Palace Hotel do Bussaco

The hotel and grounds are beautiful and furnishings were suited to the era of when it was built. The breakfast was excellent and included with our stay. There is only one option for dinner and it was pricey. There is no wi-fi in the room, only the area near the bar. The TV in the room only has Portuguese channels. It would have been nice to have music playing in the bar/lounge.

Passamos uma noite , local muito bonito mas o hotel falta manutenção e atualização em alguns aspectos. Pouco isolamento acustico, ouvia-se tudo do quarto ao lado. Não tem internet disponivel

8月にスーペリア ダブルまたはツインルームに1泊しました。移動はコインブラ駅とコインブラB駅の間のバスターミナルからUberで移動しましたが36.17ユーロでした。ちょっと距離があるので事前に予約しておくと安心かと思います。 入口が少しわかりにくいのですが、駐車場から廊下を歩くと「RECEPCAO」という看板が小さくでているので、そこを入るとフロントになっていました。施設には宿泊者用のエレベーターはないようなので、荷物はホテルの方が運んでくれました。 1907年にポルトガル最後の国王が離宮として建物で、アズレージョが見事なことで有名です。それぞれのアズレージョにはストーリーがあるようなので、内容を調べながら見るとより楽しめると思います。 宿泊した部屋からは眺望はなく、施設の屋根と壁だけが見える感じでした。窓枠などはかなりもろくなっている印象でしたが、それも趣のうちという感じです。家具類はアンティークのようでしたが、ベッドは狭く寝返りの振動が隣に伝わりやすい感じでした。洗面台は2つあり、バスタブもありますが、シャワーヘッドを止めるところがなく、水道蛇口付近に巻き付けてありちょっと使いづらかったです。歯ブラシはありませんでした。 部屋には室外機が不要なエアコンがありましたが、電源が抜けており使えませんでした。外の温度自体は日向でなければ涼しいのですが、窓が一つしかなく、あまり空気が通らないので、少々暑かったです。 敷地内にはちょっとした軽食をとるお店と小さなお土産屋さんがありますが、それ以外はホテルと庭園が広がるだけ、という場所です。WiFiは食堂のとなりのラウンジのようなスペースでしか使えず、しかもかなり低速でした。4Gも電波が弱くネットにつなぐのはなかなか厳しい状況ですが、せっかく離宮ホテルに来ているので文明を忘れてのんびりするにはよいのかもしれません。 レストランはとても風情があり、特に屋外の席は広く美しい庭園を見ながら食事ができます。8月でも夕方以降は涼しく、少し肌寒いくらいでした。ただお値段はなかなかで、二人で飲み物、スープ、メイン、コーヒーを頼みましたが、100ユーロちょっとかかりました。 ホテルのなかはアズレージョがたくさんあり、施設の作りに趣があり、優雅な時間を過ごせると思います。

Incredible & historic palace to ‘visit’; unfortunately the hotel stay had many issues but the majority are staff with lack hospitality training, which means they can be addressed hopefully. Other inconveniences are: no WiFi in rooms (which is understandable), but it was really hot inside the room so even sleeping with balcony doors open it didn’t help. Bathrooms are really really old so managing hot/cold water for showering is super tricky. Zero amenities so don’t expect almost anything. Fortunately we stayed only one night which made it interesting but def not something I would recommend. Dinner was a mere ok (also understandable). They run very short on staff so also expect a slow service in overall.

Although the property was gorgeous and the staff were great they say there is internet, there is Not. Told us we had to be in the lobby, we stood beside their computer and still no signal. No usb port in the room. No TV other than BBC. Just silence. But you can explore the lovely walking paths in the forest.

Das Hotel ist eine bewohnte Antiquitätensammlung- Geschmacksache. Aber 5 Sterne und WLAN nur in der Lobby ? Der eigentliche Grund hier zu wohnen, sind das erstklassige Restaurant und seine unglaublich guten Weine!

Personnel très disponible. Parking juste devant l'entrée. Notre chambre avait une vue sur une cour interieure pas très attrayante. Cadre général étonnant et d'une autre époque mais très agréable.

Очень красивый отель для остановки на 1 ночь . Великолепный завтрак, красивый интерьер отеля и потрясающий парк. Отдельное спасибо персоналу отеля за то, что они не поленились и по моему описанию и фотографиям предоставили мне комнату, в которой мы останавливались 10 лет назад. Но есть и минусы: нет сейфа, минибара, принадлежностей для чая и кофе, халатов и тапочек, что со моему мнению является неотъемлемой частью отеля 5 звёзд.

