Eastbourne Riviera Hotel

Very pleasant , staff very friendly and helpful . Nice lounge area with flat screen tv.. Bar serving various beers , ciders and spirits as well as teas and coffees. Full breakfast if required . Room clean and tidy with a bathroom , tv , phone , safe , desk and chair . Right opposite the beach and a short walk to the pier and town .

We chose this property using Wotif filter showing parking. The receptionist said the hotel has never offered parking so there is a problem somewhere between Wotif and the hotel. We had to pay for parking and walk around 800m back to hotel. The room was basic but clean and in a great position along the foreshore.

Seafront , literally just cross the rd to swim. Good sized , clean , modern (this is unusual for many of the seafront hotels) single rooms. Like all Eastbourne hotels fronting the beach , the seaview is taxed by unavoidable traffic noise NB The Riviera also has a busy road to the rear. Lovely staff. Good wifi £2.35 voucher for street parking 8am to 11am next day.

The good: Great value for money, clean room, daily housekeeping (if you keep the tag on the door handle), friendly receptionists, tea/coffee and kettle in room, clean room and nice decor in the hallways. Particularly liked the heated mirror in the bathroom, although the integrated light was a bit dim (but maybe it’s meant to be a nightlight?). Parking vouchers are available from the reception for £2.20 which will last you till 11am the following day (I.e. you’re covered till checkout the following day. Great location for walks along the beach or Eastbourne Pier. Lots of restaurants nearby and the high street is just a 15 minute walk. Could be improved: - They should have some coat hooks or a stand in the room. We had to keep our wet coats on the chair which probably isn’t great for their furniture either - Washrooms have separate hot and cold taps which was annoying to use (especially in the shower) - Would be nice to have a lamp near the mirror

Some rather unfair reviews on here. Our room was nice and clean, albeit small. Car parking at only £2 with a hotel permit on the seafront was a real bonus. Breakfast rather pricey, when you consider the several options in proximity. A great pub- the Crown and Anchor - just over the road. Will return the next time I have a reason to overnight in Eastbourne.

Room was very clean. Wifi was strong staff were very helpful and always available.was cheap hoyel bit very clean and comfortable.

Hotel in a very convenient location. The staff were excellent The lift is rather small. Bathroom in need of complete updating - at the moment not very safe to use the shower over the bath - no grab rail.

Bath was not very clean. No bin in bathroom or lock on bathroom door. Window next to bed and could not be opened. Coffee and milk indrinkable - yuck. Reception did not know how to operate the coffee machine. Lots of nice painings. Very nice communal area. Not expensive.Shower was feeble and kept changing temperature. Only one bedside plug and one spoon for two people.

Hotel looks nice as you walk in, modern reception and dining area but oh dear go up the stairs and it starts to look very tired. Bathroom clean but shower head hanging off wall, we couldn’t turn light off. The bed was so uncomfortable and the room was very very cold. Breakfast was ok but a little on the cold side and we were the only people having it that morning!!!

Can’t fault my stay, the staff were amazing, always helpful and friendly. My room was spotlessly clean, including the bathroom. The room had everything I needed. Exceptional value for the price.

When we arrived we was happy with the outside, we parked right out front of the hotel on the seafront. We entered and had to check in at the bar, not a reception. The young lady working was lovely hence the one star. As we walked to our room we noticed the building was very dated with pictures of queen Victoria everywhere. Our room was quite far into the building, we had to walk up multiple staircases and down other staircases to get to our room. As we entered our room we was pleasantly surprised until we actually looked around. First we went to check our view, our window faced a brick wall so we had no view at all, the curtains were stained and mouldy. The window itself was mouldy and filthy. The bedside tables had chewing gum and bogies stuck underneath. The bathroom was just as bad, the bath was dirty, the toilet was dirty and the bathroom floor was flooded and covered in hair. We decided we was only there for a night so we would deal with it. Later when we decided to get into bed, there was literal pubic hairs on the bed and my partner spotted what looked like a bed bug. The bed was squeaky and felt like it was going to break even when you just sat on it and the mattress was like a rock. I also woke with bites. The man working at night came out of the building smoking so he had lit the cigarette inside the building. Breakfast was surprisingly nice although it’s a small plate of food, wouldn’t say it was worth £9.90. Doors are locked at 11pm so your on a curfew.

This was a single room which suited me as a solo traveller. It was perfectely decorated the bathroom was up-to-date. Bed was comfortable. Tea/coffee/ milk etc was sufficient. The room was secure and while the room as at the back of the hotel it suited me as it was quier overnight. Even with the window slightly open. Check in/Check oit times ideal.

Traditional hotel right on Eastbourne seafront close to shopping, restaurants and bars. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable, clean and well maintained.

It was a good trip, and view from my room was beautiful.

