The property was good ..They were making improvements which it really needed ..We were disappointed that the restaurant was only open for breakfast and the outside bar not open at all, they are missing out on alot of added revenue ...they didnt offer any water , sodas etc...and had a huge refrigerator behind main desk ...We arrived by shuttle so we had to use Uber everyday to go to La Fortuna to eat ..If you stay here you should have a rental just for that purpose ,since it is 3 miles to town ..We will definitely have a rental next time we go ..I will say the Villas looked really nice ..We bought drinks and such in town to bring back to room as it did have a small refrigerator ..No Microwave though if you need to heat something up ..This place has so much potential ,i hope they get restaurant and bar open ..We would stay here again with a rental car..

This was a more rustic property, not updated at all. The rooms were barebones and the water pressure spotty. The pool was in disrepair in areas, but clean. The breakfast service was great. Nothing to do in the area and we needed to drive to anything we needed to do. Overall it was just fine for a few days.

Clean, breakfast was good, staff very friendly and eager to assist. Working hard to improve the grounds. Excellent for the price range. not the Hilton, nor the price, so very good for the price range. Need a vehicle if you wish to go to town as too far to walk. La Fortuna is a great place to visit, lots to do and many restaurant choices in town..12 min drive. Nice pool area, hiking and waterfalls at your door step.

Nice quiet place to stay and relax. Mostly see people only during the breakfast. All 3 days we enjoed the pool by ourselves. Meaning if you do not want just relax and watch wild life there is nothing to do. Bar/Restorant is closed, only serves limited breakfast

Location by the waterfall was convenient. Restaurants weren't too far to drive too. The breakfast was good. The bar was closed the three days we were there and the weather was too rainy and cool to swim in January. The room was clean but had a musty odor. Probably common in a rainforest area. Front desk employees were helpful and attentive. Bookings tours at the front desk was easy. Parking was easy and safe. The outdoor pool area was very pretty and the hiking trails behind the pool should be fun with the right weather. The staff let us know where to watch to see a sloth, which we did see.
Location by the waterfall was convenient. Restaurants weren't too far to drive too. The breakfast was good. The bar was closed the three days we were there and the weather was too rainy and cool to swim in January. The room was clean but had a musty odor. Probably common in a rainforest area. We had a great stay at the Arenal Waterfall Lodge. The villa was clean and comfortable with a great back porch that allowed us to see wildlife. The staff was friendly, location great for visiting Fortuna Waterfall and the included breakfast/hiking trails made this a great value. The only downside is there was no onsite bar/restaurant open at the time we were staying. I'm not sure if it was the off season or something but it would have been nice to know before checking in.

We enjoyed our stay with this property. We had a small problem and management was great, very quick to correct and very nice. Would recommend, especially villa 13 and 14- both had good pools and amazing views!

Pros: Very spacious, friendly staff, unbeatable views, good local typical breakfast. Cons: No weather stripping on doors so LOTS of bugs get it. Had to ask the staff the clean off the spider webs on the chandeliers. Outdated and worn furniture. If you can handle a very rustic feel and don't mind fighting bugs that are drawn by lights, then this place is great. The views are fantastic. Not close to town and you must have an AWD car to get around.

Place was not the same as it show on the internet. Sheets were dirty and shower knob couldn’t turn off completely. I originally booked for 4 nights, I left after the first night. I asked if I can get a refund for my remaining days and was told no. I explained to front desk how I wasn’t comfortable staying there, he acted like he understood but clearly not. I would not recommend this place to nobody!!

The area around the property is very nice and quiet. The breakfast was mediocre at best. The 3 bedroom villa where we stayed was very spacious. However, there are many needs for improvement. For starters, the lodge had a stale, moldy smell to it that never went away during our 4day stay. It was endured by all of us traveling, but severely irritated my wife's allergies, where she slept with a mask on at night and couldn't wait to leave the lodge the next morning. There were no screen doors to allow fresh air in either. The maintenance was sub-par as one of the bedrooms had wall sconces that didn't work and one was hanging off the wall. We specifically selected properties with private pools, but this one had no filter running in it to clean the water, so that was a no go. The kitchen was dusty, esp. around the cups, bowls and plates, and didn't have things such as paper towels. Running water was at a thin stream and not at a high temperature. The place needs a full remodel imo.

