Comfort Suites At WestGate Mall

The food was good and the room was mostly clean. The toliet was about to fall over as it wasn't bolted down and the seat was also coming off. The elevator was broken. The bathroom lock was broken.

The hotel was close to the main drag for restaurants and stores. Only ten minutes from star sports center. Liked that they offered rooms with two beds and couch just what we needed. What was not good, ice machine on our floor was broken and pool closed even though it was advertised as open on Expedia for May. When we checked in the lady wasn't friendly but got the job done other front desk were. Breakfast starts early but not as early as other hotels. Fridge didn't get cold but there was a fridge always a plus and microwave. Can be hard to turn left when leaving hotel no light. Easy parking, elevator fast, only saw one. Would stay again as location good, hopefully pool will be open and they offer three beds with the couch.

The elevator was broken. We had to make several trips up the staircase. There was a love roach in our tub. I have a video of it.

The room was clean and quiet. The staff was friendly. Our vehicle was broken into along with several others in the parking lot. I feel the security is severely lacking.

The rooms where nice only problem I had was that the card key for the room wouldn’t work and wouldn’t let us in a few times, so I had to continuously go to front desk and the front desk person wasn’t that friendly.

Hotel was ok. The door cards were a pain and kept on not working which needed to be reset two-three or even four times a day

Only 4 stars because the beds are only full size, yes it says that in the picture, but it would have been ok if the pull out was more comfortable and the kids could have slept on that. You could feel every spring, no they are not all like this either. This was never an update mattress or a topper. Pool was closed some of the time we were there. Breakfast was hotel breakfast food. The mall was across the street was ok. Lots of places to eat and shop in the area. We mostly will not stay again because of the small beds.

Updated room, bed was comfortable, basic room and bathroom. Walls are thin and could hear shower pipes vibrating from next door. Fitness center was beyond basic with only 3 pieces of equipment and two not fully functional; half broken weight pulley system and treadmill wouldn’t incline.

Parking was not that good trailers parking in multiple spots

Pool closed was disappointing, but otherwise, very nice hotel. Loved the real Oatmeal on the breakfast buffet, and the lemon water in the lobby. Definitely will stay again

Hair on the shower walls and clogged in the drain. The remote for the TV was filthy and didn’t have batteries. The sofa bed pullout mattress was stained in several areas with red, brown and yellow stains. It was not clean and would not stay there again.

Roaches, lots of very large roaches in my room. I didn’t notice any until I was preparing to check out but then saw a dozen or more moving on the carpet and floor, they were partially camouflaged by the carpet but once I looked for them I saw several. Otherwise was a nice and clean room but they need to fumigate or something to get rid of the.

Checked in Sunday for a stay until Wednesday. Room did not get housekeeping at all on Monday. On Tuesday they only picked up towels and got trash. No cleaning, no bed making, no wiping down anything. I checked out early and mentioned this to the front desk staff. He took a note but other than that no comment, no apology. People loud running up and down the hall late Sunday night, talking loud in and out of rooms etc. A fire alarm went off Sunday night/Monday morning at about 1am or so, not real sure why but no fire truck came and no one checked with the guests to let us know what was going on. By the time I was about to evacuate the alarm stopped and everyone went back in their rooms. Perhaps it had something to do with the awful Weed smell you could smell when coming off the elevator and walking up the hall. Breakfast not as good as advertised. Oatmeal in a pot on counter was just watery, not made properly. There were bagels available but only two pieces of regular in bread keeper and they were end pieces and hard. On a positive note there was cream cheese and butter available for the bagels. Had to get someone to fix the coffee dispenser because the top was not connected and couldn’t get the coffee to come out. Overall it was not a safe warm welcoming feeling in general at the hotel like I have experienced at other Comfort Suites I have stayed at. I will add, the front desk lady working on Tuesday morning was very nice.

The staff was great but the room I was in smelled musty and the toilet lid was cracked.