The rooms were light and airy but could still hear traffic noise even tho there was a shutter on the windows. Mattresses were really soft, uncomfortable and creaked every time you moved. The pillows were hard. There was mould on the bathroom ceiling. The shower had to be aimed upwards to be able to stand under as it was low down. The showers could do with upgrading to electric showers rather then being connected to the taps as the temperature varied from hot and cold

Well priced for a seafront hotel but generally it is very tired. The original double room I was offered had 2 single beds pushed together with 2 single duvets & was a small very basic room. I enquired about a double bed & duvet & was kindly upgraded to a larger room with a double bed. Still tired but spacious.

It was a functional room. Clean. Tidy. Comfortable bed. Nothing special beyond that.

The hotel is in a good location on the front. The room we had was at the back and was very hot. Even with the window open. It was also very noisy due the road at the back. The staff are lovely.

Loved this little hotel. My only complaint would be the bed was very hard and the pillows were very uncomfortable. Apart from that the staff were amazing. Clean. My shower did leak but fine. Lovely location. Would definitely stay again.

On our first night we came back to the hotel for a coffee and a nightcap ,the receptionist on duty ( Thursday evening) was asked for cappuccino but brought a pot of tea ,when I said I never asked for that ,she told me I had, even though the other people I was with told her the same ,I then asked for a rum and coke and offered to pay by card ,but it was less than £5 so I said I would have a Newcastle Brown as well, she then accused me of disrespecting her and through the rum and coke down the sink ,picked up the tea stormed out the back slamming the door behind her and left us standing there , very disappointed as the daytime receptionist couldn't do enough to help .our room was not tidied up or stocks replenished on our last night ,every other member of staff were great but our stay was spoilt by one person, so sadly we will not be returning to the Eastbourne Riviera

Staff are pleasant and speak English. I had a problem with my leg and they managed to find me a room opposite the lift.

The staff were lovely. Very polite and helpful. My room was clean. A bit noisy traffic, but it got quiet after 10pm. The breakfast was good as well. Good value for money.

Really nice hotel, excellently situated opposite the beach, with the sound of the waves sending me to sleep. The best bit was the staff. They were very helpful and supportive of my needs.

Very very rude member of staff, told me to "go get my coffee some place else because i didn't like theirs" and refused to make me a coffee on the basis that i politely declined the 1st coffee made because it was not right. Then clerk proceeded to walk away as i was talking and closed door on my face

The best part of staying there was the staff. Each of them were sincerly nice and quite helpful. The breakfast was hot and very good. A great deal for the price. I would stay there again.

I often stay at this hotel for overnight stop or short stay in Eastbourne. It is clean, secure and easy to to get to on foot from the central town area. Location is ideal for an evening stroll ore early morning walk along the promenade. I can't comment on car parking as I always use public transport to/from and around Eestbourne.

A perfect location, directly on the seafront and walkable to the town and theatre. An old hotel, but our room was recently decorated and clean. We parked in the NCP about a 10 min walk from the hotel, but there were options to park along the seafront.

Actually should be easy to find, as it is next to seashore...but my GPS directed me a to a different spot for some reason. Well: great place, hard to find a parking spot, as it is in busy area. And try to find food early enough, as places shut down quite early. But: nice service, good breakfast. a bit noisy because a location and there will always some moron who accelerates his mighty bike at 3 am. It just is like it is!

It's was very good very cleaned the staff was helpful the bed was comfortable. The breakfast is okay but not great the beacon to hard and sausage over cooked . But I enjoyed my stay and I'm going again very soon .

Being partially sighted I found the subdued lighting very difficult to navigate the route to my distant room. Also having no evening meal facilities meant I had to go out every night

An attractive garden gave welcome to a spacious and clean entrance. Since our stay was on a bank holiday early in the season the bar was not open and we were not able to dine from what looked like a tasty menu. Check in was easy and the room spotless and well- appointed. Location central and near the sea made this a pleasant stay

It would have been convenient to be able to have a sandwich or some bar food other than having to go outside. Otherwise v good and would stay again and staff very helpful.

Not really the best of hotels, for several reasons: - hotel parking is on the streets of Eastbourne, if you arrive late you will struggle to find a space - rooms are OK but the walls are paper thin so you will definitely hear your neighbour snore, go to the toilet, cough, sneeze or any other noises they may emit - a small thing but the fan in the bathroom is quite noisy and stays on for what feels like an eternity after the bathroom light is turned off. Not great in the middle of the night (including the neighbouring rooms🙂) - both our breakfast orders were incorrect and the face of thunder from the server was a picture - the two omlettes we had for breakfast had wayyy too much pepper in them - the level of service generally was quite low. Standards were not high and wouldn't be acceptable in more dynamic hotels. Quite typical of Eastbourne really where the town feels tired and has lost its lustre - Rooms on the front facing the sea get the sun most of the day and get warm/hot and a lack of aircon forces you to open windows that bring in the noise from the busy road out front - breakfast was quite cheap at £9.50 but wasn't value for money. The hotel needs to look at chains who have a simple but effective proposition (for example Premier Inn) as this is now what many people expect as a minimum and this hotel falls someway short of that. Wouldn't stay here again.
