The Five Arrows is a beautiful property with historic connections to Waddesdon Manor. The staff were all extremely friendly and our room overlooked the garden. We were able to leave the car the next day and walk to Waddesdon Manor.

It was just perfect for a weekend stopover. Very good rooms. Evening meals were excellent as was breakfast. Electric charging was very cheap, but somewhat convoluted unless you have the app (Apple only so no go for me!) Highly recommended.

A treasure of a hotel worth the cost. Very clean rooms with comfy bed and a bath with shower over. Restaurant food was delicious, well priced as well as breakfast which was ordered the night before and you could eat leisurely. Our room included entry to Waddesdon Manor which was a bonus. Car parking was easy. Staff pleasant.

With its close proximity to the manor it seemed like the ideal place to stay. The staff were friendly and welcoming, but generally we felt it was overpriced and not value for money. There was 1 socket in the bedroom that served all electrical devices, so if you wanted the lamp and fan/ hair drier on or even a laptop you had to choose!! The restaurant menu was disappointing, the breakfast mean, and this had to be pre ordered. I couldn't get the free WiFi to work. The car park is small, and with many of the manor staff drinking there in the evening, we struggled to park. There are electric charging points. The bed however was comfortable and there was a fan in the room - a godsend on one of the hottest days of the year - but we're back to the one socket in the room to serve everything. There was a Nespresso machine but no instructions. The desk had a chair but you couldn't get your legs underneath

A beautiful place to stay, attentive staff, great food, good facilities, spotlessly clean. Ensure you know how to access the premises if calling on on a Monday or Tuesday, because reception is closed. And the intercom is at pub rear door no the near the reception area.

Wonderful staff, super helpful. Food was amazing! Only little niggles was the shower head was a little grubby in our room and the road can be noisy if you’re not a heavy sleeper like myself. Beautiful place and wonderful if you like to have long walks up and around the Manor House behind the hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay. The service from the staff was outstanding, and the food was absolutely delicious. We booked a Deluxe Double Room, which was clean and had a very comfortable bed. It was also beautifully furnished. Some previous reviewers mentioned a bit of wear and tear, which we also noticed, but it was very minor. After reading earlier reviews, we requested a quiet room, which we were given, and we’re glad we did as we hadn’t appreciated how busy the road outside could be. That said, while the room was lovely, we did feel it was a little pricey for its size. If you’re planning to dine in the restaurant, we’d recommend booking a table in advance as we did. We were there on a Saturday night and it was completely full. Breakfast was fantastic too - we really can’t fault the food. One thing we were initially disappointed about was discovering on arrival that Waddesdon Manor was closed for the weekend, despite our confirmation email stating we could enter free of charge. The hotel simply pointed out that the closure was noted on the manor’s website, but we do feel the hotel should have informed us directly. That said, it actually worked out well in the end as we enjoyed some fabulous, peaceful walks around the grounds, which were wonderfully quiet because the manor was closed. Overall, a great stay with excellent service and incredible food. We would happily return.

We were happy with the room which was high upin the attic (although we kept getting lost and ended up going down a dirty staircase to the kitchen by mistake..). It was comfortable and clean. The staff was very attentive. The only drawback was the preordered cooked breakfast which was rather mean - one small rasher of bacon and one small sausage... My vegetarian sausages seemed to have been made of saw dust. The "continental" breakfast must have been prepared by someone who had never been to the Continent and consisted of boxes of cereal, sad fruit salad and some yoghurt. On the plus side, the toast and scrambled eggs were delicious. However, we would not stay here again.

The grade two listed house and out-buildings lend themselves, perfectly to hotel use. At the moment this feels more like a pub with rooms than a true ‘ boutique hotel’ but all the raw ingredients are there … just add money ! Room 8 was comfortable and well appointed, the bathroom would have benefitted from a little more attention to detail with respect to limescale but nothing that couldn’t be easily rectified. I really hope The Five Arrows receives the investment it’s crying out for..