There were rats/bats living in the ceiling so I did not sleep at all - there was a huge gap in the door allowing any animal in and we found droppings all over our suite. The overall conditions of the hotel are quite old and run down and the photos are quite deceiving. The landscape was beautiful and being right beside the La Fortune Waterfall was very convenient but not worth the lack of sleep. Our suite was not cleaned one time by maids and they did not care that animals were all over the room.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom Villa. The beds were comfortable. The location was private and quiet - but there are significant upgrades needed. We had large beetles in the house and lizards. There is a limited breakfast and no other dining options. The reception was not friendly - like we interrupted his time.

The staf was very friendly and helpful. The villa we stayed in was a climb, which I was not expecting. We are great full that we did not get one that was higher. It appeared that would have required the assistance of a mountain goat. Lol Seriously, it would have been too difficult fir us to access. The room was roomy and open. It is in need of cleaning and paint. The deck is small with two chairs, and not room enough to move them for a better view or to sit together. The doors require a key on both sides. So, leave the key in the lock in your room, incase of an emergency and won't need to be searching for the key to get out.

I have very mixed feelings about this place. The good: the upgraded us to a lodge for free (we booked a standard room) because it was low season. The lodge was a highlight and my son had such a great time choosing between sleeping in the loft inside or the exterior loft (you reach it through outdoor stairs and it has a private entrance). It was a bit far from town, but I actually loved that because it was so beautiful and quiet and we just sat on the deck enjoying a jungle rainstorm. Also, they've recently hired a place called the Geckos to do their breakfasts and it was THE BEST food we had in Costa Rica. So so good. Also, we got a free visit to Misitico Hanging Bridges as a peace offering because they're doing construction right now and it was a bit noisy. I was happy with the trade! The downsides: the cleanliness was questionable. The light switch in the bathroom and the legs on the bathroom vanity were coated with grime and my pillow smelled like sweat. Gag. Also, they didn't refill the soap in one of the bathrooms - good thing we had two. The lodge bathrooms were so nice though. Huge windows and you could shower with them open because no one was nearby - just the jungle. Lastly, I can't decide if this is a con or a pro... a howler monkey lives nearby and kept jumping on the metal roof and dropping stuff on the roof starting at about 4:45am each morning. It was amusing, but also made it a bit hard to sleep. My biggest complaint is that there was NO POOL, even though the

In die Jahre gekommene Lodge. Die Zimmer sind zweckmäßig, die Betten extrem durchgelegen und machen bei jeder Bewegung laute Geräusche. Pool und Außenanlagen wenig einladend. Pluspunkt: als Gast muss man nicht die (überteuerten) 15$ Gebühr für den hauseigenen Trail bezahlen. Der ist aber auch nicht viel mehr als ein Trampelpfad durch den Dschungel.

Pics online are minimum 10 years old. Room sizes are not accurate either. All rooms are way smaller than advertised. We stayed in a one bedroom suite that was supposed to be 1000 square feet. Barely 400. Think state park cabin. Not suite. It was very private and other that typical tropics rust in stuff the room worked. The whole resort is very run down though

This was a fantastic property, private, quiet, and beautiful views off the back covered deck! The hammock and lounge chairs were an added plus to enjoy the view and our own private infinity pool was a bonus!

The view from the pool overlooking a rain forest valley was fantastic. Breakfast includes 3 options with very small serving sizes. The food was good, just not enough. We purchased additional eggs for $1 each to make due. The rooms are much better in the photos. If you like to watch TV prior to going to sleep, bring your own, the rooms do not include TVs. We were there celebrating our anniversary and the walls are paper thin. We could hear quiet conversations in the adjoining rooms and hallway. And the bed was the loudest, squeakiest bed I have ever slept on. This did not improve our marital status. Also, room cleaning is not standard and must be requested 24hrs in advance. We would get new towels as needed by going to the front desk and seeing if anyone was there to get us new one. 50/50 if the desk was manned. Overarching, the property needs a major overhaul to be competitive in todays market. I would give the location 4 stars, the food 3 stars, the facilities 1 star, and the staff 1-2 stars.

