Great location in St Peter’s Port. Good pool and outdoor area. The best part was the outstanding staff. All of them were very accommodating and friendly. Christina was exceptional she remembered everything you asked for, constantly smiled and a delight to be around. World class service. The hotel does need some updating and that is being addressed, however the hotel is immaculate, great breakfast choices and a very relaxing place to take a break.

From the moment my Wife and I arrived outside the hotel, we were made to feel warmly welcomed by the hotel team. The additional touches that I had requested were all in the room waiting for us that made our stay extra special. The sea view King room was absolutely stunning with a view over St Peter Port. That linked to the spa facilities were fantastic. My Wife and I will definitely be travelling back to the hotel in the not too distant future.

We thought the staff were amazing and nothing was to much trouble, the rooms were spacious and bed and pillows comfy, also kept clean and tidy daily with nightly treat of chocolates or biscuit on the turned down bed by housekeeping. Swimming pool was great too, which we used several times on our 4 night 5 day stay. We were a little disappointed with the menu on a Saturday night (10 August 2024) in The Brasserie as it was not an outstanding choice to choose from and not the best meal for a top restaurant we have experienced, also on the pricey side with a service charge added which was optional but we paid but on reflection felt this should not be applied for paying guests @ OGH Hotel but applicable to non residents visiting the same restaurant (The Brasserie) Overall an enjoyable experience.

Having stayed at OGH on several occasions it was noticeable that the bedrooms are getting tired and in need of an upgrade, especially in view of the prices. We had brown water appearing from the hot water which was bad enough to stain a white flannel brown and the pull cords on the curtains no longer functioned. There was a large black chip in the bath enamel and the mastic around the bath needs repairing. However the staff, service and the lounge, dining room and bar areas were excellent.

This was undoubtedly a fantastic hotel in the past, but it has seen better days. Very much due a refurbishment - e.g. the paint in the bathroom was peeling because the shower water constantly hits the wooden window frame. The staff try to provide a 5 star service, but there aren't enough of them which means we were often kept waiting, e.g. checkin took almost half an hour while the guest in front of us was given champagne and told all about the hotel. That's lovely, but not for the people behind them who just want their room. Breakfast was superb - excellently cooked, and great buffet and cooked to order options. Dinner was a huge disapointment. We got there early and the starter was absolutely excellent. But then it got busy and our main courses were poor (overcooked and under-flavoured), and service was non-existent. After half an hour waiting for the waiter to come back to take a drinks order, we went to the bar to get our own drinks. The hotel has all the signs of having great potential, but it needs a refurb, and it needs the staff to provide the service they have the bandwidth for.

The accessible room is difficult to access and it’s a great challenge to out of the room. I couldn’t turn round the mobility scooter in the room. The room vibrated all day and evening. That was irritating and incredibly uncomfortable. The lifts were a very tight fit. Several times we had Issues with the lifts.

It’s a lovely old hotel , just a bit constrained by its location. Our first room aircon was not working on the hottest night of the year. We were moved to another for the next three nights. The Classic rooms are ok but honestly, I have stayed in much nicer less expensive rooms on the island. You are paying for the location and the absolutely top dollar service from the hotel team. They are fantastic.

The staff were exceptional - no request was too great and everything was done with a manner of being absolutely pleased to be of service to you. Particular mention should go to Roberto, the head concierge. We felt completely at home and our little dachshund was treated like a Princess by the staff. Just a wonderful stay and we would definitely come back again.

The quality of service we received at this hotel was better than we've experienced for many years. I have nothing to criticise about The Old Government House. We had a wonderful stay.

What I liked most about this truly excellent hotel was the fact that the staff were excellent, and in addition looked happy and fulfilled in their work. This is the sign of first class management. High standards were maintained, but none of the staff appeared stressed, and someone always noticed if something was needed , and supplied it without fuss. Very well done to all concerned.

Great location in St Peter’s Port. Good pool and outdoor area. The best part was the outstanding staff. All of them were very accommodating and friendly. Christina was exceptional she remembered everything you asked for, constantly smiled and a delight to be around. World class service. The hotel does need some updating and that is being addressed, however the hotel is immaculate, great breakfast choices and a very relaxing place to take a break.

From the moment my Wife and I arrived outside the hotel, we were made to feel warmly welcomed by the hotel team. The additional touches that I had requested were all in the room waiting for us that made our stay extra special. The sea view King room was absolutely stunning with a view over St Peter Port. That linked to the spa facilities were fantastic. My Wife and I will definitely be travelling back to the hotel in the not too distant future.

It’s a lovely old hotel , just a bit constrained by its location. Our first room aircon was not working on the hottest night of the year. We were moved to another for the next three nights. The Classic rooms are ok but honestly, I have stayed in much nicer less expensive rooms on the island. You are paying for the location and the absolutely top dollar service from the hotel team. They are fantastic.

This was undoubtedly a fantastic hotel in the past, but it has seen better days. Very much due a refurbishment - e.g. the paint in the bathroom was peeling because the shower water constantly hits the wooden window frame. The staff try to provide a 5 star service, but there aren't enough of them which means we were often kept waiting, e.g. checkin took almost half an hour while the guest in front of us was given champagne and told all about the hotel. That's lovely, but not for the people behind them who just want their room. Breakfast was superb - excellently cooked, and great buffet and cooked to order options. Dinner was a huge disapointment. We thought the staff were amazing and nothing was to much trouble, the rooms were spacious and bed and pillows comfy, also kept clean and tidy daily with nightly treat of chocolates or biscuit on the turned down bed by housekeeping. Swimming pool was great too, which we used several times on our 4 night 5 day stay. We were a little disappointed with the menu on a Saturday night (10 August 2024) in The Brasserie as it was not an outstanding choice to choose from and not the best meal for a top restaurant we have experienced, also on the pricey side with a service charge added which was optional but we paid but on reflection felt this should not be applied for paying guests @ OGH Hotel but applicable to non residents visiting the same restaurant (The Brasserie) Overall an enjoyable experience.

Our stay at OGH was great,we felt totally pampered the whole time. All the staff were very attentive and polite but especially Kris Raggoo- the manager who was exceptional,nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts were amazing,light lunches too- unfortunately however dinner was pricey and disappointing. That said- this hotel is excellent,we would definitely recommend it.

Try Burford Browns free range The curries are outstanding The chef disappointed us in the main restaurant He killed the scallops by trying too hard Mussels should not be added to such a sweet fish dish. Far too much salt indicates a chef who smokes and has lost tastebuds The seabass was overcooked and dry The vegetables were perfect and tasted as though they had been harvested that morning. While I would fully recommend the property, it was disappointing to turn up and find no availability at the spa despite staying three nights/four days. Also, the hotel added on a service charge of £10/day on checkout despite having already paid a 12.5% service charge in the restaurants & bars (which made up 100% of our bill given we had pre-paid). The option is there to take the service charge off but in my view, it is not a comfortable checkout experience.
