Hilton Garden Inn Kauai Wailua Bay, HI

Staff was friendly and welcoming. The bed and sheets were so comfortable. Would I stay again? Yes but Air conditioning was outdated and didn’t work great. Lobby area was bright and inviting. Pools were good sized for the amount of people using them. Unsure why you pay a resort fee as you don’t get anything extra except complimentary laundry; which is one washing machine and one drying machine. Housekeeping comes by every other day which was perfectly fine by us BUT they never came to us until around 3pm. At that point, we are showering and/or napping so that was inconvenient. Also, don’t pay for luau, just watch from the pool or tiki bar.

This will be my new preferred place to stay when I travel to Kauai.

The hotel location was great and the beach was beautiful. It's an old hotel that has been remodel a bit but it shows. There are two swimming pools but they resemble more motel swimming pools than Hilton swimming pools. There is a breakfast restaurant open from 6:00 to 10:00 am with a very limited breakfast menu. Again, not what you would expect from a Hilton property. The other place to eat is a beach shack. Luckily there are a few restaurants and coffee shops walking distance from the hotel. I am glad we stayed there because it was in a convenient location and the beach was great. Once we adjusted our expectations, we enjoyed our stay.

Food at bar was terrible, extra charges for parking

I had asked for and booked a Jr. Suite. When I arrived, I literally spent 45 minutes at the desk while they told me there was “not a problem”. But they didn’t have my Jr. Suite available so, after what felt like an interminable front desk experience, we spent two nights in regular room. The facility feels a bit dated, but the location is nice. Not sure I would ever go back there.
