No elevator so you have to climb all the stairs! Made several trips up and down.

The beds were really uncomfortable. Room was clean. For what seemed a newer property the rooms were pretty dated. The one thing that made the whole experience not great…the pool was closed. Had they put this on their website or in email to me, I would have booked somewhere else. I work out of town sometimes, and the one reason I had my husband and son travel the 100 miles to stay with was to let him swim. Disappointed little boy.

Pool was not working and it was not said on the reservation.

The Horizon Inn is under new management and they have signs all over the walls and doors telling the guests what is permitted. It does not feel warm and welcoming like it has in the past. Breakfast food is only served in the dining room. I have never been to a hotel where they will not allow guests to take food to your room to eat. It is NOT a buffet. The food included was eggs, sausage and biscuits and gravy. I was stopped by the front desk staff to not take the food to my room. The pool is closed for construction and the gym looked like it was under construction also. The new management needs to work on their customer service especially for this midwestern community.

Check-in was fairly smooth, although it appeared the gentleman who checked us in was new, so it took a little bit more them than normal. We didn't receive a warm and fuzzy welcome and seemed to be a bit of an inconvenience to take them away from their work. Upon check-in we noticed extreme humidity. I noticed a dehumidifier in the hallway, however the entire room was damp. (This was entire hotel, not just our room.) The room seemed fairly clean upon first glance, however the bedding had dirty spots that we noticed later and the bathroom floor wasn't super clean. The pool area was closed/boarded up which would have been nice to know in advance. Breakfast was below average as well for a hotel offering the free service. They did have waffles, sausage and gravy, cereal, bagels, and bread. There were eggs in the refrigerator that you had to warm up yourself. Coffee cups were mini sized which I also felt was off. We just just grabbed coffee and went to the local coffee shop in town for breakfast, as we don't expect a gourmet meal at these places. In summary, it was not terrible, however I would not run back to stay here. The cleanliness was not to a standard that it should be. (They did knock on our door to see if we needed anything, but didn't come in to clean our room. We were not given any soap so we asked for that and clean towels.) Customer services was also below a standard that it should be.

I was sad to hear the pool was broken down because my daughter and sons were gonna come over and hang with me and swim but understand it was something that was out of your guys control. I have to say I slept very well and I don’t always get good night sleep in hotels.

It needs updating! The website claims a pool and exercise area, both of which have been closed for at least two years. The first thing you see as you enter the hotel are gaming machines which isn't inviting to me. It is a two-story hotel but does not have an elevator. It would be nice to let the guests know that ahead of making their reservation. A towel was frayed. Water pressure in the sink was strong, but in the shower was weak. Breakfast choices are only "so, so" and the refrigerator with milk, etc. has had a broken seal for over a year. Hotel choices in the area are very limited, that's why we continue to go back to Horizon, but we had a water leak issue 6 months ago, with water on our bathroom floor and the carpeting outside the bathroom. During this visit a ladder was right outside our door with more issues being addressed in the ceiling of the hallway. We are considering traveling back and forth 40 miles in order to have better accommodations and still visit with my 95 year old mom.

This was perfect for what I needed. It was inexpensive, clean, comfortable, and everyone was very nice. It was nice to have a microwave and fridge. For some reason, many hotels are getting away from that.

The room had a distinct smoke smell. It was a non-smoking room. I was told that some rooms in the hotel "used to be" smoking rooms, and they were unable to get the odor out of the room. I was also told they did not know which rooms used to be non-smoking rooms, so it wouldn\'t do me any good to change rooms.

Facility was clean and quiet, staff is friendly and accommodating. Room rates were very reasonable, our room was comfortable and clean. We were traveling with our dogs, they were very helpful with getting us a room near an exit for potty breaks. Breakfast was good, only request would be changing breakfast items daily. Having the same breakfast every morning gets old, though one shouldn't complain about free breakfast. Overall, a positive experience and love that they allow pets.

I’ve started here now six times or so and this time was a much different experience. I was given a second floor room instead of first and it went from pretty nice to pretty gross fast. The bedding on the first floor is nice and relatively new. Second floor bedding looks decades old and there is a smell I couldn’t identify (musty-ish). If I can’t get a first floor room in the future I probably won’t stay here.

It was a great spot to get a good nights rest. It was quiet and peaceful. The breakfast was warm and good. Absolutely perfect. Will stay again.

Very nice stay. Front desk girls were wonderful. Only issue we had was a/c was not cooling very well.

Bed was amazing

Booked a room and specified 6 people. Which we understand that there are very limited options that can accommodate 6 people. So we were surprised that a 2 queen would fit us all. We assumed there would be a rollaway or pull-out. The hotel insisted on charging us extra. After driving 6 hours this is not how I wanted to spend my check in process.

Paid in full through Expedia and was charged extra at check in and when asking for a refund I was directed to contact Expedia even though Expedia had nothing to do with the extra charge the woman working the check in counter accidentally charged the extra and the manager is not available and I was directed towards

Expedia was easy to navigate to book a room. We arrived after 9pm and desk clerk was upbeat and informative. Quick check-in.

Front desk was very friendly. Room was clean and the price was right.

Unfortunately like everywhere they seem to be understaffed. Because of that I had to wait over an hour at the front desk to get a room. When I got to the room there was no toilet paper or towels. Four phone calls (with no answer) later I approached the desk not once but three times to get some towels and toilet paper delivered. On the fourth try, the following day, when I ran into an employee in the hallway by my room, I finally got what I needed.

Conveniently located hotel with food options nearby. Quiet hotel with comfortable beds and a decent breakfast. Check in was easy and the staff is friendly.

Was conveniently close to wedding reception venue

This a great motel. Clean, friendly, spacious at a great rate. The clerk was very helpful and found an additional discount for the room. I always check room cleanliness before bringing luggage in. This is one the cleanest rooms I’ve ever been in. Even the AC filters were clean. If you want to see how much attention is given to the room, check the filters and top of the headboard. Plenty of food and shopping within walking distance The only complaint I would have is the bed is a bit too firm for me and I could not get the room dark because the outside flood light is right above the room. I would suggest a window valance at the top . That being said I will use the motel again .

Quiet place

Place was clean and staff was friendly. Only complaint I have is that they advertise breakfast is 6am to 10am. We went to breakfast at 830am and there was no food. The crockpots were empty so we went to McDonalds for breakfast.

The staff were extremely courteous. Rooms were basic but clean and very nice. great morning breakfast buffet with eggs, sausage, waffles, biscuits and gravy and cereals.

The room was comfortable and clean. My blow dryer did not work, nor did the outlets in the bathroom. I reported this and it was corrected for the next day. The breakfast was just OK. Coffee not very good, too weak. Only one flavor of yoghurt. Waffle maker not working properly.

We have stayed here several times and have been pleased with the quiet area and cleanliness of the facilities. The beds are comfortable and the showers are fine. The breakfast however is poorly maintained and the supplies slim. You really have to get up early to have any selection. I do recommend the place for comfort and cleanliness.
