Great hotel but spa not good. Foyer, bar, restaurant, room, views all lovely. Comfortable room. A few issues though. We paid more for a sea view, and we're looking out side of hotel rather than the sea front. We chose this hotel for the spa, and paid the premium prices over other local hotels for this. When we went down it was absolutely mobbed, kids swimming lessons, lots of annoyed looking guests queuing to get into the wee sauna rooms! And the outdoor splash pool was closed (locals since said it's often closed). They need a booking system as we basically stood around getting cold waiting for a space in sauna, then gave up. Also shower in our room was v v bad, basically unusable. Such a shame as v lovely hotel otherwise and wonderful location. I emailed them these comments but a week on no reply which is disappointing.

Overnight stay was excellent from initial check in (early!) to checkout. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel had been restored beautifully. The spa is superb, especially the hydro therapy pool outside. Breakfast was really good with great produce and choice. Will definitely be back!

We booked a spa package, the spa was a bit tired. The ice room had no ice, tiles were broken and missing. Lunch in the bar was included within the package, staff were in a hurry to take our food order but drinks were slow. The food was good. Our room 136 was not fit to be let out, there were two cracked tiles on the bathroom floor and one loose tile which could have caused an accident, many other floor tiles were uneven. This was an existing issue. Control dials were missing from the shower.

Beautiful stay, stunning hotel and location. Staff are friendly and really keen to make sure you have the best time. Spa is gorgeous too. Food is delicious! We had afternoon tea and also dinner. Will definitely be back!

Welcoming team. A lovely property in an amazing location. Good selection of drinks and food. Their spa is really good too, with a separate pool and gym too. I wanted to add a photo, but the app wouldn't let me on this occasion. Well worth a visit and loved the close proximity to the beach

The room was very small. Difficult to move around even with 2 people. Bathroom was falling to pieces, shower rubber hanging off, door scraped, toilet would not flush properly and the shower had no pressure, almost impossible to wash my hair in it. Staff were lovely and food was good

Old property and it shows. Rooms are very small and showers are not up to modern standards. Room was very hot with no real option to cool it down. This is a sizeable property which unbelievably has only one lift - a very slow lift - that seems to spend most of its time being used by staff. Disappointed and won’t use this property again.

Lovely old hotel with friendly helpful staff, good food and an amazing view out to sea. The room decor was a little tired but that really didn’t matter as the bed, pillows and bathroom were really comfortable and clean.

The bedroom was beautifully decorated and we had a great view, overlooking the golf course and sea. Only issue was the room was very warm with no air conditioning and we coild only open the window about 10cm for fresh air, which wasn't really enough. We had drinks that were reasonably priced and we really liked the pool and outdoor spa pool. It is a short walk from the town centre which was ideal for us. Wd would definitely return.

Very welcoming staff who were happy to help including Tusi. Room was spotless too, only issue was suite had a cracked window and radiators weren't hot enough but they offered to swap the room for us if it got too cold but it was ok. Breakfast was amazing though

First room on arrival was cold and noisy. Underground boiler throbbing in room 104 . Asked to move( no room phone working had to go to reception ) . Given a great sea view room but again very cold . Went out for the day came back late afternoon and room was freezing . No room phone working ( had to go to reception again ). Central heating off agreed to switch it on . Room took 1 hour to begin to heat up . Went for dinner in the hotel - dining room cold - very uncomfortable . Next morning checked out 15/3 but no systems working . Just got final bill today 27/3 . Reported all the issues to management absolutely no contact . Waited for any contact before posting this review - none . Just shocking treatment . Cater for tourists no regard for locals just such a bad experience never stay there again ( this was our third booking ). Think they would make an effort to apologise !!

Beautiful property overlooking North Berwick golf links and the sea. If you are looking for a small quaint European hotel this isn’t the place. This is a large property with spacious rooms. Very nice spa. Great access to the golf links or a walk to the beach. Relatively short walk to downtown.

The hotel is in an excellent location and the hotel staff are very friendly. The views from the front of the hotel are fantastic. Unfortunately we were given room 135 which on the face of it is a large well decorated room but it is right above the kitchen fans which as well as being noisy cause the room to vibrate meaning I couldn't sleep. They are aware of this due to previous reviews but no solutions yet and no warning to unsuspecting customers

Interior design of the hotel is superb - clearly a lot of thought (and money) invested in the revamp. The only let down was the shambolic bar service -35 minutes waiting for a drink order to appear. The spa is amazing (although the staff on the desk could smile a bit more). The outdoor/indoor thermal pool is sensational

No heat, unresponsive staff. Windows were very old with gaps of cold air blowing in. Heater was broken and they did not repair it the 3 days we were there so we had a 50 degree room with blowing wind and rain coming in.

Overall it was a lovely stay and the staff were very nice, however it was understaffed which led to a tardy service particularly in the bar where dirty glasses piled up in the evening. This was not the staff’s fault as they were clearly stretched. Beyond this issue the hotel, facilities and the area are worth visiting.

The hotel was very nice, clean and the room was big, comfortable and well decorated. Unfortunately we had a very poor experience in the hotel bar where we went for dinner. Service was slow, they forgot our cutlery, our drinks order and our desserts, which never came at all. Following a complaint to the hotel, they have addressed the issues and been very accommodating in offering a suitable solution so I can't fault them on that front and on that basis, would be willing to return

True Scottish style hospitality. We were welcomed with smiles and simple yet inviting gestures that made us feel comfortable and at home. The landscape is so picturesque and calming, everything felt like the relaxation we needed as a family! I hope to visit again in the near future.

The radiator in the room was on constantly so the room was too hot , therefore had to sleep with window wide open. The issue was raised to reception 3 times and nothing was done. The hotel location is lovely but could do with a few more staff at night as felt I had to ask for drinks rather than being asked. This is not what you expect from a 5 star hotel.

What a beautiful traditional Scottish hotel. In a fantastic position with fab sea views. Within easy walk of the town. Cracking shops and restaurants. Dinner in hotel was amazing as was breakfast. Will be back 😊

The positive aspects of the hotel included a clean and comfortable bedroom with great views, as well as a good breakfast with attentive servers. However, the negative aspects were numerous, including a problematic check-in experience with miscommunications and delays, rude staff at the bar, and poor quality food at dinner. The bathroom in the room was also dated and the shower weak. Overall, the hotel fell short of its 5-star rating with subpar service and amenities.

Breakfast and dinner were fantastic! I'm vegetarian and the options for dinner were delicious, creative and satisfying. The decor throughout the hotel overall is very traditional. The furnishings appeared to be of high quality, particularly the window treatments and furniture in my room. I would certainly stay again!

There was no clock in the room. Room lit too brightly, but only one bedside lamp. Spa was excellent. Dining options. Very disappointing, same dinner menu every day. We suggest you could easily add a special which could be changed daily.
