The rooms are lovely, me and my partner stayed in the Suite room and it was perfect. Exactly what we needed. We came for a concert and a long weekend of shopping. Everything was clean, tidy and well presented. The staff were helpful and friendly, everyone was very polite. Check in was speedy despite a very large queue, and the luggage room was so so useful for before and after checkout. So very accommodating and a gorgeous building with lots of common areas. Towels, soap, very comfortable king size bed; we recommend indefinitely!
The rooms are lovely, me and my partner stayed in the Suite room and it was perfect. Exactly what we needed. We came for a concert and a long weekend of shopping. Everything was clean, tidy and well presented. The staff were helpful and friendly, everyone was very polite. Check in was speedy despite a very large queue, and the luggage room was so so useful for before and after checkout. So very accommodating and a gorgeous building with lots of common areas. Towels, soap, very comfortable king size bed; we recommend indefinitely!

It's great for the price, communal areas and bunks are really stylish. I'm 53 yo female, stayed in female dorm, everyone tried to be quiet but the sound of others getting ready was enough to regularly wake me. Downsides- basement kitchen is grim. No cups, glasses, pans, spoons so bring what you need. Also magnetic strip on door pass failed regularly, meaning several 3am frustrated trips from one end of the building to the other.

Nice staff. Would have been nice with soap in bathroom and more than one roll of toiletpaper to start with and fix the elevator. But overall a nice place to stay. We didnt try the restaurant.

Let's face it, this is a posh hostel, not really a hotel. Having said that, the entrance, lobby and main eating/bar/music venue area are impressive with a hipster vibe (complete with pool table). My room was located down a utilitarian corridor, reminiscent of a council estate corridor that's been poshed up a bit. The room was basic but the bed was clean and comfy. Private shower and which was hot and clean, fresh towels. Just don't expect any frills - the rooms are somewhere to crash, not hang out. The main downside was the lack of sound insulation. I could hear the person in the next room talking on the phone, then later snoring! Luckily they were not too noisy but if you get a noisy neighbour it could be a rough night, so take earplugs! Overall, I would stay again if I need somewhere safe and central to crash and go the next day. Oh, and you get a free drink at the bar! A bit pricey for what it is - but that's central Liverpool for you.

The staff were helpful on arrival, smoothing out a booking issue. One disappointing thing was that the kitchen facilities are no longer available (closed for a refurb, but other reviews suggest they've been closed over a month). I wasn't told before arriving in at check in, and this was part of my reason for my booking, and I spent a lot more money buying hot drinks over my visit, so this was frustrating. The location was good, the rooms were spacious, and although dated and an old building, the facilities were OK. My bunk bed was very creeky, low on the floor and not particularly comfortable (with a broken bedside shelf). It was nice to have a privacy curtain and plugs by the bed. When I was collecting my luggage, there was no staff and several people had been waiting 10 minutes to leave their bags, in the late morning. I tried the luggage room door handle and it was open. So the positive was that me and others could access the luggage room instead of waiting for staff to arrive, the negative was that the luggage was completely unsecured and people were frustrated they had been waiting needlessly for 10 minutes for staff to appear

I’ve stayed here before and really liked it. This time, the room was awful: the heating was broken so the radiator made a noise all night, there was no hot water, the electrics on the beds didn’t work, the toilet was dirty and unpleasant, and the staff were ignorant (except for the lovely Spanish lady). The curtain rails on the beds kept falling off when you got out of bed and woke everyone up in the middle of the night. And the beer was ridiculously gassy - to be fair the beer was awful last time too. We were told to walk down the corridor to the lift to get to the fifth floor, only to be told by another member of staff that there was no lift. We come to Liverpool a lot but we will not be back here. Especially when we can stay in a hotel for less (and get towels).

The layout of the room was quite unsafe, I think, since there was little room to move in and out of the bed pods and with little space to store luggage, it became a tripping hazard at night. I did appreciate the privacy curtains though. The room itself was quite filthy (used tissues, dirt/dust, unemptied trash, etc.) though the bathrooms were a bit better. The location is fairly close to the train station and is a short walk from the main shopping centers, though it's quite far from the airport. It lists laundry facilities as being available for guests, but that consists of a single washer and dryer for the entire building which requires a token that doesn't work most of the time. The cycles take a long time and apparently the check-in staff is not notified when the machines are out of commission. The building looks great from the outside, but sits next to a student accommodation, so it's quite noisy at night.

For a family of 4 (2 teenagers), this was a cheap and convenient way to visit Liverpool. The accommodation was fine for sleeping in and the communal area had a very calm, chilled vibe. Hostels are supposed to be basic so if your expectations are realistic, you'll be pleased with this place. A huge bonus is the car park opposite which cost £5 for 24 hours. Don’t forget to take a towel with you!

