The hotel was lovely as it’s in a great location and has a nice garden area but some things in the spa wasn’t so great foot spa wasn’t working one of the pool was also not in use most importantly there was no drinking water in the spa area you had to go out in the cold to get water also on the website it’s said bath robes were included but it wasn’t you had to pay extra to get one. in the end I got ill however restaurant, food and service was great. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend it.

Lovely property and location. Spa was great, although jacuzzi and outdoor area not working on Sunday. Breakfast was good, not excellent, rooms fine, just a little tired and dated. Expected of this type of hotel though. Lounge area, bar and gardens lovely

The room was not clean. Seveal cob webs all around the bed. We woke up the next morning with several spider bites. It was horrific! The bed and sofa were very dusty with white feather like items on it. We requested room service for a toothpaste kit. They came up to the room with just one. We were a couple and the hotel was well aware of that. Overall the room was dirty and we had to live with spiders for the night.

The tables in the restaurant are filthy. I sat at 3 different tables and my arms are sticking to the table. I would actually fly over from Switzerland (for free) to teach your staff how to do it properly. Breakfast is like a motorway shack. Coffee and milk always empty and plates at table never cleared. Staff (some) behind bar are pretty useless and can’t be bothered. How they get a job is beyond us. Food below average at best. Staff in spa looking at their phones when you ask a question about towels / bath robes (although spa facilities are good - even if many machines in gym are a little tired). And to cap it all, we were double charged on the room rate. Of course picked up by us but it’s ok because even though the hotel takes the charge on our card and we pay the daily interest, it will be refunded (not the interest of course) in 5 days. Such a shame because it’s a lovely venue but just no management in sight to train the staff. It’s a really easy fix.

Lovely looking place and very helpful and friendly staff, rooms unfortunately a let down, a bit grubby, worn furniture, marks and stains on the bedding and the bed was a twin pushed together which I nearly fell through the middle of and the bathroom sink was cracked in multiple places. This was all an executive room too so not sure what we got over a standard. Wouldnt stay there again.

Pool itself was nice and big but around the edge at the bottom there was a lot of dirt/debris. Despite that the water was clear. Service in bar was poor. It was not particularly busy but took over an hour for the overpriced burger and chips to arrive. Guinness poured out of an £8 can by barman who shook the can as he was pouring

An appalling experience. I booked a suite for £229. On the pictures it looked great. The hotel is amazing outside but inside its terrible. Ive stopped in better Travel Lodges and cleaner hotels on lads holidays in Mallorca for the same price for a week! Firstly there was what looked like blood splatters from an alfred hitchcock film in the room, broken light fitting, bed was resring on what looked like chip board. The room should have had a bath in the room. There was mould in the bathroom and that had a standard bath. Dust on every surface, spatters on the mirror. Decaying window frames. To make matters worse I went back onto hotels.com to check the room photos of my booking. Turns out they had inflated the price. The exact room was now on at £149 per night. Thats called price gouging and is illegal. They gave me an immediate refund and we left. Instead we went to The White Swan in Statford upon avon centra which was amazing. Easy to park behind it too. That was £230 a night. We later found out if we book direct we can book it cheaper and will definitely be going back! For £229 Id expect minimum 4 star hotel with it not falling a part. We got a 1 star experience that you’d expect from going to some crap bnb in Blackpool for £29 a night.

Don’t normally review but felt this place was well below par. First room smelt of sewerage and the second was small, hot and uncomfortable this was room 005. Tried to upgrade but was told they were sold out. For £167 a night without breakfast it was over priced and uncomfortable. Mainly paying for the surrounding not the hotel itself. Very dated and not clean. Hairs everywhere and carpets need changing not cleaning!

Nice old character building. Good Spa facilities, staff friendly & helpful. Breakfast was lovely. Need to focus on cleaning though, using a hover in the public area especially dining room & focus on the cobwebs around windows. Overall a nice stay.

Overall very disappointed, so looking forward to going here but it fell way short of our expectations. Beautiful building that hasn't been made the most of. Complete lack of information, no explanation regarding how breakfast works, where to go in the spa, there is no room service menu in the room, no information on treatments available. Lovely pool but no cleaners in sight, people were leaving bottles around the pool and in the changing room someone had even left an apple core in the lancarium(?) We had room service the first night after googling the bar menu, the pizza was burnt to a crisp but after an hour of waiting we were starving. Went to the bar our second night, unfortunately no vegetarian burger so pizza again, just as blackened as the first night. Our room was in the furtherest wing possible and down 2 flights of stairs but there was no offer of help with any luggage. Our tea and milks weren't refreshed for the second night. Lots of small things that spoiled what should have been a nice break. Will not be back.

I though the building and gardens speak for itself in the pictures, it was a great place to soak in culture but for someone on business time, accessing wifi was problematic , it kept dipping out. It was also very hot in the rooms with no aircon. The baths were small and the rooms were okay

Found the room to be qute noisy. Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice. Room was clean. Intermittent Internet in the room for my partner who was on the hotel wifi.

