Chessington Resort Hotel

We stayed in the cheapest family room (double and bunk beds) as a family of 4, booking through Hotels.com and visited during the 1st week of our 2 week October Half Term. Positives: magical experience for the children. Being able to have meals overlooking the zebras was amazing. Stuffed toys and freddos on the kids pillows when we arrived and staff in the restaurant at the Safari Hotel went above and beyond to make our children comfortable. Early ride time from 9am, we did 4 rides before the 10am opening. The children LOVED the small splash park and pool, it was the perfect way to unwind after a day at the park. Comfy beds and quieter than we were expecting. It also catered better than I was expecting for allergies. The dreaded folder of doom appeared at breakfast and in theTemple buffet restaurant but they had gluten free rolls at breakfast and our son's dairy allergy was especially easy to cater for. Including refillable ice-cream in the temple restaurant buffet (all plant based) and the chefs brought out fresh food instead of the buffet food. Negatives: Food at the restaurants was a bit pricey (but no more so than other theme parks), the evening children's entertainment was really really poor. Lower your expectations! It was one member of staff thinking of games on their feet and they included dares ... For under 5s. Extra charge for the pool wasn't clear on here £3 each. Some rides weren't working and it wasn't communicated to hotel guests.

The hotel was lovely, staff were great, pool was brilliant and there was entertainment I wasn’t expecting (mini disco). Downside is the price of food and drink, it’s crazy expensive!

Lovely big room, fantastic breakfast and restaurant area with great views. Very convenient. However communication by staff could be improved to help guests get the best out of our stay. E.g, no one let us know about the early park access, that the splash pool was closed, about car parking etc.

Fantastic hotel for families. Themed to keep kids entertained. Pool and splash pool was a hit with the kids. I loved the sauna unfortunately the steam wasn't working neither was the jacuzzi. We also had access to animals and play area. Rooms were big. Kids loved the bunk beds. Whole of the hotel was clean and staff were helpful especially julie and emmanuel. Will be booking again.

We enjoyed our stay, but our room you could not see out of. There was stickers over the windows. It was disappointing we could not see the animals at all from our room. We could not move either as the hotel we were told was full. But we did not be relieve this as one of the restaurants did not open the whole time we were there. So everyone had to eat at the more expensive restaurant. The buffet restaurant never opened. we did enjoy breakfast as this was included in the price. It was nice you could walk around a little area after the park closed just for hotel guests. We also had a problem was paying for our meal s their machine was playing up so we ended up paying for it three times. We had to get this money back the following day. All very stressful. I also thought the park could have stayed open later than 5 pm.

Hotel is located perfectly for a short stay/zoo trip. Free parking and no need to move your car as you can make a short walk from the hotel to the entrance. Two restaurants and a indoor pool. Advise to book meals and pool in advance.

We had a great time at Chessington. On arrival there was no plug in the bathroom basin and it was blocked and the shower was running cold. Facilities did fix the shower and unblocked the sink but we never got a plug. The pool and splash pool was great although it was a little annoying having to book a slot and this wasn’t something we were told about in advance of our stay so we were a little bit limited on when we could use it. Also a bit cheeky having to pay for it when we had paid nearly £100 a night for our room. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was really clean. My daughter loved the little puzzle in the room to unlock the safe and the Freddo’s in the safe were a nice touch. And it was pretty amazing being able to see Zebras from our room.

Hotel was nice view was brilliant But unfortunately the steam room and sauna was not working and this was a big part of why I booked this hotel. If it said on the website that these were not working I would have stayed somewhere else. And the beer was very expensive

The pool was busy and disappointing, rooms were not cleaned to a high standard. The theme and access to the park was great with early access saving some of the queue time. The price is set a little too high but was good enough.

Fantastic stay as always. Clean and comfortable with the perks of early access to the theme park and amazing views. Breakfast was lovely and had a great choice. Would 100% recommend. Pool was great but make sure you pre book as can get busy.

We stayed Sunday to Tuesday. We arrived about 23.00. Staff were there to greet us and were in bed in no time. Room was spotless. Breakfast was plentiful. Something for everyone. Outside in parts was dated and needing renovated. Didn't affect our stay . Staff were pleasant and helpful. Cheery and friendly especially with my wee ones.

Hotel and staff were okay. Staff was friendly and welcoming but not enough of them. Hotel room was very dark, shower was leaking and TV wasn’t working. Hotel restaurant advertised the buffet menu for lunch or dinner but when we asked about it they said that it’s closed. Swimming pool was okay but very dirty changing rooms with mud on the floor. Nobody seemed bothered about general cleanliness in the changing rooms. Life quards were great though and children pool was good for very little ones. Everything including breakfast, dinner, pool has to be booked in advance with the time slots which we weren’t aware of. Our room was connected to another room which had another family in and we were up for the most of the night because their child was upset. It’s not really idea of having relaxing break. Staff in the hotel was friendly but generally uniterested, the whole place is lacking some customer service and some parts of the hotel need refurbishment and appear very runned down. We would not be coming back anytime soon, it’s just not worth it.