I had been really looking forward to staying at The Five Arrows, but unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. After a long journey with our two very young children, we were greeted rather awkwardly, which set the tone for the stay. The cot provided had a dirty sheet, which we had to request to be changed — disappointingly, there was no apology offered. Later that night, the alarm clock in our room went off at midnight, waking up our whole family. Breakfast the next morning was also a let-down; the atmosphere was very stuffy and uncomfortable, and the staff seemed curt and unwelcoming from the outset. To top it off, an unexpected £60 charge was added to our bill without prior notice, which left a sour taste at the end of our stay. It's a shame, as the setting and building itself are beautiful, and I had really wanted to enjoy our time there. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I would find it difficult to recommend.

Characterful property with pretty garden. Room was tiny, not as advertised. Quite shabby, window paint peeling, mirrors very dusty, bathroom could do with a good clean! Cobwebs galore, wish there was the option to attach a photo of them! There are so many good features of the hotel but think we got the worst room maybe.

Return visit, overnight stay to attend a funeral next morning. Checked in at 8:10pm (not a very warm welcome), only to be told the restaurant closes at 8pm. In a hotel! I asked if an exception could please be made as it was only a few minutes, and we’d been driving over 2 hours, but was told no (without even asking the kitchen) - no bar food available either. Disappointing. Also asked to complete a paper “order form” at check in for breakfast the next day. That was a first. We drove into Aylesbury to find a restaurant for dinner. 40 minute round trip. Anyone booking with the expectation of dining at 8pm or later should look elsewhere. Room was ok - clean but very small, tiny bathroom. Bed so-so, hard pillows. Breakfast - friendly service and good food. Opted to pay a breakfast “upgrade” charge for salmon and scrambled eggs, which was very nice, but when checking out no one was available to take payment. Couldn’t wait as we had a funeral to attend. Asked the barman but he wasn’t interested. Half decent for a 3* hotel. Pushing it to claim 4*. Expensive for what it is. We’ve stayed at far nicer hotels for the same or less. For the price paid (about £170 B&B) can not really recommend. Won’t return.

Stayed for two nights. Friendly staff, restaurant very high quality. Our room was one of the suites which had plenty of room, enough seating and two tv’s. Our room key gave us free access to Waddesdon Manor- which was spectacular.

A wonderful older hotel and restaurant. I stayed in the tiny single room - this is not a complaint, it’s a great little room for one person. Characterful property with pretty garden. Room was tiny, not as advertised. Quite shabby, window paint peeling, mirrors very dusty, bathroom could do with a good clean! Cobwebs galore, wish there was the option to attach a photo of them! There are so many good features of the hotel but think we got the worst room maybe.

Return visit, overnight stay to attend a funeral next morning. Checked in at 8:10pm (not a very warm welcome), only to be told the restaurant closes at 8pm. In a hotel! I asked if an exception could please be made as it was only a few minutes, and we’d been driving over 2 hours, but was told no (without even asking the kitchen) - no bar food available either. Disappointing. Also asked to complete a paper “order form” at check in for breakfast the next day. That was a first. We drove into Aylesbury to find a restaurant for dinner. 40 minute round trip. Anyone booking with the expectation of dining at 8pm or later should look elsewhere. Room was ok - clean but very small, tiny bathroom. Bed so-so, hard pillows. Breakfast - friendly service and good food. Opted to pay a breakfast “upgrade” charge for salmon and scrambled eggs, which was very nice, but when checking out no one was available to take payment. Couldn’t wait as we had a funeral to attend. Asked the barman but he wasn’t interested. Half decent for a 3* hotel. Pushing it to claim 4*. Expensive for what it is. We’ve stayed at far nicer hotels for the same or less. For the price paid (about £170 B&B) can not really recommend. Won’t return.

