We arrived 3 hours late due to problems with the Shuttle crossing.We were very tired and stressed, wondering whether we would find somewhere to eat. The restaurant was closing, but I spoke to the girl on reception who persuaded the chef to allow us to eat in the restaurant. The meal was excellent. Breakfast was good, basic and suited the old-fashioned ambiance of the hotel.

We are there on a very hot days. There was no aircon in the room. Staff gave me 2 fans but we had very hard nights there. Breakfast was OK

We had a very good 2 night stay at Le Grand Hôtel de l'Espérance in Lisieux. The room was basic but very clean and practical. They still provided a kettle and tea and coffee. A mini fridge would have been nice though. The bathroom had shower only but it had a good amount of storage space. We had one dinner in their restaurant which was good and good value for money. The service was good and efficient, even though the restaurant was full and only one person serving. The breakfast was excellent. They had 2 Camembert style cheeses, Emmental, spicy sausages as the hot option, hard boiled eggs, good quality cold cooked ham, good grilled ham, yoghurt, croissants, 2 types of homemade cake, fruit salad, and one of the best apple pies we have ever eaten. The selection was constantly replenished. The people at the reception very friendly and professional. If we were to visit Lisieux again, we would stay there again.
