Hôtel De Wimereux

Room not very large at all considering price, and windows didn’t open properly to let in air on a very hot night. Curtains had been left open all day so sun had heated room significantly which was a fundamental error in a heatwave. Not enough pillows on beds (one thin pillow per person). Parking charged at 20euro per night which was not mentioned on hotels.com nor at check in. I asked for a slice of lemon at breakfast, she said yes then never brought it. Table at breakfast was so close to buffet customers were bumping into me as I ate. I expected all that in a cheap chain hotel, not at this price.

Review hôtel Wimereux I barely knew anything about this hotel when I booked it. Its very hard to find a room for a 3 person family. Inwas just happy to have found somewhere affordable we could spend the night before heading to Ireland. It turned out to be brilliant. It’s in the mainstreet of the centre of a little seaside/river side town. 7 minute walk from the beach and boulevard. We had a clean adorable 4 bed apartment. Our daughter had her own room. The staff were old school hospitality. Extremely helpful, caring, friendly, patient and polite. Even for midnight arrivals.The restaurant serves fresh well prepared food (surf and turf) and the desserts are to die for. The music in de restaurant and hotel is pleasantly eclectic and at a non-intrusive volume. The restaurant has some lovely old features and apparently stems from 1848 . We wanted to sit in the beautiful garden terras to eat our puds and the lovely staff immediately followed us to make sure we were comfortable with blankets and a fire. The staff here are incredibly alert and acute. The hotel may be in need of some cosmetic repairs but they the old furnishings are intact & added to with tasteful new ones We stayed here on the way to, and from, Ireland and will recommend it to our F&F.

An excellent hotel, recently changed hands and significantly refreshed. Room 5 still isn’t great, it’s a bit too ‘cosy’ for two but was fine solo. Breakfast was good too.
