Ty Morgan's

It was nice and warm easy access to nature trails No where to park at ty Morgan but Car park was about 200 yards away and was cheap No cutlery or plates if you fancy a Chinese or fish and chips Unfortunately we didn't have a great night's sleep as we were on a main road junction and the traffic was very busy Overall i would rate this 7 out of 10

Comfortable, warm. Easy check in at the pub across thd road. Street parking was available

Free parking just up north street, left at the lights, 120m from lodgings. Good size room, comfortable mattress and whilst the pillows were soft they were comfortable. Bathroom also a good size with bath an electric shower which was powerful enough to be decent Bad- noise from the wind howling through the windows, road noise

I arrived at property at 6.30pm after a 5.5 hour drive to find the whole of Ty Morgans closed up, I eventually saw a poster on the door to say I had to check in at the Lamb and Flag, not knowing the area I had no idea where this was. I had to park far from the property and lug my luggage to it, I was exhausted and not inclined to lug it elsewhere. I called Ty Morgans number but got an answering machine, which was a shock as I needed assistance immediately. I had to find a telephone number for Lamb and Flag and got someone, I explained that I was outside Ty Morgans with luggage and could someone help. She said she would 'check me in' and come to me. We went round the corner to a VERY dirty door, stepping inside the hallway and stair carpets were filthy. I commented on how dirty it was. We stepped in 'my' room I was immediately aware of the dusty smelling air. The room was very old, very dusty, felt unclean and I said I couldnt stay in this room. She left, I sat on the bed, which was less than firm on the corner, perhaps broken, wondering what to do as i couldnt sleep here. I asked if they had another room but was told no. In 10-15 mins my breathing was raspy with the stale dusty air in the room. I called the girl again and explained the situation and handed back the key. Very bad situation as I had to leave and try and find alternative accommodation at VERY short notice for those 2 nights. No very happy overall

We were in room 9 so when other guests going in and out of side entrance, door noisy would help if door has a silencer on it as room 9 right next to the exit. Good parking for motorbikes. Breakfast great.

Could hear every car/truck at the crossroads. Shower curtain was mouldy at the bottom. Breakfast doesn’t stay until 8 so not good for anyone on business.

I think we had the dud room, that was in the eaves. I am tall and room was totally impracticable. Shower curtain came up to my chest for example. Skirting board falling to pieces from overflow water. Bed small and uncomfortable. Check in was at a pub up the road. No designated parking as suggested on website. Room 7, definitely needs some attention

However hotel is past its best, very scruffy, as it needs a deep clean, redecoration and a refurb. Carpets are old shabby and stained and decor odd/tired/dated. There is no on-site parking (contrary to description) but road parking available and fine. Hotel not manned, guests have to check in at another hotel in same group.

My stay was very much a game of 2 halves. Check in was surprisingly straightforward, from the e-mails I received prior to checking in it sounded like it was going to be a faff and as I was driving towards Rhayder I was regretting my booking and wishing I’d booked somewhere else. As it turns out it was easy , I checked in at the Crown which is literally a stones throw from Ty Morgans, I have walked across hotel car parks further to reach check before. The staff were super friendly and helpful and knowledgeable. I ate at the crown that night and it was excellent ! The most garlicky garlic bread ever ! Again , all the staff were friendly and I would throughly recommend The Crown. Once I got back to my room though ,that’s where things went a bit down hill. I have to agree with other reviewers about the mattress, it is awful and offers no support or comfort whatsoever. I don’t think it’s old & this is not about mattress preference , it’s cheap to well used , the springs and the support around them have gone . I was able to depress the mattress with my thumb and forefinger and you may as well me lying on the floor because you can feel the hard divan when you sit on it. All you really need out of a hotel stay is cleanliness and comfort and everything else is a bonus ,sadly I didn’t get either , the bathroom floor could do with a really good clean , it’s been a while since the mop saw the edge of the room I’d say. Had I booked 2 nights I would not be staying the 2nd.

