The hot tub was cemented in and the elevator was broke they put us on the 5th floor. Was told money would be refunded then they refused too

I absolutely loved the room and the view, I was in room 212, the palm trees are in the way a little bits it was ok. Room was so clean!!! The only problems I seen was parking kinda sucks, the wooden steps that lead to the beach are RAGGADY! Please be careful walking up and down those stairs.

The elevator is broken. That’s a huge inconvenience for unloading and loading. 4 flights of stairs. They notified me via text when I was half way there. No available rooms in thr building with

Elevator was not working! 66 years old on the 4th floor. They said they texted me but I didn't receive it. Chairs on balcony need replacements. They are cracked and difficult to sit in. Parking area was not clean.

You can’t expect much for a cheap hotel but this place was nasty, infested with roaches, the parking was horrible, elevators were so slow you you walk to the top faster? Plus they charged a $45 “resort fee”. Never again.

Very little parking- parking lot is very rough and cramped when there is a spot open. Maybe 15-20 spots for two buildings worth of people

Everything was good but the building needs work and grounds need to be cleaned trash and broken walkway to beach.

The pool area could use some updates. Having a few tables/chairs/umbrellas would have been much better. The cushions on the lounge chairs needs to be updated as well. All else was great. I was skeptical of booking, but it turned out to be a nice clean and quite stay.

We got a rate for half the price than other guests were paying that booked direct so it's hard to complain, but it we had paid full price I would be disappointed. The pictures we not accurate and I was led to believe my condo had a sitting area but it did not, just 2 beds. The pictures we not clear. Also the wording of fully stocked kitchen as also false advertising for our unit. So many things were missing and the property did not respond to my request, so we had to go to Dollar General to buy so many things a kitchen unit should already have! Drinking glasses, wine glasses, coffee mugs, no sharp knives, no paper towels, salt pepper, coffee filters, blender, fry pan, large bowls, wine opener, etc. When I book a condo with kitchen, it's intentional that I am going to cook daily! Also they advertised a bbq grill but they were worse than you'd find camping and you have to supply your own coals. Rental properties should have gas grills only! Plus provide grilling utensils. Lastly, no screens on windows so when you want fresh breeze and no A/C, you get bugs! The positive notes I can add was the staff was very kind under the circumstances of complaints they have to receive. It's a 5 story building and both units elevators were not working and so many elderly were staying there. Being right on the ocean is a great bonus and the pool conditions were great with lot's of comfortable lounger chairs.

I was very disappointed in my stay. The elevator was out for at least 24 hours on the day we checked out and nobody had any answers as to how long it would be out. I had my elderly sister with me and we were on the 4th floor. Couldn’t even go down to the beach our last day there as she couldn’t do the stairs. Our air condition went out that night also and maintenance had to come at 10:00 at night to fix it. The day we checked out we had to do the stairs and we both ended up on heating pads the next day for our backs I know things happen but when there is only one elevator it seems like the repair shouldn’t have taken that long as it affected in a negative way our whole trip. We won’t stay there again

The outside of the building is showing wear. The bathroom needs works by the bottom plastic molding was peeling. I saw mold in there too. Woke up next to large roach dying on the floor

I loved that it was a smaller place so not so crowded. The room and grounds were clean and well kept. The lady who checked us in was extremely nice and helpful.

This hotel is average but the view of the beach was great! It is a little further away from town but makes for a quiet stay and we practically had the beach to ourselves. The building is outdated with an elevator in need of repair. The rooms were pleasant enough but could be cleaned better. At check in our room still had sand on the floor and both my husband and I got glass splinters in our feet. The wifi is free but doesn’t work if you get a room above the 2nd floor.

Very clean room, excellent staff they were all very nice, we had a walkout room which made it very easy access to the pool and beach, however I was very unpleased about the 300 extra charge at check in. It’s a fee they charge then reimburse you after you leave (7-10 days). We budget for our vacation and that really put a huge damper on our trip.

