Fairfield Inn and Suites Charleston North/University Area

I stayed for 3 nights at the Fairfield Inn & Suites. The check in process was quick and easy. The room was unremarkable but clean. The tv was not an old box tv, but also not a current flat screen and fairly small. The air conditioner worked intermittently. The mini fridge doesn't get cold so any leftovers will spoil. The next door neighbor's door was incredibly squeaky and they opened and shut the door at least 30 times in the morning prior to 7 am. I did ask the front desk to have maintenance WD-40 it and that seemed to take care of the squeak. It would be nice if they could figure a way to minimize the banging from when people just let the door slam. The breakfast is complimentary and I felt it was reasonable. No one cleaned the room (I know that a lot of hotels are moving towards reducing/eliminating cleaning services but it's not my preference). For the last evening someone put new towels in the room but that was the extent of the 'servicing'. Trash was not removed and nothing was cleaned or tidied. Overall, the hotel was decent but not one I would necessarily recommend. The elevator is really slow so we typically took the stairwell. There are boxes of old stained pillows and outdated artwork being stored in there on the ground level... I can only assume until trash day. It's not a great look for a space frequented by the guests.

Everything was great…except the elevator! The evening we checked in…the elevator quit working. We were on the third floor…did not like climbing/descending three flights of stairs. Thankfully the next morning the elevator was working!! That was really the only negative thing about our stay.

The front desk clerk was helpful in letting us pick a room, but the ice machine he placed us close to was -broken- anyway. The pool/hot tub area was clean with plenty of chairs, tables, and loungers. The gym looked sufficient, but rather small. The breakfast area was comfortable and the food was tasty. Oatmeal, cereal, waffles, yogurt, etc. The scrambled eggs were great, but the sausage and bacon were just ok. Attendants kept everything stocked and clean as people came and went for food. Overall, breakfast was good. A very nice choice, I’d choose it again if I needed to stay in the area.

The room and hotel were very clean. Staff was friendly especially the woman who served/managed the breakfast buffet. The hot tub was very relaxing after a long day. The room seemed old but was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Lobby was under renovation, however this had no bearing on the quality of my stay. My room was newly renovated and very clean. Very comfy bed and plenty of room. Pool and whirlpool spa were both clean and enjoyable in the summer heat. Staff were pleasant and helpful during entire visit. Would definitely stay again.

Checkin staff were friendly Roof smelled like old wet towels Elevator was broken and no call to warn us Bathroom had black mold on caulking of shower Bed springs completely blown out, no cushion, felt like a pull out couch mattress or a cot. Breakfast food was days old, the hard boiled eggs were gelatinous, not fresh. Manager gave a refund for stay.

Nice pool and jacuzzi. Tiny gym.

I requested a suite, it was clean and comfortable. Staff was helpful. Food nearby, highly recommend the milkshakes at the place in front of lobby. The pool was cold, had looked forward to that.

Elevators were out of service.

Liked the friendliness of the staff, didn't appreciate being located on a floor where significant renovations were actively going on - fortunately we were gone a good portion of the time, but when morning when we tried to sleep in, the noise right outside our door made it impossible. The morning of the third day we asked that our room be (finally) made up. They offered to relocate us, but we were unable to stay and take the time to do that, and asked them to just make up the room - which they promised to do, and then failed to do, so I had to go back down to get towels after we returned that evening and found the room untouched. The room had finally been made up after our fourth day there, but woke up the following morning for an early departure prior to the availability of coffee in the lobby, and found that when they restocked our coffee in the room, they only provided one cup. Not impressed...

The room was very clear upon arrival. The desk staff was very polite and nice. BUT, I was there friday till sunday and noone came to my room to clean or replace towels or anything. I was very disappointed in that.

The property was in a convenient location not far from the interstate. However, for the $200 rate/night, the hotel was awful. The hallway smelled terrible where our room was located. The bed was lumpy. I didn't sleep well at all. Baby roach was crawling up the wall beside the bed. The tub and sink was cloaked backing up with water. This was one the worst Marriot stays that we have ever experienced.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Very clean facility. Excellent breakfast. Good value.

Stay was very average. Booked another night at hotel desk because we were enjoying Charleston area 2 days before our check out and receptionist checked us out at that moment as if we didn’t have another night to stay and then charged my card for $250. I was told I’d be refunded by the GM 2 days after check out because it was a mistake and it’s been 2 weeks and my $250 has not returned to card. Still says pending and phone number listed to location will not answer. It has an automated message and will not allow you to leave a message. I am beyond upset. I will make sure to never book at this location again. Desk staff were incompetent and nobody could help until GM came in. GM came in and told me he’d be sure to refund me and force the transaction to be stopped and it was not stopped. I’m home awaiting $250 3hrs away from hotel and can’t get ANYONE on the phone. I feel robbed and the hotel was a below average in decor, amenities and even had to switch rooms at arrival bc ours had hair, and stains in bed (human dna) .. the room transferred into smelled so bad and had cigarette ashes in chair but I didn’t complain nor ask to be moved again. Beyond upset and looking to see how I can get back my hard earned money.