Not enough staff at check in so queued and then card machine wouldn't take room deposit despite it showing on my bank app, had to go to a different desk and queue again, manager then just gave md key as drposit had been taken? Shower was useless as head did not fit on bracket so turned sideways so water missed you. Bathroom stunk of drains. Had a nice view and bed was comfy

Very poor experience, when we checked there was broken furniture in the room, door and all shelves missing from unit below tv. Generally room in very poor repair, doors chipped, dirt in bathroom etc. I went straigh down to reception and they said they would look into it. They did nothing, when I complained they said we won’t be charged for damage done to the room before we arrive!!! Seriously very poor customer service. Staff at reception inexperienced, were tutting and throwing their eyes up when you spoke to them. Room extremely dark as they have covered the window in stickers to hide the very poor view. They said that was the “theme”. Cleaner came but only changed towels and tea/coffee, never hoovered or cleaned surfaces

Hotel staff very pleasant. Room was let down by hairs in the shower tray which had clearly not been cleaned properly from previous guests. Restaurant was ok but there was a serious lack of understanding around dietary requirements on the menu requiring involvement of the chef several times.

On arrival hotels.com had not communicated my booking and the hotel were unaware of it. The staff were trying to help. They managed to sort me a room not for the same price wasn’t offered anything for the inconvenience, the room was pretty gross, the bathroom stank of urine, the chair had a rip in it, one single bed was so soft almost broken, just very basic and for the money you pay not good enough.

Reception and waiters slow service. Room smelt of drains, had to keep running shower and flushing toilet to help clear the smell. Beds was comfortable and hotel was clean. Great view from our room.

Everything was good except the inch gap under the door to an adjoining room. Got woken up at 11:30 by music and someone talking on their phone for an hour. Because of the size of the gap under the door. It was like they were in my room. I could tell you the whole conversation (he had been to watch Watford play and likes to bring a pillow with him so it’s like being at home). They need doors that fit the gap. What was a good stay finished with the worst nights sleep.

A tech room isn’t much to look at considering it was nearly &300 for the nugjt. The view from as half blocked with the biggest tree Still cute The pool is small for the amount of grounds they have and you have to book we couldn’t get in the following day which was annoying. I’m assuming the more expensive rooms would be better but I do think it doesn’t need to be that expensive for a room period .

Check in staff and staff around the hotel were all helpful and friendly. Room was a good size with a great view, however it is in need of renovations. Dinner was nice but the service staff were slow and we witnessed multiple tables being served food before drinks, including ourselves.

The hotel is now looking tired. Our bed was very uncomfortable which did effect our sleep. The food in the Safari Grill resturant was nice but portions are small. The plus side of staying at the hotel is that you get in the park an hour early although only limited rides are open.

Large car park, easy access, pleasant staff, large comfortable rooms and great Safari view

Arrived to find that the restaurant and swimming pool were fully booked. Paid for a room with a view of the reserve no animals were out during our stay. The bit of the zoo we could see was hard to see the animals as the window was so dirty.

Very average property which is now in need of room updates. TV doesn't work in many many rooms. It's looking tired.

The bed is probably the worse I sleep in my life, the rooms are old and used , bathroom is a disaster , broken toilet and no water pressure in the shower, handle is broken.

Parking was great I parked right outside the hotel. The park was very confusing quite a few attractions closed or animals like the tigers moved on to a zoo and we wasn’t told of this luckily a passing member of staff notified me after waiting some time. Very expensive for food and drinks costing me £40 for two hot dogs and a refill drink that didn’t allow me to refill?? Food was cold and not very nice . Staff were very rude slow service and just didn’t want to be there almost throwing the food snacks etc across the counter at customers whilst spraying cleaner fluid at each other joking around with not one thought for anyone else. Stage entertainment was first class and very entertaining my daughter loved it. I was very disappointed with the park . The hotel was nice my daughter enjoyed the treasure hunt and the evening entertainment . The staff on reception was not very helpful and again seemed as though they didn’t want to be there but all other staff at the hotel especially the pool and restaurant staff were very nice . I would visit again but I would take my own food and drinks , plan my way around the park better.