The pictures when booking are misleading. It looks clean, bright and overall a good place to stay but, it is different once you get there. Our room was not clean- there was hair in the shower, hair in the freezer, it smelled stale, pen marks on the wall and there were crumbs in the bed. There was also no shower curtain liner so water got all over when we took showers. Upon arrival, our hotel door was very tricky to open and close. We had to maneuver the door perfectly or else it would refuse to close. We went back up to grab a quick lunch from our room and to our dismay, we were locked in. We tried for about 15 minutes to get out but we were trapped. We even tried the window but it wouldn’t budge. I finally called the front desk and she said she was going to send maintenance up there. The maintenance guy was kind and took care of it but it took over an hour out of our limited time at the beach to be fixed which was frustrating and saddening. We were also made aware that the locks were “on their last leg and they have new ones to install” which was disappointing because the whole situation could have been avoided had the new locks been installed. I get it things happen, but there is no excuse for the uncleanliness of the room and having non- functioning locks on doors.

The room itself was awesome. However, you can tell the floor was not swept or mopped.

My room, 105 (direct beach access on 1st floor) was extremely dirty, to the point that it should be considered a health hazard. The fan in the room was absolutely CAKED in dust, and the ceiling above the bed was speckled with mold EVERYWHERE! I can't make this up. Conveniently, I have severe dust and mold allergies. I didn't notice just how bad the condition of the room was until night time when I went to bed (I quickly checked in earlier that evening and wasn't really back in the room till it was time to sleep). As I was trying to go to sleep, my lungs started to burn and my nostrils soon closed up all the way. My eyes also burned. Mind you, my allergies aren't this bad with normal/acceptable levels of dust - but this was excessive. No level of mold is ever acceptable. Unable to sleep, I called the front desk to ask if they could put me in another room or help in any way. They just said "sorry we don't have any available rooms tonight" and that was it. No offer to come do some extra cleaning, no offer for reimbursement, nothing. The mattress itself was also extremely uncomfortable and the sheets didn't smell clean. I didn't even break the bed to sleep under the covers - I ended up sleeping over it and covering up with a blanket. Absolute misery. Direct beach access isn't even worth it. I rather sleep in my car next time and park right outside the beach over staying at this dump (or any other similar dump nearby) again.

Bathroom was dirty. Roaches in the kitchen. My room key was turned off hrs before check out.

I only stayed for a night so the kinda worn down building wasn't too much of an issue, but this building definitely needs some touching up. Let me say being right on the beach is a MAJOR perk. And I had a room facing the Gulf so the view was incredible. The room itself had a funky smell when I walked in and the whole property could be updated / renovated. But if you need to rest your head for a night, it's not a bad spot.

Dirty filthy disgusting. Grease all over stove. Nothing was wiped down hair all over in bathroom. Same EVERYWHERE.... there was toothpaste caked to the bathroom faucet... no toilet paper in the bathroom... we won't be staying here again.. and we list our stay in every travel forum i can find....

The rooms are spacious and overall not terrible, it’s just an old building. The AC was loud and the room was either cold or hot. This is fine for a budget friendly vacation but don’t expect much.

Very run down. Upgraded to a better room that was supposed to have a sliding door on the balcony, ended up with a solid door and a window . Not the same. I wish I wouldn't have paid for a upgrade . The beach was great but I wouldn't stay there again.

The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. The beds were not great, too soft so not very supportive. No guide for the tv channels so you have to flip through dozens of channels. Even though most of the trip is spent outside occasionally we would turn on the tv and not being able to find anything was annoying. It is also way down the beach so you do have to drive a good distance to find restaurants and shops, but it was great if you are looking for something quiet and family friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

Love the view..the bed was very comfortable. Better access to towels daily. Need to upgrade amenities, ie TV Air conditioner unit. Would have been nice to have a screen on the balcony door.

Room was spacious and had everything we needed. View from the balcony was beautiful. Beach access was easy and not crowded. We did not use the pool but it appeared clean and nice. Rooms are only cleaned every 3 days, so quite a bit of sand can accumulate. The room isnt luxurious but for the price and area, we were very satisfied. Staff was super friendly and helpful.

It's an older hotel, so not in best shape. Room had to beds but completely separated. Very small bathroom.

Room was nice but due to the wall being between the beds the front bed was HOT had no air. NO balcony chairs. Parking SUCKS!! NO WIFI and asked but was told it was working and 4 grandkids had nothing to do at night. A cartoon channel should be offered also. Enjoyed it being away from the main town but worried about my car across the street all night.