It’s a hostel so it’s fair to expect basic but there was black mold all over the bathroom ceiling and my feet were dirty after walking round the room after showering so cleanliness isn’t great either. Hostel is attached to a bar which is good though and 24 hour staff.

We stayed in a private room in this hostel which, though cheaper than most other options in Liverpool, was by no means cheap and the state of the room made it feel like bad value. The room was dirty - there was visible dirt on the floors, walls, fittings, toilet etc. The radiator control was broken meaning that 24hrs a day (and more to the point, night) the radiators were too hot to touch and the room was like an oven. The windows barely opened but did provide some relief. Good job then that the shower was only just warm. There was no blind in the south facing bathroom so you could barely see in there when the sun was out (but you could definitely see the dirt!). Strangely, the communal spaces in the building have very strong and quite unpleasant perfumes that hit you as soon as you walk in the building. Plus sides were friendly staff, clean sheets, comfortable bed, close to a very affordable long stay car park, and good location for sightseeing.

I like that it was very quiet. They are doing a much needed renovation. Toilet seat was completely broken. Lots of mold. Just old.

Room was clean, toiletries provided, bedding was freshly made. Staff were polite and informative, easy process checking in and out and always passed a kind smile when leaving and returning for the day. Bed was comfortable, clean and spacious aswell as the bathroom which possessed clean water for showering and washing hands. Cleaning occurred daily and upon return to the hotel in the evening a fresh bin bag had been set aswell as new towels and toilet paper

The staff were very friendly when we arrived. The only thing I can say is the rooms, the room that we had the pillows were dirty still and mould near the shower and walls. The beds were comfy.

Stayed on Halloween, the establishment was decorated wonderfully for the occasion. The room was cozy and the beds were very comfortable, I had a great nights sleep after a great night out.

Very slow and inefficient check in process, very small and hot room with no air con, fan or able to open windows fully. Very uncomfortable lumpy bed and pillow. For a hostel it did the job but there were no towels (had to pay extra) and no floor mat on the bathroom. Shower would spray water all over the floor so the floor was consistently wet as nothing dries in the humidity. Also no wifi the entire stay even though it advertises free wifi but it didn’t connect once while we were there

The room was absolutely freezing cold! Two large radiators but neither of them worked. It made for an uncomfortable night. The plumbing is obviously old, and water was cold for the shower and the basin tap spluttered dramatically. Not great.

The rooms are lovely, me and my partner stayed in the Suite room and it was perfect. Exactly what we needed. We came for a concert and a long weekend of shopping. Everything was clean, tidy and well presented. The staff were helpful and friendly, everyone was very polite. Check in was speedy despite a very large queue, and the luggage room was so so useful for before and after checkout. So very accommodating and a gorgeous building with lots of common areas. Towels, soap, very comfortable king size bed; we recommend indefinitely!

Overall stay was okay however noisy with consistent sounds such as dogs barking, noise from under the door, water dripping on the window sill and water dripping in the pipes. Paid for late checkout till 1pm but got woken up at 11am being told it’s time to check out even though we had paid, they then had to go verify and left us till 1 but however disrupted our sleep.

For the first time I can remember I was asked for photo id or no stay. Eventually I found an old email sending a redacted copy of my passport and that was accepted. The confirmation email MAY have mentioned it but who reads those for a stay in the UK? Radiators obviously need bleeding as it sounded like we were bivvying next to a bleeding waterfall! Basic facilities, no tea /coffee etc, but quiet and otherwise comfortable.

The staff were helpful on arrival, smoothing out a booking issue. One disappointing thing was that the kitchen facilities are no longer available (closed for a refurb, but other reviews suggest they've been closed over a month). I wasn't told before arriving in at check in, and this was part of my reason for my booking, and I spent a lot more money buying hot drinks over my visit, so this was frustrating. The location was good, the rooms were spacious, and although dated and an old building, the facilities were OK. My bunk bed was very creeky, low on the floor and not particularly comfortable (with a broken bedside shelf). It was nice to have a privacy curtain and plugs by the bed. When I was collecting my luggage, there was no staff and several people had been waiting 10 minutes to leave their bags, in the late morning. I tried the luggage room door handle and it was open. So the positive was that me and others could access the luggage room instead of waiting for staff to arrive, the negative was that the luggage was completely unsecured and people were frustrated they had been waiting needlessly for 10 minutes for staff to appear

We had an issue with the key card (it was not available when we arrived) - I stayed 3 nights and 2 without the key card, so Everytime I had to enter the room I had to call the receptionist (which was not always there as everyone had the same issue). Also, the room had lot of mould on the ceiling. The size of the room was ok. They had shampoo and conditioner but not shower gel (I took the hand soap to take shower). And we’d have to pay £4 for each towel but they didn’t charge us because of the issue with the key card the location is very in the city center, close to the train station, I found a bit dirty, lot of homeless people but very close to all the shops tho. It was decent but it definitely doesn’t worth the price, I’d stay there again.

