bed was torn in places. The one coffee mug, not cleaned properly, even one of the bed was made properly. Toilet is uncomfortable. Location is great, for exploring.

It was cheap, and the bed was comfy. That was all the pros. No food available as the restaurant has been closed for refurb, for quite some time now. The room hadn’t been used for a while, as there was a layer of dust on everything. Stains on the armchairs, a hole on the divan, and the ceiling had dull line for the rafters. I wasn’t expected 5 star, as it was cheap. But it felt really cheap.

This place is not fit to be run as a hotel. How have they not been inspected by health and safety?? Stayed with a group, some rooms literally uncleaned after previous occupant.....beds unchanged, sheets smelling of aftershave, bins unemptied, toilets unflushed etc. Bed linen and matresses in dire need of changing. Water in shower scalding temperatures and no way to alter it. Simple things lacking such as hairdriers. Atmosphere in the place is eerie.....no bar, restaurant facilities when we visited and absolutely no acknowledgement of this prior to visit or on check in. Staff couldn't care any less. TRULY AWFUL EXPERIENCE......couldn't wait to leave!!

Upon arrival on the 30th of October, we immediately noticed that the room was unsanitary and in an unacceptable condition. The bedclothes and sheets had clearly not been changed prior to our arrival this was due to the smell of perfume on areas of the bed sheets and also there was a strong, unpleasant smell throughout the room. We raised this issue with the night porter, who assured us that housekeeping would address it the following morning. Unfortunately, we were unable to sleep that night due to the state of the bed and the condition of the room.The condition of the duvet, pillows and mattress are dirty and worn well below standards for a chargeable hotel stay and fee. We were also with a large group who booked and prior to there arrival had to change room 3 times before giving the a room with a unsanitary toilet as there was faeces left and bed was unmade the same reasoning was giving from the night porter/receptionist that house keeping would come in the morning to address the matter.In addition, the bathroom side panel was coming away from the shower, with visible scum present, and the shower hose was not properly fitted, detaching whenever the shower was turned on. The overall condition of the room was very dated and, in my opinion, uninhabitable.Given these issues, we decided to depart on the morning of 31st October, two days earlier than planned, and informed your staff of the situation at checkout. We had no choice but to secure alternative accommodation ourselves.

Had a great stay at the Urban. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the room was very clean, and the bed was super soft and comfy. Given the location, it was surprisingly peaceful and quiet, with road noise at a minimum within the hotel. Great transport links, and a lovely walk into town.

Arrived at 1am, got to the room and found it was not what we had booked. The room we required was not available. The shower only had one temperature and that was scolding hot so couldn’t be used. After speaking to reception (whom the staff were lovely couldn’t fault them) they was unable to provide us a different room that night but managed to change us to a family room for our second night stay. Rooms are dated, beds were comfortable.

actually, the hotel was fine. but need to do much maintenance work to maintain. the acoustic insulation need to be improve and If restaurant reopen will be help much. Anyway, for staying 1 or 2 night is fine.

Room took over 4 hours to heat up, went to bed in the end (once it warmed up at 40° Cit could be turned down to 27°C which was comfortable for the rest of the stay (2 night stay). Put the trouser press on to help heat up (helped a little) Towel rail in bathroom didn’t work at all and no further heating in there. Carpets a bit threadbare in places too. Staff were nice and friendly.

We only stayed one night, and arrived late, after 10:30 p.m. Unfortunately, the heating had not been switched on, and the room was very cold. Neither of slept well because of the cold, so I'm sorry to say we did not enjoy our stay. The room itself was very nice, clean, and the beds were good. The shower was excellent too.

Starting with the positives... great customer service... front desk super friendly. Clean property and temp control fine. Down sides... room is pretty dated and the bed is pretty soft. For the money not too bad.

Check-in was friendly and helpful and accommodating, the lobby area was spacious and open, my bedroom was large/spacious/clean. The bathroom was clean with an excellent shower and facilities. (NB: The hotel has recently acquired new owners and an extensive renovation has commenced and as a result not all areas are accessible/usable ...... YET!) There is no restaurant or room service available other than beverage facilities in the room. The grounds surrounding the hotel desperately need work and tidying up. HOWEVER, work is visibly in progress and the staff that are on site excel in customer service. The hotel is definitely on the way up! I would recommend it unreservedly👍👍👍👍

Check was smooth and easy. Room was stone cold on arrival. No heating on at all and bathroom radiator would not turn on. Room heated up after about an hour of having the panel heater on however maintenances to be called to resolve the issue in the bathroom. An extra duvet was requested that did not arrive until a second request was made for it. Bed was lovely and large however could have had a firmer mattress for my liking. Overall a pleasant room for the cost.

Perfect 👌 friendly staff, served me with the drink even the bar was closed. Big and clean and war room, nice shower. 24h check in reception. Would definitely recommend it.

Excellent short, one night stop here, arrived about 1800, check in was smooth and quick, staff helpful and friendly, only a short walk to the room. The room was massive clean and the bed very comfortable. It was Sunday night and there was a painter in the corridor decorating, but quiet and no bother. Room had all the expected; toiletries, towels, Wi-Fi, large tv and even a trouser press. We were up and out at 0600 the next morning to race in a local triathlon at Belvoir Castle, night porter was cheerful and polite as we left. It’s easy to find, just off the motorway, has a pub only a 2min drive away for food and Grantham and Belvoir Castle close by. VFM this has to be one of the best one night stops I’ve had in a hotel, it was less than £60 on hotels.com and I don’t have anything negative to say. Will definitely use again when I’m in the area.

Room (Board room 4 & 3) had 2 double beds and new bathroom. A/c doesn’t work No facilities: no restaurant or bar so room only. Long walking distance to town but no problems getting a taxi. Only annoyed about having paid £61 but could have got the room for £45.

free parking - impressive reception area - but carpet quality is poor in hallways. Our room was decent size with TV and shower area [all looks new] and the room was pleasantly cool as the temp outside was 30C and there is no air con in the room. Bed was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. At £63 for the night we thought it very good value. The only down side is that there is no on site restaurant for evening or breakfast but there is a restaurant nearby.

We loved everything about it only thing that was disappointing was no restaurant open at that moment of time

Staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was very clean, well equipped with everything I could have needed. Quiet, a comfortable bed and a great powerful shower! Free parking. Very accessible, very affordable, The only downside was no food but there was a lovely restaurant just a few minutes walk up the road. Would definitely stay again :)