Room was clean, kitchen stocked better than I expected, staff nice, surprised there is a $50/night damage fee and y’all the beds are old and terribly uncomfortable. Squeaky springs bruised my hips and man my back hurts! Hate it too bc this is pretty nice place other wise.

The rooms were very nice, most of the staff is very friendly and helpful. We had a problem with the internet not working the entire time and were told something different by each other person we spoke to: one of the main reasons we stayed here was because they advertised they have good WiFi .

For the price, it cannot be beat. Rooms were clean ocean view kitchenette for unbelievable price.

I booked a stay at Sugar Sands in Panama City Beach, FL for 1 night on 6/16/24. I arrived at the resort shortly after 4 pm and I was told my room was not ready and that I would receive a call when it’s ready. So I left. After not receiving a call I decided to call the resort to see if my room was ready. I called several times there was no one answering. Finally sometime after 6 pm I was able to reach someone. At this time I was told it still was not ready and it should be ready in 10 mins. So I didn’t get checked in until around 6:45 pm. After I checked in I went to my room only to find that I was given the wrong type of room. I had paid for the deluxe suite with beach/gulf view with 2 queen beds but I was booked into a suite with 2 queen beds. So I went back into the office to confirm my room details. I was then put into another room which I had paid for. I woke up around 7:45 am the next morning and called the front desk to ask if I could do a late check-out but I was rudely told “no check-out is at 10. “ The staff is very rude and unprofessional and I am very disappointed with my stay at this resort. I also asked for corporate number and I was given a fake email address to contact someone.. PLEASE BE AWARE AND DON’T BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY!!!

My hotel room was not available. It was double booked out. Once i arrived no where to stay. I AM HIGHLY UPSET AND WANT A REFUND!!!!

No hot water during the week. We were promised a refund of fifty percent and in the end we did not. Worst experience and customer service

We would not recommend this hotel. Upon arrival we were told there was a $25 per night "resort fee" for our room. I had prepaid so this was listed nowhere in the agreement. Not happy. Hotel staff was rude and unhelpful. We stayed for 7 nights and not once did someone come and clean our room. We had to ask the front desk for toilet paper and towels and they would give you one towel and one roll of TP at a time. Half the channels on the tv did not work. Wifi never worked unless you were standing next to the lobby. Coffee was never available yet all the employees were conveniently drinking coffee right next to the coffee pot.... Pool towels were never replenished. Constant smell of weed coming from the balcony no matter day or night. The property is right on the beach so that is the only positive. I'm still not aware of what the $25 resort fee included. I'm thinking it was just a scam at the front desk.

I booked my room in advance. When we got there at check-in time, I was told they could not issue room keys because their system was down and to come back later. After returning, we were finally issued room keys. Go up to the room and find it's occupied by someone else! Go back to the front desk and they said they had no idea who was in the room. After about an hour, they finally said they had no other rooms available! So I was forced to find another place to stay at 8:30pm on a Saturday night. Sugar Sands would not even give a cash refund to help find another location, despite their errors. One whole evening of our vacation was wasted. It was a terrible experience.

An older beachfront hotel with amazing location. Not fancy but clean and updated. Ground floor directly on the beach. Perfect for my requirements. Like having your own place with just a few from steps from the sand. Just far enough away from the crazy of the busy strip but close enough to everything with just a quick drive to access shopping. No shoes required if you request ground floor. Pool was very clean and warm. Just toes in the sand. I would most definitely recommend if you are looking for direct beach access.

We enjoyed our stay along the beach! Away from the busiest area but close enough to visit that area if we wanted to. The staff is great!

Very affordable on-the-beach property away from the downtown strip with wide open beaches.

Pros - Amazing beach access and view. Rooms are nice and clean. Have your own private balcony. Beds are separate from each other (not side by side). Large fridge and kitchen utensils are supplied. Cons - Beds are not very comfortable. Parking is a mess, better off parking across the road. Elevator we used was sketchy. Not close to any restaurants or bars.

The best part about this property is the quiet location and access to the beach. The beach doesn’t feel crowded and can be enjoyed. Cleaning services is the worst, they don’t even try. Making the bed doesn’t account for clean sheets, they didn’t even do that. Take a broom and it will make things easier. You may have to buy a pan or two to cook, as these weren’t provided. Take your own dish washing sponge also. No hot water for showers and parking is terrible. Elevator broke so we had to go up and down the stairs at the time of checking out. Rooms are ok, beds are uncomfortable. Will not be returning to this property.

