We absolutely loved this hotel - the room was spacious and well kept and stocked. Shout out to our daily room attendant, Momin who was very pleasant and responsive/perceptive to our needs. Loved the pool and the garden and whole property including the spa where you get your services in your own mini villa - that’s luxury! The pool was also amazing with excellent service for food and drinks and towels. Every morning as soon as they saw us they would walk over with the towels and set up the loungers for us. When it got busy we noticed that the attendants would work hard to find loungers for everyone including bringing chairs over from another area to the pool area. Saved the best for last - the food is incredible - the selection especially of local foods/dishes and taste! Shout out to the dining room manager, Vijay who seemed to be there all the time and working hard to provide the best service to us guests. For us, this was a hotel that clearly goes above and beyond so kudos - keep it up, we will definitely be back and strongly recommend it to family and friends!

We loved this resort. We upgraded to Rasa wing and enjoyed excellent additional services, such as afternoon tea and a cocktail hour. The resort is well maintained and the staff are friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very clean. They offer an array of dining options at the resort and the food was excellent. There is also a spa and other activities, such as a pitch and putt course. Additionally, the resort is within walking distance to an area where there are many restaurants and other tourist attractions all with local flavor. Downtown Georgetown is about a 30 minute drive away. (There is a lot of traffic on the island.) This resort is ideal for people who want to be away from the hustle and bustle of Georgetown. (Hotel offers a shuttle service to Georgetown). It’s definitely a place to relax and unwind.

Nice resort and rooms looking onto pool and beach area have a nice outlook. Large breakfast areas, we were in the rasa wing with club facilities, food in lounge was nice, staff in lounge were lovely however the lounge is v large and often extremely busy. There isn’t really a beach as the coast has eroded and is all rocks. We had a pleasant stay however have been in nicer shangrila hotels.

Super große Auswahl beim Frühstück-Buffet, unbedingt mit buchen. Man bekommt alles von lokalen Tees unf Kaffees zu internationalen Speisen. Sehr sauber und tolle Zimmer. Pool auch sehr sauber. Die Außeneinrichtung kommt etwas in die Jahre von der Sonne, aber hat uns nicht gestört. Im Meer kann man aufgrund der Quallen leider nicht schwimmen.

The pool area was fabulous. I’ve included a photo from our balcony looking at a 200 year-old tree. The hotel staff were so very gracious and friendly. This is easily one of the top two hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Our room was huge, with a very modern bathroom.

Overall a great stay. Rooms spacious and have a great view over the garden, pool and sea view. Staff were really friendly and aside from check in, all incredibly helpful and pleasant. Good breakfast buffet. Great pool options, good gym and even has a par 3 pitch and putt which was a bit of fun. Special shoutout to Karim and Muru. Only downside was the check in - 3pm check in and they still could not get a room ready or allocated to us until 4.30pm (we had to leave 5pm for a booking that they were aware of). We were simply told sorry and had to constantly follow up. Was evdient the resort was not at capacity either. Room was obviously rushed as mugs were missing, used utensils still in room etc. Was rectified urgently by Karim. Would return, hopefully with a better check in experience

Check in experience not good, no smile, not friendly, slow and dosent know what she is doing. Keep asking the same question despite answered her 3 different times. Prolonging the check in process by Asking to show my hotels.com booking number so on and so forth. I have drove 5 hrs to reach ur resort n very tiring.. Totally different from Shangri-La KL check in process which is fast n friendly. Bell men ignoring u just because im an asian dosent mean i dont tips.. not helpful at all even seeing me with a lots of luggage n bags. But when westerner came in, swamp to them. Room very nice and great view. Water pressure slow. Bath room pressure Became even slower (like 2 lines of pee) if i on the balcony bath tub tab to fill up the tub. Bath tub not clean by Housekeeping staff dead insects still around with aged n dried lizard poos Housekeeping runner Hassan(not room attendant Hassan on 2456 floor) very accommodative , knowing im having leg sore , he placed the 2 hard pillow at the bottom of the bed. FNB staffs all with a smile. Chef at roti bakar prepare the roti without me asking after the first day he know how i want my roti bakar. Impressive! Check out experience very professional and great by the indian lady (not able to catch her name) The whole experience changed from worst to great by the caring runner, attentive fnb staffs n the great checkout experience.