Traumhafte Lage! Ein historischer Palast mit akzeptablen Alterserscheinungen. Wir würden aber gerne wiederkommen. Freundliches Personal. Gutes Essen, nicht unbedingt preiswert, außergewöhnlich gutes Frühstück!! Eines der besten die wir erleben durften. Und alles in einer stilvollen Umgebung. Zum Aufenthalt ist eine Mehrfachstecker hilfreich. WLAN nur in der Bar nutzbar.

Carece de falta de mantenimiento: Ventanas bastante gastadas, la grifería del baño con óxido. Para el precio que tiene la estancia deberían arreglar varias cosas.

A faded beauty. Unfortunately there was rust coming out of the pipes in the bathroom. There was a very large rust stain in the bathtub. No wifi in the rooms..just downstairs in public area. Very limited television. Also, there is a restaurant that is Very overpriced. Having mentioned all the negatives, the grounds, walking paths and gardens are incredibly beautiful..

Absolutely beautiful! Words cannot describe the opulence of this place. Rooms were clean, comfortable, but a bit dated (the blow dryer????) don’t pass up the opportunity to stay here. It’s a PALACE! Literally. The details in the decor, the grounds, the staff were amazing. Cannot say enough about this place. If you have the chance to stay, even for one night, DO IT! You won’t be disappointed.

L'hôtel est tres belle, son emplacement dans la forêt de Bussaco est magique. L'intérieur de l'hôtel dans les aires publiques sont très spectaculaires, surtout la salle à manger. Petit-déjeuner très bien, j'ai apprécié le mimosa. Mais la chambre, surtout la salle de bain n'était pas propre et tres vieillotte,vraiment besoin de rénovations .

The hotel looks like a medieval castle but was actually built in the late 1800. There's a wow factor when approach the hotel. And some of the common areas are impressive such as the dining room. The young gentleman at the reception was very kind and helpful. And the surrounding forest is beautiful. But the positives stop there. The problem is the hotel is falling apart. And the owners don't care. Wallpaper peeling off all over the place. Dirty bathroom och bathtub. Toilet doesn't flush properly. The cleaning staff must find paper and worse floating in the bowl every time they clean the room. The staff in the restaurant is like Faulty Towers. Running here and there nervously, arguing with each other, throwing food on the table and running away again. We actually had a good laugh at it all, but considering the price and low quality of the food it's a disgrace. Go here, look at the hotel and forest, but then leave and stay and eat elsewhere.

La limpieza es realmente buena, pero hay de que considerar la antigüedad del edificio y casi todos los muebles. El sitio y el edificio impresionante. El trato inmejorable, independientemente del idioma que uses.

Nous avons passé une nuit dans un cadre exceptionnel avec une ambiance hors du temps. Le château vaut le détour. La suite dans laquelle nous avons dormi était évidemment très spacieuse, dans un confort rustique mais appréciable pour une nuit. Un effort supplémentaire aurait été appréciable sur le ménage à notre arrivée (notamment dans la salle de bain). Nous avons apprécié le petit déjeuner exceptionnel et pouvoir se balader dans le parc en soirée. Nous avons dîné au restaurant du château, d’une cuisine raffinée et rustique qu’il convient de consulter avant de réserver.

C'est difficile de donner une note appropriée. Je dirais 5 étoiles pour l'hôtel mais à peine 2 étoiles pour la chambre. L'endroit est tout simplement magnifique c'est à voir absolument. Le personnel est très sympatique. L'endroit est un vrai musée il y a tant de chose à voir. Premièrement le Wi-Fi est horrible. À peine 4mbps et le réseau te disconnecte tous les 5 minutes. Les chambres sont limite acceptables. Il n'y a pas d'air climatisée. Les lits sont dur, le tapis est vraiment très usé, plein de craques sur les murs et dans ma chambre il y avait une grosse tache de rouille et l'eau y coulait brune les 3 premières secondes à cause de la rouille. Aucune insonarisation les chambreurs d'en haut avaient un enfant et comme il n'arrêtait pas de courir ça faisait un bruit fou. Si c'était une auberge je pourrais comprendre l'état de la chambre... mais pas d'un hôtel 5 étoiles. Mais comme je vous dit pour le reste c'est vraiment beau à voir je vous le conseille tout de même!

