O hotel é bem antigo . Era um convento antes da guerra e depois passou a ser um hospital militar. A localização é boa. Os quartos são amplos mas antigos. A cama é de casal e desconfortável. O elevador não estava funcionando. O café da manhã era pago.

Perfect location to the center of town and easy to get to. Interesting history of the building. We were upgraded to a huge room with lots of antique furniture but still a bit sparse. Staff was excellent particularly Daniela. Bar was closed but breakfast was good. The pool was a nice way to spend a hot afternoon after visiting the city.

We loved our stay at this hotel. We had a really nice room overlooking the pool, a comfortable bed and a terrace where we sat with a bottle of wine in the evening. We enjoyed sitting and reading by the pool in the afternoon and breakfast the next morning was delicious. We had the option of sitting in their beautiful courtyard with lime trees or inside in the dining area. The hotel was very atmospheric having been a convent, we could feel the history as we wandered around the corridors! The staff were very friendly and helpful, and it was useful being able to park our car in their spacious carpark. A happy stay for us!

Das Zimmer roch sehr muffig. Die Wände hinter dem Bett und neben der Zimmertür waren nass. Der Deckenputz bröckelt. Der Fußboden im Bad hat unzählige Flecken. Die Übergardine ist teilweise abgerissen.Hierhin komme ich niemalswieder. Das hat?!

Staff were nice. Place has a weird old smell. But it is an old building. Decor is dated and bedding feels meh. Bathroom shower head had someone else’s hair wrapped around it. For the price it’s kinda what I expected. North American motel vibes in castle like building. View was nice. Parking easy. Neighbour was annoying and started playing music at around 2am. Had to put my AirPods in to sleep but still slept terrible. The noise and the beds a bit hard for me. That’s not the hotels fault.

Atendimento impecável, limpeza dos quartos sem nada a apontar, quarto muito confortável, pátio interno muito agradável para descansar debaixo das laranjeiras em flor com todo o seu perfume. Único apontamento, mas que é devido à própria característica da construção é a insonorização dos quartos entre eles e o corredor, pois infelizmente calhou-nos famílias com crianças que independentemente da hora se comportam normalmente como crianças e os pais que os deveriam de orientar/formar melhor, não o fizeram.

We enjoyed our stay a lot, had a great veiw and spacious room. Staff let us check in early and helped book a taxi into Spain. The breakfast was amazing. We were given 2 single beds instead of the requested double, and we unfortunately had very noisy guests opposite that kept us up late.

The rooms were very basic not a bit like the one on the website. No bedside tables and nowhere to put things down as there was only one small table. There was only luke warm water to the sink and bath. When we arrived at reception we asked if the restaurant was open that evening and was told that it would be at 7.30pm. We arrived just after 8pm but there were no staff and we were told the bartender would be back in five minutes. 10 minutes later we found him but he said that there were no hot meals that evening and the restaurant was closed but he could make us a sandwich. Definitely Not 4 star.

The building is excellent. The stay not great. I don't recommend an interior rooms as the temperature was out of our control(hot and stuffy). They kindly gave us a new room when asked. A 4 star rating is to high...ex. paper cups, no chairs on the terrace. Even with a language barrier, the staff could be more friendly.

For dinner I ordered soup and when it came the soup was cold. I had to ask them to heat up the soup, which also tells me the soup was not fresh. Then when the main course spaghetti arrived, it was cold too and that's when I decided that was enough so I spoke to the waiter and he said he wouldn't charge me for the spaghetti since I didn't eat it. This four star hotel is overrated because it should be a one star hotel. Second time of staying at the same hotel I now see the true colors of the staff. Every time I asked a question, the red hair receptionist (forget her name) was always playing /shuffling paperwork as if she was too busy to even print me a receipt upon check-out. Check first to see who the kitchen staff is before you order the food. If it's Ines (the short lady with long hair) do not order and go somewhere else. She's also not friendly and never smiles at us. There are two Ines' in dinning. We gave this hotel a good rating at first but after the second time of staying there, we chaned our minds especially after receiving the cold food. We were blown out of our minds that this could be happening at a four star hotel.