The worst hotel experience ever. Poop stain on blanket, blood stain on pillow case and period blood stain on THREE body towels. This is not the worst - the first thing to say morning to you is a HUGE COCKROACH running around your bathroom and crawling on your toothbrush It’s totally unacceptable for a Shanghai la. Just book another hotel but not this one.

Stayed here twice within a week. On both occasions check in was extremely slow. On the first stay 3-5/12 the reception staff all huddled together around the computer screen and it took awhile to check me in. Once in my ‘superior’ room I discovered my view was that of the parking lot and not at all as described on the hotels.com website. This was rectified but only after I had to return to reception and provide them with screenshots taken from my booking. This was wholly inconvenient and caused some stress on my arrival. Nevertheless it was sorted and I was happy with the ‘upgrade’ which was perfect for me on my own. The bellboy Haroun was particularly fabulous helping me settle into my ‘deluxe king room’ with patio and small garden which had easy access to the adult only Rasa pool, the Spice Cafe for brekky, the garden loungers beach side where I had a wonderfully relaxing foot reflexology massage looking out at the soothing waves in the shore. Pool staff also very courteous and helpful. All round after the checkin and room issue, I felt looked after and can say I felt safe as a woman on her own in this stay. The ‘ghurkha’ guards patrolling also contributed to the comfort and security of my stay. On the second stay 10-13/12 I had to ask the check in girl if she spoke English as didn’t seem to understand my booking. On both occasions the check in was far from VIP as advocated by hotels.com. However they had reserved my previous ‘upgraded’ room allocation and was happy.

The resort is beautiful and very well maintained. Right upon check-in, the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The rooms was great. The additional amenities for the Rasa Wing guests is well worth it if you're planning to enjoy the hotel throughout the day. They offer a complimentary tea hour, as well as a cocktail hour. It is around a 30-40 minute drive to George Town, so not that convenient if you're planning to visit the town often. I highly recommend this hotel.

The Shangri-La Rasa is truly a 5 star hotel. Overlooking the Malacca Straight, our room with balcony provided a spectacular view. Service is exceptional. The hotel’s Spice restaurant provided by far the best meals we had in Malaysia.

The beach was not very good, small and not very clean. During night we could hear noise from the hallway when we were trying to sleep. They should improve the sound isolation. The room is somewhat wormed down, especially the bathroom and toilet. TV is old as well. The curtains are amazing keeping the room completely dark in the morning. Cocktails are quite bland, my favorite is pina colada and it just tasted like pineapple juice with added coconut milk, not creamy at all. We tried all restaurants and spice market gave us the best experience, Nasi Goreng was great. We will probably not come back to Penang as a whole, we are looking for a more tropical experience.

This is a popular hotel. We had trouble checking in, and even though we were tired from our long trip, we had to wait quite a while to get to our room. The staff at the front desk were slow to respond, and it seemed like they were understaffed, probably because it's a large hotel. Also, because it's an old hotel, the facilities were noticeably worn out. The only good thing about it was the beautiful garden. The food was average. What an absolutely fantastic stay at the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang! From the moment we arrived, we were swept away by this beautiful resort. Unforgettable Experience The rooms were wonderful, offering a perfect blend of comfort and elegance. And the food? Simply amazing! Every meal was a delightful culinary journey. We especially loved the tranquil atmosphere of the quiet adults-only pool – it was the perfect escape for relaxation. Exceptional Service A special shout-out goes to Michelle, the Front Office Manager. Her attention to detail and genuine care for us was truly remarkable. We were so grateful for the room upgrade she provided; it made our stay even more special. We also have to commend the room service attendant who catered to all our needs with such efficiency and a friendly demeanor. Their service was truly awesome! Every aspect of our stay at the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang exceeded our expectations. We can't wait to return to this little slice of paradise!