Great location on the beach!

This is my second time staying here. I really enjoy this hotel. The area around it is very quiet and enjoyable. The staff is always friendly and professional. The hotel is directly on the beach and a plus is it has a heated pool for colder month fun.

The location away from the crowds was unmatched. The beach was pristine. The beds were comfortable and clean! The balcony was loud and wet due to the air conditioning unit. The elevator was questionable and extremely slow! All in all a good choice for people wanting an affordable room for vacation but if you require much more than a clean room you probably need to keep looking!

We chose this hotel for economic reasons ! We did not want a five-star hotel, but we wanted a five star beach experience !!! And that is exactly what we got !!!! The beach is absolutely incredibly beautiful!!! The hotel staff is very friendly. The hotel is very clean and the beds and the pillows are clean and comfortable for sleep after a fun filled beach day !! A rental car is necessary as there is no place to eat for about 4 miles . We absolutely loved our stay here and plan to return !!!!!

They need to completely renovate the whole hotel and all amenities. Then hire people that knows how to smile, be courteous, and being helpful. It’s dirty and NO BREAKFAST!

I really enjoyed my stay at Sugar Sands. A friend and I were looking for a small place on the beach to sit and read and relax. This was it! We booked a queen suite and I was impressed with the size and how clean it was. The air conditioning in our room was amazing, especially since it was so unbelievably humid outside. The resort was fairly quiet and the few evenings people were out by the pool late, our air conditioner drowned the sound out. We were on the second floor, so we were able to walk up and not wait on the elevator each time. The elevator was not air conditioned, so it was extremely hot. There were grills by the pool which we did not use but people left their charcoal and lighter fluid so others could also use it. They seemed to be used every evening. There isn’t anything within quick walking distance, but because of that, the beach isn’t crowded. It was a great week! Things we enjoyed: ice machine by the pool, coffee and water cooler available 24/7, staff super friendly, room was clean, any floats or pool toys left by previous guests were available to use which was great, pool towels by the pool to use Suggestions: umbrellas by the pool! In the middle of the day, there is NO shade anywhere. That would be such a simple improvement and would make an amazing difference! More pool towels- it was always empty or only had a few available. The hallways and stairs could use some power washing or a scrubbing. I did see staff sweeping the mail walkways quite often.

It was on the beach. All rooms have a ocean view. Beds were not comfortable at all. Coffee is available 24/7. It’s away from PCB shops and restaurants.

Shops are far away, so as restaurant.

I loved the location! We laid in bed watching the waves after our morning stroll on the beach. The sunrise was stunning! Everything was relaxing. The kitchenette was stocked with pots, pans, some storage containers, etc. Pretty much everything you'd need except the groceries. The room itself was clean, comfortable beds, all updated. It was very roomy. The chairs on our patio were niceto sit in and watch the waves. For kids, they have a small area of turf with some toys. Even myself and my husband played some connect four. It wa broken but we emphasized. The pool area has plenty of lounge chairs. Breakfast: They had coffee available, and blueberry muffins. If you usually eat breakfast then you'll be hungry. Although a few miles down the road is a place called David's Snow balls- It's a must! They serve New Orleans style food! We will recommend the place, and come back for sure. The price & location sold us! I would suggest always locking your slider door, an employee did come into our room. They stated it was the wrong room.

I booked the suite(emerald) and it was awesome. With bunk beds, a bedroom with 2 queen beds ,full kitchen ,dining area and sofas. It was clean and we love the space. Love the beach view. Pool was heated. Downside is no restaurant in house, We have to wait past 4pm to checked in because room was not ready. Only 1 kitchen towel provided, no sponge to wash dishes,no broom and dusk pan in room. But overall , we are very satisfied with our stay and the room.

I was pleasantly greeted by the girl at the front desk. Check in was easy. Room was as expected. It was nice to be able to cook breakfast and coffee. It was convenient to be able to keep lunch stuff in the refrigerator. The view and beach access are superb.

I read a lot of comments before reserving our room. It's a beach motel. We had room 410 great view, quiet, room was clean had a small kitchen. We definitely will be back.. Few things that people should be aware of we could not find any restaurants or bars within walking distance and there is not a hot tub for people who use them.