We purchased additional eggs for $1 each to make due. The rooms are much better in the photos. If you like to watch TV prior to going to sleep, bring your own, the rooms do not include TVs. We were there celebrating our anniversary and the walls are paper thin. We could hear quiet conversations in the adjoining rooms and hallway. And the bed was the loudest, squeakiest bed I have ever slept on. This did not improve our marital status. Also, room cleaning is not standard and must be requested 24hrs in advance. We would get new towels as needed by going to the front desk and seeing if anyone was there to get us new one. 50/50 if the desk was manned. Overarching, the property needs a major overhaul to be competitive in todays market. I would give the location 4 stars, the food 3 stars, the facilities 1 star, and the staff 1-2 stars.

Main living area, kitchen, and bathrooms need a remodel. In my opinion the sofa was completely unusable. The showers soaked half the bathroom floors. TVs and better AC would have been nice. Beds were comfortable and Private pool was convenient.

This was an amazing slice of beauty and paradise!!! We ended up staying here in one of the Villa's after our previous accommodations didn't work out. The only thing I will warn people about is if you choose to stay in one of the Villa's prepare to do stairs (a lot of stairs!) However, even with this the stay was peaceful, wonderful and the views were breathtaking. The best part was that each Villa has its own Wi-Fi so that you aren't fighting for Wi-Fi speeds! This is also somewhere that is pretty close to some amazing dining options!

My girlfriend and I got in late to Arenal Waterfall Lodge, they were more than accommodating to get us into our room. The room itself was very clean, and spacious. It felt like a secluded cabin in the woods but we were in the jungle! When we asked the front desk for recommendations for dinner they were more than happy to give us one! When we asked them to book our adventure to mystico hanging bridges, they made sure I got the email and confirmation in order for us to attend! (Highly recommend). The breakfast down the road at Gecko’s was extremely good! The atmosphere there was more than accommodating, they also run a dog shelter and we love dogs, so win win in our book! Scott and Charlie at gecko’s were beyond friendly and made us feel like we were at home we looked forward to breakfast and chatting with them every morning. I will most definitely be staying at the lodge again, and I look forward to it. If you’re on the fence about it do it, you will not regret it! Pura Vida, and safe travels!

This property is just up the hill from the Fortuna Waterfall! We were able to walk down and back up. It is a steep hill if you are unable to walk hills it would be better to drive. We stayed in villa 17 which is the furthest away villa! It’s huge and gorgeous! Has a great view from both balconies! It is a steep walk up and down to get to the pool and reception desk. If you are older I would suggest a closer villa. We enjoyed the walk though! They are remodeling right now so we had to eat breakfast (which was included) at a restaurant down the hill called Geckos! Definitely worth going to! It was soooo good and it’s a dog rescue!!

Extremely friendly staff. They upgraded our room without us asking. They had 3 breakfast options that worked for our family. Each morning they remembered our previous order. Our family found the location peaceful and the rooms were unique and beautiful. Unlike some other reviews we did not need a TV, felt safe, and did not feel the place was run down. Location was right next door to the Arenal Waterfall, and had a spectacular view. You're not in town, but close to it, and that was part of the beauty of it.

From checking in with Maximo to checking out with Danny. The friendliest people and always greeted us with a smile. Enjoyed this property and staff was so nice and accommodating. I had emailed them through Expedia app letting them know we were severely delayed bc of our flight. When I arrived at midnight, they had my paperwork and keys laid out for me ( since no one was at desk). That was so helpful because I just needed to crash. Free breakfast was good and tasty. It's not a lush place, but definitely a good value for your money. Would definitely stay here again.

Arenal Waterfall Lounge is close to many restaurants but you need a car or uber to get to many of them. The hotel is near the waterfall and very convenient of that is something you want to see. The property was clean, the breakfast good, and as some others have mentioned it is in need of some upgrades and renovations. Overall, the stay was adequate.

Such a beautiful villa! secluded to the maxxx!! this hotel is the highest on this mountain! The walkway to the rooms are beautiful !!! scary at night when you think about it but totally worth it ! you are pretty far from everything buttttt uber is extremely cheap so I recommend taking advantage! its 2 hrs from San Jose airport. we were able to get transportion for 180 and 150 on the way back. 180 seems to have been their average pricing. The reception office does close at 11 !!! so plan accordingly. beautiful views all around !!