If it weren’t for the friendly staff at the front desk, would’ve rated terrible. Gentleman at the front desk Saturday was wonderful. Room was gross. Flies in the ice bucket, hair on the shower wall and floor, and missing linens and pillows for sleeper sofa we needed. Was told “sorry, we’re completely booked, we don’t have any extras” but the gentleman at the front desk was a life saver ! This hotel is in a great location near shopping, food and entertainment, shame it’s not a nicer place.

Cockroaches and stench.

The first night we checked in, we noticed about 10 baby roaches in our bathroom. I went to the front desk to let them know & I was told that if I don’t see a bug within an hour, we can’t change rooms. I put in a maintenance request to have the toilet caulked the next day & the maintenance guy only sprayed bug spray. That night we saw an adult roach. When I went downstairs to notify them again, I was dismissed & told “we don’t have roaches”. So I submitted another maintenance request for the caulking of the toilet (because the toilet & shower parts were not caulked to the floor/walls). This time maintenance did not show up. After seeing yet another extremely large cockroach in the living area, I went downstairs to talk with the gentleman working the front desk, Paul I think. He told me that I’m seeing water bugs (aka Palmetto bugs) & NOT roaches. I corrected him because palmetto bugs ARE roaches & even seeing one is a sign of an infestation. There were multiple times he would just walk off & start talking on his phone w/o a word to me. He then went up & checked our room. Because he didn’t see a bug with his own eyes, i was dismissed yet again, despite showing him literal proof on my phone of the pictures I took each time. After back & forth with him for awhile, I told him I just wanted to leave & get another hotel because I am pregnant and have 3 small children & roaches carry diseases. We left & had to pay for another nights stay because it was past checkout time.

Arrived after midnight, just passing through and needed to stay one night. Front desk clerk was very nice. Got to the room and there was a weird smell. The ac sounded like a diesel truck idling in the room. The couch had a big dark stain on it. When I opened the sheets to make the sofa bed for my son a candy wrapper fell out of them. But the worst was the toilet. I went in the bathroom and there was dried brown stains on the toilet seat, and dried urine with hairs in it all around the base of the toilet. I cleaned it with soap and water and we tried to make the best of it because we were so exhausted. I checked the sheets and they looked clean. We slept as best we could with the loud ac and smell, and left early the next morning. I couldn’t wait to get out of there! How does the housekeeper think it’s okay to not clean the toilet? Looking back now I can’t believe we stayed but it’s crazy what you’ll do when you’ve been driving for 8 hours and can barely keep your eyes open. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place!

The room was nice but I take points off for the damp odor. I carry odoban with me while traveling because some hotels have a damp musty odor like wet carpet that didn’t dry under ventilation. The air freshener helped with the odor.

Overall experience was great. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, comfortable and spacious

Had a king suite with a fold-out couch/bed. The couch/bed had no sheets and was extremely uncomfortable

We enjoyed the roominess of our suite and convenience to the interstate. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. They also had a nice breakfast.

There were two problems - first the rooms are not very soundproof, lots of noise. second - my room smelled bad. The location is good, rates are good, breakfast was good.

The room was perfect, although with a husband who was snorting I decided you sleep in the fold out bed, I don’t recommend it, felt the springs. They need a foam topping. Other than that great location, clean.

The property and room was clean overall, and it is convenient location off of the interstate. You can hear guests walking around in the rooms above you, which makes sleeping difficult if you are a light sleeper.

Was very reasonably priced. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Furniture needs replacement.Had problems with AC in 2 different rooms, appears it's time to replace units.

This hotel was fine, nothing special UNTIL breakfast. Freddy made all the difference. His warmth, friendliness and great food was a huge bright light in this world of negativity and in the morning of people shuffling down the hall in a strange hotel/city. This guy needs to get a giant raise. He goes around and makes sure everything is perfect and that everyone is happy and included. The bed was fine and the room was quiet so good for Comfort Suites but it is people who make the difference.

Check in time much too long. This was due to only one person working the check it desk. Outside of my 35 minute wait time to check in, my stay was absolutely great!

