The room was spacious and the beds comfortable . The room on arrival was very clean smelling . The walls and surfaces need a bit of tlc with splash marks and debris . The facilities with team making and fridge usage was a great touch for a multi day stay . Being a resort , there is a pool , bar and restaurant . The town is a 5 minute walk and all the vibeyards and beaches 10 -20 mins aroubd you . Overall a great value for money stay

The River is an ok option. We stayed in the rooms with cooking facilities and a spa. The cooking facilities were very basic and the spa was very hard to get in and out of, especially if you wanted to just use the shower. The bed was ok, the aircon in the living worked hard enough to cool the bedroom. Having the washing machine and dryer was useful. The restaurant in the pub is really good. The location is good. Having reception only open during business hours isn’t very convenient, especially if you arrive at 6pm and have no idea where to check in. We were not told anything about the key being in lock boxes or codes before arriving. There is an EV destination charger, which is not very fast and you need to get the key from reception. But be aware that locals going to the pub for a gig will park next to it because they don’t notice it. In addition, we had four nights of not having the linen being changed, and being told there was a charge for getting new towels (and only available during business hours) was not good. By the fourth night, the towels were getting a bit smelly. The sign saying that they would charge $50 if plates were dirty is unnecessary and unpleasant. Overall, it’s ok for the price, but if you go, be aware of these things.

We loved our stay at the River Resort in Margaret River Previously we have stayed at other properties in MR and always find ourselves going there for meals and drinks We were very comfortable there and will return there The property is good value and it is great that it has very good parking near the room and a guest laundry (coin operated) Laundry detergent is provided free of charge The room we had was at the back and had a separate kitchenette and lounge which was great Although we didn't cook it was good to be able to make tea and coffee and have cold drinks The only downside for me was getting in and out of the spa to shower but this is probably an age thing

The space was good and clean but disappointed no Airconditioning in the bedroom. Was super hot when I stayed and just didn’t cope cooling into bedroom. Sitting area fine but needed cool most to sleep. Also because it was hot the swimming pool was full of stunned bees which freaked out the kids and made swimming almost impossible. Perhaps a warning sign needed.

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff were helpful and thoughtful. When we arrived we were concerned our room was near rhe entertainment venu and the evening music may be very loud however although staff offered to move us we learned (correctly) the music ended at 9:00pm so it didnt disturb our or our grandchildrens night. For some reason the rehersals in late afternoon were louder than the evening performance. The room was clean and well equiped for our whole family. There is an alcohol store on site but it sells practically nothing else except things like peanuts or crisps. However the shops in the town are only 15 minutes walk or 3 mins in a car away with a good choice of shops and resturants. It was the wrong season for outdoor swimming so we didnt try that. There was room to park 2 cars by the suite and if not the car park for a 2nd car was only 2 mins walk away. It was a very convienient base to explore the area.

The Resort was really pleasant, nice large rooms on the ground floor, parking right outside the room. Coffee and tea were allocated at 2 per day per person. If you wanted more you had to pay. Milk allocation was very small, and we needed more than they gave us, so bought some at the supermarket. (I think the management should give more milk if needed) The menu was good, catered for both gluten free and Coeliac which catered for members of our party. It was an easy walk into the Main Street, I’m in a wheelchair but the push was quite easy - there were a couple of hills to negotiate, but my husband managed the push! Pool was clean and not too many people in, so we could have a dip without feeling too crowded.

No daily service for the room. In fact no service unless requested. Stayed a week and had to request clean towels and empty trash and make bed ourselves. Live music on weekends in beer garden which can be heard in rooms until 10:30. Great parking and easy walk to the Main Street in Margaret River. Good restaurant and bar on site. Reception closes early at 17:00.

Reasonable for the price but need bigger ceiling fan over the shower not window to prevent mould on the ceiling in bathroom. You could smell the mould. Not very healthy.

Would not recommend. Room was dirty, dirty floors, dirty curtains, dusty flowers and mouldy shower. Restaurant lost our order so took over an hour to get dinner. Dont try to check in early as they aren't interested either.

Great location good room but the wifi the television options and the inability to stream to the tv via our phone apps they need to update the televisions the choice of programs was the ABC AND THE RECEPTION ON legacy media was no visible images plus the bar choices for wine was limited and expensive . I would stay again if the tvs where updated to enable apps and if the venue had a better wine list

Huge rooms with an incredible spa bath - was lovely escape after a day of wineries. Older style rooms mean a few things are dated - but just adds to the charm. Wifi not great and not much of a kitchenette available.

Stayed in the family villa with a loft and there was plenty of space for 3 ppl. The apartment was well equipped, enabling cooking of meals in the evening. The only issue was the internet which was extremely slow. This is not luxurious accommodation but it was nevertheless comfortable! If you are checking in after 5 pm, u will need to inform the resort beforehand as arrangements will be made for checkin.

Huge room, which was lovely a huge contrast to where we are now. It's a bit dated but a huge comfy bed, Wifi is a bit hit and miss, and the shower over the huge spa bath had a tendency to leak over the floor. You need long legs to get into the spa to have a shower. Otherwise enjoyed our two nights. Restaurant on site a popular place.

Not overly impressed with this hotel. I was at a very noisy side of the hotel, right next to the road. From about 5 o’clock in the morning, cars would drive by every few minutes at maybe 10 meters from the window and could very clearly be heard. Bathroom was quite basic, low pressure shower, etc. I suppose it was OK-ish from a quality/price point of view. Still … I wouldn’t go back to this same hotel any time soon.

