Arran House Hotel

Got unfortunately a room on the ground floor just outside a renovation project within the hotel and also where the personal had a stairway where the stood and talked early in the morning without thinking of if anybody was sleeping in the room beside. The room was very responsive and you also saw the light trough the door into the room from the stairway outside. Beside this I was satisfied and a very helpful reception

I recently stayed at the Arran House Hotel and had a pleasant experience overall. One of the standout features of this hotel is its prime location; it’s situated in a lovely neighborhood that is close to various attractions, shops, and restaurants, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the area. When booking your room, I highly recommend ensuring that you choose one with an en-suite bathroom. Some rooms do not have private bathrooms, which could be a downside for some guests. I booked a room with four beds, and I was pleased to find that it included its own bathroom and shower, providing added comfort and privacy during my stay. One thing to note is that there is no elevator in the hotel, so be prepared to carry your bags up the stairs. This wasn’t a major issue for me, but it’s something to consider if you have heavy luggage or mobility concerns. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Arran House Hotel and would recommend it for those looking for a convenient and cozy place to stay in a great neighborhood!

There is no elevator, need to share the toilet and no water supply the shower in the top floor. I’m stayed one night with 2 guest, room fare breakfast included.

the hotel does not have air conditioning

The location is great to the subway station. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast options were good. Lots of stairs to climb which was difficult for my mother. Would prefer better air conditioning options- the fan in our room was not enough for when it was really hot. Would also like a common space to hang out that is not the general office.

Was a great hotel but building work seemed to be going on around us. Hotel claims to have a 24 hour reception but when we were handing our key over there was no one there. So after 15 minutes we put the key on the hook ourselves and left a message. Breakfast was good, but would have liked to have known it was continental as nothing was mentioned in the description on the Expedia app. All in all, a pleasant enough stay which was reasonable value for money.

the hotel was great and the room was super comfortable and clean. it felt too hot though from the moment i walked in as alot of the radiators were turned up too high

I’ll never stay here again. I know you get what you pay for, and this was cheap, but it wasn’t comfortable. I knew the room would be small but it was really tired and outdated. At least I had en-suite, many rooms don’t. Bathroom fittings were broken but the shower was ok. The room had a small patio but it wasn’t useable as it was very dirty and had a cable across the doorway that was a major trip hazard. The big problem for me was the inability to sleep. It was raining hard outside and the rain on the feet of the plastic fencing was incredibly loud. At about 1am I was out in the pouring rain trying to cover up the plastic to dampen the noise. The room was too hot. The radiator in the room wasn’t adjustable and was permanently on. I could open the door in daytime but at night it was just too hot. Breakfast was adequate. Continental only. But to finish breakfast at 9am at weekends is really outdated. 10am should be the minimum.

Was pleasantly suprised as had read negative reviews . Clean friendly stay , the staff were so polite and helpful. The breakfast was of a good standard too . We had to share bathroom and toilet but were very clean . Reception is 24 hr and you get to speak to a person. I discovered the plan is to renovate al rooms to an en-suite design for spring 2025 . A lovely stay for us in the heart of London !

Easy to access to the centre of London. The windows and curtains were a bit dusty though, breakfast was good.

The property was easily accessible from the tube and very central for exploring London. Some of the decor and furniture could do with updating and cleaning thoroughly e.g. stains in the wardrobe and tide marks on the walls from previous water leakages or damp

It's a great location for staying in central London within a short distance to the tube, buses, and shopping. The breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of choices. The room was beyond basic and very small. The shared bathroom may not be for everyone. Beds were clean and comfortable. We spent little time in the hotel, so it was OK. Otherwise, I would have rethought my choice.

Friendly efficient staff but this alter the fact that the hotel is in desperate need for a refurbishment. The room we had (room 18) had a double bed and a single, the bathroom was a prefabricated pod in the room to make it into an en-suite bedroom, unfortunately it had not been connected to the soil pipe correctly so had an open sewer smell constantly, there is a extractor fan in the pod which we had to leave on constantly to keep the smell from the bedroom. Management must have known of the problem as there was an air freshener in the pod to try and disguise the smell. Being an old property the floor boards had been lifted and replaced but were uneven loose and dangerous. There is a Tv in the room but the reception is terrible so the channels were pixelated or completely unwatchable. There is WiFi in the room but a very poor signal to the point of being unusable, I gave up on it and connected my iPad to my phone via hotspot.