Hello, Our family recently had a wonderful and comfortable stay at Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the staff at the resort. There is a special message I would like to convey. I have visited many hotels and resorts, but I have never encountered someone who managed the room with such perfection as I did during this stay. I was so impressed with his service that I remember his name. His name is Mr. Monir. He took the time to understand our family’s patterns and preferences and made sure to prepare the room meticulously in advance. In the late afternoon, he visited us to ask if there was anything uncomfortable or if we needed anything. His bright smile and warm expression at that moment were filled with genuine care. Lovely hotel in great location The hotel is ready for a refresh of the decor and furnishings, looking a little bit tired and dated in places. Staff are welcoming and helpful. We ended up being here in August, hot and humid (not through choice, but necessity!) and a November to March break would be a better time to visit for the weather

Facility -everything was perfect! Well- deserved five-star hotel. Neat and clean furnitures and well- cared garden and pool. The breakfast is must have. Try local coffee. Try egg cooking. All staff was gentle, well trained. The most of the request you have come true. One thing I have to mention is the environment of the hotel. The traffic is awful. Crossing street is always challenging.

This is a beautiful hotel and grounds, breakfast is the best EVER, pool was great/warm. Despite having a lot of guests there, it didn't feel overly crowded. It's also walkable to the little market area, which was nice, and pretty close/fast to the Penang National Park, which was nice. Definitely quite a haul to Georgetown with traffic - in the 45 mins range minimum/1 hr to the airport which seems far in a small area. We loved it though and are glad we stayed here - just don't think (as I did) that you can pop back and forth to Georgetown easily.

Virkelig godt resort. Det sødeste personale og lækker location til afslapning. Lidt dyrt på hotellet, men rigtig god mad lige udenfor døren.

Das Hotel befindet sich in Batu Ferringhi, eine Stadt im Norden von Penang. Die Fahrt vom Flughafen dauert je nach Verkehrslage/Uhrzeit 1 bis 1,5 Stunden. In der Stadt gibt es jeden Abend einen Night Market, der vor allem am Wochenende auch gerne von den Locals besucht wird, was zu entsprechenden Staus führt. In der fußläufigen Umgebung gibt es viele verschiedene Essensmöglichkeiten. Die Unterkunft ist sehr stivoll (indisch geprägt) eingerichtet und ist sehr sauber. Auch die vorhandenen Pools und sonstigen Einrichtungen (Tischtennis,etc.) fanden wir sehr gut. Wir fanden die Preise für Getränke etwas hoch, aber das ist für ein 5-Sterne Haus wohl entsprechend. Alles in Allem haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt und würden bei einem zukünftigen Besuch auf Penang auf jeden Fall wieder dieses Hotel wählen.

A relaxing resort with good food, excellent facilities and attentive professional staff, especially in the Ferringhi Grill restaurant. We enjoyed the variety of foods available especially breakfast. The upkeep of the garden and pool areas is to be congratulated and the cleanliness of the accommodation is excellent.

Staff was not very friendly, food was tolerable. Coffee was horrendous, but they did have Kopi in the mornings. The NYE BBQ was not worth the money... the cooks tried to serve raw squid as cooked. it was ridiculous

The Shangri-La Rasa is truly a 5 star hotel. Overlooking the Malacca Straight, our room with balcony provided a spectacular view. Service is exceptional. The hotel’s Spice restaurant provided by far the best meals we had in Malaysia.

We stayed in Rasaya wing, as we always go for a suite. The room size, layout, the ambience everything was perfect. The access to the lounge was a bonus that we didn’t expect. The staff were fantastic. The only downside was the quality of the vegetarian options. What we ordered for in room dining was totally unpalatable even with hungry stomach. Looks like they have no idea about vegetarian cooking. I did speak to the Chef and the manager about this. Because we would like revisit this property for a longer duration.

Super große Auswahl beim Frühstück-Buffet, unbedingt mit buchen. Man bekommt alles von lokalen Tees unf Kaffees zu internationalen Speisen. Sehr sauber und tolle Zimmer. Pool auch sehr sauber. Die Außeneinrichtung kommt etwas in die Jahre von der Sonne, aber hat uns nicht gestört. Im Meer kann man aufgrund der Quallen leider nicht schwimmen.

Fantastic hotel, staff very friendly and helpful, very clean and in walking distance to all shop's bars and restaurants not that you need to eat out as the food at the hotel was great.