Hotel is closed on a Tuesday, it was poorly lit and raining when i arrived, no clear signs where to go, eventually found a intercom, dont think the person knows the hotel, i needed to try and find my room, i couldn't l, went back to the intercom, he then opens a door where i found a key safe and then he tells me the room is in the other building, by this time i am very frustrated, hotel was closed so no food, i paid for breakfast but this started to late in the morning 07.30 so i never had this. Overall it looks nice, the roo. Was nice, but the lack of signs and difficulties i had means i wont be going back and would not recommend

The Five Arrows is a beautiful property with historic connections to Waddesdon Manor. The staff were all extremely friendly and our room overlooked the garden. We were able to leave the car the next day and walk to Waddesdon Manor.

Stayed for two nights. Friendly staff, restaurant very high quality. Our room was one of the suites which had plenty of room, enough seating and two tv’s. Our room key gave us free access to Waddesdon Manor- which was spectacular.

An added bonus included its the booking was entrance to Waddesdon Manor, a national trust house and gardens that are amazing. If not a NT member this would cost £28 each. Only thing to watch out is that the restaurant is not open on Monday or Tuesday evenings, though the Bow pub across the road did very good food.

Fantastic veggie food .. prob the best restaurant veggie meal in years. ..both the risotto (yes actually a first class risotto) and the veg stroganoff. Clearly proper chef making real fresh food. Thank you ! Service great. Setting ideal for Waddesdon Court (national trust). Nights stay slightly spoiled by HS2 lorries ! Characterful pub hotel - very definitely recommend. Highly.

With its close proximity to the manor it seemed like the ideal place to stay. The staff were friendly and welcoming, but generally we felt it was overpriced and not value for money. There was 1 socket in the bedroom that served all electrical devices, so if you wanted the lamp and fan/ hair drier on or even a laptop you had to choose!! The restaurant menu was disappointing, the breakfast mean, and this had to be pre ordered. I couldn't get the free WiFi to work. The car park is small, and with many of the manor staff drinking there in the evening, we struggled to park. There are electric charging points. The bed however was comfortable and there was a fan in the room - a godsend on one of the hottest days of the year - but we're back to the one socket in the room to serve everything. There was a Nespresso machine but no instructions. The desk had a chair but you couldn't get your legs underneath

I remember driving past this hotel when I was 18/19 and always wanted to stay. Well finally many years later I have. Booked a last minute on the day overnight stay to celebrate a new job. The hotel manager Aggie very kindly upgraded our room which was a lovely suprise. Superking sized bed, high ceilings with exposed beams. All in all a beautiful room. We had dinner in the restaurant that night and the food was excellent, definitely recommend the lamb pie. Breakfast the next morning was also delicious and we were looked after on both occasions by Noah, thank you to them!

Hotel is closed on a Tuesday, it was poorly lit and raining when i arrived, no clear signs where to go, eventually found a intercom, dont think the person knows the hotel, i needed to try and find my room, i couldn't l, went back to the intercom, he then opens a door where i found a key safe and then he tells me the room is in the other building, by this time i am very frustrated, hotel was closed so no food, i paid for breakfast but this started to late in the morning 07.30 so i never had this. Overall it looks nice, the roo. Was nice, but the lack of signs and difficulties i had means i wont be going back and would not recommend

The inside of the property was really beautiful and tastefully done. The outside of the property needed a really good clean. Our room had an outdoor terrace which was unusable because it was dirty. The were cobwebs literally all over everything. It looked as though it hadn't been swept in a very long time and all surfaces were covered in dust. The same could be said of all external areas of the hotel. The front entrance to the property was also covered in cobwebs and every surface dusty. There was a beautiful sign outside the hotel, we could see this very clearly form our room - I t was also filthy.

The impersonal, staff less reception system was, whilst efficient for the hotel, rather off putting. It worked, but am not confident this does not put off other guests who have no prior knowledge of this until check in. I certainly had not been forewarned of this. The public areas look tired with threadbare carpets on stairs and landings, though our two luxe rooms were much better and in the main building there is no guest sitting room or bar that we saw. A pity though mercifully we had great weather so sat in the garden in later evening after eating elsewhere. Staff when present were efficient and polite.

Can’t believe The Five Arrows is being listed under Expedia as a hotel. This hotel is absolutely rubbish. No restaurant, no checking in staff after 4:00PM. Really?