Rooms at front of building on a very main busy through road & at 4 way junction single glassed noise is horrendous sounds like a lorry park in bedroom. Our room was exceptionally dirty & lacked basic cleaning standards Owners monopolise village facilities as own a couple pubs, laundry & cafe plus overnight accommodation, owner manager unhelpful

The jacuzzi bath had a broken button and a loose tap, the toilet wasn’t properly cleaned, and the tea station cups were stained. There was also a strong sewer-like smell that worsened overnight. The TV didn’t work, the mattress and pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable, and the room was overly hot with no air conditioning or windows to open. The shower was confusing to use due to the power switch located outside the bathroom. Noise was a problem too – I could hear guests in neighboring rooms, as well as music from a nearby pub and road traffic. Thankfully, things quieted down after 10 p.m. The staff were friendly once we found the check-in point, but there was a mix-up over the room allocation. I’d paid extra for a larger space, but staff handed us the keys, saying it didn’t matter which key we chose. I had to clarify this in front of my friend, which was awkward as I’d intended to be discreet. The on-site café and restaurant were the highlights – great food and a lovely atmosphere. Overall, while parts of the stay were pleasant, the comfort and cleanliness issues mean I wouldn’t return.

The walls are like paper so I could hear everything in the next room. The whole place creaks with every movement of every guest so you get no sleep. To say it tired and needs refurbishing is an understatement. It needs knocking down. The place is not staffed, I did not see a single member of staff in three days. You have to collect the keys from a nearby pub. It’s just a complete dive. Never again !!!!!

There were hairs on the floor of the bathroom and the one towel had black marks on it.

After a long drive over night climbing a mountain for sun rise and driving down to the hotel on no sleep we slept like logs. Very comfortable accommodation, a little bit of traffic noise but nothing major. Very clean and helpful staff

Street light across the road stays on all night and only poor fitting non blackout curtains , being on a main junction in the town traffic noise is on going day and night,

Conveniently located in town centre. Well appointed. Good value for money. l could clearly hear the people next door, l was glad that l took ear plugs. The decor was rather worn.

Good clean room and bathroom and good for town centre facilities, but noisy due to occupants of above my room, No 2, making thundering noises----and during the night !

Most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in and very noisy all night with traffic, only go half til toilet paper and no staff avail me for more when we got back at c 9pm

Nice hotel to be fair and really nice room. Only slight problem is it couldn't be more in the centre of Rhayader. Its not a big place but the pub opposite had a live band playing LOUD until after midnight.

No light in bathroom . Mattress thin with ridges - so poor sleep . Otherwise fine .

Feels like the mattress is the original one that came with the house and why on earth is there a bright green LED in the light that can't be turned off. Felt like sleeping under a traffic light. Overall ok, just. Rooms need a refresh and I won't get started on the screaming electric shower or 'character' un even floor.

Great welcome and sorted out area to store my bicycle with access for my early departure. River park was great place to take a swim 👌

Great little hotel in the centre of Rhayader, the room was a little tired, and cleaniness was a little lacking, and our room was on the road. However the staff were amazing, all of them, really helpful, ready happy and couldn't have done more for us. On top the food was wonderful.

Very good sized rooms, comfortable and with character. Very helpful and friendly staff. Good value for money. The only slight downside is the clock tower very close by where the bell chimes every hour throughout the night but this is totally outside of the control of the hotel. Excellent places to eat (especially The Crown Inn) within a 5 minute walk. Four of us were on a motorbiking weekend and it is a great base to stay for lovely roads on the doorstep. Highly recommended

Good location base for Elan valley, Red Kites and Hafren Valley

Really nice stay food great good little village sorry about noise busy street picked motoring events weekend and could here music band on till late apart from that lovely place

A little road noise in our room but not excessive . Bistro very pleasant but limited opening hours . Nice breakfast and very clean

For £41 I had a very clean room, comfortable bed and a decent bathroom. I left before breakfast so can't comment on that but I did have my supper at the Lamb & Flag - same management - and it was excellent, a nice pub, very good food and superb Wye Valley Brewery beer. It doesn't pretend to be 5 star accommodation but as a place to stay on business it was very cheap and I feel I received more than my money's-worth. Very good.

Lovely room albeit bed a bit uncomfortable, perfect location and served lovely food

Hotel is shabby chic but it’s in a great location for exploring the Elan Valley and beyond. Very helpful, friendly staff. Good quality food, other half loved the cooked breakfasts. Vegetarian choices overpriced when compared to meat dishes, e.g. a £2 difference between a rump steak and a cauliflower veg dish is disproportionate.
