It’s good to know that renovations are afoot as the room was quite shabby and the standard of cleanliness well below par (e.g. food on the walls, badly stained carpet). The corridors smell of damp. The stay was specifically for business purposes but the wifi disconnected frequently leaving me unable to complete any of the online meetings I had scheduled. I have stayed in this hotel previously and found it adequate, if tired, but overall standards were lower this time. I was not asked anything about my stay at checkout and was in a hurry to make my connection otherwise I would have raised the above with staff.

Stay here regularly- convenient transport to York centre nearby- restaurant & reception areas recently refurbished. Breakfast always very good. Don’t usually have any problems however on this occasion there was no soap in the dispensers in the bathroom only shampoo- didn’t find out until actually in shower- also only a couple of tissues in the tissue dispenser. Contacted reception and these were rectified a while later.

Second time staying here, slightly dated hotel however super comfortable beds, very helpful staff not a bad thing to say !! 100% recommend staying here. We got a complementary breakfast which was delicious. ( Birthday) 45 minute walk into town centre. Two local pubs near by. Garage/ off licence near by. Good Parking.

Stayed 4 nights while attending York races. Hotel is in the midst of a reception refurbishment which meant you had to go outdoors and walk round to the front to get into the restaurant. Not ideal. Also the restaurant was full of 'workies' from the refurbishment. You could smell the dust in the restaurant. The bedroom did not have a mini bar, safe, bathrobe or complimentary water as advertised. Breakfast served from 6:30 each morning. When we turned up on Saturday at 6:40 we were abruptly told it did not open until 7:00 as it's the weekend! Perhaps there should be an information book in the bedroom giving hotel details ! Incidentally we only received an email the day before our arrival advising of the reception refurbishment and to advise if you need assistance due to disability. I did email but never received a reply.

Hotel undergoing renovations so check in was difficult for disabled guests as no wheelchair access. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful . Lots of parking available for free and very handy for York central and racecourse.

It was under construction. We were not given advanced notice about this. Had trouble with WiFi. Shower drain was not fixed. Bathroom was dirty when we arrived. No amenities like toothpaste. . Had run out.

Very comfy room with a huge queen bed. Hotel was being renovated in public areas. Parking was also available which was great.

The staff were pleasant and the Breakfast was nice but the room was honestly awful. Fridge warm and dirty, shower flooded all over bathroom after 1min use and couldn't be fixed until the morning. Air com dripped and caused a soaking wet carpet in entrance way. Beds were made but not properly and duvet too small on kids bed single duvet for a double sheet. Bathroom was tiny couldn't shut the door without going into the shower. Door didn't lock and handle was coming off. I expect more from my past experiences with IHG brand.

We will be looking to raise a complaint about the hotel stay. The room on arrival smelt so badly of stale smoke. It was too late for us to speak to reception and change rooms as we have children who weee tired and wanted to sleep. There were cigarette butts in the window frame and ash all along the window as well. Will be looking for a refund for this stay as our clothes for our holiday then all smelt And we have no way of washing them

Rooms are in need of a serious refurb and cleanliness of our room was appalling. The carpet and bed were covered in tea/coffee stains, I even found a used tissue under the mattress protector. A glass in the room had lip marks on from previous guests and the bathroom area is not big enough and the shower tray was dirty. Will not be returning.

Comfortable, clean beds. Good breakfast options, spacious dining room. Nice staff. Cold shower reported on first morning but not fixed. Reported again after cold shower on 2nd morning and then fixed. Bathroom rather short of space, a bit squashed.r

Hotel looks a little shabby on the outside, but is in reasonably good condition internally. Very friendly and helpful staff. Conveniently positioned for city (about a 35min walk) free parking at hotel. Buffet breakfast with wide choices. The room was on the small side and we could hear other guests. Pillows were very hard and uncomfortable. All facilities in room worked well and were clean.

We found it comfortable, to a point. Aircon was a blessing. But when it not on and its cold . We found to be to hot in bed , kick blanket off it was to cold , a over sheet on the bed would of been good if we could kick the duvet off

We booked 2 rooms months in advance. On check in at 3pm only one room was ready so 4 of us had to share the shower facilities etc in 1 room. When we asked when the 2nd room would be ready we were told to wait and if we had an issue to find another hotel!! The 2nd room wasn't ready until 4.45pm. There were other people waiting in reception whose rooms weren't ready also. Not at all organised. Will not stay here again.

Room was not serviced even though the correct card was left on the door. However the lady at reception did kindly bring up fresh towels. We filled out a laundry form (in the room) and left our laundry at reception before 9am as requested. The form stated that laundry would be back in our room by 7pm. When enquiring at reception at 7.30pm we found the unwashed laundry still behind the reception desk.

Arrival staff very efficient and friendly. Breakfast staff also very friendly and helpful. Room was clean when we arrived, but as we stayed for 2 nights, there was no cleaning. On the first morning. Only milk replaced. Cups not washed, and tea bags not replenished.

Nice room, clean, quiet, iron, kettle and hairdryer... Nice chill area downstairs, nice seating area outside, weather permitting... On main bus route for into town 15mins or so...a spar and a few nice pubs also on the main road from the hotel.. I would defo stay again 👍👍👍staff nice and friendly.

Hotel is a great location, lovely walk into the city centre or catch the bus. Staff are so friendly and extremely helpful. Bedrooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast os tasty and plentiful. The only thin that lets the hotel down is the outside, aesthetically its not the nicest looking hotel once inside its absolutely fine. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

A spacious calm hotel out of the city walls by the racecourse. Very easy to get a bus in and out of the city. Friendly and helpful staff. Free onsite pafking excellent. Perfect location for York parkrun!

Reception area and restaraunt nice and modern. Breakfast was good. Dinner took 2.5 hours for 2 courses and needed multiple prompts to get food and many things not available. Staff were pleasant and apologetic but it wasn’t a great experience. Rooms were very basic. Lots of dirty glasses and linen outside our room whole stay. cobwebs all over the ceiling. Sofa bed was very uncomfortable.

A very nice stay. The hotel is a mile from the park and ride which was cheap and very efficient. The only issue we had was evening meals Poor menu, too much spicy on it. While breakfast was good evening meal was very average and poor choice unless you like spicy food