Staff went above and beyond. All seemed happy to be there- that is unusual and a sign of a good employer

Service is always great here - the waitress remembered me from my last stay, several months ago! Lovely lady, always friendly and very helpful. The greeter is always lovely too - very chatty when you enter the restaurant. Breakfast is a bit cheap but it's included, so very good value and there's a reasonable amount of variety and it's fresh. Rooms are very spacious, clean and tidy. Always a good experience

Extremely helpful manager checking us in who doesn’t often work the front desk apparently. Accommodated our request for rooms together. Despite being heckled by a rude customer whilst serving me she remained very calm and professional. Very impressed with whole service

Absolutely amazing staff members,nothing was too much to ask,they helped without hesitation,kids loved everything from the accommodation to the pool and the view from our room was amazing

Rubbish, unhelpful surly staff on reception

On arrival the staff had no idea what they were doing. We booked 3 rooms at hotels.com and did book now pay later. They wanted to charge the 3 rooms (all the same) different rates and we had 8 or 9 different transactions coming in and out of the bank account. They then dissapeared and we had to go back to pay for one room. They also told us no information about the hotel or where anything was. The 3 rooms werent all on the same floor and all had different sized rooms although booking 3 of the same. The pool showers were ice cold so we had to walk through the hotel in our costumes to shower in the room which was luke warm. The bars didnt know how to pour a pint of beer and the service was painfully slow.

Really lovely staff. Very helpful and went the extra mile. We did have to wait nearly an hour to check in but that was a tech glitch and not to be held against the staff! We would have liked longer time in pool and dining areas and take away food was tiny portions and horribly expensive.

Used as accommodation for visiting Wimbledon. Very convenient with the station less then 15 minutes walk and trains direct to Wimbledon in another 15. Clean, well-themed hotel for youngsters. Excellent view from room into part of the zoo. Nice pool and breakfast buffet.

Whilst not going to Chessington theme park, it was located nicely for our purpose.

We enjoyed our stay at the property. The room was clean and a good size. A bit expensive for what it is but i guess you pay for the fact that you are right next to the theme park and can have a view of the animals from the dining area.

We loved how close the hotel was to the World of Adventure theme park. It was amazing to leave the theme park and instantly be at our hotel. We also loved the customer service we received from the front desk staff and breakfast manager. Our 10 year old daughter was sick for 2 days and they were caring, accommodating and helpful when we explained the situation. The front desk receptionist was also very helpful with directions and bus/train schedules to London and the airport.

Great hotel directly at Chessington World of Adventures. Everything is themed very nicely and a lot of the rooms and restaurants have a view directly on the Safari park and some of the animals. Absolutely lovely. Customer service was also great, especially by Malakaib.

Short stay on a work trip. It is very relaxing and welcoming. Safari themed rooms add to the relaxing atmosphere. A place to visit with the kids and family. Ample free parking, the restaurants serve tasty meals. Mostly buffet breakfast however a few times it has been table d'hote.

near theme park.

We had a great time my children are aged 6 & 7yrs so would definetly recommend. The early access to park was great bonus we managed to get on 5 rides. Also was lovely to have access to safari animals 6.30pm-7.30pm when park had closed which you access through hotel. Will definetly return

Great themed rooms, nice quality rooms, very comfortable. The food at the evening buffet and the breakfast buffet needs to be a lot better. The choice is good, but the quality is very poor, lukewarm, low-quality products all around. Not good - the evening buffet was very overpriced. The service in the restaurant was terrible - and it's self-service! No good welcome as we went in, our table was cleared of everything on it - drinks, sides, personal items - whilst we were at the buffet - all we got was a shrugged apology. Hour-long slots are daft at the pool - there was no one in there with us, but we weren't allowed to stay any longer. Officious staff on the pool reception. The overall takeaway was with better service and better quality food - the stay would have been amazing. The hotel itself is so fun in its decor and the attention to detail that has gone into it. But staff need better training. Food needs huge improvement.

Parking was easy. room was ok, but the food and drinks were really overpriced and certainly didn't credit the prices. My dinner plate was 50% fries, the steak was around 10% of the plate. Breakfast, although included and offered a reasonable amount of variation was not ready for the half six sitting time and the sausages were poor quality. Fried eggs still had not arrived by 6.50 when I had to leave. Coffee - had a film on it like it was reheated from the previous day. Definitely would not stay here again.

You have to create an account to get WiFi and it kept dropping. Food was overpriced and not good quality

The hotel is clean and well themed. The room itself was well equipped. Having early access to the theme park is worth the stay alone. You get access from 845am with the rides starting at 9am. Food in the hotel was excellent and good value for money. We ate in the buffet restaurant which offered a good range options, as well as gluten free choices.

The hotel and staff where amazing. The food however should go from cooker to bin to save the environment. A £60 dinner bill for uneaten food! Will return to the hotel but make dinner reservations in nearby Kingston.
