A very nice country B&B, couldn't fault the helpfulness of the staff, they were very full in the restaurant but still managed to find us a quiet corner to have a drink prior to setting out to tthe party we were attending in nearby New Mills.

Staff and facilities really great. Everything from help in advance with booking, to small touches in the room (flask of cooled milk instead of UHT pack), guidance on use of facilities, superb breakfast . Thinking of an excuse to be in the area and book again.

Old country inn with views across rolling hillsides. Double room with large bed which creaked loudly when you moved. En-suite was a little cramped but had modern shower over bath. Efficient central heating though thermostat had no markings to say how to control. Breakfast was good However fruit already placed in bowls and didn’t spot any Greek yogurt. Coffee was good and the toast excellent. Cooked breakfast was tasty and plentiful but looked as if some elements had been precooked and kept hot Sunday Lunch was tasty and again plentiful served in the dining room or the bar - in good atmosphere Staff very helpful and pleasant. Would recommend staying there. Good car park and there is beer garden for the summer

We had a superior double room good space with air con. Was warm when needed and water always hot albeit slow if running a bath (but worth the wait). Great location to just chill out and good walks if you wanted and when its not foggy!! Whole property was kept warm and seemed very busy bearing in mind location etc. Big car park. All staff were great - seemed happy. We had snack, then evening meal which had alot of choice and was very good and value for money. Breakfast also excellent. Thanks alot we will return :)

Excellent dinner with local produce freshly cooked. Friendly staff. My room was warm, clean and comfortable. breakfast was again locally sourced produce freshly cooked and very tasty. I stayed overnight when visiting nearly Lyme Park. I would definitely stay again

The Pack horse is an excellent place to stay the staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and well provisioned, the food is excellent both in the evening and at breakfast. I have stayed multiple times when working in the area and am always disappointed when i cannot get a room there.

What a lovely place to stay. We were here in August 2021 and loved it so returned and were just as impressed. Well appointed rooms, comfortable and spotless, but what makes is amazing is the staff and food. They have a great range of menu options, including vegetarian choices and everything we ate, we loved. Comments from other diners suggested the same whatever the meal. The staff are all super helpful, friendly and make you feel very welcome. Perfect if you are spending time in the Peak District, on a road trip or even in the area for business. Cannot fault it and will be back again. Make sure you reserve your table for dinner as it’s popular throughout the week. We stayed in room 11 and it was lovely.

Absolutely spotless! Everywhere! Service in the restaurant was quick. The whole pub works like a well oiled machine and all staff are happy, helpful and efficient. A fabulous place to stay.

Nice welcoming Free House with rooms, very pleasant and helpful staff, very good breakfast choices and the pub food was generous and well prepared. Our room, despite it being October, became very hot overnight without the heating being on so we would recommend guests use the AC units provided in the room.

We only stayed the one-night but couldn't fault it. The room was comfortable and well appointed. All the staff were very friendly. The food was really good. The views all around are amazing.

We stayed in the Pack Horse for two nights. We were put into room 1 on the first night. Room 1 is dated and worn. The room is very close to the entrance of the pub and it is on the main road side. Making the room very noisy. I’m annoyed at myself that I didn’t complain immediately and ask to be moved. We were moved to room 5 on the second night by the very friendly and helpful owner. Room 5 is the complete opposite of room 1 and it’s like going into the future by 20 years. The only complaint I could find with room 5 was the window above the bed has a light outside causing light to come in the room. I fixed this issue at 2am with pillows and towels. The breakfast on the first morning was very nice as they allowed me and my wife to choose what we wanted and what we didn’t. I don’t know what happened on the second morning but the breakfast just wasn’t as nice and we just got a bit of everything. The coffee was a bit on the cold side too. The Pack Horse is a very friendly and busy place.

My wife and I spent two nights at the Pack Horse for a short break to recharge after illness. The pub is primarily an eating establishment which seems to cater for locals as much as the walkers who use it as a base. The food is exceptional and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The only very slight issue we had is that the bed in our room (room 8) was as hard as a rock which did not suite us but may suite others. All in all I would recommend a stay here as it is well situated to tour the Peaks.

Second time we have stayed here just for 1 night and again our stay was excellent, we had a delicious evening meal even though it was Mother's day we were served very quickly and the food perfect. The staff are always so friendly and attentive.

This is such a lovely, homely hotel. The staff are kind and welcoming. The food is lovely and the breakfast options are amazing to start you off for a day of walking. The rooms are nice and cosey and lovely and warm. I would definitely stay again for going anywhere near the area.

our second stay here. Staff are amazing, very friendly and helpful. Food is amazing and great value for money, you need a good appetite. Superior rooms are spacious and clean. Good selection of toiletries to use. Large bed, very comfy. 2 chairs in our room to sit and read, watch TV. Views are superb

Stay over for a friends party, really friendly welcome and very hospital team throughout our stay. W head an executive room, very comfy with some nice added touches such as nespresso machine. Food at lunch and for breakfast was excellent. Really good value, traditional pub. Would definitely recommend and we will book next time we are in the area.

Booked one of the better room and it was lovely and spacious with two armchairs to sit and watch TV. Also had bathrobes and slippers. I was expecting the dinner menu to be more adventurous as recent reviews suggested it was a bit more than just pub grub. However it was just that but perfectly acceptable. Breakfast was good too. We have stayed ther before as we have family in the area and it’s always been consistent

Everyone at the Pack Horse Inn were so so lovely and welcoming, we had such a great stay! We hope we can visit again and do some of the nearby walks too. The food is amazing, really tasty and very generous portions!

Absolutely loved my stay at The Packhorse Inn. Friendly staff, excellent cooked breakfast each day. Excellent base for Peak District hiking holiday. My room was overlooking road which didn't bother me but bear in mind.