Stayed twice in two weeks first for business, I had a beautiful room , the following week I stayed with my wife but as hotel full I got a room in what we called ’steerage’ the room was so hot it was uncomfortable even with windows open and for some reason we both felt unwell staying in that room but felt better when we went upstairs. Both occasions of stay the rest of the hotel was very good . I think one of the bar staff could do with a check on his attitude as it was commented by a couple of colleagues but this was very small and didn’t really affect me. the hotel and staff are great and I would definitely stay again.

We stayed for one night in a suite. The hotel is grand and impressive however the room was a little dated and there were damp patches in the bathroom. There was no shelf in the shower to rest your shampoo/conditioner/shower gel which would stop you from having to leave your toiletries on the floor. Just a simple addition really. Also, in this day and age I think plug sockets should contain USB charging points too. A lovely hotel overall, just a little tired and old fashioned

Sadly we were in a room that had an interconnecting ( locked ) door to another occupied room. This meant that there wasn’t any real sound proofing and so we could hear everything clearly including snoring all night that kept me awake. Then the TV from 5 am. I fed-back to the gentleman on reception. He just suggested I ask for an upgrade next time.

All good. Service was a little slow on the occasions I used this, which was more to do with the staff being stretched rather than individual levels of service. Not sufficient staff for volumes of people at the bar and breakfast

Check-in was good, but I had to keep asking questions about the property, I think staff should be a little more attentive. The hotel is nice with a lot of old features. My room was very spacious, a comfortable bed and good size bathroom. Unfortunately I couldn't close the bedroom window, but thankfully the property is safe. The garden was lovely, especially on a sunny day. Going into town was easy and walkable, I did a lot of window shopping. I enjoyed the spa and treatments. Overall a nice property.

Very disappointed with the service waited overcan hour to have my dinner served breakfast was incredibly busy food was cold very poor service. Having spend lots of money at this hotel over the last year the service has dropped in standard seems only interested in corporate events and group bookings

A beautiful GradeII listed building, a superb spa facility and excellent food but it was let down by dreadful service from the front of house staff. On arrival we were greeted by ‘you alright’ - we expected perhaps ‘good evening, how can I help?’ Or something similar. We were then told our room number and where it was and as no further information seemed to be forthcoming we had to ask questions to ascertain what time breakfast was, where it was, where the bar was, where the spa was, did we need to book anything etc etc. Surely guests need to know this information and so it should be naturally volunteered? The spa was superb but the staff were lackadaisical and disinterested. For many people it might be the 1st time there and volunteer how to get into the outside pool? That padlocks are available for a refundable £1? Finally….dinner!!! We had a reservation for 1915. We arrived on time and waited by the sign…no staff. We popped our heads in the dining room and got some attention and were seated. We then sat for 30 mins before any order for drinks or food was taken. 15 mins later we saw our wine arrive in the room - it was delivered to us 5 mins later. White wine….which was definitely not cold. We asked for ice to cool it - twice we did this before served. Food was excellent but after finishing, waiting for plates to be cleared and dessert offered for another 25 mins we gave up and left. There was a function going on but things shouldn’t compromise service for other guests.

Overall we had a lovely time. I stayed 3 times in a short space of time for a business trip. I booked on Hotels.com and was never given the room type paid for, each time I was given a downgrade at what would have been a significantly less cost. Staff on the front desk were poor to say the least. However the duty manager was great speaking at breakfast the next day however this was check out morning for me. The hotel is tired, but has a great feel about it. Breakfast was good, in amazing surroundings. Gym / Pool are again tired and unclean, but serves a purpose at the price. Walls are thin (odd for such an old building) so sound is also an issue in the evening.

The property looked like a castle! It was outside of town and very secluded yet easy to get there. We actually stayed in apartments next to the main house which were very large (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a washing machine in our unit). The beds were very comfortable as well. You can tell that they were renovating, because a couple things did not work (a key, the phone) and a piece of wood under the sink fell off on its own. They were all extremely kind and professional, though; we felt extra taken care of by the manager who brought us deserts making us very happy that evening! The breakfast was fantastic, and the person in charge of seating us and taking care of us was the kindest ever. He went above and beyond! We would definitely stay here again!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Welcombe Hotel and overall, it was a delightful experience. The staff were exceptional—attentive, friendly, and always ready to assist with any request. Due to flooding we were unable to travel for our first night and gave early notice to the hotel. We arrived the next day and were told by the manager that the hotel was unable to give a credit for the missed night even though the hotel managed to book the room to someone else. Not even a complimentary drink, the excuse given was that it was hotel policy. The breakfast was self service style and very average. Overall the hotel was good but not great. The location for visiting Stratford was excellent.

Overall we had a brilliant time. The hotel is impressive, think shabby chic. Spent two nights in a junior suite. Great location for walking into Stratford Upon Avon. The gardens and views are beautiful and the spa was great. We had an evening meal there and two breakfasts - you can’t fault the food, it was delicious. The issue was not enough staff so we had to wait a long time for our meal and breakfast on the 2nd day was chaos due to only 2 people looking after 117 guests. Despite this, we would def stay there again and loved it, but with better management of staff the experience could be epic. The staff are trying their best, there’s just not enough of them. If you want a classic period building in beautiful surroundings, this place is for you.