The property grounds are beautiful. The room was nice, had views of the garden. The breakfast was fantastic, everything you could possibly want. The hotel is older and showed its age and could use a bit more upkeep (i.e wallpaper that was starting to peel). The room was clean and bathroom was lovely.

Beautiful place to stay, friendly stuff, room was small and dark, didn't had a palace feel but building itself is beautiful. Very good breakfast. Lots of parking!

The hotel was amazing! The room was very clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was perfect. The balcony view and parking were great too. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back.

Im Schloss übernachten, hier wird es möglich. Historisches Gebäude und Parkanlage sind eindrücklich. Tolle Räume und Atmosphäre, allerdings kommen die Fenster, Bäder oder Heizkörper in die Jahre, mit Nostalgie begründbar, nicht mit dem Standard eines 5-Sterne Hauses. Zimmer sehr hellhörig, unseres zumindest. Speisekarte im Restaurant von Speisenangebot überschaubar, viel Pomp mit einigen Makeln, zB mussten wir uns immer selber nachschenken, obwohl bestimmt 8 Servicekräfte im Einsatz waren. Beim Frühstück ein sehr aufmerksamer und zuvorkommender Kellner, der aber für alles zuständig und die einzige Servicekraft war. Auch hier Abzug. Das darf nicht passieren dass der Frühstückssaal derart unterbesetzt ist, dass ich trotz 1,5 h Frühstück es nicht erlebt habe dass das Buffet mit zB Omelette wieder aufgefüllt wurde. Wie gesagt, nichts dramatisches aber für 5-Sterne unangebracht.

The Bussaco Palace Hotel is a very nostalgic place for a maximum of a night stay as the property offers very little in terms of entertainment and sightseeing. The garden surely had the former glory but it needs an uplifting with new plants. Bkfast is good enough but need a few improvements such as a coffee station as the exhausted staff struggle to keep up with the pace bringing only small pots of milk and coffee to the table especially when there is a group of 6 or more in the same table. Dinner is def not a good value for money but pleasant enough in a very bright dining room which could be much more enjoyable with candles and a fewer lights. The room we stayed despite being sold as superior was quite small no usb port to charge our phones and very noisy especially during early morning hours when staff come to work and late evening hours when they leave their shifts around 1am. The building is quite amazing though and worth one night stay.

Lindo palácio dentro de uma reserva florestal. Ótimo café da manhã. Quarto e banheiro grandes mas necessitando de renovação tanto do mobiliário quanto das instalações.

Every one of the staff members were extremely professional, helpful, and friendly. The hotel is gorgeous and a very unique place to stay. The dining room is stunning, and the food was good. You can walk around beautiful gardens and trails, but there's about a 20-30 minute drive to get anywhere from the property.

Jose at check-in was amazing. He went above and beyond to ensure all our questions were answered. He gave us information on the historical significance of everything around the palace and helped us arrange transportation.

The hotel is a "must visit", unfortunately not a "must stay". The rooms we stayed in were very outdated, and the shower had no warm water, only the bathtub did. Management should take a look at what Pousadas de Portugal did to their hotels and try to do something similar. Service, except for the reception desk, was very slow, with way less waiters than needed.

The hotel and staff were beyond amazing. They were genuinely friendly and helpful immediately to any of my needs. The grounds, too, were very interesting. I spent 3.5 hours walking trails in the forest. It was delightful and relaxing. I want to come again and have my friends visit as well.

If you want to say you stay in a beautiful palace in Portugal then I would recommend this unique opportunity. However, if you don't wish to feel shamed or made to feel oppressed and bad about yourself then I don't recommend it. We visited from Canada and had an issue with booking our toddler son. The check-in person was rude, impatient and accusatory for our mistake. He refused to listen to anything we had to say and made us feel like common thieves trying to snuggle a child in who we were holding at check-in. He overcharged us for the child and then proceeded to reprimand us and make me feel demeaned as a mother. We understand occupancy and occupancy charges, and for a "five star" I would expect more tact and customer service vs personal attacks. The rooms are ok. It is outdated but you are paying for authenticity and the experience. At breakfast the one staff person was incredibly hostile and rude. They ran out of all kinds of food and noone dared to mention it or else she would snap at you and ask if you "did not like the food that was there." Overall we did not have a relaxing time as the ambiance and feel of the place is not filled with positive vibes and joy. Perhaps this is ok for a certain generation and style of traveler but to keep this place alive I think some of the backdoor thinking may need to be refurbished instead of the rooms. I took a star off for breakfast and one for service.