Worst stay ever - air con not working at 40 degrees ! The internet did not work the whole time we were there. Ate in the restaurant and one meal inedible and having a drink before dinner the chef had several shots !!! Reported to manager - end result full refund. Lift not working and the comp breakfast we were offered was withdrawn in the middle of the restaurant and we had to go to reception to sort out - Avoid avoid avoid is all I can say !!!

We really enjoyed our stay.The staff were kind and attentive. The room was comfortable and spacious. The breakfast had a good choice that suited us well seeing that my wife is vegan they provided a plant based milk, fresh fruit and fresh fruit juices. We will return.

They did not provide us with the VIP treatment (welcome drinks) promised in my Hotels.com reservation. 3 euros for a beer at the hotel bar is crazy expensive for a small Portuguese town. On top of that, the two waiters were serving cocktails to themselves and drinking them in front of us. Surreal, I have never seen such thing in my life. I have been visiting hotels at least twice a month for business in more than 50 countries Hot water was not available in my room. Dinner was good at a decent price. The building is beautiful but should be taken care of better. Breakfast buffet is not a 4 star one. Far from it.

Nice place, it’s huge with lots of common areas. Great staff; let me move rooms as mine was interior and too hot. Easy parking and walking to everything.

Perfect location to the center of town and easy to get to. Interesting history of the building. We were upgraded to a huge room with lots of antique furniture but still a bit sparse. Staff was excellent particularly Daniela. Bar was closed but breakfast was good. The pool was a nice way to spend a hot afternoon after visiting the city.

The rooms were very basic not a bit like the one on the website. No bedside tables and nowhere to put things down as there was only one small table. There was only luke warm water to the sink and bath. When we arrived at reception we asked if the restaurant was open that evening and was told that it would be at 7.30pm. We arrived just after 8pm but there were no staff and we were told the bartender would be back in five minutes. 10 minutes later we found him but he said that there were no hot meals that evening and the restaurant was closed but he could make us a sandwich. Definitely Not 4 star.

For dinner I ordered soup and when it came the soup was cold. I had to ask them to heat up the soup, which also tells me the soup was not fresh. Then when the main course spaghetti arrived, it was cold too and that's when I decided that was enough so I spoke to the waiter and he said he wouldn't charge me for the spaghetti since I didn't eat it. This four star hotel is overrated because it should be a one star hotel. Second time of staying at the same hotel I now see the true colors of the staff. Every time I asked a question, the red hair receptionist (forget her name) was always playing /shuffling paperwork as if she was too busy to even print me a receipt upon check-out. Check first to see who the kitchen staff is before you order the food. If it's Ines (the short lady with long hair) do not order and go somewhere else. She's also not friendly and never smiles at us. There are two Ines' in dinning. We gave this hotel a good rating at first but after the second time of staying there, we chaned our minds especially after receiving the cold food. We were blown out of our minds that this could be happening at a four star hotel.

Hotel com história. Super confortável e com todos os colaboradores muito prestáveis e simpáticos. Pequeno almoço muito bom. Único tema menso bom foi a falta de muitos pratos constantes da carta por falta de ingredientes, o que condicionou um pouco a escolha aos almoços/jantares.

Lovely spacious room and whole hotel is beautiful and comfortable full of historic art and furnishings. Restaurant and breakfast buffet were both great. Easy free parking. Elva’s is a wonderful place to visit

Arrived late at night and there was a musty smell, opened the window and went to sleep, next morning I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel. It’s an amazing place and loved the pool, the building itself and the location. Having parking was appreciated and staff was really nice! Will return.

Lovely ancient historical building. Everything very tasteful. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. There was a problem with my coffee machine and the lady and gentleman who came immediately were great. Breakfast was tasty with a wide choice of hot and cold items and I was able to eat it in the courtyard. Room was great with a large balcony overlooking the city walls. The lovely lady on reception allowed me to park my motorcycle in the secure locked courtyard overnight. Room was super too, with nice cold air conditioning even though it was 37C outside! Best of all were the super friendly helpful staff mentioned already plus the staff at breakfast.
