Best Western Plus Columbus Ft. Benning

When I first arrived, I noticed the pool was green and murky. I told the front desk that I was here to swim in the pool and she guaranteed that it was OK to swim in because her children were swimming in the day before. I was there for four nights in the pool was never cleaned and never ready to swim in. There was no compensation given by the hotel because it was paid for through Expedia. The staff was not very nice about the situation and said there was nothing they could do about it.

If want to stay at a hotel with no working elevator, a hot and muggy front desk and breakfast area, and a management team with a take it or leave it attitude then this is your place. They are listed as pet friendly but that comes with a steep price. If you are not pleased with that and what a refund so you can go to another hotel Too Bad as neither the hotel nor Expedia will refund your money, even when you never accepted the room. Don’t ask for the general manager as they won’t tell you his or her name or give you their phone number. When you call Expedia they do nothing to help you.

It was a great one night stay for a concert away from home. The first desk was so respectful, kind, & attentive to all guests I saw her in contact with. Now, cleanliness, besides the make-up handprint stains all on the bathroom door & not vacuumed floor. Everything seems to be clean. The bed was comfortable but please work on the air ventilation in the elevator & the hallways of the hotels as it was extremely hot in those areas.

The elevator is still out of service. The only rooms available were on floors 3 and up. Some of the steps had broken lose and were sagging when stepped on.

Room was very comfortable and clean. The room we reserved was only available on the 3rd floor. Not a problem unless both elevators are out of service. Since my wife and I are in our 60's, I asked if he was going to carry our bags up the stairs. Hard to believe, but he found us a room on the 2nd floor. Ice maker on 2nd floor, men's room urinal in lobby, was out of service and pool was closed. Room and breakfast met our expectations.

Overall our experience was great. The pool was closed, which was a little disappointing being that i sort of booked this hotel so the kids could swim. Staff was friendly.

We stayed a couple of nights and like the excellent front desk service and the hotel has 2 working elevators. The breakfast was ok with scrambled eggs, varieties of breads, and some fruits. What I didn’t like was the fact that the pool was murky green and had a sign sayin it was closed. Other than that, it’s a nice quiet area about 25 min from Ft Moore.

Always a good stay when I go monthly. Elevator hasn’t worked the last 2 months but everything else has been good. Front desk staff are very helpful and accommodating

You get what you paid for! Nothing works properly at this hotel. Stained sheets. Very old towels. Shower doors dirty and rusted. TV remote barely works. Pool super dirty. And breakfast was HORRIBLE! No eggs. No nothing! I regret staying at this hotel.

The bathroom in our hotel was pretty dirty. Mold on the shower curtain and the mini fridge in the room did not close all the way. The carpet had weird stains on it, so did the walls.

There was mold ( black in color)-lots of it in the bathroom. The room smelled like dog or cat poo. When asked to change rooms they said they were sold out. The phone didn't work. The rugs in the elevator were old and very dirty.

The lobby is nice, but the rooms desperately need updating. Carpets were stained and felt dirty, didn’t want to walk barefoot. The shower tile was chipped and stained. The towels and bedding were cheap and scratchy.

Sheet were dirty slept in. Had to have clean sheets disgusting. Found dirty clothes in corner of room. Never going here again

Over it was good, only thing that really bothered me was the mini fridge. Dam thing was noisy.

It was a very spacious suite and very nice. There were stains on a table and some on the couch. Not too sure if there was anyway they could clean that up. The bed was big and felt nice. However, our tv did not work. Thankfully we were only staying for one night so it did not matter too much. Room 213 is where its at!

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel room had a few items that needed repaired. Towel shelf/rack fell off the wall during my shower. Repair had been previously made, but was insufficient to hold. Shower head had a hole behind it with tape covering the gap. Just seems out-dated especially with the popcorn ceiling. Also, towels need replaced. Very worn and discolored. Probably won’t stay again.

