A simple property which provided good value for money and suited my needs well. Staff were friendly, check in and check out prompt and bar well stocked. Ample free parking in two council car parks moments away, if the four on-site bays are full. Rooms are basic but in keeping with expectations.

Overnight stay with our 2 grandchildren. Warm welcome. Room was on 2nd floor and lift only went up to 1st. Room was tidy but bathroom not the best with dated shower area and unfortunately the shower head was broken . Breakfast was delightful which we all enjoyed.

The staff at reception seemed quite rude and uninterested in helping initially. I was given directions to the room whoch was in the attic space, the stairs were extremely steep and the access stairs open towards you over the stairs making it awkward and in my view unsafe to carry luggage and bags up to the room The fee paid was meant to unclude breakfast but i was presented with a menu which had cooked breakfasts on and was instructed that only the cereal and fruit selection was included, cooked breakfasts were charged as extra, i didnt have breakfast as a result. The electric shower was small and had been crammed into a corner of the loft extension which resulted in me banging my head every time i used the shower, toilet or sink. The family room had 3 beds in one area and no additional space to move, the shower was broken and the heat settings were either burning hot or freezing cold Parking was limited to about 3 spaces at the hotel otherwise you had to park on the sea front which was again awkward with manouvering luggage. Wouldnt recomend

Great location for beach and town. Room was a little basic and bathroom could do with an update. Breakfast was very good with friendly staff although have to pay extra to get a machine coffee! There is no parking on site although you get 5 hours free (within certain hours) at the adjacent car parks which are just next door.

Great hotel comfortable and warm. Their car park is small but there is a massive free car park at the side of the hotel. I would suggest they don’t change towels every day unless requested

Beautiful room, nice staff, clean, lovely bar & outside dining area (short stay, so didn't sample the food apart from breakfast which was fine). Located right on the the beachfront & a 5-10min walk from the town centre. If disabled & coming from either station, get a taxi as it's about a 30 min walk. Lift to all floors of hotel. Only issues were someone setting off the alarm after 1am (smoker?) & some guests being noisy at 3.30am (but only about 10 mins) - post nightclub? Otherwise, great stay. Comfy bed. Good sleep. Beach wasn't too busy. Fabulously soft sand (beached jellyfish the only downpoint). Close to shops if you need anything.

I had a good stay at the hotel but the room I was in needs some decoration as there was a stain on the carpet and walls need a paint. My evening meal was very good and would recommend m.

Our stay at this hotel ( staff/ cleanliness/ food ) was excellent in every way EXCEPT the room. Room 7 was cramped with old worn out furniture. The 'shower room' was the smallest I have ever seen. Sitting on the toilet your head is in the WHB!!!!! Iron marks on the carpet.......

Room was rather small but comfortable and was extremely clean, the bathroom was lovely and had a corner bath which was excellent!! The cleaning staff and breakfast staff were lovely helpful and friendly. Food was great too.

The room was, especially the en-suite in a poor state of repair. No toilet roll holder Toilet didn’t flush properly, did report it but nothing done about it. Bathroom door was split and warped from water damage The edge of the floor next to the skirtings was all worn with gaps which would make cleaning difficult and potentially unhygienic. Ceiling very slopped in bathroom and bedroom so a few bumped heads. Lots of rules pinned up, fine of £30 for clogging toilet with anything other than toilet paper, in the information book in the room it’s £50 Lobby/foyer/restaurant lovely and beautifully decorated. Breakfast amazing Waiting staff couldn’t do enough! Amazing location. I think we were just unlucky with our room, would stay again but not in a loft room

The hotels location is excellent. Our room was big enough for 2 adults 1 child and a dog. The decor could be improved in the room quite dated but overall we would come back again.

Property is a beach front property however rooms are very dated and ours had a damp patch on the wall the floors were very creaky and noisy was woken during the night with someone either upstairs or next door going to the toilet from the ventilation fan. I couldn't get heater to turn on so room was cold by the time i noticed it wasnt working there was no staff around just the night porter. We returned to hotel around 10.45 pm and it was all locked up had to go round back to ring bell for night porter to let us in. Staff were friendly and breakfast was good

Stayed in room 22 and room was huge bed very comfy and amazing size tv bathroom was small and although shower power and heat was amazing the overall space in shower was very tiny beautiful sea view and only a minutes walk from beach breakfast was very good and staff very friendly

We were in Ayr for a family wedding and had arranged to meet family members for dinner so did not have the opportunity to dine in the hotel’s restaurant, however we had breakfast on two occasions and both times the food, service and staff were excellent. Internet access was ok, to was fairly basic and beds were extremely hard and lumpy

It does a job, but be warned a family suite is actually a cramped small room with three beds tightly packed in with very little space between them and restricted head height, up several flights of stairs. The room was clean but very tired, and the floor had holes in that you could feel as you stepped on them. Fortunately there was only two of us, but if we had had children with us it would have been a nightmare. As it was I hit my head on the sloping ceiling, trying not to bump into my husband, and spilt burning coffee on my hand and bed. Don't expect to get any breakfast if you are catching an early ferry to Arran, at 7.15am it was difficult to even get an apple! However all the staff were very friendly and there was ample coffe and tea supplies in the room. Overall for the price it was ok.