Could not control room temperature

Always stay there and they have improved the rooms.

We cut our trip short. The facility was noisy both from the hallway and the street noises. Our bed was tilted with our heads at a lower point than our feet. This was not comfortable at all. We were disappointed, Marriott's are usually better stays.

My mom takes chemo treatment across the street at the MUSC infusion center. This facility is perfect for a few nights stay. The beds are the most comfortable I have felt at a hotel in a long time. The staff is very friendly and accommodates also any of our request. They even allowed us to do a late check out when my mom treatment ran over.

Good location. Kind of an old facility. Floors are broken up, so lots of loud foot stomping at night.

The young man at check in was very polite and helpful. I had some concerns at checkout. The young lady at checkout wasn’t professional and she never asked about my stay. She was kinda rude but the other young lady there with her said have a nice day ma’am . So fit wasn’t for her I would have been upset

The young gal at the front desk offered a list of other customers favorite eateries and entertainment for the area. Appreciate employees that go up and beyond! I wish id have got her name. Thank You!

I received cancer treatment at MUSC across the street from the hotel. My stay was relaxing and peaceful. My husband and I even stayed a few days after just to relax. Everything was clean and the service was great.

The property was amazing and quiet. The breakfast was the highlight and the staff were super friendly and gave us pointers on areas to visit.

I got to the front desk and there was absolutely no on there .I waited for 20 minutes before someone came to assist me and His Name was Ron. No apologies for the wait or anything..I get to my room and the toliet won't flush..Very disappointed

It was a last minute stay. Process went very smoothly and gentleman at the front desk was very helpful. Quality of room was just fine. Convenient location. Solid B+

So we stayed for the better part of the last week, 5 days between June 7 and June 12. It was an older hotel, small closet, but that didn't bother me. Mike who checked us in and out on first and last day was good. Ron was on duty the night prior to our leaving, Sunday June 11. We'd called to ask for room refresh that morn, they said yes, got back late to find unmade beds, no new towels, and mound of dirty towels 4 ft high in bathroom. Went downstairs to explain problem, and no front desk person on post. Had to wait 5 minutes. Ron comes in, I explain issue, he says "I can't help you." I said: "Correction, there are actually TWO people who could fix this problem -- you and me -- but neither of us WANT to make my beds or service my room at midnight." I then asked him to refund a night of stay, and he said again "I can't" but told me I could "talk to his supervisor in the morning." I asked if she'd be "on at 4 a.m., b/c we had to leave for airport at 4:30" and he said no. I asked him to leave her a note, and he said he could not. At that point, staring at a white male who was at least my age, I was pretty livid -- b/c whether or not Ron wanted to admit he COULD read, write, make beds, and get clean towels -- the fact was he COULD ... and he was just being straight up unhelpful and specializing in telling the guest what I could NOT have. I explained that from 2016 thru Mar 2020, we stayed at Marriott properties once a week, on average. STILL NO HELP. I'm livid....

The stay was nice. But no one will answer the phone. I left something very expensive and they keep hanging up on me as I am on hold, or will not answer.

Stayed for one night visiting family. Clean nice facilities staff very courteous and helpful. Located near many food options

Good hotel and centrally located. Conveniently accessible to airport.

Had a quick stay to visit my daughter. Very nice hotel, very convenient area.easy to get in and out, close to the interstate. Will stay here again

The room was super clean and fresh. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the front desk staff was super friendly. Great location - you are 15 to 20 minutes from all of the sightseeing without being too close.

Hotel is conveniently located near gas stations and restaurants (walking distance). Clean and quiet area.

Easy to find and good access to highway.

Visiting Charleston Southern so a great location for that. Plenty of food choices around. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast. Clean rooms.

Had a great time with the family. Not as congested or expensive as downtown Charleston

DELICIOUS BREAKFAST! Best continental we've ever had! And ALL of the staff, front front desk, to house cleaning, to cook, were all wonderfully friendly!

The hotel and rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast selection is less than other Fairfield hotels. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel was very clean and quiet. Staff very friendly. Only downside was the breakfast options. Eggs watery and mini quiche were over cooked. Starbucks across the parking lot in case you want a quick breakfast.

The rude people packed up al the breakfast and didn’t leave any for anyone else. There was not enough food left for other guests and hotel didn’t have any more so we had to go out for breakfast.