Property is clean, room was spacious. Included microwave & dorm size refrigerator. Shower had excellent water pressure & was hot. There were some things in the room that showed wear & tear. (The lock was missing from bathroom door.) Staff was friendly. Breakfast was ok, but they do not have any gluten free safe options. A lot of hotels have boiled eggs, but this one doesn’t. Husband said his breakfast was pretty good. We are planning to stay there again on our way back to FL. Lots of dining options nearby (within 10 mi)

The outside of the hotel and the lobby are very nice. The first room we went to smelled clean, however, the shower floor had gross stains and had visible mold growing up out of the drain. We asked to move to another room and the new room did not smell clean at all. The entire hotel was hot and the thermostat in our room did not work well and it was very hot throughout the night. We will not be back to this hotel.

The shower has the best pressure and hot water temp was perfect! The beds are comfy and rooms spacious. There were a couple issues but something easily missed and corrected. Nice area for a walk. Breakfast is 6am to 9am, so they appeared to be out of some items by 8:30 but still choices for a little something before getting on the road. I'll stay here again!

Staff was very hard to find , our door was broke in the bathroom , tub wasn’t clean either ! Wasn’t told about being charged more till I got there !

My recent experience at the Sonesta Essential Columbus in Georgia was so unprofessional and predatory that I feel obligated to warn other travelers, especially those new to the area or in uniform. Upon arriving the day of my prepaid reservation, I was met by Helen, the Front Desk Manager, who informed me that although the hotel had clean, empty rooms available, she would not allow me to check in early—unless I paid for an entire second night. Not a standard early check-in fee, but a full additional night’s charge, just to access the room I had already paid for that same day. Following this encounter, Expedia customer service contacted Helen directly to attempt a resolution. She refused to adjust her position, denied a refund for the reservation that had been made just hours earlier, and declined to allow a change of dates or credit the booking for future use. The whole interaction was both inflexible and exploitative. This hotel appears to operate with policies that prey on less experienced or transient travelers, including young servicemembers stationed at nearby Fort Benning. It’s hard to imagine this kind of behavior being tolerated at a reputable property. If you’re looking for fairness, decency, or even the most basic customer service, do yourself a favor and steer clear of Sonesta Essential Columbus. This wasn’t just bad hospitality—it was a deliberate cash grab that disrespected both my time and my patronage.

I was displaced due to another hotel canceling my order while in transit and not notifying me. hotels.com rebooked me at this location and other than a slight issue with the first room that ELLEN took care of immediately and with such good customer service our stay here was excellent and close to shopping, food and other attractions. we will come back

First stay at a Sonesta. It was very nice, clean and up-to-date. This location is quiet but close to restaurants.

All staff were kind and attentive. The room and hotel property were clean. They were so great answering questions. The breakfast buffet was better than any other we have been to and a nice dining area. Nice towels and bed linens. Thank you for not entering our room daily, it was nice to just request clean towels and new trash bags. It would be nice if the room could have a small table and 2 chairs instead of the couch/divan and padded table that was in the extra area. The bathroom walls, and under the sink/counter could be touched up. We plan to return.

We were traveling through and stopped to spend the night. As we looked through the list of hotels, Sonesta was affordable and the reviews were great. We found this hotel to be very clean, the room was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. We would highly recommend this hotel!

Second time we’ve stayed at this property within a 6 day period. The first time it was still a Best Western Plus. When we retuned this weekend it had just changed over to a Sonestra property. Both times the rooms were clean, but so require some updates. The floor lamp in our room was damaged and the bulb was hanging on via wires only. It’s a safety hazard so we reported it at checkout. The rooms are a sizable. Both times our rooms had desk & chair & a lounger. The bathroom is a good size. The hot water& shower pressure are great (4th floor) room. Breakfast is typical of a hotel at this level. Eggs, sausages, toast, pastries, cereal. NO GLUTEN FREE items. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Hotel is a short drive to several eateries, Walmart, and shopping.

The breakfast was great, the hotel was quiet and the staff was really helpful!
