I had such a lovely stay. The property is very central with off road parking. The staff are lovely and very friendly. Little details like free water and replacement shampoo and body wash were really appreciated. Then the added bonus of an on site Malaysian restaurant meant a fantastic final night meal.

I loved my three days here. I've seen some criticisms, and I thought I ought to address them. The building is old: there isn't a lift and the floors creak. That's called character. I had a single-bed room and it was cosy - reminding me of my University halls of residence accommodation, but all I was doing was sleeping there so it was fine. The pillows were firm, but I like them firm. If you don't like firm pillows then you have been warned - bring your own. The staff were amazingly friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant was amazing. For the price, this place is a gem. Not only would I go back; I will be going back.

It was super cool. Parking, room, bed, bathroom, wifi and an excellent choice of food in the bar. Really enjoyed the stay. We were staying close to the stoneleigh show ground. Excellent choice. 100% will be back. The main man, the waiter, bar man, manager, host - Sumo. (Spelling not right I’m sure sorry. TOP BLOKE. Really welcoming and an excellent hotelier

I often stay in the area midweek for work and always pick this hotel if they have space. Great location on the edge of town with onsite parking. The staff are friendly offering recommendation for the local area. The rooms are good value, clean & comfortable beds. Good Wi-Fi connection in every rooms I’ve stayed in. It must be very difficult for an independent hotel like this in the current climate but they’re doing a great job upgrading the rooms when they can. Will be staying again

The facilities are all very clean and the staff are friendly and obliging. Coming down to breakfast early, because I confused the days, I was served directly by a very helpful man before the chef was available, and it ensured that I was in good time for appointments. The layout of the rooms within the hotel is convoluted, but I was readily provided with help in bringing equipment downstairs, and my case was safely stored on the day of my departure until I could collect it. The hotel restaurant is worth checking for its lovely cuisine. The room was comfortable and had everything provided as mentioned in the details.

Clean and convenient location. Room small and shower rather dribbly electric one. Guy next door snoring a lot. But warm and nice bed. Parking a bit tight as car park large but seemed to be full of tradesmen's vans as maybe renting out the space. Staff quite friendly and helpful. For the price, good value. Would not pay more than I did.

Good overall but room above the kitchen so the sound of pumps/motors all night could be challenging if you're a light sleeper. However there are other rooms away from the Kitchen. Lots of stairs so not good if stairs are a challenge

There was a family staying on the same floor leaving the doors open and children making a lot of noise. The shower didn’t work properly so was unable to have a proper wash. The TV remote was filthy, covered in food. Also there was a noodle in the bed.

Did not have room we booked available, the room door handle was broken and kept falling off, the toilet was stained and the seat did not fit, mouldy shower cubicle, carpets were filthy, heard every voice and the floorboards were severely noisy, the bedding was very thin including the pillows, and the toilet roll holder was nearly falling off. But on the bright side the hair dryer worked. Checked out a day early.

As I opened door to room, smelt cigarette smell and had to go up shop to get air freshener, no lock on door.Hotel needed a good clean stair rails need cleaning and door handles.Charged for things I didn’t have.Not be back.Shame could be a nice hotel.

Friendly and easy check in, easy to find and park with a decent sized room for the price paid. Unfortunately the carpet in room 302 seemed to have not been vacuumed and wasn’t in particularly good or clean condition also there was what appeared to be a small amount of dried faeces on the toilet seat.

Very comfortable bed, albeit the room was a little on the small size. Bathroom very clean, although the shower was a little temperamental. Very courteous and obliging staff. Extremely reasonable price for a Christmas stay. Thank you, everyone!

The room was huge, plenty of space and the bed was comfy. The bathroom, whilst clean, was in poor condition, I.e. the bath had a large crack meaning we didn’t feel it safe to use during our stay. This was a shame as we don’t have a large bath at home and we would have liked to use it during our stay. The food and service was good. Friendly staff too who were very helpful.

Room 110 reeked of smoke (curtains, carpets, blankets, pillows) making sleep impossible. The corridor outside the room provided a preview. After complaining I was moved to a different room that was much better. Both bathrooms were good though.

Stay wasn’t the best experience. Booked a twin room, we were given a double, told there was nothing that could be done. Came back the evening after, there was someone else in our room and we were told we have been moved! We weren’t told of the room change!

Were told breakfast was at 7am went down then told 7.30 am then told he was ringing the chef to see where she was couldn’t wait only got 50 per cent refund.Asked for extra duvet told none available.Waited nearly half an hour to be served at the bar with only one person in front of me.Drop the name peacock should be Faulty towers won’t be staying there again.