Service all had their noses in the air. In the evening, 4 people basically standing around doing little. We were the 2nd people in. Watched them ignore us, and go take orders for everyone else. My wife got up and walked out, and asked why they were ignoring us. They actually did us a favor. We drove to Mealhada, and found an ACTUAL Michelin-starred restaurant that was infinitely superior to the hotel restaurant, as well as cheaper. Only staff worthwhile was a woman who covered breakfast BY HERSELF, and did an excellent job.

Beautiful property. A highlight to our trip to Portugal. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very good buffet breakfast. We enjoyed dinner one night at their restaurant. The lounge common area was very relaxing. The gardens were beautiful. The trails are extensive and we hiked quite a few of them but be prepared for some hills. The monastery was interesting and worth a visit. On the downside, wifi only in lobby and common lounge. Our room was dated and needed some TLC. We spent 2 nights at this hotel and i'd say that was a good amount of time.

ホテルにたどり着くのは車が無いと大変です。 ストライキにあたり、電車は動かず、タクシーもひろいにくく、夜は真っ暗です。 Uberを使えるようにしておく必要があります。 ホテルはこんなところに実際泊まれるのは驚きでした。施設は古いですが昔のままの椅子をそのまま使用して座っていいというのがポルトガルならではな気がします。 本館には泊まれませんでしたが、とても貴重な体験でした。 季節がいい時にまた行きたいと思います。

This is a beautiful unique hotel. Yes, it is a bit tired as is expected for being old but it does NOT smell musty etc. and the bed and shower were great. Ask for a room with a balcony. We had three rooms, one had a 2 sets of french doors that walked out onto a shared balcony that could hold 50 people. Another room had 5 windows. Absolutely stunning. The grounds are incredible. In the forest there are seqouia trees from california. One of them was so large that 7 men would have to join hands to reach around it. This is truly a beautiful place to visit. Advice: Skip the dinner, too many reasons to explain and enjoy the wonderful breakfast in the same dining room.

Location, excellent grounds, nice trails and an amazing timeless palace with incredible architecture from the past centuries.

El palacio es precioso, personal atento y buen desayuno y parking pero las habitaciones no son propias de un hotel de lujo, están para remodelar, tanto el baño como la moqueta, la pintura de las puertas, etc. el baldaquín de las cortinas tenía polvo, solo hay wiffi en zonas comunes y pocos canales tv. Una vez visto el palacio no repetiría, hay muchas otras opciones a mejor precio y con mejores servicios

This is a very old property with all the old world charm. We stayed there for one night and loved it. Beautiful grounds, hiking trails around the hotel.

I do not recommend dining at Mesa Real. The service was horrible. They were removing all ustensiles and glasses of all table around making lots of noise while we were still eating our main course. We decided to skip cheese plater and dessert. The light in this room is stronger than in a cafeteria. Takes away all the charm of our romantic dinner. The service was also poor at breakfast buffet because I had time to finish my breakfast before getting my first coffee.

Lugar maravilhoso, cafe da manha ótimo, mas o restaurante que serve o jantar deixa muito a desejar, garçons despreparados, comida cara e ruim.

There is no doubt that this is a beautiful historic building. The architecture is remarkable and the position amazing . The interiors have been preserved from the early 20th century and are stunning. The staff were very good , knowledgeable , efficient and friendly. It’s supposed to be 5star but I don’t think it is , although the prices are. If you want to stay in a unique hotel for a special occasion give it a go. Personally I wouldn’t stay more than 1 night but if you want to explore the area around then a longer stay is recommended. The food was fine . The wine expensive and I’m not sure the hotel is as good as it thinks it is

Beautiful property. A highlight to our trip to Portugal. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very good buffet breakfast. We enjoyed dinner one night at their restaurant. The lounge common area was very relaxing. The gardens were beautiful. The trails are extensive and we hiked quite a few of them but be prepared for some hills. The monastery was interesting and worth a visit. On the downside, wifi only in lobby and common lounge. Our room was dated and needed some TLC. We spent 2 nights at this hotel and i'd say that was a good amount of time.