Double room was ok all be it a little tired looking with the carpets and old furniture. Shower and toilet en suite very small. Clean comfortable bed.

It was cheap, so expectations were low. The carpet in the room was very tired, and the shower door was broken. But everything was clean, all the basics were there (plenty of tea bags, for example) and worked. Breakfast was good, considering it was included in the low room price - so nothing to write home about, but cereal, toast, coffee, tea, juice.

The hotel was better than we expected for the price we paid. Service was very good and they were all very pleasant. We had a basement room, it was spacious and comfortable did not feel like you were in the basement. The hotel was quite clean but not spotless, the bed was very comfortable. Location was very good, however Hodge street station closes early so we had to walk from Leicester Square, about a 10/15 minutes walk. Other wise we were very happy. I will stay here again and would recommend it.

The hotel is a conversion of two townhouses and every room is different. This was my experience staying in room 30. The room was approximately twice the size of the small single bed it contained. A door opened onto a small, boxed-in exterior patio. Also attached was a shower and toilet cubicle (not all the rooms are ensuite). The one small window was painted over and had not been opened for years. This meant the only way of getting ventilation was to leave the patio door open which some guests might not feel safe. The radiator came on automatically in the morning and made the room excessively hot - it could not be turned off. The reading light over the bed and the shaver point did not work which I reported the next morning. By evening the defective bulb in the light had been replaced but the shaver point was still inoperable. The very helpful desk clerk offered their only three pin adapter but this had loose connections and did not work. He managed to get a working adapter from a sister hotel so I could shave. At this point the door lock to the room which was operated by a key card ceased to work, but they offered me a manual key so I could continue to get into the room. The carpet was badly frayed in one area. There were tea-making facilities and the continental breakfast was acceptable for this class of hotel. I paid approximately £130/night for this room. There are many cheap hotels in this area of London and it is unlikely I will return to this one.

the hotel is really close to the train station and subway. it is a very old property but its not too bad for its location and price .

Great location. amazing reception staff. We booked a quadruple room for 3 of us which was comfortable. The bathroom was tiny but everything worked. The breakfast was included and was ok but the breakfast room was crowded and hot. The coffee was stewed from sitting on a hot plate and the food was not what I would choose to eat.

Small rooms with no toilets inside. The bed wasn’t comfortable and the room was dusty. It does the job if you are looking for a bed and a roof otherwise I wouldn’t recommend it. Very simple breakfast with no variety.

Very nice, safe university neighbourhood. Public transportation near by. Friendly and helpful staff.

My kids and I had a wonderful stay at the Arran. Location coild not be bettered for aalking about to the British Museum and anto the National Gallery and the West End. The Arran Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast included is really good too. I can thoroughly recoomend a stay here. Thank you all at the Arran House.

The room desperately needs redecoration. Hotel entrance and reception were immaculate for a small hotel in an old building. Staff very polite and helpful

The hotel it self is very well located, looks a bit old but room was clean, impecable staff very welcoming. My train arrived quite early and the staff let me place my luggage on a stock room (thank you) so I had a chance to sightseen before check in. Room was clean, shower did not have much pressure but really comfortable indeed. Breakfast was good, just had a small sandwich and a cup of tea but there were fruits, yogurt (do not expect I to have a wide option they keep it simple but nice) - as over all I will chose one again this hotel same room with private shower and WC as there are different options.

Nice small hotel with a fine breakfast and perfect location near Oxford street. Rooms are small and beds are not the biggest but fine for us.

I like the area and it's easily accessible from the Piccadilly line which is important to me. It's also easy to get to from the Elizabeth line but coming in from Heathrow the fare on the Piccadilly line is less than half what you pay on the Elizabeth line! On this trip I had a pleasant pause at Russell Square Gardens on the way to my room from the train

The hotel was perfectly located with walking distance to restaurants, museums, Madame Tussauds and Oxford Street. The breakfast was much better than expected with eggs, yoghurt, bread and pastries. The room and the common areas were of old standards but clean and fresh.

we spent 3 days in London and the Arran hotel proved to be an efficient companion for this trip: clean, warm, welcoming, breakfast included, simple but complete with everything. Well connected by bus and metro, near the city center.

Cozy little hotel just a little bit outside the main tourist areas, which meant that it was pretty calm. Close enough to be in walking distance to all the sights we wanted to see in central London. The breakfast was very sparse and served in a cramped room, and all areas outside of the room itself (which was excellent!) was slightly dirty and worn down - not enough to affect our trip in any way though.