I called ahead of time to see how early I would be able to check in due to being in town for a funeral. The receptionist had an attitude not friendly or welcoming at all.. Upon arriving my husband went in to check in and that same receptionist told my that she told me already that there was no early check-in. But gave him the keys anyway... As far as the room it was clean but, the rugs where dirty and there was no sheets for the pull out bed. I then called downstairs to ask for sheets the same receptionist was rude again and said to just come downstairs and get them.. We really tried to spend as little time there as possible and could not wait to check out...

This was the worst most unprofessional check in experience I've ever been through. Waited for 26 minutes without being acknowledged. Then we were told system was down and got our room but the guy checking us in was rude about it. Freddy the breakfast guy was so nice and helpful the next day, he should train all staff there. Nothing wrong with the rooms and property was clean. I wouldn't recommend and will not return, solely based on most of the staff interactions. Couldn't believe how rude they were, except Freddy.

The hotel was close to a lot of different shopping and dining. Staff was very rude, from check-in, to breakfast, to check-out. Room was overall clean.

They were understaffed for the amount of check ins on the weekend we came It took us 45 minutes to check in, crazy!. We had 5 rooms for 4 nights. A lot of money was spent. Because of the amount of children in the hotel, management must have decided that the pool and weight room be closed. The reason for the heavy volume of children, mostly boys, was because of the Southern Nationals AAU youth football tournament being held in town. Closing the facilities of the hotel was a very poor decision. Clearly this is a reason why some people booked the hotel. The staff said it was due to maintenance issues. However, you could clearly see the pumps working, etc. Not to mention the staff area behind the check in desk does not have doors, and the day shift ladies talk pretty loudly...It was made clear why both the pool and weight room were closed. Comfort Suites lost one customer at least.

The hotel claims to be pet-friendly, but that’s misleading. I learned this the hard way during our stay. My family and I left a disaster area in the wake of Hurricane Helene just to get shower and regain some normalcy. When I checked in, the front desk asked if I had pets. I confirmed that I did, only to be told I couldn’t stay in the room we reserved because it wasn’t pet-friendly. The hotel was fully booked, and we were forced to find another hotel that could accommodate family of six & 2 dogs an hour away after already driving two hours to get to this particular hotel. This experience was incredibly frustrating, and I will not be staying at any Choice Hotels in the future.

Great location-close to EVERYTHING

Good location next to restaurants and stores. Clean staff was amazingly friendly and helpful i will definitely come again.

Great place to stay in the heart of Spartanburg

This hotel was easy to access from the interstate. It was very clean and my room had a king size bed with a pull-out couch that was very very comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was very nice. And the staff were extremely accommodating

Only stayed 1 night as we were on our way to another location. Clean, quiet room. Friendly staff at front desk. Nice location. Easy to get to from highway. Nice breakfast

Perfect for where we were wanting to be. Good basic hotel breakfast, kept fresh. People nice, location great!

We have a good stayed here, breakfast was good, easy parking, great greeting staff and love they daily take trash out. Only thing I would recommend is breakfast starting 6:30am on weekend as our daughter games were early she couldn't grab something early morning before leaving.

It was ok. The price wasn’t worth the stay. The clerk didn’t seem happy to see us. Housekeeping staff very friendly. Cleanliness could be better. Our ceiling had water damage. Remote didn’t work well. Breakfast was ok but breaker kept tripping so waffle maker, toaster, and microwave kept not working and staff wasn’t too quick fixing it. It wasn’t awful by any means, and I would stay again if I had to. But it definitely wouldn’t be first on my list.

We stayed here for a sporting event at the Upward Star Center and It was the perfect location. Just across the street from the mall and close to restaurants. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast in the morning was decent. Good options but when we got there the food was mostly gone. The fruit was old and almost rotten. the staff weren’t very attentive and the lady at the front desk was looking at her phone and didn’t seem to want be bothered. Overall, it was a good hotel and met our needs. My only complaint would be staffs lack of care/concern.

The check in lady was so nice I think her name was Mary. The room had a disgusting and filthy sofa mattress so we didn’t use the sofa bed. The breakfast eggs were gross. Not hot and looked greenish black. The danishes were all expired. 6/10