No welcome when we arrived - Staff very arrogant- sending us away until 3pm before we could check in - closed outside doors a 10pm had to ring to gain entry - fire doors along all corridors left open all night dangerous - staff attempted to charge me for breakfast- would not stay here again

Two separate visits within a couple of days. The first time was fantastic and i would have given 5 stars all round. Check in was great, room was lovely. Unfortunately on our next visit a couple of days later check in was not so good, the man at the desk really didn't appear to know what he was doing, it took ages for him to find our booking and barely spoke to us during the process. We had a different room the second time and it was not so good, smaller and looked very tired especially the bathroom. Breakfast was great both times.

Arrived at hotel for photo shoot and instead of welcome to horizon hotel i was, in no uncertain terms, told that i was too early to check in. I used the same tone to say i was looking for venue for photo shoot and would check in later. Not a good start!!! Overall staff were helpful and the rest of my stay was very good but first impressions always stay with you. Spotless, comfortable stay. Breakfast was excellent, with good menu.

Excellent stay at the hotel. I was in Ayr for a job interview. On the last night I asked the lady at reception if there was anywhere to store my case as my interview was at 0830 the next morning and it might be tight to meet the 10.30am check out. She gave me a late checkout with no charge. I really appreciated it. I ate at the hotel on the 2 nights I was there and the service was amazing, really nice atmosphere, food was served quickly and was piping hot. If I’m ever in Ayr again (I didn’t get the job!) Horizon will be where I stay!

The staff at reception seemed quite rude and uninterested in helping initially. I was given directions to the room whoch was in the attic space, the stairs were extremely steep and the access stairs open towards you over the stairs making it awkward and in my view unsafe to carry luggage and bags up to the room The fee paid was meant to unclude breakfast but i was presented with a menu which had cooked breakfasts on and was instructed that only the cereal and fruit selection was included, cooked breakfasts were charged as extra, i didnt have breakfast as a result. The electric shower was small and had been crammed into a corner of the loft extension which resulted in me banging my head every time i used the shower, toilet or sink. The family room had 3 beds in one area and no additional space to move, the shower was broken and the heat settings were either burning hot or freezing cold Parking was limited to about 3 spaces at the hotel otherwise you had to park on the sea front which was again awkward with manouvering luggage. Wouldnt recomend

Great location, friendly helpful staff. Exceptional weather pleasant with the window open at night. Bit of noise from a couple of passers by in the street falling out after closing time, but overall I would definitely stay again with my 9 year old son. ❤️

Great location for beach and town. Room was a little basic and bathroom could do with an update. Breakfast was very good with friendly staff although have to pay extra to get a machine coffee! There is no parking on site although you get 5 hours free (within certain hours) at the adjacent car parks which are just next door.

Beautiful room, nice staff, clean, lovely bar & outside dining area (short stay, so didn't sample the food apart from breakfast which was fine). Located right on the the beachfront & a 5-10min walk from the town centre. If disabled & coming from either station, get a taxi as it's about a 30 min walk. Lift to all floors of hotel. Only issues were someone setting off the alarm after 1am (smoker?) & some guests being noisy at 3.30am (but only about 10 mins) - post nightclub? Otherwise, great stay. Comfy bed. Good sleep. Beach wasn't too busy. Fabulously soft sand (beached jellyfish the only downpoint). Close to shops if you need anything.

The hotel is right across from the gorgeous beach. I was in one of the older, non-refurbished rooms (reflected in price) but it was clean and bed was very comfy. The refurbished rooms look beautiful, so I’d go for one of them next time. The food in the restaurant was delicious. Really fresh fish and massive portions. Staff were all lovely and friendly. I would recommend.

Great stay, we were visiting family in Ayr and needed a dog friendly place to stay. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean with no skimping on the teas/coffees/milks! Breakfast was lovely, continental buffet followed by a la carte cooked, also a sausage in a bowl nicely chopped for our dog. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent stay at the hotel. I was in Ayr for a job interview. On the last night I asked the lady at reception if there was anywhere to store my case as my interview was at 0830 the next morning and it might be tight to meet the 10.30am check out. She gave me a late checkout with no charge. I really appreciated it. I ate at the hotel on the 2 nights I was there and the service was amazing, really nice atmosphere, food was served quickly and was piping hot. If I’m ever in Ayr again (I didn’t get the job!) Horizon will be where I stay!

The Horison Hotel in close to the sea front in Ayr There is council parking opposite the main hotel entrance which we were told by reception is free all day. The hotel is an old building which is being refurbished. We were allocated a large room at the rear of the hotel which was recently decorated. It had a new bathroom, new carpet and the bed was large and comfortable. The noise was minimal and the TV worked well. Breakfast was included - however we felt this was rather basic for the high room rate. We were also charged and extra £30 for the dog which seems excessive as the rate for the room was high at £150/night. We ate dinner elsewhere which was cheaper. I would rate this hotel mid range 3 Star.

Great location across from the beach and near the town. Stunning sunsets! Room was very small - set up as twin as requested but made it very hard to get round bed to shower room. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Overall it was good value for money.
