The Trail Inn - Amana, IA - Main Amana Colony

Aside from the location it was a very disappointing place. We were in room 222 behind the main building in the Sandstone Building. Pros: location to what we needed (Amana Festhalle Barn). Cons: Room was old with nasty carpet. The building smelled musty. Wifi was so spotty we couldn't count on watching TV. It would buffer if it even came on at all. Bed was very squeaky. Everytime we moved it was loud. The air conditioner was in the wall at knee level and partially blocked by the bed. Not sufficient for the room. No live person on site. If you have any issues you have to talk to an ipad mounted on the wall in the lobby. Bathroom needs massive updates. Shower pressure was very bad. Took forever to wash soap off and get the shampoo out of my hair. Every time we flushed the toilet would run until we learned to jiggle the handle and make it stop.

If you need a room for a stay in Amana this is the hotel to spend the night/s. Staff helpful. Check-in is done on phone.

It seemed off-putting at first that there was no front desk personnel, but it actually works out well and no complaints there. A quick contact and we were able to get a second key we needed. Hands down, the best shower pressure I’ve ever had at a hotel. Loved that. The Wi-Fi connectivity for our phones and the TV services was the only disappointment. In today’s world, that should be a given. Overall we were happy with our stay.