The property was good ..They were making improvements which it really needed ..We were disappointed that the restaurant was only open for breakfast and the outside bar not open at all, they are missing out on alot of added revenue ...they didnt offer any water , sodas etc...and had a huge refrigerator behind main desk ...We arrived by shuttle so we had to use Uber everyday to go to La Fortuna to eat ..If you stay here you should have a rental just for that purpose ,since it is 3 miles to town ..We will definitely have a rental next time we go ..I will say the Villas looked really nice ..We bought drinks and such in town to bring back to room as it did have a small refrigerator ..No Microwave though if you need to heat something up ..This place has so much potential ,i hope they get restaurant and bar open ..We would stay here again with a rental car..

if you are not staying hotel much it's good. you need to go out to eat and buy snack or drinks.even water. it's nothing here except brakefast. Also it's very nice coffee shop 5min walk and real hike trail. Definally recommend if you stay here. and 10min driving you can get spot local restran and massage place.

I had a great stay at Arenal Waterfall Lodge and I’m looking forward to going there again in the future! Great rooms, view, and breakfast. It was walking distance from the Arenal Waterfall which was very convenient, and a short drive from everything else in the area. The view from the hotel really made it stand out.

I have very mixed feelings about this place. The good: the upgraded us to a lodge for free (we booked a standard room) because it was low season. The lodge was a highlight and my son had such a great time choosing between sleeping in the loft inside or the exterior loft (you reach it through outdoor stairs and it has a private entrance). It was a bit far from town, but I actually loved that because it was so beautiful and quiet and we just sat on the deck enjoying a jungle rainstorm. Also, they've recently hired a place called the Geckos to do their breakfasts and it was THE BEST food we had in Costa Rica. So so good. Also, we got a free visit to Misitico Hanging Bridges as a peace offering because they're doing construction right now and it was a bit noisy. I was happy with the trade! The downsides: the cleanliness was questionable. The light switch in the bathroom and the legs on the bathroom vanity were coated with grime and my pillow smelled like sweat. Gag. Also, they didn't refill the soap in one of the bathrooms - good thing we had two. The lodge bathrooms were so nice though. Huge windows and you could shower with them open because no one was nearby - just the jungle. Lastly, I can't decide if this is a con or a pro... a howler monkey lives nearby and kept jumping on the metal roof and dropping stuff on the roof starting at about 4:45am each morning. It was amusing, but also made it a bit hard to sleep. My biggest complaint is that there was NO POOL, even though the

We stayed in a room for three people but were only provided with two towels, and the staff was noticeably unfriendly upon our late arrival. There was no bottled water, coffee, or other basic amenities in the room, and the toiletries (shampoo, soap, etc.) had an unpleasant smell. Additionally, the property has high humidity levels, so keep that in mind when planning your stay.

El hotel está en proceso de remodelación, aún así hay personal suficiente y muy bien capacitados para darle al huésped el servicio para que la estadía sea excelente. Nos han dado soluciones a todas nuestras inquietudes, solicitudes y demás. Los alrededores son tranquilos, muy silencioso y eso justamente es lo que buscaba. No hay comercio cerca como para ir caminando, el uso del auto es necesario o pagar taxi en cada salida.

The property is absolutely gorgeous! Every day, walking to my villa through a Isle of beautiful flowers and plants and being greeted by watching. So many hummingbirds, and hearing all the wonderful sounds of the birds. It was amazing to be able to look out my window and see the Volcano. The best part about what made this stay. So magical is the staff. Maximal greeted me when I checked. In carried, my bag into the room showed me how to use the air conditioner and where everything was at. I was so happy! Valeria took care of me every day, with answeri ng all of my questions, where I can find things, making sure that I get to breakfast. And she was just a pleasant, wonderful happy person! I was so glad to have met them. And how they helped take care of me and how they made my stay here in magical! I am shared with so many of my friends even before I got home. That when they come to costa rica, they have to stay here. It's been a beautiful experience! Pura Vida!