I may just have been unfortunate to have experienced "the perfect storm" but..... When I arrived I was not expected. Fortunately, I had printed my Hotels.com documentation and we were able to resolve the matter quickly. The room itself was cold and the manager/proprietor was very defensive about this. Furthermore, he would not come to the room to switch on the heater. The heater eventually came on at 1.45 am (waking me up with its noise). It is easy to see, therefore, that if the manager had been aware that I was arriving, he might have checked the room and switched the heater on so that the room was warm on my arrival. Had both these things happened, I might have had a much more favourable view of this hotel. For the benefit of any readers of these comments, I would add that I prefer the room to be cool so if it is too cold for me, many travellers would find it impossibly cold.

Furthermore, he would not come to the room to switch on the heater. The heater eventually came on at 1.45 am (waking me up with its noise). It is easy to see, therefore, that if the manager had been aware that I was arriving, he might have checked the room and switched the heater on so that the room was warm on my arrival. Had both these things happened, I might have had a much more favourable view of this hotel. For the benefit of any readers of these comments, I would add that I prefer the room to be cool so if it is too cold for me, many travellers would find it impossibly cold.

I often stay in the area midweek for work and always pick this hotel if they have space. Great location on the edge of town with onsite parking. The staff are friendly offering recommendation for the local area. The rooms are good value, clean & comfortable beds. Good Wi-Fi connection in every rooms I’ve stayed in. It must be very difficult for an independent hotel like this in the current climate but they’re doing a great job upgrading the rooms when they can. Will be staying again

The hotel could not provide me with a copy of the 'paid' invoice at the end of the stay because they had run out of paper. This typified it. Advertised breakfast times only meant were for a cold breakfast (which was not made clear). On one day the cook was late (20 min), the next day she was in a car accident; I gave up after 40 minutes. I still don't know if I paid for the breakfast that I didn't take because even after 3 reminders to the hotel via Expedia I have yet to receive a statement. The good news. They kindly checked me in 1 hour early. The town if very nice. It's an old style hotel that, in part, is charming.

I had such a lovely stay. The property is very central with off road parking. The staff are lovely and very friendly. Little details like free water and replacement shampoo and body wash were really appreciated. Then the added bonus of an on site Malaysian restaurant meant a fantastic final night meal.

It was super cool. Parking, room, bed, bathroom, wifi and an excellent choice of food in the bar. Really enjoyed the stay. We were staying close to the stoneleigh show ground. Excellent choice. 100% will be back. The main man, the waiter, bar man, manager, host - Sumo. (Spelling not right I’m sure sorry. TOP BLOKE. Really welcoming and an excellent hotelier

I had such a lovely stay. The property is very central with off road parking. The staff are lovely and very friendly. • Room was largely as expected for the price, albeit small. • Had to bang the door lock to make the key card work most times • The hair dryer sparked inside when I used it • Was charged a different amount for continental breakfast than what the menu said • Actually quite difficult to find out about breakfast, nothing on website, no menus posted up, etc, had to ask for one • Food in the restaurant was excellent, had dinner there. However it was a shame that the dining room is so clinical (too bright and cold-feeling – not so much the temperature as the décor); there was linen on the tables in the adjacent room, but no one seemed to be allowed to eat in there even though it looked nicer. • 2 restaurants were mentioned on the website, but there was no evidence of this in the hotel and if you click on the Townhouse bar & grill menu, you get the same one as for Raffles • Staff seemed nice, even if overall the stay was a little disappointing I did email them with the issues before I left this review but they did not reply

Were told breakfast was at 7am went down then told 7.30 am then told he was ringing the chef to see where she was couldn’t wait only got 50 per cent refund.Asked for extra duvet told none available.Waited nearly half an hour to be served at the bar with only one person in front of me.Drop the name peacock should be Faulty towers won’t be staying there again.

The facilities are all very clean and the staff are friendly and obliging. Coming down to breakfast early, because I confused the days, I was served directly by a very helpful man before the chef was available, and it ensured that I was in good time for appointments. The layout of the rooms within the hotel is convoluted, but I was readily provided with help in bringing equipment downstairs, and my case was safely stored on the day of my departure until I could collect it. The hotel restaurant is worth checking for its lovely cuisine. The room was comfortable and had everything provided as mentioned in the details.

Since we were travelling with kids we had written to the property in Hotels.com to request connecting rooms as we were told we could, never got an answer and did not get connecting rooms. Réception said they never got the message. This hotel is dated, one room was spacious, the other one was small. No AC during heat wave, just some small fans. We had to open windows during the night but had to smell the smoking and hear the talking from downstairs. TV not working after attempt to change the remote and get instructions to turn it on.
