Staybridge Suites Milwaukee Airport South by IHG

Stayed at Staybridge Suites Milwaukee Airport South by IHG on April 25th for my daughter’s 16th birthday weekend and had a very disappointing experience. Sunday morning, I found a bed bug on the bathroom wall in Room 524. I took a picture and reported it immediately. The front desk clerk initially tried to tell me it was a box elder bug or ladybug. She was dismissive, but when I asked for someone to come to the room, she said she would send someone up. After waiting nearly an hour with no response, I went downstairs to show the photo myself. The front desk clerk was actually the General Manager, Vee Vee Reaves. She claimed not to know what type of bug it was, but said she would send someone up in a few minutes. Later, an employee named Mario came to the room, looked at the picture, and confirmed it was a bed bug. He was kind, apologetic, and professional. Unfortunately, the General Manager was dismissive, condescending, and never once apologized for the inconvenience. Other issues during our stay included a hot tub with only six working jets and an elevator that made a hard jolting stop on the 5th floor, making it feel unsafe to ride. After getting home, we had to hot wash all of our belongings to avoid bringing bugs home. I also emailed management the photos and was told I would hear back after an inspection, but days later I still have not received any follow-up. This was supposed to be a special birthday trip for my daughter. Instead, it was stressful and upsetting.

Loved the heated pool and hot tub (although the jets seeemd broken with little bubbles). Having a suite was nice with more room and a full refrigerator/kitchen with pots, pans and dishes. However, my one complain is that our suite had 2 double beds instead of Queen sized so it was feeling small with 2 on a bed. The breakfast was definitely better than a normal basic continental. I liked the fresh fruit and toppings like nuts for oatmeal and other hot breakfasts items like eggs. One observation I had was they only had 1 woman replenishing the breakfast food and coffee which resulted in her clearly stressed out and annoyed of requests to refill food and issues like cold coffee and food running out and not being replenished fast enough. They definitely need to add a 2nd staff member to assist as folks were left waiting for food and asking warm their cold coffee in the microwave. But overall, we had a great experience and my kids thoroughly enjoyed the pool area. I believe they also have free laundry just bring or buy the soap. Thanks.

Room was excellent but not any hot water in the morning for shower, very distracting.