Lovely hotel and grounds. First visit and only stayed one night but will be back. Hotel was good value and enjoyed the restaurant and breakfast. Would appreciate lit signage at the hotel entrance (from both directions). We arrived at night, in the rain and a busy road so loads of oncoming car headlights. This made seeing the turn-off difficult. There is a lit sign for the golf club and chalets.

Lovely stay at the Welcombe hotel. Right on the outskirts of town, only a 5 minute drive from the hotel to town centre yet feels miles away as the grounds of the hotel are so peaceful. Had the family room which was a king size bed and the couch was a pull out bed. Had use of pool and gym facilities. Only down side is that kids swim time is 10-12 and 4-6, which does make it difficult if you’re trying to do some sightseeing while also catering to the kids desire to swim every day as well. Had a lovely time and would definitely recommend

The hotel is absolutely stunning. Beautiful grounds, very relaxing bar and our apartment was very quiet, clean and comfortable. Excellent value for money. Only point lost was the breakfast which was average and food/coffee ran out due to the number of guests eating breakfast.

The tables in the restaurant are filthy. I sat at 3 different tables and my arms are sticking to the table. I would actually fly over from Switzerland (for free) to teach your staff how to do it properly. Breakfast is like a motorway shack. Coffee and milk always empty and plates at table never cleared. Staff (some) behind bar are pretty useless and can’t be bothered. How they get a job is beyond us. Food below average at best. Staff in spa looking at their phones when you ask a question about towels / bath robes (although spa facilities are good - even if many machines in gym are a little tired). And to cap it all, we were double charged on the room rate. Of course picked up by us but it’s ok because even though the hotel takes the charge on our card and we pay the daily interest, it will be refunded (not the interest of course) in 5 days. Such a shame because it’s a lovely venue but just no management in sight to train the staff. It’s a really easy fix.

Ok , food and drink grossly over priced compared to other hotels. The dining menu was terrible no steak or grill choices , ordered fish n chips which turned out to be a few frozen chips and a frozen fish , not what I would expect for a top end price. Rooms are clean but very tired. Place is under staffed. I had my team there 14 of us and they shut the bar at 9.50 even though plenty of drinks being purchased.

Upon arrival we were delayed on check in. This was resolved with a complimentary drink for all the party and free breakfast. Getting said drink was delayed by slow and unmotivated bar staff. When getting to our room we immediately noticed the smell from the bathroom. Though it was apparent that there was nothing left in the toilet, the smell was as if it had not been flushed after the previous visitors. There was also numerous mid length black hairs on the bathroom floor. We were advised that 10 cleaning staff were off sick on that day. The decor in the room was damaged and aged looking. No sugar left with the teabags/coffee only sweetener. As we are allergic to dairy we had to ask the Bar staff for alternative milks. We were then met with rude, sarcastic and unmotivated staff from behind the bar. A large presence of "Not my problem" type attitude was witnessed from these staff members. Our executive room was situated over the top of the entrance and thus we did not sleep peacefully due to a constant noise of front entrance doors opening and closing. Other than the above the hotel and gardens are lovely places to be. We would not likely return unless the above is considered or addressed.
Upon arrival we were delayed on check in. This was resolved with a complimentary drink for all the party and free breakfast. Getting said drink was delayed by slow and unmotivated bar staff. When getting to our room we immediately noticed the smell from the bathroom. Though it was apparent that there was nothing left in the toilet, the smell was as if it had not been flushed after the previous visitors. There was also numerous mid length black hairs on the bathroom floor. We were advised that 10 cleaning staff were off sick on that day. The decor in the room was damaged and aged looking. No sugar left with the teabags/coffee only sweetener. As we are allergic to dairy we had to ask the Bar staff for alternative milks. We were then met with rude, sarcastic and unmotivated staff from behind the bar. A large presence of "Not my problem" type attitude was witnessed from these staff members. Our executive room was situated over the top of the entrance and thus we did not sleep peacefully due to a constant noise of front entrance doors opening and closing. The hotel is an older country club style therefore areas are very n need of a little attention. But this is totally expected with sure a large impressive property. Room was huge with good WiFi and excellent bathroom with separate shower and bath. Staff super friendly and helpful, buffet breakfast really, really good. Never felt rushed and tons of seating inside and out. Pool and spa good and easy to access as hotel guest. Bar area also large and spacious with good selection of drinks. All in all a great stay and would come again and definitely recommend to all.

Fabulous and historic property with interesting architecture. Like all stately home type properties some of the decor is difficult to maintain to a high standard, so there are minor signs of wear here and there and no aircon. The food, staff and service are very good, breakfast was of high quality. We didnt try the spa but seemed to be appreciated by those on a spa package. The grounds and garden were fabulous ,especially the view from the outside patios. Overall highly rated and most enjoyable.