There could be more consistency in service however - most staff didn't charge to make a cup of tea for instance but one morning another member of staff did charge so very much depends on who you get! Convenient that it's a few mins walk from the city centre.

a great hostel for a trip to central liverpool, walking distance to everywhere and super close to the train station. felt like a safe location and the room was ideal for a short break; clean, spacious and had fans in room. Quite expensive for just one night but best price for time of year.

The location is great, the street looks a bit rough from the bottom but it's not that bad. The rooms are big but cold. It was pouring down with rain and 6 degrees out and there was no heat in our room. Also, the extra charge for a towel is silly. Even if you pay it there's no bath mat so you're stepping out of the shower onto freezing cold tile. We stayed for a week and never saw the bar open. But overall it's a bed, hot shower and close to everything we needed.

This was a basic accommodation. Some staff were very good some not. The view was of a litter-filled yard and the brick building opposite. No car park available The room had paint peeling from walls. VERY expensive for what it was. It wouldn’t take much to clear the litter or paint the walls. Breakfast (at extra cost) was advertised but not available as ‘she had phoned in sick’ It felt like the building and business were probably owned by a landlord who only cared about the money, not really bothered about the notion of service.

Me and my partner come to stay at the ph hostel for one night as it was one of the better priced options in the city. Because of this we wasn’t expecting lots but however at the bare minimum you should be provided what is advertised such as WiFi and breakfast. The guest WiFi didn’t work and when we went to reception to ask if we could use the office WiFi they declined. The breakfast seen as photographed on the website is none existent! We thought we was getting a bargain full English for the price of a fiver only to be told that they only provided cereal and refillable coffee

It’s a hostel so it’s fair to expect basic but there was black mold all over the bathroom ceiling and my feet were dirty after walking round the room after showering so cleanliness isn’t great either. Hostel is attached to a bar which is good though and 24 hour staff.

I stayed in an 8 bed dorm room. The first room I refused to stay in because it stunk of BO and damp, wet towels on the windowsills and really dark. Was moved to another dorm which was better but the whole building is damp. Mildew on the walls and ceilings, smelly and unloved. Receptionist couldn't be bothered to look up when I checked out. I slept well and the croissants were great in the morning, but I won't stay here again

Let's face it, this is a posh hostel, not really a hotel. Having said that, the entrance, lobby and main eating/bar/music venue area are impressive with a hipster vibe (complete with pool table). My room was located down a utilitarian corridor, reminiscent of a council estate corridor that's been poshed up a bit. The room was basic but the bed was clean and comfy. Private shower and which was hot and clean, fresh towels. Just don't expect any frills - the rooms are somewhere to crash, not hang out. The main downside was the lack of sound insulation. I could hear the person in the next room talking on the phone, then later snoring! Luckily they were not too noisy but if you get a noisy neighbour it could be a rough night, so take earplugs! Overall, I would stay again if I need somewhere safe and central to crash and go the next day. Oh, and you get a free drink at the bar! A bit pricey for what it is - but that's central Liverpool for you.

I’ve stayed here before and really liked it. This time, the room was awful: the heating was broken so the radiator made a noise all night, there was no hot water, the electrics on the beds didn’t work, the toilet was dirty and unpleasant, and the staff were ignorant (except for the lovely Spanish lady). The curtain rails on the beds kept falling off when you got out of bed and woke everyone up in the middle of the night. And the beer was ridiculously gassy - to be fair the beer was awful last time too. We were told to walk down the corridor to the lift to get to the fifth floor, only to be told by another member of staff that there was no lift. We come to Liverpool a lot but we will not be back here. Especially when we can stay in a hotel for less (and get towels).

You get what you pay for i guess. The only positive about this place was location to the city and train station. No activities for being a hostel. The beer garden was lacking any esthetics and there was a dead pigeon just chilling there. Lots of gardening projects left unfinished and nobody The sink and shower would flood while in use. The dryer took 4 cycles just to get to reasonably "dry"..just a very underwhelming place to stay

This was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, due to lots of reasons. People banging on doors at all hours, rooms far to hot and cramped, beds very hard and uncomfortable and the amount of people having loud love making made me think I was in a brothel. Screaming shouting etc, we was booked in for 2 nights but checked out after one night due to not getting any sleep due to the aforementioned reasons and paid for another hotel. Under no circumstances would I recommend this place. Not happy at all and could of completely ruined our weekend.

Everything was good, although in a heat wave the room was very hot. Staff provided fans to take to the rooms to help. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Everything was good, although in a heat wave the room was very hot. Staff provided fans to take to the rooms to help. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