I loved the fact that there was a restaurant and all the staff were friendly. Was lovely and quiet. The only negative i have was that the spa bath was very high & to have a shower you had to climb up and in which was dangerous. I actually slipped and fell getting out because even though there was a shower curtain, water went everywhere.

Good old local hotel. I stayed in suite 7 and if you stay in rooms 1-7, you are above the pub and staying between fri & sat night is quite loud and noisey so be aware. The room we had was big and the spa was nice. The king sized bed was comfy. There’s no cleaning service which is apparently reflected in the price. Great location near the heart of Margs and staff are approachable with local advice. I stayed here once last year and was in a queen studio room. I won’t be back so I can experience something new, however my stay was still nice, hence my 5 star score

The River is an ok option. We stayed in the rooms with cooking facilities and a spa. The cooking facilities were very basic and the spa was very hard to get in and out of, especially if you wanted to just use the shower. The bed was ok, the aircon in the living worked hard enough to cool the bedroom. Having the washing machine and dryer was useful. The restaurant in the pub is really good. The location is good. Having reception only open during business hours isn’t very convenient, especially if you arrive at 6pm and have no idea where to check in. We were not told anything about the key being in lock boxes or codes before arriving. There is an EV destination charger, which is not very fast and you need to get the key from reception. But be aware that locals going to the pub for a gig will park next to it because they don’t notice it. Arrived after hours so all information required to collect keys was received on prior email. Easy to find room. Restaurant at front was ideal for dinner and saved us having to go out further for food. Very happy with food Choices. Comfortable room, lots of pillows. Quiet room. Good shower. Huge fridge. Easy walk into town next morning. Checked out early and gave keys to cleaning staff. Easy!

The villa we had was nice, can't complain about that. We stayed 2 nights, first night there was a band playing and the 'music' was extremely loud and went on until almost midnight. Even the windows were vibrating. Found it very hard to sleep. The next morning we woke to no water in the villa at all. Couldn't have a shower or make a coffee. Called the on duty manager, who was half asleep and not very helpful at all, was told the whole complex was out. I asked if it was a planned outage and when it would be turned back on, She said she didn't know. We were not offered any remedy, even a bottle of water to brush our teeth would have helped. Second night again the music was loud but a better choice of music and it went off at 10.30. Woke up to smashed glass in the driveway. They have the cheek to put in their welcome brochure that excessive noise will not be tolerated. Good one. If you want a nice peaceful stay in Margaret River, choose somewhere else.

My first night in my room was not very nice, was old and very stained and dated. Libby at reception rang and offered another renovated room which was lovely, very thoughtful of her. I took my family (7) to the restaurant for dinner and it was one of the best meals we have ever had. I would definitely stay again.

Great place to stay at Margaret River, with easy 10 mins walk or 2-3 mins drive away from the convenience of town, including all the food options and amenities. Beautiful resort with good sized rooms and well thought out layout. Service was friendly and helpful. We had a pleasant stay here and will stay again next time.

Great place to stay! Easy walking distance to the Main Street and lots of free parking. It’s an old building but charming with big rooms. We were in a room at the very back of the property which was quiet even on the weekend. Only downside was carrying a 40kg bag up the stairs so if you can’t do this I’d ask for a ground floor room.

The room was spacious and the beds comfortable . The room on arrival was very clean smelling . The walls and surfaces need a bit of tlc with splash marks and debris . The facilities with team making and fridge usage was a great touch for a multi day stay . Being a resort , there is a pool , bar and restaurant . The town is a 5 minute walk and all the vibeyards and beaches 10 -20 mins aroubd you . Overall a great value for money stay

We stayed in a front room above the pub as we have done before just passing through Margaret River. Positive - Good value for money, the room was clean with all the usual facilities, the bed was comfortable, lots of parking, evening meals available in downstairs restaurant and convenient to the town centre. Negative - Room furniture & carpet starting to age a bit, no breakfast available.

Nice clean tidy hotel. Friendly staff. 5 mins walk to the centre of town and 5 mins walk to the forest trails. Our room was basic and was very surprised there were no dining options for breakfast. Bar and restaurant don’t open till 12pm

We absolutely loved The River Resort. Great location, easy parking, lovely ambience and an easy walk to the main street. We arrived later than expected and after the check in closure time but Reception staff had it all organised and bar staff knew exactly what to do. We ate in the main bar/restaurant and the food was excellent - in fact we ate there twice over 3 nights and that is something we never do as we always like to share our money around town. On our first night there was live music in the back bar and the performing artist was fantastic. Room was very spacious as was the bathroom and loved the window seat in our room, was a nice place to snuggle up and hang out on the cold nights. The only issue was some odd noises that seemed to be coming from a room above and we were sure there were no rooms above us - husband thought it was clanking pipes, I thought it was footsteps and furniture being moved but it stopped at a decent time in the evening. Could be staff quarters above us. Certainly no issues with any noise from the pub/restaurant but it was June/winter so not as many patrons outside. The noise didn't distract from the overall ambience and we would definitely stay here if we are in Margaret River again.

Would not recommend. Room was dirty, dirty floors, dirty curtains, dusty flowers and mouldy shower. Restaurant lost our order so took over an hour to get dinner. Dont try to check in early as they aren't interested either.
