The staff are super nice but this is a very old Inn and I do not feel it is what was pictured. I would say it was quaint and charming but it's just outdated and needs a thorough cleaning. We did order salads for dinner and sat outside to eat and that was nice. The pictures show a lovely garden looking out the back deck but it is very overgrown and definitely not any type of garden. I was not a fan of Chester but I wish the owner well because he was a very pleasant man.

In its day, I’m sure it was worth the stay but it needs better upkeep or it won’t have many guests in a few years. Online pictures of the exterior are not indicative of the work that needs to be done. Total exterior painting is needed including repairs to black top and deck. The gardens and grounds are not well kept. Interior looks very welcoming initially but worn out carpeting on lobby staircase is very noticeable along with damaged carpeting in the hallway on second floor. At first glance the room looked fine but then realized there was only one bar of soap on sink and none in shower. Metal shower drain cap was loose and upside down which I felt poking into my foot when showering. Found a pill and hair pin in plain sight on floor and vacuuming/dusting around all floor trim is very much needed. Even though they were sold out at +$200 a night, that won’t last for long unless they invest in much needed repairs and upgrades.

This property had a lot of history to tell. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The restaurant in the hotel was very good too.
